We stumbled into this fascinating café while taking a walk on the lake. Ciara was very welcoming and provided excellent service! Great variety of seating, beautiful art decorating the walls, and a kids area full of toys!

Very nice place with an eclectic décor. We ordered four drinks. The service was fast… probably too fast. The coffee was to be extra hot as well as the tea. However they were only served lukewarm. Cannot give high marks if they can’t serve the drinks at the right temperature.

I decided to look up the word«punk» in the Unilocal search and current location. For sh*ts and gigs, and this was first thing that popped up! Lol… I definitely wouldn’t consider this«Punk», but for Coeur D’Alene, ID. I guess this is the closest thing! I’d say, this is the place alternative kids feel more at home than anywhere else here. But! This is a total Hippie Coffee Shop. Super loungey, couches and lazy boys everywhere, shower curtains to separate certain tables with Draped cloth. They have a decent sized music area, where I’m guessing they most likely do open mic nights and have your occasional band play. Office chairs with separating dividers, in a secluded room(in case you want to get intimate with yourself) for computers or reading. It’s a chill vibe for sure! If you lived in Santa Clara CA around 2006 – 07′ you’d be stepping into a time warp to the old Barefoot Coffee Roasters. Almost a spitting image! Anyway, coffee was eh alright(with some doctoring). They sell ice cream here too(didn’t care to try that), as well as have a Diedrich(roaster) 5 feet from that… If your looking for Chill, Artsy vibes in this town, this is your spot.

This place has friendly service, great coffee, and a great atmosphere. There are plenty of cozy nooks to chat with your friends. There is also a shared workspacee/conference room that you can reserve with your group or use individually if there are no reservations. It has small office nooks along the wall as well.

This used to be one of my favorite coffee places in CDA, even though their employees are sometimes beyond rude. The coffee was usually decent, never tried the food. I really liked that they always have art on the walls and that it’s not a generic place. Last weekend was the last time I’ll ever go there unfortunately. One guy(claiming to be the manager) who works there is the most rude employee I’ve ever had to deal with. He’s always that way but it’s so bad now that I can’t bring myself to allow him to accost me just to get a coffee. I’m honestly shocked that this person has a customer service job because he clearly hates people. I also saw him basically yell at a girl for bringing in her service dog… what??! If they hired better people and updated the gross furniture, I would think about going back. Update: So I checked the health code in this area and having a service dog is NOT a violation. It’s only a violation if an employee touches the dog and then goes back to working without washing their hands. The owner seems to post things like this to try and disprove our complaints. I did hear the service dog conversation and that employee asked non-legal questions to the dog owner and he was extremely rude and argumentative. The fact is that this coffee house has some issues that they need to resolve.

This is my second time here and it’s even better than the first. The atmosphere is always super relaxed with some form of arts(poetry readings, light music etc.) The coffee is amazing. Decided to try a Mexican mocha today, the barista said its a little spicy so I sort of second guessed myself. It literally tastes like I am drinking a ginger bread house!

I love this place! I’ve been coming here for a long time. It’s quirky and fun atmosphere. The coffee is roasted in house by the owner himself. Their panini sandwiches are amazing! They welcome everyone with open arms. I love that about this place… oh, and if you’ve never had an Affogato… you must try it! Ice cream, chocolate sauce, espresso shots, and whipped cream, oh my!

Good place to catch up one morning. One of the few places where they’ll actually put effort into that design in the foam of your cappuccino.

Honestly, I’ve been coming here sparingly over the last few years so I’ve seen this place over a long period of time and it’s never gotten better. The furniture is disgusting, doesn’t look like they vacuum, the coffee isn’t fantastic, the bathrooms are dirty. To top it off, I checked out their food in the pastry case and there was mold on the fruit! I’m all about supporting local businesses, but there are way better and quieter places to get a good brew and get some studying or work done. Tip for you guys: you give WAY too many options for children to play with in your toy area. I was here and there were five kids that had TONS of stuff all over the café. A couple of stationary toys is great, but when you get blocks and lots of random toys kids are going to mess with all of it, ESPECIALLY when their negligent parents don’t seem to give a care that their children are screaming and running around everywhere.

Had my book signing here! Great owner, great staff! They made the whole process easy from start to finish! And they have great food and coffee to top it off!

