Why two stars? One because this place is really fun for kids, the second star is because the staff are actually very friendly and polite. But let me tell you food sucks BAD! Just BAD oh and i think its way to pricey. And they take too long to bring the food out I understand they are very busy but waititing for food more than 45 min its something I dislike very much.

Avoid at all cost. I regret going there. I wish I had reviewed Unilocal instead of being open to try it. Food is low quality and over price. The only reason why I gave it a two star and instead of 1 was because the people working there were great. When I asked questions, they would answer politely. If you want food that they had at a better price, I recommend Norms.

I was at the South Coast Plaza one Sunday afternoon with my girlfriend strolling through and window shopping when we became quite hungry and decided to pick out a place to eat. The inner child in her wanted to check out this place: The Rainforest Café. Now, I will be the first to admit that I am not into gimmicky places, especially restaurants. I believe gimmicks typically hide sub par food, so I went in quite skeptical. Now, I am not saying the food was bad, in fact, the food was actually pretty good(similar in quality/grade to Chilis, Cocos, etc…) but that’s about the only thing remotely positive about our experience. First of all the ambiance inside the restaurant made it impossible to have any sort of noteworthy conversation. The«animal noises» are downright deafening. Then, our waiter did not seem to enjoy his job much, as I wouldn’t either if I worked in such a noisy environment. He was in and out of the restaurant to use his cell phone(in plain sight I may add). Our food took 45 – 50 minutes to come out. And this is in no way an exaggeration. I actually told my girlfriend that if we hit the hour mark, I was just going to leave. And twice in this time our waiter hurried past our table stating«Food’s almost up.» without even stopping so much as a second to apologize. Other tables, who were being served by other waiters, were seated AFTER us and got their food well BEFORE we did. Not that there were many tables with guests, maybe 6 total in the whole place. When our food came out our concerns about the wait time were addressed with«Yeah the kitchen was backed up so it took longer.» Again, no apologies, and absolutely no effort. Do yourself a favor. Never dine here. And for those of you with kids don’t let your kids talk you into it either. All the fake jungle settings and animals in the world won’t stop your kid from complaining that they are hungry when you have to wait an hour for food.

This review is all about the ambiance. I get it … this is not the place for adults to take their date if they’re looking to impress or celebrate an anniversary. It’s a place to take young kids who like animals and will be entertained with their periodic«storm showers» and the fish tanks and rainforest vibe. The food is mediocre but I like that places like this restaurant exist so our toddler can feel more connected with environment.

A solid 3 star recommendation located at South Coast Plaza. If the prices were not so expensive, then I’d give them 4 stars because I do like the jungle atmosphere with all the sounds of the animals in the jungle. For the quality and taste of the food though, I can only give them 3 stars. The one item that I am a fan of though is the Volcano dessert. It is a great item to share. The volcano shape is formed by a delicious chocolate brownie cake, and inside the cake there is vanilla ice cream. On top of the yummy concoction is more vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce dripping along the sides of the volcano. It is delectable!

NOTWORTHIT. Food here is poor and overpriced. The drinks here are also overpriced and overly sweet to mask the fact that they skimp quite a bit on alcohol. This place is definitely geared towards families with kids unless you sit at the bar. Still, wouldn’t recommend it for the price and mediocre service. AVOIDAVOIDAVOID! There are better places to eat at South Coast Plaza!

I went here for a nice lunch with my mom, since she absolutely loved going the day before with her friends. There weren’t that many people there, so the wait wasn’t long, and our food delicious, and was a short wait. The best part was our server, he was really friendly, gave us tips of what he’d recommend, and would check up on us every now and then.

I sat at the bar and ordered myself a drink and a cheese burger. Service was nice, my burger was well, not medium like I asked, but whatever. It was just what I needed to de-stress my crazy event day. The bar tended was very nice and attentive. It’s rainforest café, OK food, but what you are paying for is the ambiance. An awesome place if you’re a kid, or have kids. Also, I was pleased that they actually served the Sparkler on their birthday cakes. The location at Downtown Disney does not do the sparklers, I’m guessing it is a liability.

We ate a late lunch(around 2PM) so the wait time was minimal… around 15 minutes without any reservation. The atmosphere is fun… if a bit loud. We were seated right beside the gorillas which were pretty entertaining. Our server was friendly and very accommodating. The food was good… but overpriced… which is pretty much to be expected when dining in a restaurant with an ‘out of the ordinary’ atmosphere. A good choice for a special ‘vacation’ lunch when taking a break from the shopping.

