I wanted to like this place. I really did. My wife and I came here no less than 4 times over as many months and we’re officially done. But you, dear reader, YOU might like it… if you like: — Slow, inattentive service — Microwaved jumbo pretzels(sometimes over-microwaved and rock hard) — Wings that are more sauce than meat(and no wet naps to clean up) — Slow service — Wurst that is meh at best — Forgettable burgers — Draft beers that may or may not be available after they tell you they have them — Did I mention slow service? The one upside is that it’s never busy and finding a seat is never a problem. Gee I wonder why? Hint: If you want killer authentic German food, go to Hofbrauhaus or Schmidt’s. If you want a great beer selection and stellar service, go around the corner to Winking Lizard.

This is a nice casual German eatery, however I have read good and bad reviews about it, but overall I like it. I usually get Chicken Schnitzel and Hefeweizen.

good place to feed your sausage and beer cravings. They have a nice selection of different brats and sausages. And they are always delicious. Last visit I ordered a burger(hand made) with bratwurst on top of it! Pretty much a meat overdose but it was awesome! They have a decent beer selection also. Im not a craft fan, but if you are you probably wont be disapointed.

My first visit was a winner and I loved their wiener’s! Other stuff I liked: –Amazing draft and bottled beer selection. I would dare say they have the best German beer selection in Columbus. –The giant pretzel with cheese and authentic german mustard is a crowd pleaser. –Fantastic selection of traditional german dishes. –Tons of TV’s if your looking for a place to watch a game. The service was good, not great, but I’m a hard grader in this area. I can’t wait to go back and try something else on the menu.

My husband LOVES pretzels. We heard they have good ones here. We wouldnt know, since it never came. We wondered why 2 brats took so long. He was pleased with his sausage and beer. Saw the server wandering around on his phone. Disappointing overall. May give it another try when OSU isnt playing. Apparently football is very important, more important than my food. 3 stars on his behalf.

My husband and I came here last night after reading plenty of reviews of this place. I always knew this place existed but I doubted going in because I thought the best sausages I’ve had was definitely in Germany so nothing can come close to the original. I guess I’m wrong, I should never judge a book by it’s cover kind of thing. The sausages here were really good according to my husband who got that humongous burger you see in my picture. It was called the nurnburger, I think. I ordered the schnitzel just to see how it compares to my home cooked version and to be honest I like home cooking better because it’s that extra TLC you don’t get in the restaurant setting. By the way, that was my mom’s homemade schnitzel I was referring to. I ordered the schnitzel with the mashed potatoes and the kaespatsle. Which is just like a German macaroni and cheese but was just swiss cheese instead of cheddar. I have to admit I should have ordered the potato salad because when I spent some time in Germany, I actually learned to make real German Potato Salad. I wanted to compare it to what I made there. By the way, I found out from the waitress that they get their delivery for their food from the same place as Schmidts in the German Village but their quality is way better than that of Hofbrauhaus or Schmidts. It must be how they cook it or something. I think the next time I come here I’ll order the sausage platter since all my Unilocal friends have been recommending it. Thanks guy for recommending the pretzel, I would just clarify the price of it was well because it was not cheap! You pay $ 9 for that pretzel which is huge as you can tell from all the pictures on here. It comes with a buttery cheese ball and spicy mustard. I’m definitely bringing my buddies here next time just to share that big pretzel with me! I hope everyone goes out of their comfort zone like me and give this place a try.

My wife and I have been here on three separate occasions. We have come late afternoon/early evening on Sunday. Unfortunately the the experience has always been much the same. Due to time of day and week of our visit it has never been busy but the service has been horrible. Service. We have found that we wander in until we find someone and then are directed to find a seat. Never an issue as it has been empty but seating is odd with mostly either really big tables or high tops in the bar area your only choice. Wait staff is slow to come to table and once first drink and food order are made we don’t see them again until food comes out. The next time we see them is when the check comes. Two bottles of beer are it for the meal and they bring the check? Nice beer selection but if no one comes to the table it is hard to generate sales. We did get a great view of the wait staff and bar tender as they do spend a lot of time visiting with each other during our stay. We had to get up and go to the bar, interrupt their conversation and ask them to come bring us drinks. Food is at best OK. Sausages are not that good and sides are not much better. There is a variety to choose from but quality is not there. With other options in the area we have taken this off of our list. It is close and we tried to give it a chance but after three tries we have chosen to move on. As intriguing as the name and concept sound this one misses the mark.

