Cinco estrellas todo el camino!!! I am in carne asada heaven over here, all thanks to a thread about where to find the best Mexican food. Multiple suggestions were tossed around by Unilocalers, and then this one popped up as a suggestion from Robin E. on this place, I think I was in here the very next day, and I only wish I had been sooner. The food was so good, that I went back the very next day because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I will just get it out of the way now and say that the food is SUPERAMAZING and the service is warm and friendly. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out if you want some authentic Mexican food. There is no mystery meat in their dishes and all of the ingredients seem really fresh. The menu is endless, so it might be a challenge on what to choose. I will dive right in on the dish that won my heart… the carne asada!!! This stuff right here is THEBEST carne asada that I have had in ages. On the first day the meat was so moist and tender, almost like a filet mignon, it melted in your mouth and you could cut it with a fork. It had a great grill flavor, a flavor that similar places lack. There was no fat on this meat and they give you a decent portion. You can get the carne asada by itself, or you can pay about $ 1 more and choose a burrito, enchilada, tamale or chimichanga(your choice of meat) to accompany your meal. On the first order, we chose a chicken enchilada. The enchilada was very flavorful, smothered in a typical red sauce… the chicken was shredded and tender. The carne asada was the scene stealer though, and I could not get enough… hence my visit the very next day. The meal mentioned above is accompanied with beans and rice, you can choose between refried or whole beans. They also serve it garnished with pico de gallo as well as guacamole. You can also choose homemade flour or corn tortillas. I also got the Enchiladas Poblanas… fantastic as well, however it has a little kick to it which can be a deal breaker for me at times. On the menu it says ONE large enchilada, but when it comes out on the plate, it is actually 2 regular sized enchiladas. The enchiladas are filled with chicken, and then topped with a sour cream and cream cheese-poblano sauce. This meal is also served with your choice of rice and beans. The corn tortilla used for the enchiladas were really good, and the chicken inside was also moist. I also like the fact that in both enchiladas that there were no fatty parts of the chicken, just nice white meat. The Super Burrito(w/your choice of pork, chick, shredded or ground beef w/rice, beans and topped w/lettuce, tom, crema and guac) is a really solid choice, and it is big too… the length of the plate. I couldn’t get the carne asada out of my head, and I even contemplated getting a to-go order of it, but didn’t. So… I went back the very next day, it is that good!!! I ordered the Carne Asada y Mas, and this time I went w/the shredded beef chimichanga. The chimichanga’s breading was a little too thick and fried for my liking, but I did appreciate the chunks of beef(like a pot roast) and chunks of potatoes… the real deal. When my food came out, I was a little bummed. It didn’t have the same moist look to it like it did the day before, and upon further inspection it seemed to be crispy on the bottom side. I was a little bummed, was my experience the day before too good to be true??? Surprisingly it was easy to cut and all the ‘crispy’ stuff did was enhance the flavor… it was not overcooked or dry ATALL. I love the taste of meat from the grill, and this meal just sealed the deal… they have AMAZING carne asada. I will keep coming back here for this alone!!! The service was good, and I had a different waiter on both days… so it wasn’t just the same one being nice since he had seen me a day earlier. The waiter on the 1st visit spoke perfect English, the waiter on the 2nd… not so much, but it was all good since I know a word or two(gracias a mi padre) lol. They were very efficient and couldn’t have been friendlier. I cant forget to give honorable mention to the Tampiquena. It is also carne asada dish, but this one is served with bay shrimp and covered in a cream cheese sauce and melted cheese… drooooool!!! They will also serve you some fresh chips and salsa, and it is unlimited. However, I ordered the guacamole… and it is a must order. If this was any fresher, it would still be on the vine. It is really good, and the fact that it is only $ 2.50 makes it taste even better. I highly recommend this place!!! Is it the best out there??? I would say it is some of the best that I have had in a LONG time, despite a ton of Mexican offerings in the Valley!!! Prices are reasonable for the quality of their food. I am already planning my next visit for some more amazingly delicious food and friendly service.(damn Unilocal and their limits, wont let me post everything)

First off, I don’t know if 2 stars is appropriate but here goes. I went here to eat but they were closed before the time listed on the Unilocal page. We showed up at 925 on a Saturday and they were closed. :(

My friend was adamant that we had to visit this place for dinner. Now I like to eat Mexican food so I admit I can be a little picky when it comes to a new restaurant. We were seated immediately and received the chips, salsa and slaw promptly. I have to admit the slaw was very good! Chips and salsa amazing as always. Everyone at the table got enchiladas, I got cheese enchiladas being vegetarian. They were hot and very tasty. I would say overall it is a good place to eat, and is a quaint little place. 3 stars for being an average Mexican restaurant.

