Marcia Evans Gallery is small but full. The current showing is Glass and Canvas, a mixture of colorful glass vases by CCAD professor Dawson Kellogg and abstract paintings by new artist BJR Brian Reaume. Marcia Evans shows largely contemporary and abstract art. Past exhibitions include abstract paintings by Petersen Thomas, prints by Scott Smith, blown glass by Joan Schneider, sculpture by Jaye Bumbaugh, and collages and totems by Andre Lidgus(of Poplar Park). The offerings at the gallery are high end. Along with gallery showings, Marcia herself offers consultation to both businesses and individuals, and she does art appraisals. The exterior of the shop is brightly painted blue with yellow trim. It’s inviting. Inside, the gallery is tiny and tidy with tile floors and chunky wood bookshelves to show the glasswork. You’re likely to be the only one there, which is nice because you can take your time and look around without bothering anyone else. But I wish there was more to look at. The art is lovely, but the one showing room is almost too small.
