I had a burger which was just OK. It came with the same cheese that comes with the pretzels. However, my significant other had the tenderloin sandwich and it was amazing. I wish I would’ve got that instead. It was so tender. Will be coming back for that.

Great Irish pub ! The staff was very friendly and did a great job. I ordered some classic fried ravioli and they were on point for lunch! The menu had great choices of burgers, sandwiches and soups.

The location, patio and live music on Fridays make this spot unpassable. The menu is good, but not exceptional. Makes you reminisce of the great offerings of the Seven Gables Inn restaurant and celebrity chef David Slay.

I went there yesterday for dinner with my mom and sister. I really wanted to love this place. There is a courtyard that you can dine in that is adorable! Food: The appetizers were pretty good. The Pretzels were delicious and came with a mustard and cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was my favorite. We also got the Parmesan Garlic Fries. They were good, but nothing special. I wouldn’t get them again. For my entrée I had the Black and Bleu salad. Overall it was just okay, but it could have been great. The tenderloin was overcooked and the avocado wasn’t anywhere close to being ripe. It didn’t even look like an avocado– I was kinda grossed out. They really should just say they are out of avocados instead of serving ones that aren’t ready to be eaten. Drinks: The happy hour was 4 $ beers on tap and well drinks.(Tank 7 is on tap) Overall this place has real potential I suggest going for happy hour and sitting in the court yard. Stick to the appetizers and beer and you’ve got yourself a cheap and yummy happy hour!

We recently hosted an event at Molly Darcy for our son’s ordination. The entire process was a great experience from the planning to the actual evening. Stacy and the staff did a great job of making sure we were taken care of every step of the way. Our guests commented on the terrific food and laid back atmosphere. There were a couple of events going on, but Stacy managed to keep everything under control. We had a great evening and would highly recommend to Molly Darcy to others

Cute Irish pub located in the Seven Gables Inn. Having been to several pubs in Ireland, this U.S. version has pretty much captured the ambiance and décor — felt like we were in Doolin, Galway or Dublin! Nice selection of Irish whiskeys and ales, and the Irish coffee is sure to warm you up on a chilly day. In addition to American favorites, the menu does include some traditional Irish fare and daily special. For lunch we had the wild salmon and mash special plus the chicken pot pie. The pot pie had the biggest puff pastry crust I’d ever seen! Both dishes were very good — only comment was the pot pie could’ve used more pepper, but that was an easy fix! Great customer service, and friendly staff. We took advantage of the nice weather every time we stopped in and sat out front! Lots of locals appear to make this their watering hole of choice — another great recommendation.

I liked this place! It had an authentic feel and a good bar selection. We ordered the pretzels which were the best I’ve had. We really enjoyed our food too(fish and chips for him and chicken sandwich for me). Got pretty busy by the time we left around 7:30. We will definitely be going back sometime!

Absolutely horrible carry out service. So disorganized. Made us wait at least 30 minutes because they got our order wrong and then they didn’t even offer to comp is for the meal or offer any kind of apology.

Not sure why it took me so long to try this place. I like the décor, and they have a menu full of things I want to try. This time, however, I had the Muckross Chophouse Burger with soft cheddar. It wasn’t the soft cheddar spread I was expecting(like Trainwreck or Dooley’s), the the burger took over the entire sandwich — could barely taste the cheese. Might have used a little more seasoning. My friends loved their sandwiches though, and I look forward to trying more on this menu!

Nice little pub in Clayton. One of few places that stays open late on the weekends– that town was seriously dead! I wish we had come here to eat after seeing some of the pictures people posted– probably would’ve been way better than where we did eat! The bar has a lot of memorabilia to look at, including an apparent mug club? with mugs lining the whole ceiling. Service was good, prices were fair. I really enjoyed the irish mule I had! It was cold and delicious. Since it is connected to a hotel, the bathroom is a little bit far from the bar area(you pass a concierge desk, even!). Overall, nice experience and good times had by all!

Do you want mediocre food? Do you want a screwed up cooked to order burger? Do you want a «Rounding» charge applied to your bill to put you at the nearest five cents? Do you want your waiter to admit that he steals people’s change intentionally? Ok, perfect, this place is for you.

This was our first time here and it was enjoyable. We were staying in the adjoining hotel and this was the perfect stop after checking into our room after 8 hours on the road. We had the Irish Nachos as an appetizer. The lady had Guinness and I had a couple of IPA’s. One was a rye IPA from 4 hands that was stellar. It looked like a low pour(about 2−3oz low), so I ding a star for that. In a pub the beer should flow, so don’t be stingy. Our dinners were delicious. I had the rueben, which was good, but at $ 11 I was underwhelmed. I cannot recall what the lady had, but she was satisfied. If we are in the neighborhood staying at the Seven Gables Inn we will be sure to visit again, but I cannot say I would seek this place out over other offerings in the Clayton area or in surrounding areas of St. Louis.

I’ve always enjoyed Molly Darcy’s. My latest visit was a private rehearsal dinner after party and we all had a great time. The staff here is nice and always makes sure that your drink is full. Previous visits to Molly Darcy’s have been just as great. I remember their food being good, and they have a nice low key environment when you want to watch a cardinals game.

