Mandarin Chinese Restaurant

Yum yum chicken with extra yum sauce… think that says it all.
It has been a little while since we ate here. I have to say it was much, much better then our last visit. The buffet isn’t huge, but there is no American, Mexican, or Japanese just Chinese! Last several times the food seem to be all batter no meat. Today was far from that.
They used to have a bourbon chicken that was very good. Didn’t see it today, but they had a new item «yum yum chicken». It was plain chicken pieces that had been fried in a peppery batter. But it had a sauce, it was like a hoisin sauce, very good!
The buffet stayed full the whole time we were there. They refilled everything, and it was very fresh. My wife had the fried rice, lots of pork, egg, and veggies. I had the lo mein which was very good. I didn’t like the egg roll or spring roll. Some of the sweet and Sara chicken had to much batter and seemed to need to be cooked a little longer. Also the general Tso and scallion chicken were a little too similar in flavor.

The buffet is very good. The selection is a little small, but everything they do is delicious and fresh.

My husband got some take out from here and saved me some. I didn’t have it fresh– I had it the next day reheated, but usually chinese food hold really well anyway.
The food was okay. He got mongolian shrimp and beef, and pan fried dumplings.
It wasn’t my favorite by any means, but it was fine. There must have been a big portion because he ate some for dinner and we shared the rest of it the next day and it was still a lot. That’s good because the shrimp were tiny, and the total was $ 17, which seems steep for the quality, which was just alright. Not bad, but not great either.
The dumplings were good but not particularly special, at least reheated. The sauce was pretty good though. It’s really close to the Super 8 in Clemmons, so that was very convenient :)

This place is great. The food is fresh and made right in the store. I really like their egg rolls as they’re super massive and delicious compared to any other place.

I use to love coming here, but in my last 2 visits it has really went downhill. Both times around 5pm they had NO food! How can you come to an all-​you-​can eat buffet with no food! The first time the hostess said it would be ready in 10 minutes, so we waited. After bringing out one dish every 5 minutes we got to eat. The 2^nd time we didn’t wait. When we walked in all the lights were off (but a few) and they wait staff looked liked they were napping. Never going again.

Loosen your belt and go for the buffet!
