Came here for the first time today for breakfast. Great indoor or outside seating. I had the biscuits and gravy, the wife had make your own omelette. Both spectacular. Best breakfast in all of Orange County. Usually don’t love restaurants in mini malls, don’t pass this one up.

The short: Plums is a pretty solid, reliable Pacific NW-style brunch spot with decent prices and rarely a wait even at prime times. The long: — I love the brunch drink special: coffee/tea + mimosa for $ 9. Unlimited coffee, which should be a given but isn’t for too many places in OC. — I’m sucker for outdoor seating. Indoor can get loud due to lack of sound insulation. — The willamette pancakes! They’re really delicious, made very thin and stacked high. They put the fruit between each layer. Probably my favorite dish here. — I would pass on the pulled pork. There’s something about it that reminds me of store-bought bbq sauce. — Mexican dishes with feta cheese? Weird. I’m not a fan at all. — I did enjoy the salmon hash a lot. Probably my second favorite dish here, after the pancakes. All in all, I’ve been meh about as many dishes as I’ve liked here, which is kind of a shame. But! My sweetie loves this spot, so instead of 3 stars, I’m giving it a 4.

Finally it’s Saturday and I get the chance to try Plum’s Café. Very excited… With me, my lady and I were craving savory brunch food Saturday morning so we thought come here. We are locals and there are plenty of places to have brunch. Been hesitant on going because it’s pricier than your café down the road like Alta coffee, Pandor, or Eat chow. Upon arriving, the interior was really nice with an open kitchen and beautiful bar, I love that. But we decided on taking a seat outside since it was a beautiful sunny Saturday. The host and hostess were friendly and kindly brought us to our table. I like to get the crews suggestions even if you are just taking me to our table so she suggested biscuit and gravy. Definitely getting that. Ooo and I noticed a butterscotch pudding with candied bacon! Im saving room. Our server Scott was alright. We told him it’s our first time. So he went over a popular dish the Santa Fe Benedict and his favorite. Pretty much service ended there. I’ll tell you why… We got the biscuits and gravy and the shirred eggs. Delicious. But before our first bite Scott impatiently asked us how we were and how everything was tasting. Bro, 2 min or 2 bite. Read the table. A tip for serving. Then after visiting us to check on us again within another minute or so, he drops the check, barely finished half my meal. As you can tell I don’t enjoy to be rushed when Im paying $$ for eggs, a day off with my lady, and being our first time! The restaurant wasn’t full at the time and no wait, so why try to get us out of there… I didn’t even get to try that the butterscotch pudding. So sad but too bad.

HOLY S*&T!!! they has a savory pancake special when we went… SO glad we tried it, amazing! Good portion sizes, sooo much seating. When we called they said the wait would be 20 – 40 minutes but we were sat right away. YUM.

Today(Tuesday) drop by this restaurant. I search this breakfast from Unilocal, and see it has more than 1800 Unilocal reviews. It is interesting that it is a corner of a small-shopping plaza. Plaza is not impressive, but very close to Newport beach. The décor of the restaurant look very impressive/modern, remind me of restaurants in New York City or Hong Kong. Good design, I really like the bathroom, very nice. Hard to describe. The restaurant has a bar, strangely, this restaurant don’t serve dinner, just lunch/breakfast and special catering. My waiter is wonderful and very attentive, I don’t even have to ask about refill my ice-tea, he noticed. Very highly recommend this restaurant, will go there again if I am in the area.

From the outside, Plums doesn’t look all that appealing. The signage is bland, and the lot is drab. If it weren’t for the busy patio and people waiting in line to get in, I probably wouldn’t even see it. Prices are steep, but the ambiance is nice. I thought the tile in the bathroom was really pretty. Some of the pancakes looked great online, but I opted for the benedict and the boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy. He asked for his eggs to be scrambled. Instead, he was given over easy eggs in his meal and an extra order of scrambled eggs on the side. Fail. We didn’t say anything, and he just ate extra eggs. Haha. My benedict was good, but it lacked a bit in flavor. Once I added some green tapatio, it was much improved. Service was prompt, but they tried taking away our plates before we were finished, and the check came really early. I felt like we were being rushed out of there, which isn’t the feeling I wanted on a Saturday morning.

