I’ve actually never been here. I had to write to compliment the great customer service I just received over the phone. I’m use to calling up restaurants and people sounding like they don’t want to help but I called this location just to get a receipt for my boss. Stephanie picked up and was Awesome. I didn’t have much information to go by but she looked for me and then called another location because apparently I had the wrong location. The service industry is not an easy one and I applaud anyone who has the patience to deal with customers and maintains a wonderful positive attitude. Thank you Stephanie! BTW my boss did tell me he loved the food. :)

Probably one of the better Ruth’s Chris in the country. The lobster voodoo appetizer is one of the best seafood starters I’ve had in St. Louis. The sizzling plates are always a nice touch on the steaks.

Absolutely well deserved 5 stars. I’ll never be able to afford a meal like this again but it was the best meal/dining experience I’ve ever had. The staff must have some incredible training or somehow every nice person wants to work at Ruth’s Chris. I felt genuinely welcomed. Had the ribeye medium rare with cream spinach. Came with a Caesar salad and chocolate espresso dessert. Boyfriend got the special filet mignon cut with a hashbrown side. I tried both. Insane. Wow. Our waiter was Chris. He was delightful and attentive. Like I said, they must be eating rainbows and playing with puppies in the back. I would go out of my way to have him as a server again. Chris, if you see this, thank you again!!! We were celebrating my bf’s 30th. Everyone knew and wished him happy birthday. He also got a yummy dessert with a candle. It was nice(and delicious). Everything was perfect. Just wonderful. If you can afford it, go. If you can’t afford it, go anyway and figure it out. It’s worth it!

Can’t say enough about my experiences at this place. Yes, it is pricey, but really their prix fixe menu has always been the perfect amount of food at what I consider a very reasonable price for the quality they deliver. The only thing that could make this place better is if it were a little less pretentious. I would eat here far more often if it were a more laid back atmosphere.

I was so looking forward to an amazing dinner and date night with my husband. However , The minute we walked in the door after making a reservation and explaining to hostess we had one… we were told«open seating at bar» we walked away super confused and after I made sure my husband spoke with hostess again — we asked and reiterated we had a reservation and wanted to sit outside. Service was a little better until we ordered received Our meal in a promptly matter– but then we were Ignored for close to 45 minutes after waitress Catalina dropped desert menu. All we wanted to order was an espresso — good amazing but service absolutely miserable we also caught her rolling her eyes not cool.

We were celebrating a birthday. Our reservation was kind of late(8:30) so we were the last people there. We did not feel rushed at all. Our waiter was so attentive but not overbearing. Great food served on sizzling hot plates, which is one of their signature traits. A very nice bottle of wine that wasn’t too expensive accompanied our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

First time at Ruth Chris and I enjoyed it very much. I had the 22 ounce cowboy cut ribeye with cremini mushrooms. The steak was cooked perfect and it came out on a 500 degree plate. The service was excellent.

Had a great steak during restaurant week in Clayton had an 8oz sirloin rare an it was aawesome! Amazing flavor and cooked perfectly, an had a side of mashed potatoes that was great as well. Only problem was our waiter he would kind of ignore us or wouldnt give us a chance to read the menu. I guess since it was restaurant week maybe he thought we couldn’t afford to eat there on regular night. Other than that everything else was alright.

I had the 7oz Fillet, Oscar style. with broccoli and garlic mash. the steak itself was extremely tender and delicious. the garlic mashed potatoes were good. The crab on top of my steak was cold and the asparagus with it was a bit underdone. I could not even tell there was Béarnaise sauce on it. I doubt I will go back. For the price, I expected a better experience. I would recommend Stoney River instead.