Came here with a friend and her 3 year old boy. He loved all the action around the restaurant, but after playing with my puppies a little while earlier, he was spent and ended up SLEEPING while we dined. even through those wild Thunderstorms. Juray was our server today and she was very sweet. I’m surprised because this was the first time I wasn’t asked if I have ever been here. Not a big deal, but the fact that we had a child with us, I kind of expected to be asked in case the Thunderstorm would scare him or something. It didn’t, but it’s just something I remember them always doing because they usually let you know the Thunderstorms happen every 15 minutes I think? Annnywho, I ordered the Tropical Tortellini with Alfredo sauce. It was cooked al dente and the cream sauce was actually pretty good too. Not the super thick alfredo sauce that coagulates once air hits it… you know what I mean. I wish there were more sundried tomatoes in the pasta just because it gave it a little more flavor to the dish whenever you got a bite with it. The peas were good too, crunchy and sweet, didn’t taste previously frozen. My friend ordered the Coconut Shrimp which she said was delicious. I’ve tried it before and I will agree that it is usually good. Overall, I love this place for kids. I just think it is overpriced for what it is(average is like $ 15 per plate and don’t get me started on the drinks!). I guess you’re paying for their electricity bill since those mechanical animals are constantly running? Maybe if they put that on the menu I wouldn’t feel so gypped looking at the prices? Hahaha Last Two things: Our water was NEVER refilled. We kept saying we were okay, which we WERE, however, that is something they SHOULD notice on their own. They ran out of kids’ to-go plastic cups with lids. Really? At a KID-Friendly restaurant? I ended up buying a silly cup from their store to take the drink to-go for my friend’s kid. I even asked if there was some sort of discount toward the cup I HAD to buy, but nope! Hey, it doesn’t hurt to try, right?

Took the kids here for the ambiance. Wasn’t totally impressed with the service, had to ask several times for the tabasco sauce. But the kids loved it. The food made me sick, but maybe I ordered the wrong thing or something. Just seems like a touristy trap for unsuspecting parents with money to burn. Eh…

I’ve always been a fan of Rainforest Café. Even thought they weren’t very busy(wait time about 10 minutes), this particular visit was a little a slow for a server to even come greet us. Even though there were several tables available, they put us what seemed like one of the smallest on the floor. It also took a while for someone to take our order and bring drinks. A couple things everyone should know: 1) It’s loud. You can’t tell if it’s a baby crying or an elephant. Don’t try to have a real conversation with anyone at your table. 2) Cell phone reception sucks, as in nonexistent for AT&T. My phone was attempting to connect to a couple free networks, but couldn’t keep a consistent connection. The food was as expected, which is usually on the good to great side. It’s not a place we go to several times a year, but once in a blue moon, it’s worth it.

They’re lucky they have the ambiance — otherwise they would get no business. Or maybe they purposefully downgrade food quality because they spend too much on frequent 5 min. «thunder storms»? America — this is why you have health/obesity issues: salty, unhealthy, overly-sauced food.

We really like this Rainforest Café. This location is never too crowded(especially when compared to the Downtown Disney location), the customer service is usually pretty good, and their store is small but fun! We got out of school early the other day and decided to come here for some lunch. We don’t get to come here very often, but it was so much fun to take a break and grab some food while doing some shopping. We stopped by the Rainforest Café’s store first. The store may be small but has tons of great stuff. We love browsing though their store and seeing all the cute stuffed animals and clothing. They also have a clearance section too! After our brief stop at their store, we were starving and grabbed a table in the restaurant. But on this visit, we waited almost 20 minute to order. Thankfully, a waitress(named Katee) spotted us from the opposite end of the restaurant and took our order. Because we had waited so long, she made sure to put our order in quickly and get our meal right out to us. My Cobb Salad had Romaine and Iceberg lettuce and tons of grilled chicken, chopped egg, tomato, and yummy crumbled blue cheese. It was really good! My son ordered the Mac and Cheese with a side a fries. He said his was delicious too. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. She was attentive throughout our meal. She frequently checked to see if we needed anything. We had a fun visit at this Rainforest Café location. We look forward to going back soon!

