Bartender has amazing people skills. The pizza guy has a BEAUTIFUL booty! The downfall is that you don’t give spoons with the amazing soup.

The team at Paulie Gee’s is doing everything right! Service, location and most importantly flavors. Summer of George is fantastic, as is Monte Cristo and every other pizza we tried. If you know and love pizza and excellent drinks, don’t miss Paulie Gee’s Short North!

Really good pizzas! You really can’t go wrong when you team up with Ray Ray’s hog pit and add their brisket and sauce to one of your pies! Friendly staff and very fast service. The only negative is the ultra thin crust, the toppings fall off if you don’t roll it up

As an avid fan of Paulie Gee’s in Brooklyn, I was very excited to hear that I could get some of that delicious hot honey on my pizza at the new-ish location in Ohio. So random, but definitely welcomed. And, I wouldn’t have to brave 2-hour lines! Huzzah. The vibe had that hipster casual vibe for sure, complete with flannel-wearing waitstaff, mason jars, and even the cramped tables! So authentic. The drink menu was fairly extensive, and I like that they do have a few local brews on tap. I ended up getting the Land Grant Son of a Mudder brown ale, which was pretty good. As for food, we got the hellified porkpie white, and the Ricky’s Ricotta, my two usual go-tos when I hit up Paulie Gee’s. As always, the hot honey on the hellified porkpie gave everything a really nice sweet, spicy flavor, which cut through the richness of the white pizza quite well. The Ricky ricotta was delicious and the creaminess of the ricotta really came through in every bite. As always, the crust is thin and crispy, and the wood-fired oven really makes a huge difference. We were actually really confused at first, because after 10 minutes, no one came to our table, and I had to go to the host to see if there was any waitstaff that attend to our table. Not the best initial experience, but the manager came and apologized profusely and offered us a couple of shots of their house-made limoncello. A very nice gesture, and definitely lifted our spirits for the rest of the night. Also, that limoncello was RULL strong. Prices are on the expensive side, and actually relatively comparable to the Brooklyn prices. However, the quality is there, and it’s definitely one of the more unique offerings in the area, so I’d definitely recommend it. A must-visit for my next trip to Columbus/Short North. I’ll definitely have to try the other pizzas if I can pull myself away from the Hellboy/hellified porkpie.

Stumbled on this place while walking short north last night and we were so glad we did. Cool atmosphere, great service and the pizza was incredible. The crust was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was perfect. I had the in ricotta da vegan pizza which had a cashew cheese and a house made vegan sausage and it was just incredible. Can’t remember what the husband had but it had animals on it, I’m sure. We also had a salad and some drinks which were very good. We would definitely be regulars if we lived in Columbus.

How a restaurant handles a special occasion says a lot about it. With Paulie Gee’s being new, when I called to notify them that I was minutes away with a birthday girl(my wife), they laughed at me for letting them know. I’ll say that again: the person on the other end of the phone, baffled that I would want to inform the restaurant that I was approaching under very special circumstances, laughed at me. She literally laughed at me. I was prepared to write Paulie Gee’s off, for good. Instead, I called the young lady back, and I made the following abundantly clear: All restaurants, regardless of quality, price or(in this case) self importance, should recognize special occasions. Burger King gives you a crown. Dick’s Last Resort puts a giant paper penis on your head. Even the fanciest restaurants will at the very least verbally wish you a «happy birthday» while also scribbling it in chocolate ink on a dessert plate that you’ll still have to pay for. No restaurant should ignore it completely, none is more important than your special occasion, and no one, under any circumstances, should laugh at you for having one. That said, after making this all very clear, the restaurant responded with flying colors. Pizzas, stories about this and that cocktail and their origins, reveling in the bask of a shared appreciation for Lambrusco, «happy birthdays» left and right, and so much more, the Paulie Gee’s team officially took the restaurant from«new» to «great» and from four stars to five in my book. Special shout out to some of the all-star players: Christina(behind the bar), Dylan(I think that’s his name), and our amazing server, Katey, for making my wife’s bday one to remember.

