Can’t go anywhere else but here, for fear of everyone else’s pizza falling short. Calzones are amazing too!!!

The Grand Apizza Special is our all time favorite pizza out of every other pizza we’ve tried around CT. The crust is baked to perfection. The sauce is like no other and truly makes all the difference. The special toppings are hearty with veggies and meats are very satisfying. Daughter swears by the BBQ chicken pizza. It is our go to place for take out. We dined in recently and the calzones were ginormous and flaky and delicious(the small is big enough for two!) Stuffed shells were rich and filling. Garlic bread was plentiful and cheesy goodness. Chicken florentine was tender and flavorful and a large portion. This family run restaurant is the pride of Clinton’s restaurant options.

Well. 2nd time there, 1st was 2013 I thought i liked it then. However a completely different experience there was +/-about ALL!. We pulled into the parking lot & on door was a big sign«No credit cards/debit cards» so we left 2 get $ @ bank ATM. Bizarre that they wouldn’t take credit cards most places do nowadays I mean basically everywhere even if there’s spend. They do have ATM inside wefout afterwards BUT someone said that it is often not working + high fees. Were 2 couples leaving w/3 tables + us we had the most 6 ppl &2 waitresses @ 5pm. Seated fast & browsed menu– NOT Extensive ex: NO tortellini or gnocchi. Many of us wanted water & coke waitress did bring pitchers of both but never refilled them & gave small paper cups but they were coffee cups w/no lids/straws. Just 2 ppl got actual plastic cup/straw 4 unsweet tea & Birch beer. Dinners don’t come w/a salad but may have if you ordered a daily special but thats written on like a dry erase board & there was maybe 4 to choose from none of us ordered them + there on menu any way. For the kids we didn’t order kids meals we got 2 orders of chicken nuggets their meals & we did order 5 side salads so cost Xtra & maybe 6 dressings but no ranch/Caesar/HM w/salads brought the kids nuggets instead of w/dinners + ½?,& loaf«Italian bread» store bought def. not freshly made cold/room temp. cut in 4 – 5 pieces. There were 6 of us… so basically 1 child a piece &1 ate some the rest was not eaten. I was looking 2 order shrimp parmesan which was why we went back BC I had there B4& it’s a meal that I love that I’ve gotten all the time in NY, LI where I was born/lived until June 2012. most places in New York it’s fried shrimp or you can get fried /unfried served on top of spaghetti with red sauce & melted mozzarella cheese. 4 some reason can’t find it anywhere on the shoreline. On the menu they have spaghetti & shrimp w/red or white sauce $ 15.95. So I asked the waitress could I get the spaghetti & shrimp but make it parm… she looked @ me like I had 2 heads & walked away went behind counter & spoke w/the 3 cooks our table was right across from the pickup /pay counter. She came back said we don’t have fried shrimp he doesn’t have time to bread & fry shrimp. I said can’t he just make the shrimp & spaghetti w/red sauce & melt cheese on it? She says well Parmesan doesn’t mean it has to come on pasta we can just give you the shrimp sauce cheese in a dish. & I said well were getting ckn parm. w/spaghetti but also eggplant parm but that comes alone what’s the difference? I explained to her basically how it so we served over pasta Usually with your choice of fried or not. So I ordered that + 2 «small» calzones are humongous about a. med. pizza folded in ½…1 had meatball inside &1 w/sausage. they feed at least 2 – 3 people so my sister + husband had food to take home. BUT… Pizza orders went in and out it seems like they had to go and catch the shrimp, the chicken, the eggplant from a farm. It took 4ever 2 get the food in the meantime 4 other tables came in 4 – 8 ppl. Now… when food arrives kids are antsy hot as can be. My food was so watery whether they didn’t drain my spaghetti enough and/or the shrimp my sauce was so watered down & not much there. Meanwhile the chicken & eggplant had lots of sauce thick & tasty. I only eat a little bit thank God I had a salad because it was bland I figured I’d take it home & I could add sauce spice it up. Basically after the waitress gave us our food we didn’t see her again until we had to grab her 2 ask 4 the. We decided we were going to walk down the street 4 ice cream so I figured I’d use the bathroom B4 we left HATE that a BIG place has 1 bathroom 4 men &14 ladies. Some places make them universal but they didn’t. To begin with the whole restaurant is just very blah needs to be updated there is a nice painted mural on the wall by the back bar but that’s about it. So I had to wait to use the ladies room & when I went in of course bad lighting. When I was done I washed my hands I went to get paper towels I got the last sheet dried my hands and dropped it on the floor I bent over to pick it up and I wanted to vomit when I saw how disgusting the entire base of the toilet was & floor around it. When I was walking back 2 table our waitress was behind the bar I said to her I just wanted 2 let U know there’s no more paper towels in the ladies room & she says well there’s a dryer & honestly I said I didn’t stick around to even notice it. So she said well, I’ll let them know that they need paper towels don’t put them in I guess whenever they get a chance!!!

