Just ate hear for the firs time after reading the reviews. My future wife had a sushi craving but there aren’t a lot of good options in the Lake Ariel, PA area. We decided to drive the 40 minutes to give it a try and we are glad we did. It’s located in a shopping center and a hidden gem. $ 2 for ALL bottled beers and $ 8 for uni make this place a steal. The food and service are excellent. It has a nice ambiance but is very casual. If you’re looking for good Japanese food at very reasonable prices then this is the place.

When we eat at Japanese restaurants, we usually order a mix of sushi and sashimi. For some reason, when we visited here, we ordered only rolls – their specials for the day. They gave us edamame appetizer on the house that we enjoyed and we loved all of their rolls(we ordered four specials). The rolls were fresh and the combination of flavors was great and unique(I’ve never had a spicy banana tempura roll before). The shumai is okay, the tempura ice cream okay, and I had some issue reading the«Atami Sushi» letters/name on their establishment that’s why we almost missed it even though we used a GPS. The next time I go back, I will just stick with the sushi and try the sashimi too. Yes, this is a great place for sushi!

Love this place! You need to eat in though, take out is OK but food is much better when eaten at the restaurant Staff is willing to make adjustment based on preferences, we like the tempura vegetables but the kids like some of the vegetables more than others. I am not a huge fan of the salad dressing wish it was more creamy like some of the other Japanese places in the area. Rock shrimp is very good. Kids love the chicken Katsu and Edemame

So we had been traveling for about 11 hours and may have been a little tired and cranky… but I was not that impressed. Was dying for some sushi and this place had the best reviews for the area. The sushi was ok, if you need to get your fix… it’s not bad but doesn’t compete with home for us. Service was slow and there were only 2 occupied tables in the restaurant… May try again if we return to the area.

The sashimi appetizer was fresh and tasty and a good mix. The ginger and wasabi had a great bite, too, and everything overall seemed clean. I also got a spider roll and cucumber roll, once again everything was fresh and yummy. My mother had hibachi chicken and shrimp and she said it was amazing, as well as the rice that came with it. We also got vegetable tempura and while it was delicious, I wish we had gotten more for the $ 7 it cost. But it was still super good so I can’t complain too much. It’s May and they still have a couple Christmas and Valentine’s Day decorations up, but it’s cute and the restaurant is very clean from what I saw. I’ll come back here again the next time I’ve got a craving for sushi and sashimi.

Very good take out sushi. Not a place with great atmosphere as it is in a strip mall but good for take out

(Vegetarian so I can’t comment on the fish) The tempura vegetable roll is SOGOOD. Must try. All the ingredients are fresh and they also have beer and wine now. The food is great and staff is attentive. The vegetable fried rice is also really good! Personal recommendation: the Tsingtao beer– a little nutty and malty and goes great with the crisp flavors of the sushi.

The service is great and all the sushi rolls I’ve tried were amazing. They are flavorful and leave you satisfied. I’ve been to quite a few sushi places in the area and this is by far the best! Make sure you give this place a chance.

Best Japanese in town. Owner is super nice. We had pork cutlets(Don katsu) and teriyaki red snapper which were delicious. Sushi and spicy tuna roll were also great. Highly recommend this place. BTW super inexpensive beer. Imports only $ 2.

We drove by here and just wanted to get some OK food. But it was out of our expectation! The Udon noodle soup was great. We also like the service here.

Always a quality meal here. Lunch sushi offerings are tasty and fresh and fast! This time I had some hibachi and was equally as pleased. Wish they had actual hibachi tables.

We came here after the end of a long trip looking for an establishment that included both a hibachi and sushi option and ended up here. Many of the items that I wanted(fatty tuna, uni, etc.) were not available, which was upsetting to me. I would have rather had the waitress inform me of the choices that weren’t available as opposed to placing my entire order only to find out what I requested couldn’t be fulfilled. That said, the sushi I did receive was fresh and decent. Was it out of this world? It was not, but I the pieces I did receive were perfectly adequate. My friends seemed to enjoy their hibachi, but we weren’t aware of the fact that the hibachi was prepared in the kitchen, not live in person. Would I come back? That’s a big maybe. I would try other sushi establishments in Scranton before coming back. I would definitely recommend going to Mayuri for lunch, as it is a fantastic place to eat.

Being from Long Island, my boyfriend and I were spoiled with endless options of great food from many ethnicities. Atami felt like having a piece of that again; I never thought I would find respectable sushi in the area. Everything was fresh, delicious, and well prepared. I enjoyed the Zen roll… if you like to try new special rolls, the cilantro added a nice dimension. The broth of their udon soup was deeply flavorful and not overly salted. Dinner bento box was the most generous portion we’ve ever had. We also appreciated the fact that the tempura items were not greasy like some places often are.(Thumbs up on the proper fry.) Our server was very friendly and informative, I can tell she took pride in the food. We will return next time we’re in the area.

You can’t be serious. For the first time in my life I left half the plate of sashimi uneaten. The fish here, while not rotten, was certainly not fresh. The pieces look like they were refrozen and rethawed a couple times. And most pieces actually tasted fishy(the only reason I like sashimi but not fish in general is that they don’t taste«fishy») I had to stop eating because I was feeling nauseus. Even the grilled calamari, wife and I were fairly certain they boiled the calamari and just seared the side to make it look grilled. The calamari itself tasted bland from not being fresh, and the lack of flavor was covered up with sauce that’s too sweet, too salty, and too much So here you go, one of the worst japanese restaurant I’ve had in my memory. I guess there isn’t decent competition in the area.

Very nice, sophisticated, clean and simple. Sushi grade fish, well prepared. Smallish portions but fine by me. Perfect rice. Inventive menu. Had grilled squid which was a little bit overdone. Overall would return. Please read my review of China Palace in same area(Dickson City) — gave that place a more than generous 4 star review(3 for adequate food, 4 for cleanliness & service). This lovely resto head & shoulders above in food quality– 5 stars across the board. Have eaten in many great restaurants and don’t expect much when on the road, this establishment very very good– do recommend for sushi & sashimi, bento box and cooked fish.

BESTSUSHIEVER! I have had sushi every place I have visited in the country, from California to New York City and Atami is the BEST I ever had. Everything is super fresh, prepared neatly and served elegantly! Try the: Tako Su, Wonderful Roll, Banana Tempura Roll, any sashimi, and whatever sake you can get your hands on! If sushi is not your thing, no worries — they have top notch hibachi dishes! Treat yourself to dessert and try their green tea mochi. You won’t be sorry! Honestly, just try everything. They offer delivery which is amazing and the service is outstanding! It’s a Clarks Summit gem. :-)
