Great Diner! I have been here two times, I had the chicken fried steak breakfast, the portion was large and the food was great. The second time I had a jalapeño avocado burger, simply amazing! The burger was perfectly cooked, seasoned and not greasy. I will definitely be back!

Yesterday I stopped by for brunch and went with Charlet’s Bacon Burger. It was great. This is the 4th time I have been there in the last few months. Each time I was pleased with the service and food.

we have been there maybe a dozen times, Julie the server is always prompt and friendly, the food is sometimes good, sometimes … maybe just so-so. I understand because I do the shopping for myself and my wife that food is expensive, but seems like their food is perhaps priced a little higher than a couple of other places we go to in Folsom. I guess maybe my question is, that most places when you are paying your bill, well, they don’t ask for a tip like the manager does,(I have no problem with tipping) usually I likely tip at least 20 — 25%, I felt as if I was being pressured into leaving a tip, which really … makes me want to leave a lower tip, or maybe even nothing at all. I understand the business, my family owned a restaurant, I know they work hard, get paid min. wages, I get it, don’t pressure me, I have left a $ 8.00 tip on a $ 12.00 bill before, notice who your frequent customers are, Im kinda turned off to going back to tell you the truth

The homemade sausage was awesome, my friend had the chili verde special is very good could be spicier. The atmosphere was very comfortable and busy but didn’t have to wait very long on a Sunday . Kelly is a great waitress and recommended everything we ate. Great choices.

I love Charlies café. The food is bomb and almost always too much to finish. The staff is super nice and always very tenative. I have been going to Charlies since I was a little kid and they were in the previous location across the street. There is a reason I never stopped going to Charlies café.

I am the king of going out for breakfast as my wife of 37 years wouldn’t trade sleep for eggs if her life depended on it. That being said I have tried every breakfast place in the near by many times. Charlie’s is without a doubt my favorite. The girls are always friendly and service is so fast. The daily specials are good and the food is a great value.

A friend and I stopped in for breakfast. We were told the wait would be ‘a few minutes’. 45 minutes later, after at least 3 parties who arrived after us were seated, I went up to the counter and asked why we hadn’t been seated. The very rude woman(my friend thought she was the owner, so that’s what I’ll call her) replied, ‘Your name isn’t even on the list.’ I told her it should be and asked her to look again. She said, ‘It’s not here. See? Look.’ And she held the clipboard up so we could look together. Sure enough my name was on the list and more than 6 parties who arrived after us had been seated. It appeared that when the name below mine was crossed out, my name had been partially crossed out. Instead of acknowledging the error, the owner indignantly stated, ‘Well, if they all your name and you don’t respond, they move onto the next person.’ I told her that my name had not been called and asked when we would be seated. She replied with, ‘Fine. I’ll write your name right here.’ I asked if that meant we’d be seated next. She replied, ‘Yes. Yes. You’ll be next,’ as she stormed off in a huff, as if I were somehow out of line for questioning her. After that she must have talked to the other person who was seating customers, because when she came back, she and the other person were very apologetic. But that was way too little and way too late. Here’s what I observed during my 45 minute wait: * Tables sitting empty for up to 10 minutes while the waiting area was packed. * Multiple customers walked up to the cash register to pay, but didn’t know how much to pay since the servers hadn’t delivered their bill. * The owner ran out into the parking lot looking for a guy she thought left without paying. She came back inside, and then left again with another customer, still looking for the guy. She caused quite a scene. Everyone in the waiting area was talking about her and debating what she was going to do if she found him. And the guy? He’d gone to the restroom, and was standing at the cash register while all this was going on, wondering how much he owed because someone(the owner) had run off with his check. She was very apologetic to him, too. * The owner asked one of the customers in the waiting area if he could stand up so she could step up in the chair to wipe off the ‘Specials’ board. She didn’t bother to wipe off the chair after standing on it. A short time later this guy was seated — he ate his food and paid(without a bill) before we were seated. Once we were seated: * The restaurant was like an icebox. * It took another 25 minutes for our food to arrive, and it wasn’t all that great. It looked like it had been sitting there for at least 10 minutes, my english muffin was as cold as the air in the dining area, and my potatoes were unevenly cooked. * At least 2 tables that were seated after us and ordered after us, received their food well before us. Other than the owner, the staff seemed nice, but they ran around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Breakfast was fine. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Nothing was especially great about it but that’s okay. Eggs cooked well, toast was toasted, and coffee was diner-y. Service was friendly and quick. The place could use some sprucing up in the décor department but then again, it’s a diner style eatery; it’s not meant to be fancy looking. I’ll return if in the area and need a solid meal.