The BEST brunch place in Orange County. It’s so good a friend forced me to pick up my pace during a half marathon so we wouldn’t miss our reservation! This place can get REALLY packed, with an average wait time north of an hour, so I strongly suggest you make a reservation. You could also get there early if you’re not too hungover from the previous night’s debauchery, but let’s be real. They’re known for their famous dutch baby, which is a giant pancake bowl dusted with powdered sugar and served with a side of bacon. However, the best thing on their menu is the DUNGENESSCRABOMELET. Whenever a place has crab on their menu, it’s usually a ploy to steal your money. Plum’s doesn’t operate like that. This crab omelet has CHUNKS of lump crab meat and is garnished with some asparagus and covered in a hollandaise sauce. You’ll get crab in every bite, and who doesn’t love that? Pair it with a side of their Oregon pepper bacon and it’ll be a party in your mouth and everyone’s invited. The bacon is literally the best I’ve ever had because it’s super flavorful and since it’s peppered, it takes away from the fat and grease normally associated with bacon. Everything comes with a side of their potatoes and some toast, but I’d recommend you ask them to skip the toast because you’ll be way too full from your entrée. The alderwood smoked salmon hash is also another item on the menu that truly shines. Like everything else, they don’t hold back with the salmon, ensuring you’ll be so full it’s gonna hurt to move. The drink menu is pretty extensive as well, because a proper brunch place should have a carefully thought out drink menu. Everyone knows the best cure for a hangover is more alcohol! I love their PDX Mint Mojito and you can always opt for the classic mimosa(unfortunately not bottomless), or you can be a bit fancier and get a bellini. Everything on their menu is made with fresh, high quality ingredients, and you can definitely taste it in every bite or sip. The staff is super helpful and friendly and the kitchen works at a feverish pace to get you your food in a timely manner, even with a packed house. There’s also outside seating if you want to people watch. I can’t wait to come back to this place!

We used Plums catering for an event we were having at our office for a client. Working with Cyndi was very easy. She catered to our needs, even last minute to make changes, and came up with the menu all on her own from input she asked us(everyone loved the food btw!). We had a lot of finger food at the event which included: Thai coconut shrimp shooters, pesto noodle sticks, flat iron steak sliders, buttermilk biscuit chicken salad sliders, a cheese and cracker plate which they set up next to all of our wine and a mini dessert tray. They bring all of the plastic ware and serving utensils, napkins, etc. which is great so you do not need to worry about the little items… they handle it all! We also rented 4 high cocktail tables from them with navy blue linens to match our logo. Liz who came to the office to set everything up did a great job. I would highly recommend using Plums for any of your catering event needs… they are very professional and you can always count on all your guest to enjoy the food! Thanks again!

Beautiful dishes with integrity of ingredients and taste. A wonderful experience from friendly and accommodating customer service to straight up good yumminess. The design of the restaurant is on point… It does not feel like you’re in a strip mall. The washrooms and bar set up are good inspo if your thinking about that remodel. The specials are worth the risk of an unforgettable foodie experience. The coconut French toast is a must(if you like coconut!) *pictured. Thank you, Plums, for making life more beautiful.

This is the best brunch place I have eaten at. I really enjoyed the flavors of all the foods. I got the Salmon Hash and felt the salmon was a little dry but the taste was there. My wife and I split the chocolate banana waffle with Carmel. That was very good. It had a cream that also went with it that gave it a moistness that it needed. The atmosphere was nice. It has kind of a Northwest vibe to it. The décor was upscale and Had a nice bar to go along with it. When in Newport I will come back.