This place just shot into my top 5 pizza places in town after trying it for the first time on Sunday. I was eagerly waiting for the spot to open up but thought it best to let them work out the kinks first. I’ve heard and read so much about the Hellboy pizza that I didn’t really need to scan the rest of the menu before ordering. It’s pretty simple: red sauce, hot sopressata, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, and the awesome hot honey! I wasn’t sure how hot honey could get, but it definitely had quite a kick to it, and they aren’t shy with the how much they throw on there. Also, the sopressata is basically large pieces of crispy pepperoni, smaller than sopressata I’m used to, but they should be used in place of pepperoni at all times from now on! I was in love with this pizza. Some people may not like the flimsiness toward the middle, but it’s New York style, so fold it like a taco, and you’re good to go. My girlfriend had a much harder time deciding but ended up with the Cheese Rules Everything Around Me, which is a six cheese pizza and a nice little homage to NYC. This was also a great pizza, and she liked it more than mine. It was tasty, but I did not share that opinion. There’s quite a few other pizzas on the menu that aren’t on the website, and a lot that are similar to the Hellboy with a few tweaks, so I’ll be sure to try those as well. It’s a bummer you can’t get it to go, but I can see why that could be difficult, since the oven they’re cooking all the pizzas out of isn’t very big. Maybe not on a Sunday, since it was dead, but on a busy Friday or Saturday, it’d be damn near impossible without having one or two hours waits on a pie. If you really want it to go, just order a pizza at the bar or something and then ask for a to go box, I guess? The service is fine, and the pizza came out real quick after we ordered, so that was nice. The pizzas here are no more expensive than what you’d find at Harvest or Pies and Pints. They’re probably about 12−13″ pies and run around $ 15. If you compare pricing, it’s pretty much the same. I wish they’d change the damn chairs, because they are the most uncomfortable things to sit in. If you’re going to make people eat in, at least provide some comfort! Besides those small gripes, this place is delicious, and I highly recommend checking it out. NOTE: They don’t have a Sunday liquor and wine license yet, so if you find yourself here on a Sunday, you’ll only be able to order beer.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice and are big fans. Pizzas are really tasty. Staff is super friendly. We got the Dellboy which had delicious sopresatta on top the first time. It was such a photogenic pizza :) and tasted even better. The char on the crust and the texture are really great. Our second visit we got the hellified pork pie white(which we avoided the first time because my boyfriend thought it would be too spicy). This one is amazing. The sweet and spice paired perfectly with the char of the crust. We couldn’t stop talking about how good it was. And my boyfriend said the spice was totally manageable :) This is dangerously close to where I live, so we will definitely be back often.

Everything was great! For starters the food was very good and fun to watch them make the pies. The service was very helpful and insightful on drink choices(try the sparkling red wine– really good with pizza). Price wise: it can be viewed a little high for pizza but it’s fairly priced for the short north. It is a fun pizza spot with a fun vibe. We will definitely be back and I’ll crave their pizza until I visit again.

This was really quite delicious! Plate licking good if I do say so myself. **hope they will put some local art up on the walls**(cough cough, call me) ;) Pros: Beautiful set up and layout of the building. Great concept of the wood fire burner. Food was VERYFAST! Food was VERYGOOD! Cons: a bit expensive for how much I am getting. I could eat an entire pizza myself in one sitting, for 18 $ eeesh. Lets face it with these living wages I wont be able to eat here as much as Id love to. Other than that, it is a MUSTGO!

Paulie Gee’s is awesome! And what a fun name! We went here for a Saturday night out, and had a great time. We were immediately seated, and their seats are very uncomfortable! That’s definitely the weirdest complaint I’ve had for a restaurant, but for some reason it really stood out. The pizza and drinks are awesome! OYO whiskey serves as the vehicle for most of their cocktails, and the wine and craft beer list is extensive. There’s no doubt about it, the pizza is the main attraction: wood-fired to perfection(and yes, there are char marks, as there should be). We had the spinach pizza(Daniela di Spinaci) and a more classic Reggina pizza. The spinach was perfect– not overcooked and wilted, still with some crunch. The Reggina was my favorite– the tomato sauce was da bomb dot com, and the cheese was flavorful and plentiful. You can never go wrong with a classic!

