Just like all the other reviews… this place is awesome. The staff members are all extremely polite and efficient. We came here for mothers day(which is normally a nightmare anywhere else) but things went well here and everything we ate was great. Everyone I was with ordered the lobster bisque and I ordered shrimp ceviche… both awesome. I had eggs Benedict… awesome. For dessert I had the Boston cream pie… awesome. So you should come by here too!

This was the Panna Cotta dessert. It was absolutely delicious. The Lobster Bisque was very good as well. The meal was amazing and the dining experience was excellent as well. A must stop for anyone wanting to check into a reasonably priced fine dining restaurant. The atmosphere was great for a date or celebration.

Wonderful experience! The dinner was delicious. We ordered beet salad, lamb & scallops — crime brûlée for dessert. Service is impeccable!

I was attending a conference at a nearby hotel and saw this little place on my way. Decided to give it a go. It can be kind of awkward dining alone in some places-however, this little gem really made me feel relaxed and WELCOME. I was greeted with a smile(no reservation) and seated in the bar at my request. The host(perhaps owner?) checked on my frequently to be sure I had everything I needed. I started with a wonderful glass of wine and wedge salad(I know nothing«fancy» but I don’t get them often). My entrée, I chose the halibut. It was so so good! A tiny bit of heat from the sweet chili sauce but cooked absolutely perfectly! I could eat that at least once a week and not get tired of it! I took dessert back to my hotel as I was so full I couldn’t eat another bite. I had the vanilla bean panna cotta-it was very good as well. The raspberry sauce was tangy and the panna cotta was sweet – perfect match!!! The service by the host as well as my server was excellent! I would(and hopefully will) be able to dine here again in the future! I will add a PS – while the information says«dressy» attire, there were individuals wearing both jeans and Bermuda shorts in there – as long as you’re not dressed like a slouch, you should be fine!

Don’t be fooled by its understated exterior. Walter’s Bistro is a fine dining experience that will not disappoint. My husband and I started with cocktails, followed by oysters on the half shell. These were the real deal… fresh like the ocean. We followed these with lobster bisque for me and the beet salad for him. Main courses were bison tenderloin and rack of lamb. Each course was excellent. Of course a restaurant is not only about the food. The interior was appropriately quiet, with comfortable furniture, still befitting a fine dining experience. The host and wait staff were knowledgeable. They gave us appropriate privacy, yet were available for our requests. Overall we were quite impressed with our first dining experience at Walter’s Bistro.

Summary– We liked Walter’s Bistro, but with us being from the north side of Colorado Springs we feel that are a few other restaurants with a similar or better experience(e.g. Carlos’ Bistro, Joseph’s Fine Dining, Marigolds) that are located closer to us. Details– Today was our first trip here(hard to judge a place on one trip, so take this FWIW). We arrived about 5:15PM(they open at 5:30 on Saturdays) and the doors were open, we were greeted by a host, and we were seated right away. First, we ordered wine. The wines at Walter’s are comparably priced to other restaurants of this type in the area. We got the Mount Veeder Cab($ 75) which we(as wine connoisseurs) like as well as Caymus, Silver Oak, and other wines which were also available here at about double the price. For an appetizer, we ordered the mussels($ 13) which were very good, but we were a little disappointed with the portion size — which was a smaller portion than what you’ll get at most restaurants serving mussels and/or clams. The mussels were served with dinner rolls, which were served very hot but were nothing special taste-wise. I ordered a wedge salad as my 2nd course. I don’t want to beat them up too much on this because a wedge salad is pretty much a wedge salad, but the wedge salad I got here did not include balsamic glaze and it was very light on dressing, blue cheese crumbles, and bacon — basically all the good stuff(the wedge salads at Outback Steakhouse and Saltgrass Steakhouse are better and cost less if wedge salads are important to you). My wife ordered the 12 oz Grilled NY Strip, which was«cooked to perfection»(medium rare) in her words. I had a few bites and it was good(but a little bland for my tastes — I prefer a nice pepper steak or perhaps a steak accompanied with a flavorful chutney preparation). My wife asked our server what would be served with the NY Strip and she was told Potato Gratin and Creamed Spinach — so she was looking forward to trying the spinach. When her food came up, it was served with seasonal veggies instead of Creamed Spinach. Later our server apologized and said that they have a Valentine’s special of NY Strip with seasonal veggies, so that was the cause for the confusion. They very quickly remedied the situation by bringing out an extra side of creamed spinach — which my wife said was«good», but«not as good as Pappadeaux’s» in her opinion(not creamy enough). I tried some of her Gratin Potatoes which I thought were good, but they weren’t very cheesy — if you like cheesy potatoes. I ordered the Bison Tenderloin — which was the highlight of my evening(along with the wine). It was also«cooked to perfection»(medium). It was served with Mashed Potatoes — which were flawless, and also with seasonal veggies — nothing especially good, or bad, or noteworthy. We skipped desert and our bill was promptly processed. The service was good — we were checked on often, but not annoyingly often. The atmosphere was also good — great for a quiet night out.