Great food! Started with the Caesar salad it was delicious– crisp and just the right amount of dressing. Hubby had the lobster bisque, it was ok but fishy tasting which I guess makes sense :) Next I had the tuna appetizer, it was fatty but the sauce was very tasty. Hubby had the petite filer which he loved. It was cooked just how he asked. We shared the mushrooms and lobster Mac n cheese– phenomenal! It however was my moms bday which we called in a reservation for and let everyone including waited know and they didn’t do anything special. No silly song, cocktail or dessert. Bummer

We came to celebrate a birthday, and I have never had such poor service, let alone at a fine dining restaurant. Our server took our drink order promised to speak with Chef about a special request. However, we waited for over 15 minutes(with menus closed) for him to come back and check on us. Finally he returned, but unfortunately had forgotten to speak with Chef and then had to go check before we could order. Our server pushed us to try and change our NY strip and rib-eye steaks to the bigger bone in sizes. Felt like I was being pushed as our server tried to pad the check with higher priced steaks. Once we finally ordered, our salads came reasonably quick. Our server didnt know which person ordered which salad and seemed very confused(seriously!!!, 3 salads for 4 people?!?). Then, one salad was completely wrong(wrong dressing and bacon was not held) and had to be sent back. It seemed like he hadn’t checked his tray prior to bringing it out to our table. I would say that our steaks were prepared correctly by Chef. And was honestly the best ribeye steak out of all my experiences at Ruth Chris. The meat was trimmed well and was perfectly cooked. The rest of our party had their steaks prepared well and enjoyed them immensely. Not once did our server see who wanted a second diet coke, or refill any waters. I had to point out our empty water glasses and ask for refills when he came to inquire about desert. Always frustrating when the basics are forgotten, but absolutely devastating for a fine restaurant. I was also surprised that we were never asked about coffee or tea to accompany our chocolate duo desert. I can almost guarantee our server didn’t care that we were celebrating a birthday. All around us multiple tables were having issues with steaks improperly cooked, salads being wrong or things being missed. I saw the GM checking on people, but never came to our table to even check on us. Next time we will probably choose Flemings instead!

Won’t go back! The only service was surly service. Wait staff ignored our guests’ requests. All 9 steaks were cooked medium rare regardless of how they were ordered. Salads came out before appetizers. Water and tea were not refilled. Shrimp omitted from orders. Sides came out sporadically. Coffee ordered but never served. Drinks ordered but never served. Waited TWO hours for entrees. Most orders were wrong. Manager gave lame excuses. Did I say I won’t go back!!!

We compare all steaks to theirs. So far, we haven’t found a new favorite. I. Also enjoy their fish and wine selection. A great night out preferred without the kids, but they like eating here too!

I love that I can always count on Ruth’s Chris for a lovely meal. I prefer this location to the downtown location(better ambience and closer to me). BF and I enjoy coming here from time to time for date night or to celebrate a special occasion. Service is always wonderful. Everyone from hostess to server to table assistant to manager make sure you have a positive dining experience. If you are celebrating something, they will comment(happy birthday, congratulations, etc.). This is a nice little touch. I always forget that their portions are huge. Everything is server a la carte. Boyfriend and I usually share and appetizer and/or salad and then get our own entrees and one side. When ordering, I always think«maybe we should get two appetizers/our own salads/two sides.» By the time food starts arriving, I’m always glad I didn’t. I am rarely able to save room for desserts which are incredible. I used to get a steak every time I was here but have gone for the crab cakes the last couple of times. They’re really incredible and are served sizzlin’ like the steaks. When I do get a steak, I usually get a filet. Love the oscar style preparation but also really like the«simpler» gorgonzola crusted preparation too. Tough choices!

Ruth’s Chris has been recommended to me for years, and I only just recently went. Food and service were outstanding, and I look forward to going back. Soup of the Day was Lobster Bisque = 4.5÷5(could have only been better w/small bits of lobster) Complimentary Bread and Butter = 4.5÷5(Outside was crustier and I prefer soft, some of ours slightly burned) 8 oz Sirloin with Oscar Topping(Bearnaise, Crab Meat, Asparagus) = 5⁄5(would definitely pay extra for Oscar topping again — it was delicious, lots of crab) Creamed Spinach = 5⁄5(I am not a fan of creamed spinach but tried this based on a recommendation and was pleasantly surprised) Mashed Potatoes = 4.5÷5(pretty darn good) Crème Brulee = 4⁄5(decent size, a little looser on the consistency than I’m used to, good flavor) Want to come back to try the Lobster Voodoo. That seemed really popular. Pics to be posted.

