We’ve had breakfast at the Apple Peddler every morning and it was fresh, good, fast and appropriately priced. The Diner setting is fun and the music great! It looks like it would be a good place for home made pies as well.

Just like others said, we walked in and stood awkwardly while staff walked past us. Very odd! They were out of one of the four beers on their menu. Out of calamari and the Clam Chowder was so fishy it couldn’t have been good, we left it. Chicken strips are safe, that’s about it. NOT coming back.

Giving them 4 stars because the staff was great and the family enjoyed the stop. I had the blackberry cobbler straight from the oven and it was tart and rich. My hubby had chili and cherry rhubarb pie and enjoyed it. Nice stop.

I regret eating here, I wish we would have stopped somewhere else! We stopped here on our road trip back to Portland. My mom and I had to wait at the front awkwardly because the hostess there wouldn’t look up at us or greet us. We said hi to her, to get her attention, and she waved us over to another girl to seat us. This hostess took us to our table and after a really long time, we had to flag someone else down to finally get service. It’s hard to tell who your waiter/waitress is at this place. They forgot what drinks we had ordered and then later brought our lunch order to the wrong table so we had to get her attention to bring it to us. Our lunch,(sliders, fish and chips) was really low quality and overpriced. The bread for my sliders didn’t taste good and the cheese was half melted and it was that fake processed cheese. You can definitely find better diner food. Denny’s is better! We also tried the pie and asked for it to be warmed up. It came out cold as if it hadn’t been warned at all. I was so hungry so I ate most of my meal and I definitely shouldn’t have. I got a really bad stomach ache that night and felt so sick! I don’t have a sensitive stomach and can eat almost anything so I for sure know it was their bad quality food that gave me issues that night/the next morning. I don’t recommend this restaurant! While driving by it looks like a nice place to eat but KEEPDRIVING. Do not eat here!

My first time here and also my last!!! Worst restaurant ever! Some people even cut me and my daughter in line especially when they saw us in line first! RUDE! I’ve waited 10mins to be seated to find out that there was so much more open space! Then as me and my daughter sat down with the menu, no one, I meant NOTONE waitress gave us water! We were literally starving for an hr until the waiter finally came to ask what we wanted. Even after that, they still didn’t serve us water! We then ended up waiting for another 30mins. People that came after us already finished and left but me and my daughter was still waiting on our food. As this was all happening, I thought to myself, I could’ve gone to bk and be home by now. THEYNEEDMORECHEF&WAITERS!!! Having 3 waiters &2 chefs, can’t do nothing!

One of the worst places to go for good food in this town. They have good breakfast. Don’t go their for dinner or lunch.

Worst experience. They were short on staff– the point is you gotta tell it to the customers. Walked in at 10:30 am and the food didn’t come out until 11 and when it did — that wasn’t our order. We walked out. Never again

The positives: Friendly wait staff and good service. Large portions. The cons: Tasteless food, even if there is a lot of it. Really overpriced for what it is. I was so psyched to learn they had deep fried mushrooms. When they came, I couldn’t believe how huge the portion was for the money. But, they were awful. Like deep-fried cardboard. I went for breakfast another time and was excited they had corned beef hash. Sounded great. The plate came and everything was weirdly symmetrical on the plate. You’d have to see it to understand how weird the presentation was. And again, it was edible, and was a lot of food, but for the price, it was really disappointing. It’s weird how their food is so tasteless. It’s just really disappointing for the money. Drive a few blocks farther north to Denny’s, and get tastier food for less.

Excellent food! Wonderful staff, greeted us as we walked in. A large selection of food. Went for breakfast, good size portions. Off main road in Cresent City. Definitely eat here… one word, disregard the décor and music… stuck in retro 70/80’s. Great experience, clean, prices are okay.

Came here for dinner on our first night in Crescent city and Wow! The food was absolutely disgusting! We ordered a tuna melt which tasted awful and came with stale fries, we had a chicken fried steak with mash and veg(this made me so sick, I was throwing up all night), it came with a salad which had a hair in it. We also had a Belgian waffle with strawberries only they’re frozen not fresh, the best thing we ordered. We also had an order of fish and chips. The fish were ok but again fries were stale. The service was friendly but not there as far as keeping us refilled on drinks or even noticing a plethra of untouched food. We weren’t offered a new salad or comped in anyway for having hair in our food. This place may only be good for breakfast but I’d beware.

