I frequented sweet basil w my father, a foodie, then stopped for awhile. He liked the pad Thai and it was good at one time. After a hiatus i returned and ordered the pad Thai for lunch and after one or two bites I had to return it. When I told the server that it was awful she thought I was kidding. I was not asked why I didn’t like it, if. I wanted something else, etc. FYI it had an odd taste –too much vinegar?-but worse it was like a coagulated clump of gummy noodles. My companion ate his and thought ok but then he’s not one bit a foodie. I let it go and was charged and I paid. But I won’t go back.

This is a great neighborhood place! My family comes here at least once a week. The food is delicious(including the sushi) and the staff friendly. We never leave feeling like our expectations weren’t met. Love Sweet Basil!

I love love love Sweet Basil. We have been patrons before and after the move. We love the new place. I always get a roll and the chicken pad Thai to split with my husband. My teens loved the fried rice and the phở. Generous portions, good service and reasonable prices. It’s fresh and tasty. Highly recommend.

Whole family loved it, which is rare. Yellow curry is a winner(had it twice), hot Thai basil is wonderful, and restaurant kindly accommodated my son’s order for fried rice, no veggies.(He loved it too) Service was perfect, bathrooms very clean. Solid five stars for this category of restaurant. PS — has a solid gluten free menu, which is a huge plus.

It’s good food but I found multiple hairs in my rice and could not finish eating it… It kinda turned me off from Thai food for a while

I had Vegetable Pad Thai for lunch. I snorted it down! The flavor was very good and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. One note for you seeking spicy food, I had it spiced to 10 and it barely registered on my tongue. I would definitely eat hear again.

The food was pretty good but the pad thai did not stand out as overly amazing. The service was great and the atmosphere was excellent. Prices were reasonable as well bit we will not be back.

Vegan and vegetarians beware: ALL entrees use fish sauce(as conveyed to us by our server). You can request them to make an entrée using just plain and bland soy sauce though(also a suggestion by our server). However, if you stick to some appetizers, dessert(one vegan option), and sushi(just the basic stuff), you’re good when it comes to vegetarian and vegan options. Service is good, but it was shocking to hear that they used fish sauce in all their entrees, basically leaving vegans and vegetarians with no entrée choice. Even the fried rice can’t be made vegan(as mentioned by our server). The vegan sticky rice with mango dessert is really good though. Nice décor as well along with free parking in the lot.

We have been eating here for years and its always been a fantastic experience! The new digs over off of Buttermilk(across the street from where they used to be) are really nice! Very swanky décor in there now with a lot of space, which is nice because it was apparent for a while that their customer base had outgrown their space in the previous place. We have never had bad food or a bad service in this establishment. Their food is excellent! Some of the best sushi in NKY for sure!

Manager offered a free sushi roll to compensate for the lack of chopsticks in my carry out order. I still haven’t gone back to get it, but I probably will eventually. He seemed genuinely apologetic.

Oh Sweet basil! If you’re a fan of Asian food, looking for a new spot to try or want a quick lunch/dinner option check out sweet basil! Fresh, high quality and a great value. We tried the ginger chicken, beef/broccoli with curry, tom yum chicken and mushroom soup and the fried gyoza. All were prepared perfectly and the spice level of 7⁄10 on the entrées absolutely hit the spot! Highly recommend if you are in the area or if you are looking for an alternative to downtown/NKY lunch options.

They do a nice job taking care of you, but the nori was very dry, and the tuna was not firm. Only one sake in hot or cold. Order one of the more exotic rolls, they show they deficiencies with the basics. Better than grocery store sushi, but lacking in something. Had four rolls and none were very powerful. There’s a better place down the street.

The Good: the food, décor, customer service, speed. The Bad: nothing really. The Rundown: I have seen this place pop up a few times when I have been in Newport, I have to say that I am disappointed I haven’t stopped by until now. Their food is delicious. Their service is incredibly fast and the customer service is courteous and fast. I like how they let you choose your heat level as well. The Impression: the food is wonderful, the service is great, this is a place I may come to each time I’m leaving Cincinnati.