Just moved to this side of town not too long ago and have been trying to find a good Mexican restaurant. I’ve tried a handful already and this one is my favorite so far. Service was on point and the food was great!

Visiting Fresno on business and was in the mood for Mexican food. This restaurant had the highest rating. Within 30 sec I was seated asked for my drink order and had basket of fresh crisp chips and the die-luscious cabbage salsa. I decided to order the carne asada and crispy enchilada. I didn’t plan to eat everything, just taste and enjoy… That was the plan. Everything was sooo good it was soon gone. The beans, rice, meat and. Crispy enchilada were excellent. Highly recommend the green sauce, it was phenomenal! I will definitely stop here again tomorrow morning before I leave Fresno.

Waiter seemed lost and confused. Food was pretty good, I really like the fajitas. Chips were a little bland.

We were seated quickly. I ordered fish tacos with rice and beans. The fish was dried out and hard. Not enough rice and beans or toppings to put in my tacos. The Fajitas were okay, nothing special. The vegetables were very soggy. My sis enjoyed her meal. The churros were good but could use more sauce. Won’t order the fish tacos again.

Cabbage salsa with chips were tasty. The entrees were delicious– we had Chicken mole which was made with a good blend of sweet and spice and a enchilada carne Asada burrito. For dessert the Churros with chocolate and whipped cream were fresh, hot and delicious. The service was good for the table of 11 that we had.

This place is amazing. The Owner, Carlos, is an incredibly nice and hard working man. The food is unlike any other chain restaurant. We go all the time… delicious.

Amazing atmosphere! Beautiful tables! The jumbo margaritas definitely gave me and my family a good buzz! The waiters spoke Spanish and that was a lot of fun to speak with them! Service could have been a little faster but they were busy making quality food and we can appreciate that. We will definitely be back, the food was amazing, and we all had a great time!

I finally found a good Mexican restaurant in Fresno/Clovis. I’ve tried multiple places and it wasn’t comparable to the Mexican places in Modesto/Riverbank. The salsa is to die for. Rice and beans play a major factor into my ratings so yes they are good! I will definitely be back. I usually don’t care about décor, but their décor makes me feel like I’m in Mexico; very traditional! I’d recommend it.

We had really high expectations for this place after reading some of the reviews. However, we were quite disappointed by what we experienced. I ordered the Mango Margarita, which was large but really sweet. I do not know if the size was worth the price but it wasn’t horrible. Then we ordered the cheese/chorizo appetizer which was one of the only reasons why this review remained at 2 stars. The taste was wonderful and we greatly enjoyed it. However, that is the last of where the excitement ended. I ordered a shredded beef today and a tamale, since they seemed to have great reviews. I knew, however, that it was not going to be pleasant because the tamale was covered with sauce and cheese! No, just no. The masa was very thick and the meat was very minimal. I wish that I would have had a better experience but it definitely was not!

Little hole in the wall Mexican food. The style of the place is exactly as the name suggests, Hacienda motif. Outdoor patio seating was cute. Food was just ok, I wasn’t blown away. We tried this place on a whim. We would go back and eat again but given a choice I would eat somewhere else.

I like the owner and the service. The owners really care about their business and it shows. Food is good… its not completely new take on mexican food, its just basically good and a good value. I think its better than most and I like the people and atmosphere much better than most.

I was craving cocido like my mom used to make when I had a cold, so I ordered it to-go from here. My mom’s not gonna like this, but it was better than hers, luckily she doesn’t know how to use Unilocal.I’ve also had the enchiladas and ceviche and it was all delicious. I love the homey feel of the restaurant and the staff are very friendly.