I love this place! I’m usually not a breakfast food person, but I love getting brunch with my friends every now and then. We came on a nice day, so we opted to sit outside, although the outside seating doesn’t look as nicely decorated as the inside. I had a blood orange Bellini which was ok. Nothing extraordinary, but it came in a very large shot glass of sorts instead of the traditional flute. I ordered the steak and eggs. Everything was very flavorful and so delicious, but I was a little taken aback at the fact that I had asked for it medium rare, but it came back WELLDONE. I didn’t send it back, though, because I was starving and didn’t want to wait. For dessert, my friends and I split a chocolate waffle, and it was out of this world. Highly recommend. I will definitely be back!

Brunch is absolutely my favorite meal and I almost always order the same dish: eggs benedict. Seeing that the Santa Fe eggs benedict is one of the highlights, I got super excited and had huge expectation. However, the dish was underwhelming. It was just ok, not too memorable. The bread was rather dry. Potatoes were crispy but lacking in flavor. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I might come back to try something else, like the Dutch baby. What I do like is the restroom. I know it’s weird but I was impressed with how elegant/bright/spacious it is. Oh and the coat hook is in the shape of a stick figure — so cool. I want the same hook for my place now!

I’m not sure why this place has so many people visiting. The service was kinda cold the day we visited. It was a Saturday 2pm, maybe they were ready to go home. We had a baked egg dish, it was such a small plate, I don’t think I remember much of it. We also got a banana chocolate pancake, which was good, but also very heavy. A huge whip cream on top. But if that’s what you are looking for, you might love this place! Overall, nothing special, slightly pricey, and cold service.

I looooove brunch. Sooooo much so that I made it all the way out to the OC from LA to hit this place with my friends lol. I’m not a morning person. Worth it? Sure. I came with like… seriously around 20 people lol and surprisingly enough… we managed to get ourselves a big table. I mean, tables were moved around so we could form a giant table, but it works lol. Service was fantastic, especially considering we had that many people and we all wanted all sorts of different shit at different times, mimosas here, mimosas there… mimosas everywhere… lol. I ordered this… Vietnamese pork bowl LOL. Ok whatever, don’t judge, it sounded good on the description. And it was! But my Viet friends gave me shit for ordering that at an American brunch place… but whateva. The dish was basically grilled(I think) pork served on a bed of sliced potatoes and topped with perfectly poached eggs, julienned carrots, and a nice bunch of cilantro. And sriracha. YUM! It was actually really yummy, but also really simple. They offer tons of delicious brunch dishes, and I think everyone enjoyed their food. We also ordered mimosas sooooo that was awesome lol.

This was my second time coming here and I remembered it always being busy with a line, that’s because it’s delicious! Come early if you can because parking is a nightmare. They do have valet, but I think that’s just ridiculous… IMO. I came here for brunch with my friend because he’s been craving something here, the Dutch pancake. Although after reading all the goodness of the menu, he ended up ordering something else. I couldn’t really have any fatness or carbs, I ended up ordering the avocado turkey sandwich with oregon bacon and cilantro mayo. Oh so yum. I loved the sandwich and it was tasty. The bread kind of scraped the top of my mouth, but I didn’t care at the moment(I do now!). I order earl grey tea with honey + cream, that was delicious also… went well with my sandwich. My friend ordered the coconut french toast. I envied him, b/c it was sooooooooooooooooooo goood!!! I took a bite with all the fruits it came with. UGH!!! Jelly! He is this scrawny guy and said that he wouldn’t be able to finish it(three giant fat slices) and at the end, his plate was left empty with a few droppings of maple syrup. I wouldn’t definitely come back, but maybe a little earlier. We went on a Saturday at noon and we were able to get a seat within 10 mins. Mind you, it was sprinkling that morning so I don’t know if that made a difference. I believe they take reservations.

