Food was good but it took forever and the manager was sitting at the bar taking inventory instead of managing. Had to get up and ask for drink refills

Place was closed on a Tuesday evening. Birthday girl had to find another place to have her dinner. What a load of BS. Handwritten note with no explanation behind«unforeseen circumstances». Sounds like piss poor management. This is why I cannot stand Saltgrass. Every one I have attended has had some side of colossal issue.

The excessively cold air conditioning is what gives this restaurant a four-star review instead of 5 star review. The steaks were phenomenally tasty and the service was spot-on. We arrive early enough in the afternoon where the restaurant wasn’t full when we first got there, but it did fill up very quickly. The waitress was very attentive and ensured that our drinks faithful as did our bread plates and our stomachs. The steaks and the side dishes were cooked to Perfection and we took turns sampling off of each other’s plates, all which were extremely delicious.

Went to Salt Grass Saturday and ordered the 90z prime rib very rare with a wedge salad and baked potato. Well the wedge salad was not traditional and had some kind of sweet dressing a few bacon sprinkles and very little chopped tomatoes but the lettuce was very cold. Not that great… The prime rib was cooked well done with lots of fat and gristle. I’m so mad at myself for not sending it back but I hate complaining and dealing with all that. Asked for second serving of bread but our waiter was either to busy or just forgot. Usually Salt Grass is my go to place for prime rib but this time I guess Salt Grass just didn’t care! I’m going to try Outback Steakhouse prime rib next time I get the craving, plus they are 3 bucks cheaper!

The service was miserable. The server, Corey, was full of excuses for everything he forgot. He lacked professionalism and character. The food was room temp when it arrived. Will NOT every return.

Got the Chicken Laredo and it was delicious. I did have one bite that was super spicy, but I was expecting some spice. Our server was great and we never felt like we were forgot about or had to look around for him. Mac & Cheese was creamy and delicious! Love this place !

Décor: For a restaurant that charges more than Outback or Roadhouse, I was disapointed that the interior wasn’t more upscale. The exterior was brightly lit and clean. The interior was pretty dim and one of the chair seats at our table was cracked. We were seated in a back area with heavy curtains. There was a vacuum directly behind us that staff were messing with near the end of our meal. Waitress/Hostess: The hostess didn’t really smile but showed us to our table efficiently. Our waitress seemed stressed but checked up on us often. She wasn’t overly friendly but not rude either. Food: The bread is good. It had a very crispy exterior with a soft interior. Eaten alone, it was rather dry but paired with the sweet butter, it was better. I got the steak soup which was incredibly salty, almost to the point of being inedible. It didn’t have much texture and I needed the bread to counterbalance the salt. My entrée was the K-Bob with Mac and Cheese. I only took a few bites of the Mac and Cheese but didn’t care for the amount of separated butter/grease at the bottom of the dish. It came out piping hot though. The K-Bob was the biggest disappointment of the night. I got 4 medallions– 2 of which came out medium well and 2 of which came out closer to the medium I had asked for. The medium well pieces were thinner and were incredibly dry. The vegetables were completely uncooked but had burned sear marks on them. It was basically raw zuchini, red bell pepper, poblano, and red onions. What put me off the most was that there was not a lick of salt or pepper on the steak or the vegetables. I don’t know if it was just the K-bobs that don’t get seasoning but it was very bland and, paired with being overcooked, probably the worst steak I’ve eaten. All in all, a very disappointing experience that I will be happy to never repeat again.

Ordered drinks. Waiter forgot. Ordered Steak Soup and got a very sad potato soup. Ordered Chicken Fried Steak and was difficult to cut and eat. Our friends were very happy with their ribs and steak soup. Probably wouldnt go back as there are many restaurants at a better price point and food quality in the Conroe area.

Worst service I have ever got at a Salt Grass and definitely in my top 5 worst of all time. I gave two stars because the food was good. 15 minutes to get drinks, another 20 minutes before we could even order, add another 15 minutes just to get salads, and then another 20 minutes to get food. Oh, almost forgot to mention we had to beg another server for our check because our waiter was trying to go home. The server we pleaded with for a check brought out 4 checks and asked which one ours was. We paid with cash and left a hefty tip just to escape. We considered it a ransom payment so we could be free. Our quick dinner took right at 2 hours. During our stay we noticed two tables get up and walk out. Empty tables were staying dirty at least 20 minutes before they were bussed. Every one coming in was being sat in the bar because they were trying to close sections, at 7:30??? A table on one side of us never got their soup… seems it was getting cold on a tray on the other side of our table. *see pic. Another server brought it out and simple sat it down on a tray and walked away. Guess it was like show and tell but you can’t eat it. We will have to go to a different Salt Grass next time. Or maybe a different steak house all together.