I was recommended this place by a local friend of mine. It is a great place to post up and get some work done. Along the right side there are couches with little tables, each are divided by hanging sheets(they are nice, sheet probably isn’t the right word). This is super nice cause it makes each one feel like it’s own room. There is also a stage with a couple microphones so I can only imagine they do some sort of performing/open mic. We had a couple drip coffees, a blueberry scone, and hung out for a few hours doing homework. The coffee was good but the scone left a bit of an odd taste in my mouth. We saw quite a few sandwiches be taken to other people and they all looked delicious, however they were all $ 9+. Overall, awesome atmosphere with slightly overpriced food for what you get.

Okay, so Calypso’s has a lot of seating. That’s a good thing… The only good thing. Here’s what bothers me: 1. $ 3 minimum for debit/credit cards… IT’S 2015!!! 2. Had a soggy scone that may have been moldy, which I had to buy to purchase a drip coffee(see above). 3. Nothing ruins a study sesh more than open mic. 4. The worst experience I had was with who I think may be the manager or owner… I got my coffee and sat down forgetting to get the wifi password. So I went back up to the counter to get it. Rudely, the manager insisted that I have to make a purchase to get the wifi password, which I understand, but after I told him I just bought a coffee, he insisted that if HAD I bought a coffee, the wifi password would be on my receipt. I then had to explain I didn’t get a receipt. Said«oh well that’s weird, out employees are supposed to always give out the receipt.» He went on to seemingly quiz me about what I bought. REALLY? You guys, the customer service and overall vibe here sucks. And the coffee isn’t anything to write home about. I’m usually pretty forgiving of local businesses. NOTTHISPLACE! Nope.

Wow! A coffee shop with character! Visiting from SoCal where there’s a Starbucks at literally every corner and very few coffee shops with character, I have to say, when I walked into Calypso, I was pleasantly surprised. The décor alone, the assortment of different seating areas, chairs/tables, definitely made for a positive atmosphere. The staff here is really friendly. I’m ashamed to admit, considering the saturation of Starbucks/Peets down from where I’m from, I didn’t really know the«real» names of drinks outside of those from the Starbucks menu. The staff was very patient in making recommendations based on whether I wanted something sweet or not, strong or not, hot or cold, etc. I must have spent a good 5 minutes looking over the menu and trying to make a decision — thankfully, no one else was in line behind me. I can’t remember the name of the sandwich/wrap I ordered along with my coffee, but it had avocado in it and was very tasty. They do have free wifi here(most coffee shops do) — and they even have a onsite conference room which can be used for meetings(that is such a novel idea! a conference room in a coffee shop), which I thought was a smart use of space and additional revenue. Parking is blah, depending on the time of day, day of the week. I had my friends drop me off since I needed to do some homework. Overall a plus, definitely a favorite, and I imagine I’ll be back to Calypso a few more times before I leave.

Wonderful lattes and excellent barista! Wish we would have found this place the first day we arrived in Coeur d’Alene. Way better than coffee shop #1.

I hate to admit it, but I’m a total Starbucks person. So when I go to a new coffee shop, I’m always a little confused by the menu. I admitted this to the friendly barista, and he was more than happy to point me in the right direction. When my drink was ready(quickly, I might add!) it was delicious! I was happy with the customer service and quality and will definitely be returning when I’m in the area! PS– didn’t catch any music here, but it seems like a pretty cool, spacious venue!

I love Calypso’s and stop here anytime I am driving I-90 past CdA. It is an easy drive off the highway– just take the exit to «downtown.» Hey, we all have GPS now– follow the voice on your phone. The coffee drinks are just so great, and I love the roast they use(much smoother than S***bucks). The cinnamon roll has enough sugar to get you all the way to Seattle, or Billings if you are heading east :) Calypso’s has really great breakfast sandwiches, which is all I ever get. I know they have other food but I can’t comment as breakfast is my thing. Another big thing about Calypso’s– they provide a lot of support to Coeur d’Alene’s annual Ironman event. I like a local company that supports their town.

So cute! It reminded me of the TV show Friends:) I loved The décor and artwork in there. The food was very good as well — I had avocado and tomatoes with toasted which was simple and perfect for what I wanted. My husband ordered the French toast with raspberry and cream filling which he really enjoyed. I would definitely recommend stopping in here if you are in CDA!

I heard about this place from my boss. When she showed me pictures, it looked crowded and like there would be a wait. I went this morning with a friend after a conference that was held at the resort. It was fantastic. There was no line and got my breakfast within a matter of minutes. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Just what I needed to unwind from conference mode. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese on a plan bagel. The eggs were fluffy and the cheese perfectly melted. The sausage added a nice flavor to the sandwich. It was served with slices of fruit. I would recommend this café to everyone.