This post is long overdue. But I had to praise Plums for their wonderful brunch food. I no longer remember exactly what I ordered, so my apologies if I get the order names wrong. As with most of my food outings, I shared two dishes with one other person. We ordered the chicken sausage with over easy eggs and biscuits and gravy. Sausage and eggs: The best sausages I have ever had. What do they put in those little suckers? If I was going straight home after the meal, I would have ordered a dozen to go. Don’t know how they price it individually, though. But seriously though. I am not a sausage person. I usually don’t like to finish my sausages if I ever find them on my plate. So if I like them, you will probably too. You and the hundreds of other people who have raved about them. I happened to order it because I wanted to eat something on the lighter side. Not that it was the healthiest thing available, but it was lighter than biscuits and gravy. Speaking of… Biscuits and Gravy: Seeing just a picture of their version of biscuits and gravy will make you drool. Eating it will make you oh so happy. The biscuit was flaky yet moist, the bacon strips were hearty, the gravy had a rich flavor to it. There was nothing on that plate to be mad at. I was only mad that we accidentally dropped our leftovers on the floor later that night. They were too good! I highly recommend this spot for a breakfast. Little chicken sausages, I’ll come back for you again.

We went on a Sunday for brunch. The place was nice and clean and not noisy. We were early so we were seated within 10 minutes. So far so good. I ordered a medium rare Flat Iron Steak and Eggs. While the insides were medium rare, they burnt the outside instead of just searing it. The sauce was tasty but not enough. The good thing is they were cool with giving me some Hollandaise sauce which made it better. The eggs were so so. I was hoping for fluffy but with new patrons arriving every minute, the eggs were hurried. The potatoes which may have been hash browns were on the soft and mushy side instead of the crispy side. For $ 20 bucks the meal was a bit high, which would have been acceptable if the preparation was perfect. But given the fact that the portion was small and was burnt ruined it for me. Half of the family had the Santa Fe Eggs Benedict. There was a unanimous opinion that the ham was too salty. The eggs were on the firm side. Too bad. My son-in-law had smoked salmon which he thought was salty too. So you can see a pattern here. I initially thought mine was the only bad one, but we ordered 3 Santa Fe Eggs Benedict and 3 steak and eggs, and all had the same issues. It’s was our first time there and it’s hard to justify returning.

Came here on a Sunday morning & the wait was 30 minutes which wasn’t bad at all. We were seated outside so it was fairly loud, but that’s to be expected with a busy brunch spot. Santa Fe Eggs Benedict(3⁄5): I had one perfectly poached egg, but sadly my second one could have been a little runnier. The hollandaise sauce was the perfect consistency & the ham was good, but a little salty. The hash browns were super delicious though & cut through the salty bite especially paired with their house made ketchup. Berry Waffle(4⁄5): The waffle was nearly the perfect bite with all the right accompaniments, berries & whipped cream, that made it just the right amount of sweetness. I just wish the waffle was a tad bit crispier. Side of Bacon(5⁄5): Well cooked & delicious. I especially like the pepper! My meal was quite delicious and service was good. Prices may be a bit steep, but you definitely get what you pay!

This place is always bomb! I have NEVER left this place unhappy. Their food is top notch and service is great. I see people complaining about the location and the patio. People, GETOVERIT! Rent in that area is probably horrendous. From a business standpoint why fix something that isn’t broken?! They are always busy even with the location and patio furniture. So why pay more to upgrade when it essentially has no impact on bringing in and maintaining clientele? Point to take away– the food is absolutely amazing ALLTHETIME. The bacon will knock your socks off, the steak and eggs is fantastic, and the Santa Fe eggs Benedict with that chipotle sauce is nothing short of perfection! This place deserves more then 5 stars

UGHHH Plums is probably one of my favorite brunch places ever! Everything here tastes so good and very breakfast-y. It’s in a plaza where there are plenty of parking spaces. The restaurant is pretty big but be prepared to wait on weekends. I went on a Saturday once and I waited quite a while. But recently I went on a weekday and we were seated right away. I always always always prefer to sit outside than inside only because the outdoor seating is nice. It’s pretty big and sitting outside once in a while is great. Although the inside décor is very simple and contemporary. Me and my bf ended up sharing 2 dishes. Of course we ordered the Sante Fe Eggs Benedict! I LOVE the benedicts here! SOGOOD! The hash is like sliced up potatoes and it’s seasoned really well. The second dish we got was the trailblazer, which is essentially a breakfast burrito. It’s loaded with all the meats, eggs, avocados, beans, etc. It also comes with yummy salsa! The other time I came here I ordered the smoked salmon hash. This dish was pretty big so I would recommend sharing. It is also very delicious! YUM! Overall, Plums service and food are amazing! However, the prices can be a little high :(There are other places equally as good and cheaper. But Plums will always be one of my favorites! :)