Sausage is greasy, salty and tough. Food is typically cold. The non-fried sides are average to good. Fried foods are gross. Service is friendly, but slow and will not remove empty plates.

Service is slow, tables are sticky, and the condiments at the table needed cleaned off.(dried on the caps and down the sides of the bottle) I just felt gross being in here. Potato salads were very good, but other than that, good luck. Yuck.

Excellent food and wonderful service. The most uncomfortable seating you’ll ever experience but still 5 stars.

A truly amazing place to eat! All of the food I’ve tried has been amazing. My favorites are the giant pretzel with cheese and the fish and chips. All of the food tastes fresh and not frozen, even the fish. They offer plenty of alcoholic drinks to choose from. And the sweet tea is some of the best I’ve had up north. The place is usually full but they have plenty of seats both indoors or outdoors so you never have to wait long. My fiancé and I have taken many people here from out of town because it is one of the best places. If you are in town it is a must visit.

Food is good, waitstaff friendly, competent, but busy. We stop here each year on our way to visit family in the Midwest. It’s a sports bar so expect loud music and lotsa folks cheering some team. But they’re all nice and polite – just loud. And the food is worth a try –maybe more than one. This year our server Norma was especially memorable. Friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had a very nice time.

If you like Schmidt’s you will love Wurst und Bier. They have lunch specials that include 2 sides(one of which is fries and you get to choose the other) This is a great deal as it’s the same price as a normal lunch but you get an extra side. Not all of the sides are included but the choices are still good. The food was fantastic, and our server did a great job. Order: Laugenbrezel $ 3.99 Five ounce fresh baked German soft pretzel. Mustard is hot, mild and sweet. The mild was good, the hot had too much vinegar, but the sweet was the best Farmer’s Bratwurst(Hot) $ 6.99 Topped it with caramelized onions & German sauerkraut. Sides: Fries — these fries are the best Berlin Style Potato Salad –sliced imported German pickles, shallots, parsley, vinegar and mustard in a light mayonnaise dressing. German Potato Soup

Love the Pretzels!!! So much so that we had to do a quick stop on our way to Dayton! Pretzels are very reminiscent of Germany.

To cut to the chase, skip the schnitzel. The place is called«Wurst und Bier» and that’s what anyone visiting here should stick with. Visiting Columbus on business, I waned to sample some German fare that this city is known for. My boss and I headed to Wurst Und Bier for dinner. I was afraid it was just another loud, themed sports bar, but we visited on a Saturday evening, and the noise level was not bad. There was even a musician on an accordion entertaining the crowd, and it made for pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant serves families and sports fans, judging by the décor and the number of TV’s around the room. There’s a great selection of German beers on tap, local Ohio craft beers, and run of the mill American beers. I had a Hoegaarden and a Paulaner Doppelbock. I was daring and decided to get the veal schnitzel dinner, with a side of red cabbage and potato pancakes. Food came out relatively quickly, but neither apple sauce or sour cream were offered for my potato pancakes, and my veal schnitzel was naked– no gravy, no nothin’. The cutlet was very salty, too. Server brought out sour cream upon request for my potato pancakes which were not bad. My boss got a traditional currywurst, and said he enjoyed it. We ventured into dessert and got two cream puffs. The first sign of trouble was when I poked the filling with my fork and it sprung back. I tried to cut through the pastry with my fork and was denied. This«cream puff» was rock hard! We then resorted to forks and knives to attempt to get inside the dessert, but after all that work, we were greeted with a cold, tasteless pastry. The waitress didn’t seem too concerned when she saw us attacking dessert with our tools and we told her about our experience. «Oh, I’ll tell the kitchen that we should get new ones, I guess.» New ones? For a town with a huge German heritage and influence, this place didn’t impress me. Like I said, ignore the rest of the menu, stick with the beer and sausages.

In one sentence. Server was great, food was good, food was slow. The beer selections are certainly authenticate and quite delicious. I personally ordered the sausage sampler and the sausage was filling and tasty. I especially liked the sauerkraut as well. A couple of other people in our party had the schnitzel and would not stop talking about it. Kids were happy, parents were happy. Décor is a little odd. Doesn’t really come together but they are certainly trying. Looks like a fast food joint from the parking lot but promises a lot more.