This place has the best pizza! Thanks to my job, I’ve had to live in various places around the country but every time I come back to my home state of CT, I always go here for pizza! They have excellent sauce and clearly know what they’re doing! For starters, the crust is perfectly baked and is always crisp and a bit crunchy the way it should be! Not doughy or fluffy or undercooked like some places do it. Yes sir, this is the big leagues when it comes to pizza. No JV or amateurs here. And the toppings are just the right amount. Not overloaded but not skimpy either. Living in places that don’t know pizza really make me appreciate how good this place is and how good I had it growing up. I guess since I don’t live nearby at the moment I’ll just have to stick with pizza chains out on the west coast or anywhere else that isn’t lucky enough to have the real thing like at Grand Apizza.

Great pizza. We stopped here after shopping at the outlets and got the margarita pizza. I’m not a pizza snob but I’ve had good pizza before and this hit the spot — definitely recommend.

My husband and I recently moved to Clinton so have been trying to find our«go to» restaurants. We stopped and ate at Grand Apizza when we were house hunting and had the grinders, which were delicious. Once we moved into our house, we had a couple pizzas and some wings delivered for the family as they helped us unpack. Unfortunately, all of the food was very overdone and no one was happy with it. We were disappointed, but decided to give them another try since it was only 1 order and on a weekend night. The second time we ordered delivery, the pizza was not burnt and was good, but I can’t say it was spectacular. However, I do go here regularly for their calzones. I’ve never liked ricotta cheese, but theirs is to die for. It’s amazing. I absolutely love the calzones… and there’s always leftovers. The primary downside of using them as our«regular» delivery joint is that they don’t take credit cards. So I think we’ll keep looking for a go to place for pizza, but I’ll always come back for the calzones.

Not impressed by my one meatball to go dinner. Really? And to make things worse its all beef per the restaurant. no lamb or veal in that lonely meatball which would be a better excuse. Funny thing is for 4.50 you get 2TWO meatballs as a side! Defiantly only keeping this place as my go to pizza stop.

Stopped and picked up pizza after a soccer game yesterday. Had the broccoli rabe and sausage pizza and an antipasto salad and the kids had fried dough. Everything was delicious. Great pizza and they have a gluten free menu so it will definitely stay in the rotation.

I’ve ordered a pizza from here nearly every Sunday eve of the summer before heading back to NYC from the CT shore. The delicious pizza even lessens the Sunday night blues.

Best pizza on the shoreline! It is very comparable to New Haven, especially the plain pie(has sauce & parmesan only). After trying every spot within the Clinton/madison area, this is our favorite by far!

Up there with Pepe’s in New Haven! If you are looking for the best New York style pizza, look no further. The crust is perfection! Crispy and chewy — absolutely love it. Try their margarita or bacon/onion — you won’t be disappointed. The restaurant is okay. I prefer to order a pizza to go. It’s family run and operated — the people are friendly.

Grand Pizza is the best pizza place ever! Spicy, sauce and cheese evenly spread. Though I hate one thing: you can’t use debit or credit cards kinda stinks. So If you only have money, I’d say you’d like here but if you only have debit, it might not be the way to go.