Santa Fe Eggs Benedict– yum! ~$ 15 I came here on a Monday afternoon, so the restaurant was only half full(I’m sure it would be packed had I come on a weekend). My friend and I ordered, and waited… Waited… And waited for our food. When we needed our waiter’s attention, we proceeded to wait some more… The food was really 5 stars, but the service was lacking. Considering it really wasn’t that busy in the restaurant, I really don’t think it was acceptable he was no where to be seen/not attentive :( I liked the atmosphere and the décor of the restaurant tho. White tables and seats… The food was a little on the pricier side– my eggs Benedict was around $ 15, but I would still be come back for more ^_^ Parking is easy! The restaurant is in the corner of the plaza :)

Plums is awesome! Came here for the first time this morning and loved it! I had the Northwest berry waffle and my friend had the tuna sandwich with fries — both were delicious! I will definitely come back to Plums soon and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new breakfast spot in the Costa Mesa area!

I’ve been going to Plums for a while now. My boyfriend and I get Sunday breakfast there at least once a month. It’s a really yummy place to get some food after a workout. Location is on 17th street in Costa Mesa, close to Sidecar Donuts(mehehehe). It’s not the best looking restaurant in the world but they supposedly have one of the best restrooms(yes, there is a plaque with an award displayed in front of the restroom and yes, I do care about how clean/pretty the restrooms are). The outside patio eating area isn’t very great too but that doesn’t stop it from being so busy all the time. What’s getting into my tummy matters more for me ha. Anyways, food is solid and so satisfying/delicious. I have their build-your-own egg omelette usually and my boyfriend ALWAYS get the Vietnamese pork bowl. Omg, that thing is heavennnn. I’ve read reviews before about how the flavors are lacking… well, I’m definitely not a picky eater so I think it’s bomb and flavorful. But then again, I haven’t tried every single item on the menu. This restaurant is definitely a place to try at least once. Personally, it has become a tradition to come here for Sunday breakfast once in a while. Nothing like a good cuppa coffee and yummy potatoes.

Plums is a super popular brunch spot so come knowing to expect a long wait, lines, and a noisy/busy ambience if you choose to come on the weekend. With that said, the flavors of Plums isn’t lacking, per se, but it is pricey for what you get. For instance, I ordered the Coconut Toast which came with papaya, banana, strawberries and cost $ 17 with a $ 2 additional charge for thick pepper bacon on the side. The food is delicious, but not for the wait and the price. If you just want to see what the hype is all about, be my guest, but don’t have super high expectations.

Very cute brunch location! We sat outside on the patio where they had heat lamps on during the day to keep us warm. I ordered the raspberry pancakes which were stunning to look at, and a decent amount of food for the price. The pancakes had fresh raspberries, a raspberry sauce drizzled over it and on the plate, powdered sugar and a vanilla cream. The only thing I would have changed would have been the cream. It wasn’t quite sweet enough and took away from the flavor of the raspberries and pancakes. I also ordered orange juice on the side which tasted super fresh and hand squeezed! Totally recommend that ;)

So I got to say this place is not bad… I specifically came here for eggs Benedict and I comparing it to the corn beef hash Benedict at Oak Creek golf course. The chipotle hollandaise sauce is really good however I don’t like that it’s on top of a piece of bread I do enjoy when the yoke runs into the hashbrowns, but that doesn’t happen here. I’ve heard others say they aren’t flavorful and they are correct they are not flavorful unless you have lots of pepper and ketchup. Overall it’s a very nice restaurant they have other items on the breakfast menu which look pretty good and I think I will come back and try it again but it’s not better than Oak creek golf course for breakfast