We are Louisianaians. We know our food. This place could survive in New Orleans. The lamb was superb.

Charming and surprising. I’m always a fan of restaurants that prepare food with care and think out of the box a little. This had some surprising flavors and the fois gras was wonderful. Good drink selection and good service. I will make an effort to come here whenever I am in town.

What a hidden gem! When it comes to food and service done right, look no further than Walters. In fact, Walter most likely will greet you at your table! The service is on point, the food, is very flavorful. The atmosphere is classy and it feels very relaxed. A true hidden gem!

At first I was concerned because our cab pulled us up to a shopping mall that looked a little run down. but my perception was quickly dismantled the moment we walked thru the door! Wonderful food, great ambiance, and a lovely visit from the owner himself! Thanks Unilocalers for helping us find this gem!

I’ve been to Walter’s several times in the past. It’s usually a stop on my way home from work, and when I stop it usually involves dinner. The thing that has always remained the same. Is Walter. He is is warm, gracious and friendly. I have enjoyed many a meal and drink there. Tonight I started with the Lobster Bisque. While the temperature was a little lower than I prefer, the bisque was delicious!(Tip: The dinner rolls are fantastic!) For the main the course, I ordered the Braised Colorado Angus Short Ribs, with Mashed Potatoes & Veg. The presentation was nice, it came in a shallow bowl, ribs were on the bone and included a nice selection of carrots & asparagus. The beef was flavorful and had a nice Demi. It was a meaty cut too, which was nice. The potato was lumpy & thin. The Veg was cooked nicely and was crisp. I would normally rate Walter’s with 4*s, but the entrée just didn’t hit the mark.(Full disclosure: I did order the Ribs off the Bar Menu) I’ll be back. AND I will definitely recommend Walter’s to others.

We are so glad we found Walters. The meal was amazing. Generous portions and fabulous service. I had the Chilean sea bass with gnocchi and the lobster bisque. We will definitely be back.

We had my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary dinner here. Walter came and talked with all of us and paid special attention to my parents. My father has dementia and all of the staff treated him so well. All of the guest raved about the food and the staff. The head waiter Rob was outstanding. The lobster bisque is so wonderful. We had 5 entrée choices: bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin, crab-stuffed shrimp, pan seared salmon, mixed grill(rack of lamb with elk sausage) and pan roasted Colorado half chicken. Every plate was empty at the end of the dinner. I absolutely recommend Walter’s for a special meal.

We received a gift card for Walters over the holidays and finally got a chance to use it… We decided to have dinner in the bar, as the dining room menu is a little pricey. We started with a couple great martinis. Everything on the menu sounded great, but we finally decided on calamari, kale salad and short ribs. They were all very good and nicely presented. Or server was great. She paced or meal perfectly so we didn’t get everything all at once and could enjoy each course. The only thing that fell short was the atmosphere… just felt a little stuffy and uptight. I guess we like a little more laid back and casual. We would definitely come back… maybe at someone else’s suggestion. But, this probably isn’t going to be a go to place for us.