My little sister loves coming to the Rainforest Café, so my mom decided to bring us here for lunch while we were at South Coast Plaza. Our wait lasted only a couple minutes before we were seated at our table. The first thing you notice about the restaurant is that it’s very loud. Granted you have a rainforest soundtrack and giant animatronic animals making noises everywhere, but still, it’s a bit off-putting. Anyways, after being seated we were greeted by our waitress. She was very friendly, and also pretty cute(I’d add a half-star just for her if I could). The menu is fairly diverse, but the prices are also important to watch. You can easily get carried away with ordering the cutely-named dishes before you’re hit with a bill that’s nearly a hundred bucks. I ordered the Guacamole burger and it was very tasty. The beef was juicy and the guacamole and bacon flavors were a delicious combo. My only drawback towards the burger is that it gets very heavy towards the end, so make sure you come with a good appetite! For dessert our table ordered the chocolate volcano. Holy heavens this thing was huge… twss. It’s basically four giant pieces of chocolate brownies stacked to form a volcano shape. Inside is three scoops of vanilla ice cream and the whole thing is topped with hot fudge. It’s rich and heavenly, but make sure you have a few people to share this delicious burden with. I wouldn’t make a trip on my own to Rainforest Café, but I think when you’re with your family, or especially with children, the atmosphere can be really enjoyable.

Nothing fancy at all here cuisine wise. I’d only go here if you have kids. Otherwise, you might as well stay away because the prices here are very expensive. You can have a great meal at nearby Antonello’s or Quattro for the same price here. The menu is typical mass super chain menu, so you know what you’re getting. Drinks are extremely expensive as the citrus rum drink I got costed $ 12 — you get to keep the Rainforest Café glass cup though. Either way, it’s still a big rip off… I had the Rainforest burger which was pretty decent. The patty was very thick and juicy. Not bad at all. The rest of the food was average so I won’t even bother to describe it. I’ll let my pictures do the talking. If you have kids, there’s a balloon artist walking around making princess crowns, spiders, dinosaurs, poodles, etc for the kids. It’s all free but I’d be courteous and tip the guy $ 1 per kid.

Great place for kids and people without headaches. Really loud at times when the elephants and gorillas come to life. Our waitress wasn’t very intelligent and keep making mistakes, such as telling my GF that the ranch dressing was Mango Salsa, when in fact it was Ranch Dressing! She came back with the Mango Salsa and walked away without an apology. My party of six only went to the location for the kids and Downtown Disney had a two hour wait. We sat down right away at this location. I ordered the Rainforest Café Specialty dish that had Blackened Tilapia, Coconut Shrimp and a baked Shrimp and Scallop in cheese dish. Overall it was good and came with Rice with Black Bean in it. I don’t think I’ll go back if I have to deal with the insistant server.(half Asian girl with three dimensional grill) Not racist… I’m asian too!!!

The only reason why I(have to) come here is because: 1) I’ve got kids who love coming here 2) my kids have friends who love coming here First of all, this place is really loud. Especially when the stinking animals act up or the thunder storm hits. It’s hard to have a decent conversation. Second, the food isn’t that great and overpriced for that reason. I can’t even recommend one thing from the menu. Third, the place doesn’t seem like it gets a thorough cleaning(IMO) considering it’s covered with so many fake vines, trees, flowers, animals, etc. etc. + kids, kids, and more kids eating there every single day. I’m sure the low lighting covers that easily. With that being said, I gave it an extra star because they do have friendly balloon artists who are pretty good, but I’d rather spend my money at Ruby’s or Red Robin instead.

The service and quality of this place has depleted. 1) the service is lacking, i mentioned my dis-satisfaction with the manager when she came by, and all she said was sorry, without offering and real solution. 2) the food used to look better than it tasted, but still tasted decent, now it tastes even worst than it looks –we got the chimmychanga burrito, which was filled with beans and red/green bellpeppers, not chicken? wtf?! 3) the portions of the food has decreased as well. 4) their dessert menu contains everything chocolate, so if you don’t love chocolate, you’re screwed, and they removed the banana foster crepes: the only thing they had going for them.

I’m torn what to give this place because the décor/ambiance is fantastic but the food is wildly overprice for how I remember it tasting. I got a simple pasta dish and was disappointed. In addition, I was also disenchanted by what my sister and my mom got. I vowed not to come back until I have kids(an impossibility which you can figure out) or have nieces and nephews that would appreciate the décor.