Typical run of the mill brunch place. Food: Aesthetically pleasing, but nothing to write home about. This place is a bit overrated if you ask me. The quality of the food is great, but the flavor is just average, nothing special. I ordered the My boyfriend had the dutch baby, mostly because it looked cool in photos. Big mistake, don’t ever do that. It’s a deep dish pancake that is baked with tons of sugar and lemon. The rim was tasty, flaky, buttery and warm. However, trying to eat all other parts was so troublesome for both of us. We truly gave up, it was messy, sticky and just not worth it. The inside was either very dry or too oily, not consistency at all. I had the alderwood smoked salmon hash, which came with poached eggs, potatoes and hollandaise. This was the saltiest salmon hash I have ever had, not sure if it was the superfluous amount of hollandaise or just the heavily seasoned salmon, but I had to ask for so much water because of all the sodium. If you like salt, this one is for you. Price: Quality isn’t the best, flavor is lacking or just overwhelming — way too pricey! Ambiance: Very busy, well-kept and modern. Coolest part of this place is the super contemporary, futuristic looking bathroom. Seriously, go wash your hands before/after eating, it’s good for your health anyway. Service: The worse service ever. Our server was so fake and inconsistent with us, don’t remember her name but she was an older Indian woman. She was so attentive to the people around us, but kept neglecting us. My boyfriend raised his hand numerous times, we know she saw us, yet she completely ignored us. At times she was friendly and other times she seemed very bothered by us. We did nothing to her. If she hadn’t been so rude and cold, I think I would have given this place another shot. That shot has been lost. Overall: Overrated brunch place with long waits, high prices and terrible service.

Yum! Returned to Plum’s for the first time in 2 years. The food quality is definitely the same, and so is the same great service. Yeah prices are a bit steep but I guess you do get what you pay for. Love the eggs benny. It’s not only aesthetically pleasing but tastes delicious as well! You can really tell they use quality ingredients. The potatoes are seasoned to perfection like always and the eggs are poached perfectly. I really enjoyed the hollandaise sauce and ham which complimented the eggs real well without making the dish too salty. I would definitely recommend this! I’m sure most people who come here get eggs benny anyway. One of my girlfriends that I came with ordered a burger which seemed pretty solid too, and that’s pretty impressive for being a brunch spot. Our server Justin was super helpful and accommodating too! Overall, it’s a pretty expensive brunch spot but I do find the food to be more gourmet and menu to be more unique than most other places. This is definitely one of my go-to brunch spots in the OC.

came here with my girlfriends for lunch on a monday at around 12:30/1:00pm. around this time it was half empty so we easily got a seat inside(there is an outdoor patio areas as well). tables are pretty small to fit four people but it was a cute interior. we were treated to a wonderful staff that was very friendly and helpful. menu wise its slightly overpriced for what you are getting but the food here seems more on the high quality side and visually it does not disappoint. food: santa fe eggs benedict($ 16.75) — tried some of my friends and it was cooked to perfection. very tasty tho i am not really into eggs benedict but i can tell it was made very well. highly recommend if you are into eggs benedict café cheese burger($ 13.75) — i will repeat in all my reviews I’m a burger girl and i of course had to get a burger here because i was craving it. comes with lots of fries which were perfectly cooked and crisp(thick cuts). burger was okay. i think the only downfall i did not like how the onions were cooked. i think they were either over cooked or undercooked because instead of being sweet they gave off a rather unpleasant taste and they also were cute super thick. solid burger. notes: –bathroom is BEAUTIFUL… i went in there to take a new default picture for Facebook HAHA –service is amazing(great servers… shout out to our server Justin… so nice and helpful!!) –service charge($ 4) if you split plates

Given that Plums Café is one of Orange County’s favourite brunching eateries, I suppose the hype had given me the expectations that could not have been met to my ambitious standards. I was slightly underwhelmed when I noticed Plums is located inside a corner plaza mall, and their«patio» is the front courtyard of the restaurant. I found it to be incredibly alarming that the patio furnitures that are used are practical plastic lawn chairs and tables; I expected higher quality details for such an adorned place especially when the menu on board didn’t seem to fit in with their budgeting standards. [ t i p ]: Wait time on weekends are horrendous, so try to come early if possible. What I had: S A L M O N H A S H [ $ 17.50 ] I had my eyes on this dish for quite a while prior to my first visit, and they executed this dish quite substantially. Smoked salmon on a bed of sautéed bell peppers and red onions with two poached eggs on top, it was quite a favourite dish. Menu does change throughout the season which does make this place quite desirable. Like other patrons had mentioned, Plums Café need to work on their service manners as I, too, agree that they can be awfully and dreadfully s l o w.

