I love Popeyes chicken, especially the spicy chicken. We stopped in here a on a Monday afternoon and got eight pieces of chicken. The lady that took our order was very kind to us. She actually found a coupon we could use and split the order between mild and spicy. I don’t know about all the other reviews, I’ve been going here for several years now and I’ve always had a satisfactory experience. The dining area is not always the cleanest, but I think that’s because this place is so busy. When I was in Louisiana, which is where they are based, I learned that not all of the Popeye’s franchises use their proprietary seasoning. That is probably why the quality differs from location to location. I am quite sure that this place uses the real thing. I’m convinced, Kentucky fried chicken is nothing like it used to be. I think Popeyes has the best chicken in our area. Sure you can get chicken at other places, but for a fast food chicken outlet this place is just about the best. Personally, I prefer Popeyes over any other chicken. I only wish they would build one closer to us.

Always a troublesome experience here. Their drive-thru line is very complicated to get in and out of. The staff is always rude. They nickel and dime you for everything you want here. We picked up food Sunday night and were told we ordered the wrong food when we know we didn’t, then the employees acted like we were idiots because we didn’t have the menu numbers memorized. The food is good, but we rarely go because the experience is always brutally annoying.

They always seem to forget or get part of my order wrong. Missing Biscuits one time. another time no hot sauce. another time the got sauces chosen all wrong. Chicken is good but attention to detail not so good.

Girls here are very friendly. Chicken has always been fresh and hot. They do forget things from time to time so check your orders.

Picked up dinner on a Sunday afternoon. While waiting, mom was checking out the receipt. «Look at this!» Uh-oh. Problem. Receipt said large mac n cheese when we had ordered a large green bean. I go up to the register to chat with the dude about it. «So you don’t want the mac n cheese?» «Uh, no. We ordered green beans. We want green beans.» I double and triple checked the order when we got it. Yup. We got green beans! Whew! Sister is setting up the meal and trying to dig out a piece of chicken to give her 18 month old twins. The 12 piece half spicy/half mild order is all in the same box. Ugh. Fortunately none of the children accidentally got spicy. It was still not an easy box to manœuvre through.

Potentially the best chicken chain. But, my most recent experience there resulted in really tiny pieces of chicken. I mean, these pieces of chicken were so small, if the birds used were any younger, you’d be eating eggs. Beware of ghetto Tuesdays. That’s the day when they have a special for $ 2.99. Holy smokes, you’da thunked the local prison handed out day passes. But, the restaurant is so busy on Tuesday that the product never gets old, and is relatively fresher than any other day in general. Beware of old chicken. Beware of the drive-through, which can extend onto the very busy Larkin Avenue esp. on ghetto Tuesday. Biscuits are the best. Red Beans & Rice are good. Fries, if fresh, are good.

Probably the worst fried chicken I have ever tasted. It was extremely overcooked, dry and stringy. Service was terrible. Asked for ketchup and the girl just threw it on the tray and shook her head. The garbage can was overflowing, and the place was dirty. I would never eat here again.

I have to be honest and confess that I love chicken, especially when it’s spicy and fried. I have grown up eating Popeyes. I remember my dad bringing home two greasy cartons. One full of spicy chicken, the other full of biscuits. Those were the days. This Popeyes is usually busy which is a good thing. The food is always hot and on Tuesdays you can get a two piece dinner with a side for only $ 2.99 — be prepared to wait. The only problem here is the lack of customer service, but hey it’s Popeyes.

THEWORSTPOPEYE’S INAMERICA! Okay, maybe only Illinois, but still… Due to my job I’m forced to drive-thru a lot of places for lunch and occasionally I get a taste for the ONLY kind of fried chicken I can eat. My order is always the same: three spicy tenders with BBQ sauce, a side of cajun rice and a Diet Pepsi. BUT you have to order it as the #6 and that is where the problems start. «Spicy or mild» the voice asks… «Spicy» I reply. «Your side?» says the voice. «Cajun rice» I answer. «Fries?» queries the voice. «No, rice.» «OK» I hear the voice say«that’s three spicy tenders with fries, correct?.» «NO, that’s three spicy tenders with RICE. R-I-C-E. Cajun Rice!» Now, the last time this little dramedy played out six months ago, I got all the way to the front window and paid, only to discover there were fries in my bag. I gave the entire order back, demanded a refund and was told«You don’t have to have a heart attack, lady!» Recalling that incident and my vow never to return, today I cancelled the order right there at the speaker after being admonished by the voice«I have to get this order right — you don’t have to give me no attitude.» Actually, attitude isn’t all I was giving her at that point. And the next time I get a yen for Popeye’s, I’ll do it for dinner on the way home because the place on Route 53 in Bolingbrook never has any problems with my order!

The chicken is good, but EVERY time I order a side of mashed the gravy portion of the order gets smaller and smaller. Then to top it off if you ask for extra to make up for the skimpy gravy portion you get charged an extra 30 cent for(I swear one ounce) of gravy. a small serving can cost you 1.99! They have to be kidding me… for something that is supposed to be on the potatoes to begin with? I don’t mind paying for MY extra’s but I wouldn’t have to ask for«extra» if they would just do it right to begin with!!! I think it is just this franchise owner’s way to make extra $$$ !! This popeye’s will nickel and dime you all the way to a $ 12.00LUNCH. Will not be dining at this popeye’s anymore because I am tired of being ripped off!

Good food here, but they can be very forgetful in the drive thru! Check your orders! They won’t give you bbq sauce unless you pay for it! I had spent 30 bucks and they did not wanna give me a packet of bbq sauce?
