Exceptionally slow and rude service. Also, they do not serve several items listed on the menu and are often out of ingredients. Once you choose an item they happen to have in stock, it is usually very good. Unfortunately, you may be so annoyed at this point that you don’t care. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, solely due to the rude service.

The food was very tasty and the service was perfectly fine. I also appreciated the large vegetarian selection that was clearly labeled on the menu. I wish I could have tried some of the dessert because it looked heavenly, but perhaps another time. It was clean, warm, and very much inviting!

We were traveling on I-24 and found this place on Unilocal for a late lunch. It was a bit of a drive off of the interstate. My wife got the Vegan Asian Salad and it looked fantastic. It came with a couple of slices of their bread and my wife was nice enough to give me one-it was some of the best bread I’ve ever had. I dipped it in a little bit of her salad dressing that was left over and found that the dressing was excellent as well. I got the Italian Sausage Pizza and it was pretty good. I wish they’d list the size though. They only had the personal size and whatever size it was that I got. I figured I’d be bringing half home but it was only about a ten inch pizza if I had to guess, so unfortunately I’m not eating cold pizza tonight. The soups of the day listed as we walked in looked great and my 10 year old was excited about the tomato basil in a bread bowl. Unfortunately they’d already run out of all three of their soups. This disappointed my daughter. She split a cheese pizza with my other daughter. If I went back, I’d skip the pizza and get a sandwich or salad. The sandwiches looked awesome. Very nice employees.

Silke’s food is fine, though their baked goods and desserts are delicious. The food is simple and there is a wife variety of things to choose from. i’ve had a couple different things and have never been blown away. The sweets and breads are very yummy though. The atmosphere is very casual, and as another reviewer mentioned, it looks kind of like someone’s grandmother’s cottage. There’s a little kid’s play area in one corner Service is usually friendly, though it can be slow. What bothers me is that the last time we went for lunch, it was pretty busy. Half the tables were sitting empty and needing to be bussed. We bussed one so we could sit, which wasn’t a big deal, but I noticed that 3 – 4 staff members were taking their lunch outside together. Normally, that wouldn’t really matter, but there was a large line almost out the door, and people waiting for tables to be cleaned. It wasn’t a practical time to take a break, and it didn’t make sense that so many people were on break during a lunch rush. Rant over. Decent place to grab lunch in Clarksville, and probably one of the better non-chain restaurants here.

Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! This is a nice, family friendly restaurant. It even has a play area for kids. Love the casual atmosphere and even more the amazing food and desserts.

Heaven… I’m in heaven… Everything about this place is wonderful! From the art and photography on the wall to the sweet German frau behind the counter who took our order.(She gave our kids little finger cookies to snack on while they waited!) The Unilocal page erroneously stated that this was a $(1 money sign) establishment. It is definitely a $$ in our book. The line at noon on Saturday was pretty long and the café was packed! I noticed some people who came in behind us having to wait for tables. There were plenty of highchairs. The food was outstanding! It wasn’t all German fare either. I was hoping to be able to order some Beef Rouladen but it wasn’t on the menu. I ended up with the most delicious Reuben ever. The pumpernickel bread was what made it. My husband ordered the Fromage sandwich and loved it. Kids shared the herbed turkey sandwich. We ordered the vegetarian vegetable soup and the chicken and wild rice soup. Both were outstanding, but were also an extra $ 3 or so. We also ordered the chocolate crumb cake with cherry filling. Oh my. Our order came to just under $ 50. The service was fast and very friendly. Food was out of this world good! Atmosphere is a 10! I felt like I was in Deutschland! We will be back to check out the deli very soon.

Absolutely amazing German bakery! Unfortunately(or fortunately?) I found this bakery on the last day of my business trip. Otherwise, I may have been dining here multiple times each day… Ask about the day old bread. I forget the details, but they offer a very nice discount after 4:00pm!