Usually the food is actually pretty good. The problem is for the price you can do better. But my problem is with the management and some terrible customer service I have received. Lost reservations, long food wait times, and they even lost my Landrys card. Never once have been even asked if they could make it up somehow or problems ever fixed. You can go next door to outback which to me is a much more casual restaurant and the management is far better. Why would you pay more for less service? I never write negative reviews, and I felt the need for this one.

First the pros: it was poring cats & dogs when we arrived; the hostess gave us dinner napkins to dry off with & seated our group of seven fairly quickly. Our server was attentive without being overbearing & got all our orders correct. I ordered the 6 oz filet with seasoned vegetables; which was cooked exactly medium rare & the veggies were well cooked. Our dinner salads were good & I love their croutons. Cons: Mr wasn’t thrilled with his ribeye. He said it lacked flavor & was not medium rare. Others in the group were so-so with their meals. When the plates came to our table the presentation was horrific. The food looked like it was slapped on the plate in a big rush or something. An order of Grilled shrimp on a skewer was barely on the plate much less in the center; without any garnish or anything. They were busy last night & maybe understaffed in the kitchen but the presentation was not up to Saltgrass standards.

Visited on Christmas Eve. Food was less than mediocre. Everything came out lukewarm. Service was sloooooow. If you order lemonade, plan on getting your drinks 15 minutes later than everyone else. Even thought salt grass is a chain, I have always thought their food was very good and a nice treat to go to eat. This location is terrible way too often to pull out $ 100 per meal. I’d rather drive 10 miles down the road and visit the Shenandoah location.

Went here for dinner Sunday night. We ordered the ribeye steak with sweet potatoe fries and onion rings as sides. Neither were hot and the ribeye steak was the thinest steak I’ve ever seen… Maybe ¼th inch thick? Won’t be going back.

This is the best American food I have found since moving to Conroe. I have loved here for six months and this place hit the spot better than anywhere else. I went in a skeptic because of some of these reviews, and came out a believer. Service was great food was great and atmosphere was great. For an appetizer i got he artichoke dip, and it was better than expected. I ordered the baby back ribs. They literally fell off the bone. I tried cutting up the ribs and just smashed it into a big pile of pork because it was so fall off the bone. That was bomb. The waiter was awesome very friendly dude. Restrooms were clean enough to go number two. Overall i enjoyed this visit alot. I will definitely be a returning customer.

Upon entering the restaurant, I found the light level fairly low. I don’t know if it was because of my eyes adjusting from coming in from the sunlight, or if it truly was a dark entry room… I was meeting up with some friends for lunch who had already been seated, so I slipped past the hostess stand to sit with my group. There was a menu and a drink menu in my vacant spot waiting for me. The waiter, seeing me arrive, came over and asked what I would like to drink. Not sure what I was in the mood for, I asked what sodas they had available. He began listing off the different carbonated beverages they had, and then told me that they had pink lemonade, or fresh, squeezed lemonade behind the bar. I opted for the fresh lemonade, crossing my fingers that I wasn’t going to be puckering too badly by the time I left. The waiter brought me a glass of ice water, and then went to get my lemonade. When he returned, he set my drink before me. Gingerly, I leaned forward and took a sip of my yellow drink, and found it slightly, but not annoyingly sour. You could tell that it was, indeed, freshly squeezed but sweetened so as not to be overpowering to the taste buds. Lovely. My companions chose chicken strips with a baked potato, crab cakes with a small caeser salad, and I chose the hickory chicken with asparagus.(I know… Call me crazy!) Our meal arrived at the same time, and everything looked wonderful. I didn’t get a chance to try my friend’s foods, but I can certainly tell you about mine! The hickory chicken was fantastic. The chicken breast had a hard-hitting, char-grilled flavor to it. Beautifully moist and tender… It was topped with succulent mushrooms. Soft, but not overcooked. The mushrooms still had a nice chew to it, but not a rubbery, over-cooked texture. On top of that, was a piece of melted cheese and bacon bits… I know, just the sound of it makes you drool! However… The asparagus was a disgrace. It was tough, crunchy, and undercooked. The thick stalks of asparagus were sprinkled with a spice powder that did nothing for the flavor. I know that some people prefer their asparagus cooked to al dente, but they were practically raw! A big disappointment that costs an extra $ 1.99… Don’t waste your two bucks. Overall, the waiter was very nice, helpful, and patient. We were also greeted and asked to come back by several staff members as we left. I would probably return to this restaurant again… But, I won’t order the asparagus!