Patty Melt ~ This was a frozen hamburger patty and it tasted like it. I believe it was $ 8.95. I could only choke down about 4 bites of the patty melt and maybe 5 fries and pushed it away! Steak fries were NOT good, NO seasoning and mushy! The waitress needs to be more friendly(not sure if she is related to the owner, blonde pony tail in 20’s/30’s and NOT customer service friendly). She NEVER checked on us, even when she dropped the check at the table, she was taking across the room(to the owner I think) never made eye contact and not once asked if everything was ok(had she looked at the table, she would clearly see I didn’t eat my meal). I will NOT return, bad food and bad service = NO Return!

I don’t know where to start. Ok, here I go! For the last 2 months my sister, bf and brother in-law have been eating at Charlie’s Café. I’m thinking we average 2 – 3 times a week. We have a loved one in a hospital close by and were tired of crap food. Charlie’s Café is a total gem! The food is amazing and the amounts are beyond a generous helping, the customer service is fabulous and the owner and chefs are the absolute best!!! Tuesday’s special is pot roast, I’m talking slow roasted, moist, no need for a knife, heavenly pot roast!!! It’s served with real mashed potatoes and a side of veggies. Friday’s they have a meat loaf special, real mashed potatoes and veggies again highly recommended. If you can catch the crab cake special, it’s few and far between but my god!!! I’m thinking it’s like winning the lottery!!! 2 cakes with rice veggies of the day and a marinara sauce so damn good you’ll dream of it a week after you’ve had it. I know I’ve said it before, but this place is a gem! Go there hungry and thirsty, you will not leave disappointed.

I bookmarked this place a couple months ago. Fairly certain this place moved from down and across the street(don’t be fooled by the sign at the former location). Located in a strip mall area, Charlie’s Café was my spot for lunch today. A good family place for breakfast or lunch. I was to eat alone today(poor me) and was seated at one of two high top tables by the window. I could see the whole dining room. The interior seems fairly new and fresh suggesting that a recent move is a correct assumption. Nothing fancy here and very comfortable atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and inviting. Not a full house on my visit but probably 75% full — just after breakfast heading into lunch time. I was thinking breakfast when I drove up but decided on the reuben, fries, and a side salad(bleu cheese, please). Food service was very quick. Salad first, fresh vege’s served in a bowl with the dressing on the side seems to be the norm. It was easier to dip fork in dressing, then into salad than to try the pour-and-blend method. The reuben came out as I was eating my salad and look pretty good. Nice grill on the bread, fries looked cooked just right. Simple presentation for this comfort food. The sandwich was a bit floppy, either due to the moisture in the sauerkraut and/or thin bread, made it a bit messy to eat. Good balance of contents and flavor. I will definitely come back for breakfast(my favorite meal to eat out and rarely eat breakfast at home).

Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time! My family and I came in for Easter(7 of us) and we were seated almost immediately. Drinks a few moments after and then we ordered. We had eggs cooked many ways at our table. Scrambled, over easy, over medium and an omlet… they were all cooked to perfection! I was VERYIMPRESSED! Our drinks stayed full, we all felt very taken care of. We only had one snag… my dad’s bacon omlet came with tomatoes. He doesn’t remember it in the description in the menu. Poor man can’t stand vegetables, hahaha! So, they offered to have it remade and it was over compensated with waaaaaayy too much bacon. It was a very nice gesture, but each bite had quite the salty taste to it. We had a great time. Everything else was delicious. See you all soon!

Charlie’s is a fabulous restaurant. The service is 5 star and so is the food. Their portions are huge and the food is all from scratch. Don’t forget to check their daily special board and the bakery case before you order. I love their coffee and to me it rivals any coffee house coffee. The waitstaff is prompt and friendly and they are always topping off your beverage or coffee so that it never gets lukewarm or cold. The owner, Charlie, is super friendly and remembers makes an effort to remember you. Don’t let your eyes be bigger than your stomach though, even though I always do, because their portions are huge!