One of Clarksville’s best places as far as homey atmosphere and quality of the baked goods. My husband and I have discovered the Mediterranean sandwiches which are delicious and now we get them every time. The fruit is always fresh. The lattes can be a bit sweet, pastry is delicious. I didn’t care for a vegan cupcake that I tried on a whim, it was kind of hard to cut through, but I’m chalking it up to the types of ingredients they must use to make it vegan. The breads in the bakery section are delicious, especially the harvest seed rolls, the cheese/poppy sticks and the rosemary bread. My favorite pastry is the cherry cheese danish. The parking lot gets packed fast. Very kid and family friendly.

I’ve been here several times with friends and family and we’ve always had excellent food. I appreciate the variety of meat-free options and the desserts are wonderful. Well worth the wait if you get there when it’s crowded.

My husband and I love to try new places so to Silkes we went! First impression of walking in the door, it smelt so good! Just like fresh home cooking. The place was packed and there was a bit of a line, but to me that’s a good thing thinking that this place must be that good. Indeed it was! I had the Greek salad and it was divine! Definitely fresh ingredients, the feta was perfect! My husband had the German sandwich and he liked it a lot! We def want to come back and especially when it gets cooler here to try their soups in a bread bowl!

I keep coming back every year. Just recently July 2015. STILLGREAT! Love this place. OMG and the Vegan cupcakes. I am NOT vegan. I eat anything. But all they had left was a vegan lemon cupcake, I went late in the day & they sell out fast! Man I hesitantly got the cupcake. MMM so good I came back the next day for another! LOVETHEM.

I am vegan and it’s definitely a struggle to find restaurants in Clarksville that serve vegan food. BUT Silkes does! I had their black bean burger and it was AMAZING. loaded with veggies and super yummy. I also had the chocolate cherry crumble cake which is also vegan and delicious. LOVE. new favorite restaurant.

Silkes is one of my favorite places in all of Clarksville, and mainly because of; 1. Their coffee. 2. Their bread. As a European living in the U.S., I crave these two more than anything, since it can be ridiculously hard to find a decent espresso and some REAL bread. Silkes gives me both. Food is absolutely divine, but the coffee is the best part. I warmly recommend their German coffee as well as their espresso, which was very rich and intense; just the way I like it. The atmosphere is very«grandma’s summerhouse», which I thoroughly enjoy. Pictures and paintings on the walls are very pretty and contributes to the whole European feeling! Service can be very good and very bad, it really depends on who’s there that day. I’ve been met with both heartwarming smiles and grumpy faces. I’ve tried a lot of different things from their menu, my favorites being the vegan breakfast delight, the apple/brie-sandwich and their chocolate truffles. A HUGE plus for having a lot of vegetarian and vegan options, something rare in this part of the United State. And like I said; don’t miss out on the coffee. Just don’t.

Want a classic German bakery? This is the place! I’ve never had the sandwiches and lunch foods, but love the desserts and coffee. It’s a great place to get a whole birthday cake, specialty pies, and a german brew of coffee. We will return!

I had Phillip’s salad. Not much in the way of meat, but I really like the quality of the salad. The bread is fresh and had an awesome taste and texture to it. The coffee that I had with my meal was excellent. I asked for the largest and strongest they had– I needed a little extra for the day. A touch of chocolate in the coffee with a splash of creamer and 2 packets of Stevia? Amazing German coffee. My friends and I got there too late to look through their cakes and pasteries, but they did have some chocolates in the dining area. I’d go back if I were to revisit Clarksville. :-)

Food: I had a bite of the spinach sandwich and it was good but not great. Given the price I was expecting more. I will say their pastries are divine… and I enjoyed a regular German Coffee. Maybe I need to explore the menu a bit more… Ambiance: I love the set up and homey feeling this venue provided. It felt like grandmas country home. Customer Service: Horrible, this may be the reason why I never give this place a second chance. The cashier was grumpy, and almost berated me for calling a pastry the wrong name. Friendly staff can make all the difference.
