Charley’s Steakery

I used to go to Charley’s all the time when I was in high school, and I may have had it once since then. We’d go to the one on Sawmill, so this was my first time at the campus location. Service wasn’t really great, but I’m not one to dock points for service at a fast food joint unless it’s realllly bad, like you’d have to assault me with ketchup.
I had the BBQ Cheddar Steak sandwich, and I just really did not like the taste of it. Honestly, I couldn’t finish it. I should have known better, because BBQ sauce and steak is usually a terrible idea, but I had forgotten what I used to get here. The one piece of steak I had without BBQ on it really wasn’t all that bad.
I also had the fries with bacon, cheese, and ranch, which weren’t that bad, because it’s hard to be with those three toppings, but don’t expect to be blown away. Melted nacho cheese and bacon bits make up this little guy.
My buddies seem to enjoy their meals all right, so I guess my suggestion would be to stick with the original Philly cheesesteaks they have there, or maybe go for a traditional club sandwich, or maybe just head down a block to Cane’s instead.

The service was sub-​par — even for a fast food place. The person taking my order couldn’t seem to maintain his attention on what he was doing for more than 30 seconds.
The food itself was disgusting. I got a cheese-​steak, and the meat had the texture and taste of cardboard. I was unable to finish it.
Add in the fact that a cheese-​steak, fries and a coke was almost $ 15 and this was a bad choice. For a few dollars more, I could’ve had a decent lunch at a sit-​down restaurant.
Avoid this place.

Ok, the other two reviews were far too harsh so I feel compelled to chime in. The cheesesteaks here are solid, if not great, and I would give it 3 ½ stars if I could. I would give a slight edge to the steak escape, and the fries at Great Steak and Potato, but Charley’s is still much better than most of your Columbus sub options.

Greasy slimy cheesesteak. I only ate here because I thought it was related to O’charleys, if it is then they need to cut the ties.
Being in the convention center foodcourt, there are definitely better options in the immediate vicinity.

Tasted as expected… like grilled meat, with cheese, on bread. Not the worst thing I ate in Columbus.