Sorry to report not so good food. just run of the mill. Ordered a dish with flank steak cut into slices. Very tough and dry. Too many onions in the special Mexican sauce. You will not see any Mexican customers. .all white folk. Sorry to say this place is off our list.

I have to say, I loved the décor! However, the dish I chose had much to be desired. I ordered the Chili Rellano meal. The batter tasted just like someone made an omelet and put a chili in the middle. That’s not my idea of how to make them. I mean, where was the cheese? Where was the fluffy batter? It was tough and rubbery. I swore it squeaked in my mouth like tennis shoes on linoleum. The beans were good, the rice was good. A little different but that’s to be expected as every family has their recipe, I just didn’t like it that much. Our Waitress was awesome and the Ice Tea was excellent! Will I go back? Of COURSE!!! I’ll go back to try another dish. I want to give this place another chance. I want to give the place another chance because it’s so cute and the location is good. It deserves another chance! Expect a follow-up review, I’m hoping to give it more than 3 stars. On a top note, they have this cabbage slaw-thing that they give you with your salsa and chips that’s really great! It would be really great on tacos or anything. It was«special» and that’s why I give it 3 stars, anything less would be wrong. Should you try this place? Of course! Just because I didn’t like one dish doesn’t mean the whole menu isn’t delicious! I’ll be back Hacienda Tequila. Save some salsa for me.

Fantastic food. We had the chili Colorado burrito and chili Colorado enchilada. So tender and flavorful. The owner was such a hard worker– short staffed but making sure everyone had drinks and waiting tables. Parking lot is too small and we had a hard time getting a spot. If you can get one, worth the wait. The bar isn’t a traditional American bar– no seats so you have to get a table to get a drink.

If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience with superb tasting food and traditional Mexican cocktails, look no further. This place is also irresistibly decorated in such an authentic Mexican décor, but not tacky or anything, more to the classy side– vibrant colors, wood carved chairs, sombrero hats as their light, it was just aesthetically pleasing. The service was above excellence, the owner himself would serve you, and he is a friendly, fast; the dining experience feels like your at home and not to mention the price was also inexpensive for the quality and portion of food. In the end is the food that matters, and the food in my opinion was one of the best Mexican food I’ve tasted not just Fresno but California as a whole. The parking is easy and free, plenty of parking on the backside of the restaurant. They also do offer takeout, just give them a call, they are open 10am to 10 pm, according to the owner, but just give them a call to make sure they are open before you plan to come to avoid disappointment. So as I sat down, I was served with a complimentary salsa with a kick of heat, perfectly toasted chips and also a cabbage salsa. I started my experience with a virgin margarita $ 4, it was really generously portioned in a tall blue conical glass, it has got to be the best virgin margarita I’ve tasted so far, it has the perfect balance of sweetness, in a light ice slush, and that aromatic fresh lime juice just hits your taste buds just perfect for a hot summers day, furthermore the salted rims just made it a step further delicious and just like a normal margarita except without the booze– which is awesome if you would like to enjoy a drink during a work lunch. For lunch I ordered the Hacienda especial $ 13.75 which was perfectly charcoal grilled jumbo shrimp served in an excellent gastronomic green tomatillo sauce that was so addictive and had additional mini shrimp cooked with the sauce, accompanied by fresh salad and tomato infused rice, also fresh corn tortillas served on this large gorgeous circular earthenware plate. The taste of the shrimp with the green tomatillo sauce was just amazing, the 8 large jumbo shrimp was perfectly grilled and had a nice springy texture with a hint of charcoal flavor, while the sauce, had a light tart taste from the lime and green tomatoes, with an excellent blend of spice, sweetness and spiciness, it is really one of the best tomatillo sauce I’ve tasted. The rice was perfectly seasoned and fluffy. Salad was crisp and ultimately fresh while tortillas had a homemade taste. The service was just excellent, it was fast– food and drinks served within 5 – 10 minutes of ordering, the server, which happens to be the owner was personally attentive and friendly. Overall a really great Mexican restaurant that lives up to its authentic promise. Definitely a fresno gem.
