The steak tiblets was no good… it had no salt it was tasteless. the only thing that was good was cornbread and Mash potatoes, but even that need salt. the corn was also good … and sauce they had that went with steak was disgusting.. my bf had the rib and they also didn’t have no taste. It reminds me of a rib u can get in Chinese take out … for those prices I could went else where… my suggestion is to add flavor to your food. and the service was just ok … nothing special.

Great customer service. Everyone seemed to genuinely like working there. Smiles and friendly service all around. Went with a party of 8(including kids) and everything we ordered was delicious; riblets, baby back ribs, burgers, broasted chicken, fries, sweet potato fries, mashed potatoes, corn, coleslaw. The portions were more than generous and each entrée came with a salad and two sides so there was plenty of food. We skipped the appetizers this time but hope to go back to try their appetizers and dessert.

This place is great. Its been around at least 20 years that i can remember but probably much longer then that. The food is excellent, I usually have prime rib, shell-steak, and a few months ago they had a rib let and lobster tail combo(not sure if it that’s still available). The way the restaurant is designed in way that even when the place is packed it is never too loud. Prices here compared to other steak houses are much lower.

Drinks are wonderful! Atmosphere is great, food needs some work but isn’t bad by any means. If you’re expecting real BBQ look somewhere else this is more of an American spot that makes some BBQ. BBQ sauce is heavy tomato based with a hint of vinegar seems more like a thin cocktail Sauce without horseradish. We had burgers me and my lady she had the California burger and I had the BBQ burger, the BBQ burger was great except for one thing and I’m guessing I was just unlucky with their homemade buns, but my bun was extremely tough and hard to chew detouring me from enjoying the burger as a whole. My lady’s bun was similar but not nearly as bad as mine. Salad was wonderful, corn was a serious disappointment, they advertise it on the Cobb but it’s just out of a can and heated with no butter or seasonings

Even though we live local we havent been here in several years because of bad experiences with the female manager who I’m not sure is there anymore. Had we seen her on this visit we would have walked out. She was that bad so hopefully she isnt still there. Anyway, decided to give it a try for lunch. Interior is nice and much like what I remember. Lunch special include potato chips. Seriously? How about fries or a vegetable, not potato chips. That was the first thing I didnt like so didnt get a lunch special. Salad was standard, dressing was good. Tuscan chicken sandwich with mesclun salad, roasted peppers and onions was good though light on the chicken. Side of broccoli and BBQ potatoes was standard stuff. French dip was fine but strangely it costs $ 1 extra for cheese. I thought cheese was normal on a french dip. It was a good sandwich, side of carrots were OK and sweet potato fries were average though there was a charge of $ 1.99 extra for them which we didnt realize until we got the bill. It was listed on the menu but the server didnt mention it. Ended up being $ 19 for French dip and a soda. All in all the food was decent but the prices too high. Ended up $ 45 for lunch of two sandwiches and two sodas. Too much for the average quality of the food. Service was good and staff friendly. Given the prices compared to other local places we wouldnt return for lunch.

I’m sitting here tonight for my mom’s birthday(it’s one of her favorite restaurants). My sister made a reservation, because there are 12 of us. Kids eat free Sunday through Thursday, and my sister specifically asked if that was the case when she made the reservation. The person on the phone gave a simple, «Yes». Turns out that it’s 2 kids per table– that’s fair. However, we are a table with 7 paying adults. I’m sure there have been times when a couple has taken their two children here. We have almost 2 adults for every one child in our party. My parents come here ALLTHETIME. The manager and my father were haggling as if we were buying a used car. 3 free kids were his limit. My dad said, «We can easily be two separate tables. What if I sat over there?» The manager’s reply was, «If you’re willing to do that, be my guest.» What a dick. I won’t be coming back here any time soon.

Wow I used to love this place, but the quality has been declining everytime I return. The quality is decreasing, but the prices keep increasing. Last time I came, I tried to order Prime Rib… I was stopped by the waitress, she told me the machiene that cooked the prime rib was broken! Instead of her suggesting something else on the menu, she awkwardly stared at me while I flipped through the menu to see what else I could order. I chose the baby back ribs, big mistake! Whoever butchers their ribs… butchered them(if you know what I mean). They didn’t remove the membrane underneath the rib and not realizing until after i bit in, I thought I was going to be sick when I saw what I put into my mouth. The ribs also came with shrimp scampi… 4 lousy HARD shrimp over some HARD barely cooked rice. I’m very upset because I used to enjoy this place so much, but in the recent years it has become more and more disappointing. Hopefully they will go back to the way things were 10+ years ago!

I love this place, the food is amazing. Worth every buck! How beer, the service is a bit slow, but that’s okay because the food makes up for it. I usually order the combo– ribs and chicken. The portion is huge, I can never finish it. FYI: ask for corn bread(dinner only)

The Spare rib has been around for years. I returned after a decade or so absence. I was surprised by the quality of the food and the portions were excellent. I tried the baby back ribs along with the buffalo wings. Both were among the better choices available on long island. The side salad was excellent as well. The service was excellent and fast as well. I cant find a complaint. Its a mazing how you can be economical with words when a business just things right. The spare rib has a new regular.