Stopped in here because we had a craving for German food(and didn’t feel like cooking it ourselves). Atmosphere: it sits at the end of a row of restaurants right near the movie theater. It’s set pretty far back from the primary roads, so you have to know how to get back there(or use GPS). There is a lot of exterior seating available(though it was far too cold for us). There is a large entry area with all the seating off to the left. I really like the bench/picnic table style seating in the main dining areas. It gave a remotely beer hall feeling to it. I noticed a bar in the back left of the restaurant with some seating around it. Overall, the restaurant felt like a combination beer hall/American sports bar, with German-themed decorations. Staff: they were polite, attentive, and professional. Our glasses were never empty and our food brought promptly. Food: we ordered fried pickles(non-German appetizer), which were exceptional. It tasted as if they pickles were at least German. I ordered the Fladenbrot, which appeared and tasted as if it were inspired by Flammkuchen. My girlfriend ordered sausage plate which was German-inspired as well and she enjoyed. The portions were more than enough to fill us up and the price was definitely low for the amount of food we received. Overall, we were pleased with this restaurant. It is definitely German-inspired, which makes it fun and enjoyable. If you’re looking for authentic, I would choose this place first, but for what it is we will definitely return.

I would say going here was a great start to 2015. The husband and I went out when we realized we didn’t have any sauerkraut and the pork wasn’t fully defrosted — have to stick to traditions! We went for an early dinner, and considering it was also an OSU game day, the place was pretty empty when we showed up. Our waitress was also tending bar, so while she may not have been as attentive as she could have been, she was covering a lot of the restaurant by herself. After perusing the menu, I decided on pork Schnitzel with a side of the Berlin style potato salad and steamed broccoli. I also ordered a side of potato pancakes as an appetizer. The husband ordered the sausage platter with the German brat and the Farmer’s mild brat. It came with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut(yay!) and he ordered an extra side of red cabbage. The food came out fairly quickly. My potato pancakes came out first, with a side of applesauce. They were really tasty with not too strong of an onion flavor. There were also a lot of them, and not much applesauce, but it was really tasty. Our meals came out next — everything looked really good. My schnitzel was awesome, cooked perfectly. The potato salad was some of the best potato salad I’ve ever had, and my have to find a way to replicate the recipe so I can have it more often. The husband’s sausages were really tasty. The German brat was a bit spicy and the Farmer’s mild brat was very mild and smooth. I wasn’t too impressed with the sauerkraut, but he said it was good for what it was. The mashed potatoes were very excellent and the red cabbage was amazing. We got dessert to go, I ordered the apple strudel and he got the Kaiserschmarrn. The apple strudel was amazing — seriously amazing. The Kaiserschmarrn was also really good, but I preferred the strudel. The beer selection was really good, a nice choice of German beers on tap and in a bottle. The only downside was the couple questions we had about the beer, the waitress wasn’t able to answer. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely be going back for good German food.

I’m of two minds about this restaurant. While I very much enjoyed the food and beer selection, the service was very slow. It took approximately 45 – 50 minutes for us to receive our food and then it took several more trips by the waitress for us to get all of the side dishes and dips that we had ordered. Had the restaurant been busy, the slow service would have been understandable, however the restaurant was barely half full. I do hope that aspect of the business gets better. Now, on to the food. I had their fish and chips, which was very good. The potions were generous, the fish was tasty and flaky while the chips were crisp and not soggy at all, which made me very happy. I did enjoy ordering from their extensive beer menu, which is clearly a strength with this restaurant. They have so many good options for beer, you shouldn’t be bored with their selection. The prices for food and beer are also very reasonable. All in all, the food was good, the beer selection even better, however the service on that night could have been better.

My favorite new place! Seriously… I love it! So #1 — cheap as hell! #2 — they have this fellow working there named Dean — LOVE him! He is wonderful… he makes spot on suggestions, educates you on German cuisine and has a great sense of humor! #3 — BEER #4 — MUSTARD #5 — BRATS #6 — SAUERKRAUT #7 — REUBEN #8 — Did I mention beer? Oh yea… yes, I did! This is, for sure, my new go-to for nights I dont want to cook!
