I liked the mane. My haircut is nice. The hair wash was a bit rough and not relaxing. Staff was very friendly.

Cristina is the best! She listens to what you want but you could also trust her to do what will look good on you. My sister and my best friend go to her too now just because they liked my haircuts!

I moved to New Jersey about a year ago and desperately starting searching for a good hair dresser. I was so happy when I found The Mane event! I absolutely love the salon and the excellent service! I have been going to Karen since last year and have not been disappointed. She is excellent at working with my thick-​hard-​to-​manage hair. I would recommend her and this salon to anyone.

I’ve searched and gone to many different hair salons for the last six years and all of them have disappointed me. karen’s attentive, professional, and excellent at her job. because of her, my hair’s been healthier, grows faster, and happier. all of the girls and penny the owner are friendly and helpful. for a haircut, hair dye, and keratin smoothing treatment, which is what karen gives me because my hair’s dry, brittle, and has alot of premature gray hair, the price’s fair. I was looking for a local salon, luckily I stumbled into this little gem. Best of all they are affordable! Cristina is a Godsend. She is a talented hair designer who offers suggestions on color and cut. Cristina has a way of knowing me better than I know myself when it comes to hair design. I sneak in for a blowout, and walk out feeling Glam. When I’m in the mood to spoil myself I have her do my make up as well. There is no end to her talent. *** She now also does my mom and friend’s hair too.

I came to this place a couple of months ago and I wanted to get my hair toned down/​dyed to a nice cool light/​medium brown color from my pretty long light cool blonde color. The stylist turned the entire top of my hair orange, then realized how upset I was, so redyed it into a darker, less oompa loompa orange, which ended costing me $ 250.00. Yes. That much.
The reason why I am writing this review so late is because I tried to like the color. I really did. But it just looked so bad to the point that I tried to box dye my hair with a cooler hair color, which helped for a month then my hair went back to orange. So I went to another salon, paid in total of around $ 600 up until this day to get all of the damage cut off (about 14 inches of hair that was almost undamaged to begin with), had it toned down and dyed lightly to try to get the orange to fade, had some nice balayage done as well which I am happiest about since my hair got destroyed. But I still have orange hair, so my options have run out, and I’m patiently waiting for my hair to just grow out again.
Really upset at this salon.

Mane Event is my go-​to spot for almost two years now. I had been going to different shops in Union where I grew up for some time but was tired of barbers not making or keeping appointments and waiting on lines.

I hadn’t colored my hair in almost 9 years, so I was a little apprehensive about coloring it, but I really needed a change. I went to Mane Event and Karen was my stylist. She completely understood what I was looking for and suggested peek-​a-​boo highlights because they would be under the top layer of my hair so I would still feel like me, but the fun highlights would poke through. I absolutely LOVE my hair and have gotten so many compliments on it! The color is perfect, not brassy or orange or bleach blonde, but a perfect caramel like color that suits me and my already dark brown hair well. Long layers and a perfect blow out and I was on my way feeling fabulous! Mane Event is the kind of salon that you go to and you feel like you are hanging out with your girlfriends. It isn’t pretentious at all and it isn’t overpriced. Karen is such a sweetheart and she is truly talented! I highly recommend you book your appointment with Karen ASAP! :)

I recently moved to Cranford and was looking for a reasonably priced salon as I really just needed a trim and couldn’t see paying the upwards of $ 50 prices listed at some local salons. After some internet searching I decided to check out the Mane Event. The location is convenient, near a lot of shopping and other services, and I had no trouble finding parking. Plus, for the quality of the salon you absolutely cannot beat the costs of services.
The atmosphere is pretty standard salon stuff, but very clean and well lit. I stopped in as a walk-​in but only had to wait a few minutes before I was seen by a stylist, Karen. Karen was fabulous! She really paid attention to my hair and how I typically style it, and did a wonderful job cutting it. I’m not typically the type to stick with a specific stylist or even salon, but I definitely plan on going back to see Karen at the Mane Event.

I was really hesitant about finding a hair stylist since I moved back into town. My father recommended that I try this place because YEARS ago he went and loved it. I waited two years to break down and get a haircut. I was not only impressed with the prices but the owner (Penny) and my stylist (Deena) treated like they knew me for years. The place was clean and easy to get in and out. I found my spot now and I will recommend it to anyone who is in this area. For a town that has a gazillion hair spots on every corner this place stands out! Fantastic!

I’ve gotten my hair cut here a few times and haven’t had a bad experience. The stylists are friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I usually just walk in work and haven’t had to wait for more than a few minutes, always a plus.