Not sure why ratings are low for this place. They serve a very traditional mix of breakfast dishes. Our waitress Dawn was a great cheerful California gal with a willingness to make sure our morning was great! I had the steak and eggs, it was perfectly tender. As a southerner. I am sick of shit east coast gravy with garlic in it! THISGRAVY was a perfect southern pork and black pepper gravy. It was absolutely perfect!!! The hash browns were crispy on outside and soft in the middle, the biscuits were tasty too but I recommend a bit of oil in the pan when backing to give the biscuit bottoms a crisper taste. The tops should be broiled and very lightly brushed with butter after baking. Otherwise everything was perfect.

I can think of two reasons you might decide to eat at this place: 1) You’re like 600 years old; 2) You’re staying in the hotel next door. I was the latter. The restaurant itself is, well, ugly. The color scheme is unappetizing, the décor is outdated, and the overall feel of the place is just… boring. Even the name is boring. And they play the Beach Boys over their sound system. I hate the Beach Boys so much. So… much… But here’s the thing — the food is really good, and the service is excellent. One of the servers kept calling me «Hon,» and I’d be disappointed with anything less. I only wish they had awful polyester uniforms to go with the rest of the motif here. This was easily the best meal I had on this trip, and I’ll be back before I head home. If you’re heading up/down the coast, give this place a try. I guess I had a very different experience than a lot of others customers. Maybe it’s because I had a late lunch when it wasn’t busy, so I got more attention. Breakfast tomorrow morning might change my mind.

Service is terrible. The friendliness of the staff is that of an inmate to a correction officer. The food was sad and bland. Messed up our order more than once and didn’t even apologize. We were supposed to get grilled snapper with the surf and turf. Instead we got fried and the breeding is soggy. If you want to go to a place that acts insulted by you just being there then this is the place to go.

This was one of my worst restaurant experiences ever. We were staying in Orick, California which has a limited amount of restaurants(two to be exact). We decided to eat near the end of our Redwood trails. You get ONE free refill on drinks. But watch your cup like a hawk because the waitress will take your cup when its half full and count that as your refill… annoying. I ordered shrimp with rice and fries. The shrimp tasted like dirty water. The rice clearly came from one of those microwaveable bags, but it was a few days old. The vegetables were soggy and tasteless. I bit into one of the fries and it crunched as if there was bone in there! Disgusting. The service was decent. The wait staff is not to blame for the atrocious food. We paid a lot of money for shitty food. I will definitely not visit this restaurant again.

We ate here for breakfast and had a decent meal. On the way out, we noticed that they had whole pies for sale, so we came back in the afternoon to pick one up for after dinner. We tried cutting the peanut butter chocolate pie and were having some difficulty. After investigating, we realized that the whipped cream was sitting on top of some foil and there was no chocolate or peanut butter. After lifting up the foil, we found another older layer of pie crust with some mold. Gross! We were definitely not in the mood for dessert any more and won’t be returning. What a waste of $ 12! UPDATE We went back to return the pie and the manager was very professional and refunded our money. I appreciate how they handled the situation. Turns out they sold us a fake display pie in error. My brother liked the breakfast enough that I am changing my rating from one star to two stars, but check your pies for their realness first! By the way, the real strawberry rhubarb pie that we got was delicious.

This is a great place for breakfast, and since that is the only meal I’ve had here, consider my review based on that. My traveling companion had been here several times before, so she decided this is where we would eat breakfast our second/last day in Crescent City. We were greeted by friendly servers dressed in the type of waitress outfits you’d see in the ‘50s. Our middle-aged server had a cute ponytail with a flower in her hair a la 1963 and a cheery smile, which made me long for simpler times. I immediately noticed the décor with mirrors and hot pink wall decorations ranging from an ocean/lighthouse scene to a bevy of toucans, lined up all in a row. The tables and seats were dated, color and design suggested 1990 was probably the last remodel, but the dining room was exceptionally clean. The tables were bright white and the upholstery unmarred. Even the hot pink silk flowers flanking the booths were dust free, which by my experience is a major rarity. Clean is good! There were several tempting breakfast basics to choose from. I decided on a bacon & cheddar omelet, but I had them add diced bell peppers to it. The hashbrowns that came on the side(shredded style) were that perfect amount of light brown and crispy on the outside, but tender and fully cooked on the inside. I managed to devour every last bite of my meal and it was perfect for getting me through my afternoon playing in the Redwoods. My friend enjoyed her strawberry pancakes with a side of bacon, which looked like a tasty treat. I can’t vouch for the flavor myself, because she didn’t offer to share — haha! The prices were reasonable, food super tasty, but basic, the dining room was clean, and the service friendly. I’d definitely make this a regular breakfast spot if I spend more time in the area!