Great place for a nice brunch date. The food is good, just the right portion size. I am determined to try the Dutch pancake one day. My bf got their Santa Fe Benedict but subbed the ham for bacon and avocado. DELISH! And I order their Oregon Trail dish. The sausage was to DIEFOR! It was sweet and savory, just two small links but I guess… portion control? LOL. I requested for the Pecan pancake but got the Raspberry pancake instead. it was a pleasant mistake because the raspberry pancake was so yummy! The waiter did say it was their most popular. Overall, I would come back again. sit outside on a nice day and enjoy yummy food! +Please keep in mind that parking here is very hard. I think they offer comp. valet.

Came here several weekends ago for brunch with my BF, his friend and his friend’s wife. BF was able to make reservations which I was surprised about because most brunch places don’t take reservations. I ordered the Santa Fe Eggs Benedict which was yummy. It normally comes with ham but they were out of it, but I was able to replace it with bacon which was even better! I tried my BF’s friend’s Biscuit and Gravy, it was delish! It was actally my fave out of everything we ordered. I tried my BF’s Vietnamese Pork & Egg Bowl; the pork was flavorful. Overall, it was a perfect size meal and very light. We decided to share the coconut french toast which I thought was just okay. The crust was a bit hard, but it could have been that we had it sitting on the table for a while — maybe should have ordered it towards the end of our meal. Overall experience was awesome; service was great and so was the food! Yummy yum-yum! TIP: Make reservations

Parking wasn’t a problem. There you go, that’s what I have to say nice about Plums. *Knuckle crack* How utterly disappointing this place was! On every level! Service was incredibly slow. It took us at least five minutes to be greeted by a server when we sat down on the patio. I get that you might be up to your eyeballs in demands from the Orange County mommies club with the screaming kids, but give us a nod at the very least. After ordering our coffee and orange juice, it took another five minutes to get them. *yawn* Getting annoyed. The menu, although seemingly well thought out by a chef, was executed poorly. We ordered the Santa Fe Egg Benedict and the Coconut French Toast, as both dishes seemed to garner positive reviews from other Unilocalers. Each of them came out lukewarm and neither was special in any way. That made the $ 51 bill pretty rough to choke down, all said. I don’t know why anyone would chose Plums when Eat Chow is an option. We won’t be making that mistake again! I don’t like to hand out one-star reviews unless an experience is particularly egregious. Plums was just«meh» from beginning to end. And I had to listen to the boyfriend b*tch about that tab for the next four days.