Definitively my worst sit-down dining experience. Ever. I want to preface this review by noting that Paulie Gee’s is a great bar. While this was the first time we ate here, we had been to the bar before, and our bartenders were fantastic and extremely friendly in the past and during our visit, which made us all the more excited for our first dinner. I like to think that I’m generally a pretty complaisant customer, but this experience was really one mistake after another. On a Friday night, we were not surprised to find a 25 minute wait, so we enjoyed a round of drinks at the bar with our lovely, neighborly bartender. We were happy to find out not much later that they were ready to seat us right behind where we were sitting at the bar, so we cashed out and moved over to our table. We had browsed the menu at the bar, and while my boyfriend half-joked that we should order our pizzas before being seated(Giordano’s-style) because we were so hungry, we figured it would be fine to order as soon as we were seated. Unfortunately, at least ten minutes went by without any introduction from the wait staff, so my boyfriend went to ask the hostess if a server could come by. Our server rushed over and quickly asked us what we would like. We ordered a risotto to split as a starter and a couple of pizzas. The next time we spoke to a staff member was half an hour later, when one of the chefs brought my boyfriend’s pizza. He apologized, saying that our food ticket had been lost. I asked whether our risotto, the starter, was coming, and he said it would be out shortly. I tried my boyfriend’s pizza, which was mushroom-focused, but it was too burnt for my liking. A few minutes later a staff member I later learned was the manager came to give us our risotto, telling us that our pizza was her favorite. She was very friendly and charming, which helped to put us at ease. I asked her for a carafe of water, noticing we were the only seated party without one, and she quickly brought one over. The risotto was actually quite good. Our server came by shortly thereafter to apologize for the wait, letting us know that the computer had messed up several orders that night and asking if we were okay. We ordered a round of beers. Our beers came out later, along with my cauliflower pizza. The toppings tasted great, but the pizza was again too burnt. I got the attention of our server, who attentively confirmed our complaint to give to her manager. The manager came over to ask me what was wrong. I repeated my complaint about the pizza being burnt and she told us that the hot surface of wood-fire ovens sometimes leaves burn marks on the pizza. I told her that we have had wood-fired pizza before and that the pizza usually doesn’t taste overwhelmingly burnt. She proceeded to teach us that most«wood-fired» pizzerias used gas as well and that theirs was more authentic to traditional Roman pizza, elaborating on how an Italian customer had recently told them their pizza was as good and authentic as from home. I repeated that while we had eaten pizza with brown marks, we were mostly tasting burnt dough, and she reluctantly offered to see if they could try to take it out earlier next time, unsure that it would still be cooked. While we had never been patronized like that as customers before in our lives, we agreed. Stunned by this encounter, we were greeted with our server quickly afterward, who made sure that our complaint was handled. I reiterated that we usually enjoy a smoky flavor but not when burnt flavor overtakes the entire pizza. She agreed. The manager brought our pizza out a bit later and we immediately noticed that the scorch marks were brown instead of black. This pizza was good(and cooked), and our server checked on us routinely afterward to ensure we were satisfied. Our pizzas were comped when we received the bill. While we may come back for happy hour, I see myself visiting Rome many times before coming back here for dinner.

Paulie Gee’s serves traditional Neapolitan pizza as well as small number of salads and appetizers. The restaurant itself is very low key and dimly lit. It’s also very loud when crowded. It’s a great place to grab a pizza and a couple of drinks. It wouldn’t be well suited to a long, romantic dinner. The pizza oven is a work of art. It’s a Stefano Ferraro oven, custom made and imported from Italy. It’s wood fired and allows for Neapolitan style pizza to be quickly baked at ~900 degrees. We started with a salad with chick peas and diatini. It was very simple and very good. We also ordered a few drinks… There’s a proper bar and they will make you whatever cocktail you order, unlike some other local places(bareburger, Philco — I’m looking at you). We ordered two different pizzas. The mushroom and the Delboy. Both were excellent. The crust is thin and airy, made with delicate flour. This pizza is best eaten right out of the oven and wouldn’t hold up well for carry out or reheating. There’s just enough cheese on the Delboy to add a ton of flavor without overwhelming the red sauce or sopresseta. My husband and son absolutely loved the Delboy. I ordered the mushroom pizza which is a white pizza with a blend of cheeses and mushrooms, finished with truffle oil. The flavor is very rich and intense. It was hard for me to finish more than two slices just because the flavors were so rich. I look forward to returning and trying one of the pies with red sauce. Also of note — there are plenty of vegetarian and even a vegan pizza.