Somethings changed since the move. Suddenly I’m getting all peppers and onions and no basil or beef. To bad used to be great food but after 3 tries, you’re out

Solid Thai restaurant in NKY. We we immediately greeted, seated and given waters. Which was sweet because both of us were STARVING. The restaurant was spacious and actually pretty full for a Monday night at 9. You could tell this is a local favorite. I tried the papaya salad at a spice level 6(their scale is 1 – 10) and it was decently spicy! The papaya was firm and it came with tomato and some green beans. I thought it was a little heavy on the sauce, actually a lot, like a pool of residual sauce on the plate which was overwhelming especially near the last couple bites but other than that, very flavorful, and I loved the crushed peanuts to add texture. Highly recommended was the Classic Thai spicy so I tried that with shrimp and loved it! A good portion of decent sized shrimp, and vegetables in a red curry sauce. I recommend this as I did not have leftovers and it really was a serving meant for two… whoops. My had the pad Thai chicken which I was also good, classic pad Thai. I liked this place and will probably be back because 1. Service was excellent, they weren’t overly in our faces but they did keep our drinks full. 2. Food came out within 15 – 20 mins. 3. They care about presentation with their meals – talking carrot shaped roses and orange slice décor on our entrees. 4. They offer something for everybody! Sushi, noodle dishes, rice, soups and I even saw popcorn chicken as an appetizer! Crowd pleaser for sure.

This is the real deal! It’s hard for me to find good Thai food. I’m really picky and some places serve crappy pad thai. I was out with some friends and was talking about having sushi at Miyako, but he mentioned this place. Not sure when they moved here but they expanded to this bigger location. It’s your typical Asian restaurant. Simple décor and spacious. It’s cleaner than most(even bathroom was clean) and not dusty/muggy inside. The server seated us right away and gave us waters. We started off with the Philadelphia Salmon Roll as an appetizer. That came out right away and the rice and salmon was fresh. Very good. We decided to order a bunch of meals and share since we were craving both sushi and noodles. Here is what we got: –Tofu Pad See Ew –Chicken Pad Thai –American Idol Roll(Nigiri-Tuna & Salmon, California Roll) –Tofu Side Salad with Peanut Sauce on the Side(for me) –Fried Shrimp Tempura Roll. –Side Ginger salad(my friend ordered that before she got her meal) We got our salads before our meals came out. Some places bring it out at the same time(with your dinner) and I hate that they do not ask. Meals was at our tables within 15 mintues. That was super quick. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the Tofu Pad see Ew. The noodles was not hard and they put enough tofu and vegetables. Chicken Pad Thai(we ordered the spice on the side because one of my friends likes it mild) was so good! Chicken was not tough, noodles not mushy or hard, and a fair amount of cashews. And of course the sushi was excellent! Both noodle meals were hot. Server always checked up on us and was refilling our water right away. We ended up with a to go box because they gave a fair amount of food. Pricing was also reasonable for lunch. Look for lunch and dinner specials on billboard before you walk in or ask. Love this place and what a great experience! Too bad they don’t have a location in Cincinnati, I would go there every week if they did!

Been here quite a few times and each time I have been here the service is always nice, food is always fresh and hot, and it is always clean. My mom and I decided to stop by after the zoo because she has been craving one of their dishes here. It’s nice, quaint, and simple. Besides water I always ordered jasmine tea(which you can never go wrong with). My mom ordered the summer roll for an appetizer and I ordered the seaweed salad. The salad smaller then expected, but was very good. For the main entrée I ordered the pork salad. The pork was steamed with crunchy lettuce underneath. I ordered a 6 spice level and was plenty. I don’t like eating super spicy food where you can’t even enjoy the flavor. It was perfect, a little kick along with a strong cilantro and mint flavor. All and all this restaurant is always on point and consistent.