I came here last night with a friend for Clayton restaurant week. It was my first time coming here. My experience was not the best. I came 10 minutes before my reservation time and was told that they were behind. We weren’t seated until 10 minutes after my reservation time of 8:15. Not too big of a deal. Our waiter was very nice however we experienced long wait times for the remainder of our 3 course meal. The wait was so noticeable that the two tables closest to us who were each seated after us, both received their meals long before us. One of the couples even left while we were still eating our dessert, having already received their dessert. To make matters worse, when I finally received my 8 oz sirloin steak which I ordered medium well was rare. I had it sent back and talked to the manager. He was apologetic but made excuses. He said«well we don’t know how those tables ordered their steaks, they may have ordered them rare.» I responded to him with«well that’s irrelevant if I ordered my steak medium and got my steak much later than them and mine was rare!» As a way to make up for the poor service, he offered me another glass of wine on the house. I was not pleased but I accepted it. The food was good, once it came correctly. The mashed potatoes and steak were well prepared. However, it is hard to say that I will return because I was very disappointed with my service and the excuses from the manager. I accept that it was restaurant week so they were busy, but I look at this occasion as a way to promote their business, and I’m uncertain if they succeeded in that effort with me.

Disappointed for a special occasion. My husband and I celebrated my birthday last weekend and I chose Ruth’s Chris. In the past, my mother has taken us there(she loves it) for special occasions to the locations in Biloxi, MS and Mobile, AL. I’ve also visited the one in Irvine, CA. I thought it was a safe bet and I craved a steak and lobster duo. We arrived and were greeted by the hostess who asked which one of us was celebrating a birthday. We were seated and a Mardi Gras bead necklace was placed on the table. The waiter greeted us and commented on the birthday as well. We started the lobster appetizer($ 20) ordered the pre fixe menu that comes with salad, steak & lobster, a choice from 2 sides, and«dessert duo.» We enjoyed the meal and the portions were great. After our entrée plates were cleared, we were handed a dessert menu. We were both confused because we saw«dessert duo» as part of the pre fixe menu and generally this IS part of a pre fixe. We looked through the menu and chose something, assuming maybe we get a choice. We chose banana crème pie. We then found out they were out of it… bummer, but okay. I went with another great choice, crème brulee. The dessert came. Nothing special. We shared it and were already showing disappointment. This was my special occasion. We were celebrating a lot that weekend(a new move, 2 new jobs, birthday, belated anniversary). The bill came and everything was on there. No complimentary dessert for a birthday? Seriously? After spending almost $ 200 without gratuity. I wanted to ask about the dessert duo but my husband stopped me. We both already felt deflated and he was probably worried I would not have asked nicely(I would have, for the record). Disappointing for such a huge corporation. We should have gone mom & pop but I had had such good experiences in the past with every other Ruth’s Chris we had been to.

I now understand the price difference in Crab Cakes based on where you are. These crab cakes, 90% crab 10% filler, absolutely perfect and flavor spot on. The lyonnaise potatoes, while they were good with the carmelized onions, they were a tad crispier than I would have prefered. I sat at the bar and I will say, it’s interesting to see how the wait staff are so much more attentive to regulars vs. newbys. Guess I didn’t make the cut.

Oh Ruth, you’re way too good to me! I know I can always rely on you for a fantastic meal, and once again, you came through. My husband and I prefer this location over the downtown location, as it has a more classy steak house feel to it with the dark woods and deep red tones, while downtown is more trendy with neon lights and such. The portions here are large, and many items such as the salads, sides, and desserts can easily be shared. That being said, my husband and I started our meal by splitting a wedge salad. It included the typical wedge ingredients such as bacon, blue cheese, and blue cheese dressing, and I highly recommend it if you like blue cheese… they certainly don’t skimp on those tasty crumbles! We also split a side of cheesy, gooey, au gratin potatoes that were nothing less than excellent. They perfectly complemented our two petite filets. The steak is served on a 500 degree plate and comes to the table sizzling, which I believe is the sound that translates to «Eat me!» in steak talk. To end our meal, we ordered a chocolate mousse cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust. It was sooo rich… and sooo good! :) The service here is always top-notch. They want to ensure you are happy with your meal from start to finish. Due to this(and the wonderful food), we will most definitely be back again.
