There aren’t many fabric stores in Fresno, perhaps due to the fact that times are changing and everyone purchases their own clothes, drapes, pillows, and so on. As for me, I don’t make my own clothes like some medieval wench, but I do craft many items in my home and I still make Halloween costumes for my kiddos. Hancock Fabrics is the nearest fabric store to my home, so I usually shop here. The setup of the store makes it rather simple to find what I am looking for, which is a benefit when I need to do a quick grab and go. They have a vast array of patterns and designs and many helpful books with ideas for projects. The employees are very courteous and knowledgeable. I do wish they had more workers because almost every time I need some yards cut, there is a timely wait in line. Overall, Hancock Fabrics has some decent prices and sales, and the do also have a free club to sign up for which offers coupons and discounts. Hopefully this business will be around for a while because I am a continual customer who is a creature of habit.

SO, I have been going to fabric stores, funiture shopping and doing various other domestic things with my mom since I was two. I think it was all in an effort to make me the perfect stepford wife but that ain’t gonna happen anytime soon. However, her efforts paid off impart because by the time I was 10 I was sewing pajamas. Anyhow given my long history of visiting fabic and crafts stores I know a thing or two about quality establishments in this department. This Hancocks Fabrics store is right off of Shaw and Clovis next to a Grocery outlet. Appearance wise it’s nothing to brag about but if you know what your looking for it’s a great place to do business. I recently stooped by in an effort to find a pattern because I decided I wanted to make a blazer jacket. I usually visit the other Hancocks location or Joann’s so this was my first time here. The first thing that I noticed when I walked in was there was not a should to be found. No one was at the cash register, and as I perused the aisle and catalogs I did not see anyone. I started to think that rapture happened and I had been left behind because I have never seen an establishment where even the employees missing. Eventually I ran into a girl that worked here but it was after I had found what I need and went to get material cut for my pattern. I will say that this employee was friendly so that earned them half a star back! As far as selection goes I notice that this Fabric store did not have a huge selection of fabrics and two of the blazer jacket patterns that I wanted were sold out but for the size of the location their inventory was sufficient. I also loved the fact that all most all of their clothing patterns were on sale so I was able to get multiple patterns for project to complete throughout the year. #score In the end I had an Ok shopping experience at Hancocks Fabrics. Given, it was weird encountering an empty business but frankly shopping is my therapy time and I prefer to have queit during my therapy not chaos. Once an employee did teleport in she was friendly and very happy to help me. Also I got what I needed without having to stand in line because no one was around so I can’t complain about that!

I had been here once before and the gentleman helping me was very knowledgeable and helpful. He even went above and beyond to get me additional information that I needed. I need a few yards of fabric and decide to come here yesterday. Upon entering, the lady who was at the front looked at me come through the door, but never greeted me. I was looking around and going down each and every aisle without the worker ever approaching me and asking me if I needed help. As I was looking down another aisle, I heard the same worker greet someone who had just walked through the door, and asked«do you need help with anything?» Now, by this time I had been in the store for about 10 – 12 minutes going aisle by aisle without anyone ever acknowledging me. Once I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I went to a lady with a short hair cut who was at the cutting station, and showed her on my phone what I was looking for. She seemed annoyed that I was actually asking for help, and did not do any type of scan for the item in the system, but instead took me to the aisle where it, «would likely be,» and left me to fend for myself. By this time I was highly pissed off due to the lack of customer service. I picked out a fabric and took it back to the same lady at the cutting station for it to be cut. By this time I was no longer friendly or cordial. I just wanted to get the h*** out of the there. The lady then tried to engage me, but only because she wanted to sell me on some pin holder. I gave her the death stare and told her that I wouldn’t be needing anything else. I then take my fabric to the front register to pay. There was another woman in front of me waiting to be checked out as well. There was no one at the registers! Clearly, the people on the floor saw us waiting to be checked out. The lady who had been at the cutting station was now helping a customer find something, and the mute girl was at the cutting station. We waited 10 minutes without anyone coming to the registers before the lady in front of me stated to anyone in the store who would listen, «can we get rang up?!» It took another 5 minutes to get checked out after the two employees yelled to any other employee in the store who would listen. They have a good selection of fabrics, but I’d rather go somewhere who appreciates my patronage.