The ingredients, plating and flavors are all splendid! I’ve been here 6 or 7 times now with friends and family and each time they’ve hit the mark with an excellent menu and novel dishes prepared with attention to details you don’t typically see at a café. I’d recommend this place to anybody as one of the best breakfast spots in Newport but plan on a wait as everybody down there knows this place is great. AMBIANCE and LOCATION(Rating 3.5) There’s nothing about the location that screams fine dining. It’s a café located in the corner of a strip mall with difficult parking. It has a decent outside patio that seems like an afterthought but the interior is done well for a café. That’s about the worst news you’ll get in this review. Remodeling Interior as of 9÷20÷2015. Seems like they are doing it at night though. SERVICE(Rating 4) The service has always been pretty good, especially for a café and how busy they are. They’ve always had just enough servers, but never enough to give you 5 star ratings here. The staff I’ve encountered have always been well versed in their menu having tasted most of the items on their large menu and always happy to assist you. ENTREESBELOWAREINORDEROFMYFAVORITES THICKCUTBACON(Rating 5) I’ve only had bacon one other place that I liked better.(Matt’s in Phoenix AZ). The bacon this morning was perfectly cooked, thick, just enough snap to it, not greasy, perfectly peppered with a small amount of char. The taste is truly YUMMY! BISCUITS&GRAVY(Rating 4.5) The buttermilk biscuits are delightful. Flaky, sweet and perfectly cooked. They were not exactly right out of the oven(which would have put this dish to a 5) The thick country Cregon peppered bacon was great and the poached eggs were perfectly prepared. The courey gravy was wonderful as well and add to it a tomato and cheddar cheese and Whooaaaa! What’s not to like besides the calories? DUTCHBABY(Rating 3.5) While this was very good, the sides were very crisp(I.e. break it off and eat it like a chip with your hands hard). Good luck using a fork and knife. You definitely can’t eat this like a pancake. It looks allot more amazing than it tastes but it’s fun to get at least once. The lemon and powered sugar are the way to go with this, but again the lemon just rolls off the slick hard sides of the pastry. Maybe I didn’t read the instructions? The thick cut bacon is mandatory in my opinion and was WAY better than the dutch baby. I’m basing my rating of 5 on all the other dishes I’ve tried hear. I wasn’t Unilocaling then so I’ll need to return a few times to review the dishes properly here. Can’t wait!

A lovely place for brunch if you’re in the area! Two helpful tips: 1) Make a reservation! I promise it will make life a bit easier since this place is VERY popular and I’ve heard that the wait can span over an hour. Yes… that makes for some hangry patrons. 2) Parking can be a little hectic. There is a parking lot but it fills up rather quickly so unless you spring for valet, street/residential parking is always an option. I met up with a friend for brunch and we had a lovely experience. I highly recommend the coconut french toast! It comes with strawberries, papaya, banana, and orange butter. Drizzle some maple syrup over it and it is one tasty dish with a good amount of coconut flakes embedded in the toast. There’s an option to add bacon but I opted out since it was delicious enough. My friend ordered the Santa Fe eggs Benedict — I stole a few bites and it was quite good with poached eggs over a baguette, potatoes, and chipotle and cilantro hollandaise. Needless to say, we both left VERY satisfied and full!

YUM! One of the best brunch places I’ve been to. I’ve only heard good things about this place, so I decided to finally give it a try. I ordered the Santa Fe Benedict with a side order of bacon. The eggs and chipotle-cilantro hollandaise sauce is soooooo good! Unfortunately, the side of potatoes was plain and not very good. The serving was very filling, so I didn’t finish the potatoes anyway. The bacon was cooked perfectly! It was the right amount of crispy without being burnt. My friend ordered the Northwest Berry Waffle, and the whipping cream was absolutely amazing! It tasted like ice cream, and definitely worth trying. Downside is that this place is pretty expensive, both the food and alcohol. Thanks to Nico for being a great server! Tips: –Call for a reservation to avoid long wait times –Come early to find parking, the lot is small –Get $ 1 off your mimosa if you order it with a brunch platter

Came here for Sunday morning brunch(but more like lunch since it was 12:30PM) and to my surprise, there was no line during Labor Day weekend! Plums serves brunch from 8AM-3PM which is awesome compared to other places that stop serving brunch at 12:30. It’s located in the corner of a plaza on 17th st. We were seated outside but I didn’t mind because the outdoor patio is charming and the weather was fantastic that day. Our server was friendly, attentive and made great recommendations. I’ve been craving eggs benedict for quite some time now, so I ordered the Santa Fe Eggs Benedict with fruit instead of potatoes and my friend ordered the smoked salmon hash. The portions were surprising large(especially if I were to get the potatoes). The eggs benedict was good! It was different on a baguette instead of an english muffin, so there was more crunch to the baguette and it soaked up the hollandaise sauce perfectly. I wasn’t overly stuffed since I got the side of fruit, so I was content after my meal. The smoked salmon was delicious as well, although the salmon was a little too salty for my taste. This café is super adorable! I would suggest sitting outside on a nice day to take in the nice weather. Also, their bathroom is one of the nicest bathrooms I’ve seen, so check it out :)