We went to Walter’s Bistro this week because our friend had passed away and this was one of her favorite restaurants. I remember a night where we ordered three burgers to go and they were some of the best burgers we had ever eaten… we couldn’t stop gushing about those burgers. You wouldn’t expect a great burger from a place like Walter’s Bistro which is definitely a prime gathering spot for Ladies Who Lunch. On our most recent visit I ordered the cod for lunch. It was a generous chunk of cod with a light nutty crust, perfectly cooked. My companions both ordered the Kale salad which arrived neat and compact with shaved carrots and grapefruit and a gentle vinaigrette. We were very happy with our light lunches and never felt interrupted or hassled as we talked about great memories of our dear friend. It was a great way to honor her.

The food is AMAZING! I would recommend this place to everyone, if it wasn’t for the awful waitress that was so preoccupied talking on her phone, and arguing with her friends sitting near us. Get a better staff and I will become a regular! If im going to pay this much for a meal I expect amazing costumer service!

First visit was on Christmas Eve 2014 which featured a pre-fixed menu. Everything sounded delicious and proved tough to choose one entrée for dinner. Both my girlfriend and I found the striped bass and duck to be amazingly delicious. The hot rolls served were amazing too, especially on a cold winter night Highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or a date night. The menu is well priced for the quality and the staff is professional

Mediocre food, horrible service, wonderfully decorated. When we first walked in, the host was on the phone ignoring us for a few minutes. We patiently waited until we were finally seated. We loved the ambience and were immediately given hot bread and water. We were thinking this place was going to be great based on the both the atmosphere and the clientele. We both ordered the Lobster Bisque for $ 10 and to my surprise, there was not one little bit of lobster in it. For $ 10, I expect lobster in my lobster bisque, especially at a place that claims to be «fine dining». For our entrees, we ordered salad with salmon. It took almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Our waitress, Janice, pulled a Houdini in the middle of service when the place started getting crowded, and when she came back, she was completely in the weeds. Both of the water glasses on our table were empty. Janice came over and refilled my water glass, and then walked away completely ignoring my fiancé’s empty water glass. I was shocked at how rude she was. She explained that our salad was taking long to prepare because it was fresh. It seemed to me the more likely explanation is that she forgot to put the ticket in because no salad takes that long to make unless they went to the garden and picked out the lettuce themselves. I used a $ 25 gift certificate here, and I was still disappointed at having to pay $ 50 for 2 lousy soups and mediocre salmon. Before we left, the host seated a group next to the fireplace and explained to them that the fire was nice and warm. There wasn’t even a fire in the fireplace. It was very weird. The only thing exceptional about Walter’s Bistro is the wait. We will not be returning. This place is clearly for those with more money than brains.

We had a great time at Walter’s Bistro. First the food was amazing. We started with an iceberg salad and a bowl of the lobster bisque and they were both very well done. For the main course I had a local, fresh, rack of lamb that was legitimately the best lamb I have ever eaten(and I have had lamb all over the world). It was cooked to a perfect med-rare and was served with a mint rosemary glaze that went perfectly with the potatoes. My wife had the prime rib served with mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and it was amazing too. For dessert, I had a slice of cherry pie that was very nice and my wife had the strawberry and cream cheese crepes that were delightful. The reason I gave it 4 stars was two-fold. I felt like towards the end of the meal, we were left alone and had to sit and wait a lot. From the time they took our dinner plates until our dessert came was nearly 40 minutes, which is a bit excessive. The server was polite and courteous however, he got busy and we got left out. Additionally, I noted a lot of food stains/splattering on the wall near our booth/table. When I walk in and spent $ 170 on dinner. drinks with my wife, it better be spotless. Aside from the timing and the food on the wall, this place was great! We will be back and I absoultely recommend the rack of lamb.

Took my mom here for Mothers Day dinner. We’ve been before and it’s fantastic. Everything on the menu was wonderful. The Chilean Sea Bass with Truffle Gnocchi in Lobster Sauce is — and I quote — To Die For. Be careful that you don’t fill up on the Lobster Bisque before hand, although it’s tempting because it’s super yummy creamy deliciousness, or you’ll miss out on the great entrees. I love Walters and when ever I’m in town we try to have dinner there! Happy munching.