Great bar. Chill vibes, chill peeps. That being said, don’t order the nachos here. They’ll try and fool u with trickery by calling them«Irish nachos» but they are really just over salted potato chips with a heap of lettuce and diced tomatoes, and a very light coating of shredded mozzarella(served room temp). Good thinking Molly, we wouldn’t want to overdo the cheese on a plate of nachos. Ridiculous. Oh also there are little pieces of chicken on top, you’ll be lucky to get more than 3 or 4. Very rarely do I get such strong feelings of anger and regret after one bite, but Molly’s nachos accomplished that in a nanosecond.

How can you mess up a burger? Asked for well done, got charred on the outside and raw throughout the rest of it. After my wife finished eating hers, I sat patiently for 25 – 30 mins for them to get it right.(We were the only ones left in the restaurant) Not worth the wait — too greasy. No discount adjusted on the bill. Wont be back!

Great little Irish Pub/Restaurant right in center of Clayton. I’ve had great food, good beers and really like the small patio. Small and friendly… Have not experienced the quirky service other folks mentioned. Went here again summer 2013. Part of an old style hotel. Their steak sandwich won an award from the St. Louis Art Fair.

Came here last night for tenacious trivia. We arrived at about 7:30 for a Meetup and the place was completely empty to our surprise. My friend who was holding the meetup ended up getting sick at the last minute. She had asked one of our mutual friends to coordinate it for her. Jason and I arrived before he did, so we asked the manager if he was aware of the large amount of people who had RSVPed. Turns out the manager had no clue. Turns out it didn’t seem to be a problem either. The manager promptly set up 3 tables of 8 for us. 27 had rsvped, per usual, not everyone shows. It worked out great for the quantity of seats he provided. Plus he gave us all separate tabs too. Within 15 minutes of being there, it filled up to capacity. The Meetupers showed up along with the other patrons who were going to play. I ordered food and everyone else got their drink on. I ordered the peppered tenderloin sandwich with sweet potato fries. Gotta love my sweet taters! I was impressed. The meat was prepared with perfection and my fries were off the chain! I can fully understand why it says on the menu that it is «award winning». It’s a bit steep in pricing, but totally worth it in my opinion. $ 13 well spent. Jason got the potato soup that consisted of leeks, onions, bacon, and of course, potato. He said it was«ok». Comparable to other places, he desired cheese in it or ideally for it to have tasted better. The one bite I had of it, I found it quite good. He didn’t think it was worth the $ 5 though. He thought it had about the same quality as St. Louis Bread Company’s. Harsh critic, maybe? Ambiance of this place reminds me of one of my favorite pubs I used to regularly visit while I lived in Ireland. It’s very quaint with a true gastropub feel to it. Adjacent to Molly’s is the bed and breakfast. I’m not sure what the pricing is for that, but I do know it is called the Seven Gables Inn. I like it. 4 stars, indeed! As the Irish would say, «Sláinte!»

Last night was my first time at Molly Darcy’s and it was rather unfortunate. The party I was with decided to sit in the courtyard, which was a lovely area. And while the menu was limited, in my opinion, I did enjoy the Celtic chopped salad. The little chunks of salami and the sweet but light dressing really satisfied. And the chicken was pulled pieces of the most tender and juicy chicken I’ve ever had in a salad. The entire problem came down to the service. Our waiter was friendly enough but at the end of the evening when everyone asked for checks, he would only bring out a few at a time. His reason being that he didn’t have enough black booklets for all of our checks. When several people said we didn’t need the booklets, just bring the checks, he refused. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I waited a half hour to get my check and when I did it was wrong so I had to wait another 10 – 15 minutes and even follow the waiter inside to make sure I could just pay and get out of there. Now, I understand I was with a group of 10+ people but I can’t believe it took that long to get a check and pay. While the salad and setting had me happy at the beginning of my experience, the bad service was enough to have me steamed when I left.

Ambience is a big part of the appeal of Molly Darcy. Attached to the Seven Gables Inn in Clayton, it’s is a very nice pub replica. As for comparison to the real thing, I’ve never been to Ireland, but I’ve visited a fair share of English pubs. This one is way more fresh and clean, but for most people, that’s not what you’re after. I guess you just can’t fabricate that 300-year-old pub patina. I definitely did come away with the opinion that this is a great place to come and meet friends, maybe watch a ballgame and throw back a few beers and some pub grub. We brought the little one this time, although it’s not the greatest place for kids, since it really does have that pub atmosphere. On this drizzly night, it was just us and a few older couples, so it was no rowdier than the nearest diner. We had the fish and chips and Guinness Stew. Both were excellent. The stew was really just everything I hoped it would be. If you think you might like something like this, with big chunks of roast beef, potato, carrots and celery, it qualifies as a must-try. I’m pretty sure nobody in town does it any better than this. The fish and chips were also very high quality. The server said they were rated the best in the St. Louis area. Not so sure about that — I’d have to give the nod to the American Legion hall in Collinsville. It is quite good, though. For our daughter, we tried a pepperoni pizza. The toppings were pretty good, but the crust was pre-made and reminded me of a frozen pizza. Not recommended. I also wonder why they would bother to serve pizza with Provel when they are attached to a hotel that presumably hosts people from outside St. Louis. This just doesn’t seem like a good choice to me. Overall, though, if you’re looking for a pub, you could do a lot worse. I would probably give it 3 starts, but I’ll bump up one because that stew was just unbelievably delicious.