Lunch specials are a great bang for your buck but if you end up in the bar area, please be patient because the bartender ends up serving you, busing the tables, ringing up the orders and the check.

The ribs taste like refrigerated & defrosted. I prefer the Mom&Pop Chinese spare ribs. They actually put the effort to prepare delicious & tender ribs.

It is ok food. Not bad, but not good. I was really excited about this place but when I walked in the place looked so outdated. The specialty drinks are the best thing going on at this place and the appetizers were pretty good. The entrees were extremely disappointing and the sides too. The fries were so bland and tasteless worst fries ever.

My friend recommended we try this place and she always comes here but when we went, it was pretty much all bad. I had riblets and shrimp and the breading on the shrimp was flavorless, lukewarm, and huge! It came right off the shrimp and had initially made my shrimp look much larger than they were. The riblets were okay, I brought them home for my dad and he wasn’t a fan. My brother wasn’t crazy about his chicken dish either. It was all just very, very underwhelming. I won’t be coming back.

Ate there tonight for the 1st time. The food was excellent. I had the fried soft shell crabs. Fried perfectly. For dessert we had the funnel cake with ice cream and the brownie sundae both were delicious! A definite recommend!!!$

What has happened to The Spare Rib? Although a favorite of mine for decades, my most recent meal was so awful that I am contemplating writing it off the list forever. It started the moment we walked into an almost empty restaurant and were greeted by a waiter who looked as though he had just woken up. Dirty and unshaven is not the most appealing way for a restaurant to welcome its guests. At least 6 other employees were gathered around the cashier’s desk doing nothing, just talking among themselves. We were given menus and ordered. Drinks ok and a nice bread basket. And then my salad came. More dressing then salad — kind of like lettuce in Caesar soup. And then our wait began. About every 15 minutes our waiter would return to the table to say our meals would be right out. This must have happened 4 or 5 times. We waited more than an hour to get a Cobb salad and the famous steak tidbits. On the verge of walking out, our lunch was finally served — and with an apology… «We ran out of baked potatoes. What would you like instead?» Maybe the potato supplier knows something that we don’t. Although my wife’s salad was acceptable, my tidbits were terrible. Ordered medium rare they were obviously reheated and came to the table dark grey throughout. They tasted worse then they looked. Our waiter continued apologizing but did nothing for us. BTW — although probably not his fault for the long delay or the terrible meal, not once did he offer to refill our drinks or make our wait tolerable.

The steak tidbits are enough reason to go to this place. I’ve had a few burgers medium rare can’t go wrong with that either. If you’re going for a big party of more than four on the weekend on a Friday or just or Saturday you could possibly spent a half an hour wait so be prepared.

Don’t be deceived by gift certificates. I purchased one for the spare rib because I was there prob like 10 years ago and it was decent. Upon entering we were told that they don’t except them. Fine at this point with a very hungry two and a half year old we stayed So apps. I decided to try a little of everything. I ordered the drunken pickles for my wife, baked clams for myself and pasta for our daughter to get her started. Now I do hafta say the cornbread is absolutely out of this world out daughter agreed. The drunken pickles came and my wife ate one of the grease bombs with fire sauce and pushed it aside. I looked down at my clams and they looked like stuffed peppers. I didn’t eat one. Now at this point you’d think the waitress would see two uneaten apps and ask questions. Nope. Salads taste old and dressing is watered down. Our daughters pasta bland. Be carefull with drinks because the fact that the waitress doesn’t like to bring you a drink they charge per drink. When you’re allowed to drink. Now for entrees my wife ordered the full slab of baby back ribs, I ordered the steam pot which included mussles, clams, lobster tail, shrimp, potato and corn on the cob. My wife’s ribs this is the ONLYREASONTOCOMETOTHESPARERIB. Their baby backs when not burnt taste absolutely amazing. My pot and it was a pot I took out a shrimp and I coulda bounced it better than a super ball. Over cooked. I tried a mussel gritty over cooked. I searched for a lobster tail and found the small one yet decided for a clam, this would put the nail in the coffin for this place I literally CHOMPEDON A CLUMPOFSAND! I told the waitress Nd decided to get a half rack being It was a sure shot. A manager came of literally 5 mins later w a plate. Sure enough my ribs were burnt. But the part that wasn’t tAsted great. Let’s just say spending 100 bucks leaving hungry and feeling swindled I won’t be coming back here with the family.

Uhhh, I don’t know, this place has always been a mixed bag in terms of food and service quality. Growing up in this area, I’ve been here more than a few times over the past few years. I’ve had some decent meals here and some not so great experiences. A deal recently brought me back. This is basically a grease spoon serving up «bbq» comfort food. Most menu items comes served fresh from the deep fryer. Quality is mediocre at best. The burgers tend to be a better option and would recommend sticking with that. They are usually big, juicy, and quite good. Ribs(their specialty), tend to very grizzly. Steaks are way overpriced for what this is. I dined for the first time in awhile yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the updated décor. Really nice dining environment with lots of leather added booths and dark woods. The bar area was also quite nicely upgraded and would return for their 2−4-1happy hour(M-F, 4 – 6)for drinks and an app. Had Great South Bay on tap, so that was a plus! Would definitely recommend for a quick bite and a brew. A noticed improvement in décor.