With 200 plus pizza joints in Columbus — how does a new business make it?! Let the pizza speak for itself! We ventured into the new Paulie Gee’s Short North for dinner tonight with pretty high expectations as we’ve heard great things about the establishment and I love Brooklyn style pizza. Location is easy to find and there is plenty of street and lot parking near by. Dinner hours only. The mood lightning inside is wonderful but not when it comes to reading the menu! We saw some customers pull out their phone flashlights to read the menu! Once we read over the menu — we opted for the HellBoy and Some Guys Have All The Fun pizzas. Skipped the drinks. There is a nice wine menu. We were seated at the table across from the wood fired oven so we watched our pizzas be prepared and cooked — each pizza took about 5 mins or less to come to our table. The mushroom pizza was wonderful — first the crust is legit good. Nice char and crunch… yet chewy inside. The mushrooms were fresh, cheese wonderful, and the truffle oil was a nice finish! The Hellboy was equally as good! The tomato sauce is well seasoned and fresh! The pizza was finished off by hot honey drizzle. Nice mix of sweet and spicy. Service was great and the food was proper… we will be back to check out the rest of the menu! Welcome to the #614 Paulie Gee’s!

Eating my pizza from yesterday as I type this review! FYI — it’s still delicious cold. I feel like we have so many pizza places in Columbus, but one more solid place is certainly welcome. One of my friends is vegan, so it’s awesome they have vegan pizza. Their other locations have a bunch of vegan pizzas and this particular one only has one type, but maybe as they kind of test the waters they’ll add more. I started with the mushroom risotto. I was a little hesitant on ordering it because I figured it would fill me up too much… I kind of wanted a salad but I wasn’t really interested in either of the salad choices. Anyway, get the risotto! It comes in a parmesan basket and is absolutely DI-VINE. As for pizza, I went with the Brisket pizza, which features meat and sauce from Ray Ray’s, as well as some pickled onions. A friend got the Monte Cristo, which has gouda, Canadian bacon, and a honey drizzle. Paulie’s crust is perfect and fluffy, my favorite kind of crust. There was no sogginess going on, as can happen with some pizza if ingredients are too wet or dough isn’t all the way cooked. Nope, not happening. Brisket pizza was great. There could’ve been a feeeeew more toppings, but otherwise it’s certainly something I’d get again. Monte Cristo also good… I’ve never had a honey drizzle on a pizza and the sweetness really works with the cheese and meat. The owner came around to make sure everything was good and he was very friendly and personable. He definitely seemed like he wanted you to have a good dining experience. I have two very minor complaints. My friend ordered a Dirty Martini and they didn’t put olives in there! The olives are one of the best parts :(Also, the people standing around at the bar waiting on seats kept bumping into my back and basically stood right at my back. I know there’s a little seating at the bar and people are going to be mingling around there, but it was just a little annoying as I prefer eating my food without people smashing up against me. Welcome to the neighborhood, Paulie Gee’s! I’ll be back and will definitely spread the news that this place is worth checking out.

My expectations for Paulie Gee’s were high. Sky high. Some might say unrealistically high. But, some would be wrong. Because I just got eating a delicious pizza from there and they exceeded even the high expectations that I had set. If you’re reading this, you’re probably interested in the pizza. And I’ll get to that. But first, let me digress and discuss the service. Which was unfailingly friendly and prompt. I sat at the bar when I was there, and both bartenders were gracious and attentive. Also, I was so eager to try the pizza that I didn’t wait for anyone’s schedule to line up with mine – I went alone. Never once did that feel awkward or uncomfortable. So kudos to you bartenders, you were great! As for the pizza? It definitely lives up to the hype. The flavors: excellent. The toppings: excellent(in quality and amount). The cheese: excellent. Ok. A little more detail. I had the Hellified Porkpie White. It had an appropriate number of toppings, so as to ensure there was great flavor in every bite, but that it wasn’t overwhelmed by them. They still gave the cheese and crust an opportunity to shine through. And am I glad that they did. The cheese was of a very high quality. But the key? The heart of the pizza? That would be the crust. Spotted and perfectly cooked, it is definitely what helps make the pizza stand out. I can’t wait to go back. The creative topping combinations(can’t wait to try the Monte Cristo for example) and the quality of the pie ensure that this is a restaurant you’ll want to visit time and again. I know I do!
