Ordered off of grubhub on a Tuesday afternoon for delivery. The sushi was good and the dumplings were really tasteful and delicious. Delivery was quick which was a plus. The only downfall was the spicy mayo, but other than that I enjoyed the service and food.

Great people, ownership and proximity! Delivery is even better since the food, speed of service and kind delivery people make the experience and all-around enjoyable one.

We went on a Sunday night around 7:30. The place was empty but we ventured in due to the good Unilocal reviews. We were not disappointed. We ordered 3 bento boxes(2 regular &1 deluxe) and a 3 roll combo(yellowtail scallion, spicy salmon & eel avocado). The regular bento came with a large portion of rice & terriyaki beef or tonkatsu and either steamed veggies or salad. In addition to the terriyaki and veggie, the deluxe bento also included 2 steamed dumplings(or miso soup if you prefer) and 4 pieces of California roll. The 3 roll combo came with soup or salad. The portions were huge. My deluxe and my son’s regular beef terriyaki bento had a good amount of rice and beef. My other son’s tonkatsu had a good amount of fried pork cutlet over rice. We were very happy with the quality and quantity of the food. The only nit is the steamed veggies had no taste. It would have been much better if they had stir-fried the veggies rather than steamed them. Hubby’s 3 roll combo was fresh and he really liked them. I thought the eel avocado roll had too much avocado and not have enough eel but it was still tasty. Service was no-frills but pleasant. You pay upfront like a fast food place; the server will bring the food; you get rid of your own garbage; so no tip is expected. The ambiance is more pleasant than a McD’s. Regular bentos are about $ 8& deluxe versions are about $ 12. Given the large portions, you can probably get away with mixing some regular and some deluxe bentos to save a few bucks and just share the dumplings & avocado rolls.

Great cheap bento boxes. Ordered for pick up last night and got a chicken teriyaki bento box with brown rice. Huge portions for low prices. The chicken was a little questionable and rubbery but still tasted good and i was starving. The dumplings were bland but not bad. California roll was my fav part, it was one of the better ones I’ve had. Great spot for fast big dinner with good enough food at a low price: p

A great stop if you’re looking for tasty Asian cuisine! The times I have been here the staff has been very pleasant and welcoming. The whole place is impressively clean, which is so important to me — especially when preparing items containing raw meats like sushi!

I change my mind. I give this place totally 5stars for sure. I tried few more different dishes here now and they are so good! Chieken and vege stir fry with udon was great. There was so many choices so I didn’t know what noodle type I had to choose. When I ask what to choose in this type situation, I never get clear answer and it bothers me. But here, the cook told me udon will be the best and it really was! Not to mention friendly people who serve you makes everything so much better too.

Tried the chicken teriyaki bento box and was not impressed. First, delivery took a long time even though I don’t live far from the location. Udon noodles were greasy and the chicken was a little chewy and flavorless. Vegetables seemed alright — didn’t feel like trying them after the food. I will say that the box was packed, and the portions were generous. Maybe they were having an off night, but I won’t be ordering again.

This is a great eatery, when you feel like Chinese have this instead it’s has wonderful favors less greasy. I really like the udon thicker noodle and the Ramen with chicken. Lots of flavor and less oily than lo main. The quality and the place is so clean.

Got delivery here for the first time and was very impressed. I ordered online the salmon teriyaki bento box with vegetable spring rolls on the side. They told me delivery would be 40 minutes, but they arrived in 20. I couldn’t believe how big the portions were, including the size of the spring rolls. Nothing tasted oily the way some«express» asian fusion food does. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the food doesn’t sit there for long before it’s used. I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Everything is good in the menu except the chili wings but, you might have a different taste than I do and actually like it.

Tried this place for the first time tonight! Amazing! Large portions, quality ingredients, good flavors! Not something you would expect for the average asian fusion style restaurant. Fast food service served with fine dining quality. I purchased the Chicken Teriyaki Bento box. Came with bountiful amounts of chicken and rice, included with goyza(dumplings) as well as a 4 piece california roll for the price of 8.95. You really cant argue with that price, especially when chinese takeout is normally greasy and fattening. They also DELIVER! YumYumYum!

Pretty decent but nothing too spectacular. Teriyaki meal was $ 10 with soup, cali roll, chicken, rice & veggies. Soup was a typical miso… A bit salty. Veggies were bland, just steamed and too big to just mix in w rice. The green tea was super hot and tasted like the plastic coated paper cup it was served in. I’ll prolly try the ramen if I go back.

Sometimes I’m not in the mood for a full restaurant meal and I don’t want fast food. This place is a great in between. I’m giving five stars based on the price. For $ 6 you can get a loaded rice/noodle bowl with meat and veggies(semi-healthy!) add a couple bucks and get shrimp dumplings and California roll. Yum! Been here about 5 times now and the food has been very consistent! Keep it up! It does take about 10 minutes for them to make your order so either prepare or just call and order for take out in advance.

Who knew ramen could be so great? Bento Express opened recently and my initial thoughts were«why do we need another asian take-out restaurant in Cranford?» What I’ve since learned is that Bento Express is not your typical asian-takeout. Much better, in fact. BE has a very simple menu, which I like. It allows you and them to focus on a great meal. The«stir-fry» noodle dishes are cooked perfectly with fresh veggies. They don’t soak the dish with too much sauce, yet it is packed with flavor… a winning combination. Bento Express is a fantastic value for your money, too. Generous portions and fast-casual prices. I highly recommend.

Stopped by for the first time today to pick up some lunch. They have some great lunch specials, priced much better than what I’m used to from working in the city. I went with the Vegetable Teriyaki with Brown Rice. I loved that their containers keep the vegetables and sauce separate from the rice so it wasn’t soggy by the time I got back to work. The tofu was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were fresh. The restaurant is laid out so you can see them making your food which is awesome. They cook it up on a hibachi and don’t overdo it on the sauce. The portion was a good size yet somehow I managed to eat it all. Oh well… I have no regrets! They do stress that their food is healthier than traditional Asian cuisine as they don’t use as much oil and for things like scallion pancakes they grill them instead of frying. I’ll definitely be back.
