Wow! First time to walk into this place looking for some Cuban Coffee. I wanted to walk around my neighborhood(I live in Coral Gables) to see what was new and decided to go into this establishment for the first time. The customer service was rude and terrible. Not only did I not receive a greeting from the older blonde«Italian» lady behind the counter but when I asked if she had any Cuban Coffee she looked at me as if I were from Mars and told me in a rude tone«No Cuban Coffee here, only Espresso». It was only a question, after all we live in Miami, hello? Well after she made me the one shot espresso which was $ 1.95 I paid her with a two dollar bill(I never carry any cash) She told me that it was $ 2.09 with tax and I told her that I could pay her with a Credit Card or come back later on(I live just around the corner) and give her the .09 cents in Cash if she preferred. She took my credit card and processed the payment. I told her«Mam do you know that you’re actually going to loose more money in this transaction than if you would have taken my $ 2.00 dollars? After all it was my first time here and a savvy business person would have been smart and took the money and ask me to come back again. She told me «sorry, the price is $ 2.09 so thank you and good bye». She then turned her back on me and kept on walking. It boggles my mind how many people start or run a business without the slightest idea of what customer service is. I am a business man and I do know how to treat my clients and I am aware that if I was anything like this old rude lady I would be out of business right now. Bottom line, she lost one potential client and now I’m going to tell everyone I know around the neighborhood how lousy the service is at this establishment.

Great place to hangout or for conferences, free parking around. Easier to get to than Starbucks and better coffee/wifi.

After walking by a couple of times, I decided to finally walk in for one of their open source seminars. Well I am very pleased that I found my new hangout place to get my geek on! Not only is walking distance from where I live, the owners are super super nice. Also, the sandwiches and cakes were delicious too. Finally a tech oasis in Miami!

We had delicious latte’s, free wifi, and pleasant, relaxed conversation while we waiting for our uncooperative, overheating car to cool down. This café(sorry, Caffe) was super clean and friendly. Plus, we got our nerd on, reading up on some open source technologies. That was different!

Mom and pops little café going on. The old man and the woman is very nice and helpful. The woman makes all the cakes and pies from scratch. Sweet potato pie is good, something I would rarely find unless its at grocery store back home. Chocolate on top and thin layer of icing mmm. Chai tea was SUPERHOT, the sleeve won’t even protect you which I found hilarious. Anyway the drink is definitely good better than starbucks. If I was a local I would be coming here. Prices on the other hand ain’t cheap but it’s all good. Good place. Nice, quiet, pretty empty and its like almost next door so you can go there while your doing laundry like me :) 10% off on pastries or cakes on checking in.

Having lived 1 block away for less than 2 months, I have been into see former geophysicists Daniel and Leticia at least 10 times. Daniel always makes the Americanos strong, and is always up for good conversation. I have sat in their comfy chairs, looking out floor-to-ceiling windows, and read, netflixed, or completed work email to my heart’s content. I would recommend Planet Linux to anyone looking for a chill spot to get a cup of joe, those interested in anything open-source or Linux, or, as in my case, anyone who has a tech question about their computers. The few sandwiches, wraps, and pastries I’ve had always satisfy. I will miss spending hours on end in this welcoming café.

Excellent place to get your geek on or just chill out with out getting bothered by the Miracle Mile BS. Good drinks interesting list of events and no valet parking mafia out front. Food ok, although I would suggest open sourcing the menu. Oh and if you don’t understand what MiTM is you might want to turn off you WiFi. LOL, just kidding… really.

I found my little piece of heaven on earth at Planet Linux Café … It was in a little red man-chair, with a little black table, under a framed print of Kirk McKusick’s iconic little red devil Hexley. Surrounding me were open source junkies and hackers alike, tuned into a HackMiami presentation from internet celebrity Hubris of BackTrace Security who got internet famous for his involvement in backtracing«Anonymous» hacking cult. His presentation, «How to Hijack an LLC for $ 19.95» was engaging and relevant to the real world in which we do business. I came away with new knowledge, and inspiration, and a massive caffeine rush from the 3 espresso drinks I purchased and consumed during the presentations. Note taking abound! Support Planet Linux Caffe and the local Miami InfoSec and Open Source communities that frequent this location by stopping in for a strong cappuccino. You wont regret it, and you just might come away with some awesome ancient open source knowledge!

The perfect Linux distro bistro. Planet Linux is a wonderful, friendly café serving Miami’s tech community. You’ll find copies of Linux manuals and magazines in English and Spanish, along with a menu of dishes named after famous Linux distros and apps. You’ll find quite a bit of free parking on the side street and in the rear of the building. I really hope the place catches on with the local tech community… it’s a perfect spot for meetups.

As the name suggests, this is THE place for all things Linux. Planet Linux Caffe is a tech coffee shop with computers running open source operating systems, televisions broadcasting Google TV web conferences, and books, magazines and periodicals discussing all things open source. In short, this is the place for geeks, the open source community and tech lovers who speak in code. Don’t be intimated though. You don’t have to be a geek to enjoy the coffee, tea, sandwiches, empanadas, pies and desserts that Planet Linux has to offer. The atmosphere is welcoming, as is owner, Daniel Mery. Although I get the feeling he could talk Linux, open source, Android, Google and BSD until he’s cotton mouth, he doesn’t come at you with full geek force… unless you want him to, of course. The WiFi is free(you have to ask for the password) and the ambiance is more«cybercafe» than Starbucks. There are plenty of tables with chairs and larger stand-alone chairs for you to sit comfortably and pump out emails and blog posts, or eavesdrop on the hackers sitting next to you. Electrical outlets are available on the walls. On-street metered parking is available throughout Ponce de Leon Blvd. However, if you’re lucky, you may find a free parking spot in the residential neighborhood surrounding Planet Linux Caffe. Shhhh… don’t let anybody else in on this secret though.
