Husband and I stayed here over a weekend in June. The Boiler Room Tavern was a lot of fun. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely plan on going back. The actual locals of Cripple Creek and Victor were really nice and welcoming. Our room was nice and cozy with a beautiful view of the mountains and town. I found this hotel to be a lot of fun, will definitely recommend it. The weekend we stayed there, the cable was out, which in a way was nice because it forced us to go to the Boiler Room Tavern and converse with other travelers and locals.

very very cozy, it was exciting to stay in an old fashion hotel, the people next to us came out of their room and yelled at us for walking to loud, we responded with«stay somewhere else remember your at an old place» what a douche. had a wonderful stay. we would definitely come back

This place looks creepy on the outside, but it is very nice inside, with all the charms of possible ghosts, since it was built as a hospital in the 1800s. Rooms are sparkling clean and cute, but be aware there is no air conditioning. Free breakfast includes fruit, cereal, yogurt, breads, and when we were there, some really good honey walnut cream cheese. Nice place to stay in this neat old mining town.

Haunted by the ghosts of assholes! I didn’t even stay here and chances are very likely that I will NEVER stay here. I had a reservation for a Saturday and canceled on a Wednesday and was still charged a late cancellation fee because I didn’t cancel within 3 days. Hmm… let’s do some math here: Wednesday: 1 day, Thursday: 1 day, Friday: 1 day, Saturday: 1 day. Add them all up and you get 4FUCKINGDAYS. The person I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude. Shocking… You can shove that cancellation fee up your Cripple Creek.

Have worked over the Christmas holiday season on and off in Cripple Creek for a number of years, and whilst I have never stayed at The St. Nic, I have been there a number of times to go to the Boiler Room, the hotel’s bar. It is a very quaint hotel, and the staff are lovely. I was sorry when the décor in the Boiler Room was changed, but it is still a cool place. The only word of warning I’ll give is if you don’t have a car, it is a very steep hill to try and climb when you are two miles above sea level!

This is the neatest place I’ve ever stayed. Don’t choose this hotel if you want a modern, cookie-cutter room like you might find at the Holiday Inn, but stay at the Hotel St. Nicholas if you want comfort, charm, and a super friendly staff in a unique setting. Each room in this converted hospital is decorated in the Victorian style, but each has the modern convenience of a very comfortable bed and a private bathroom. We stayed in room #1, which contained a king bed, breakfast room, sitting area, and a huge, claw-foot bathtub. If you want some adventure, ask for room #11, which was the original operating room. Bartender Don told ghost stories about the rumored paranormal activity reported in that room. The breakfast was fresh and featured little extras like flavored cream cheese. The staff was amazing. Doors to the vacant rooms are left open, so guests are encouraged to explore and enjoy the entire place. If you can tear yourself away from the comfort of your room, the casinos are just a short two-block walk away. If you spend too much time enjoying the free drinks, a shuttle will bring you to the door of the St. Nicholas. We can’t wait to visit Cripple Creek again, and we will definitely book a room at the Hotel St. Nicholas.

I had a good feeling about this place the second I came across it on the internet. The décor is cozy and charming and the staff is super friendly. There’s definitely an eerie vibe to the building, from the way its perched behind trees up above the downtown area to the dark hallways that for some reason are super easy to get lost in. There’s a swanky parlour with a billiards table but we didn’t spend much time there. «Odd» Don was bartending in the spooky basement bar and that was entertaining enough. Clean, comfortable and affordable. Can’t wait to go back.

This place is really, really cool. I was initially thinking I wanted to give it 4.5 stars, but there is no reason it’s not a 5. First of all it is oozing with personality. Apparently it is a converted hospital and is rumored to be haunted. Although we did not see any ghosts, it was still fun to think about. The tavern in the basement is super cool and it was pretty tempting to keep putting off gambling downtown to have another with the b-tender, Don. The room was comfortable, the staff was extremely nice and we even got a free upgrade on our room. I would definitely recommend staying at St. Nick’s when you are looking for a fun, relatively inexpensive overnight trip.

St. Nick hotel is supposedly haunted and was originally built as a hospital back in the 1890’s. The owners of this place have certainly done as much as possible to keep the integrity of the era present within its walls. As with any older hotel you have to remember that you will be making certain sacrifices such as air conditioning. There was a pretty cool looking bar downstairs and they have a small restaurant inside. My biggest complaints were that they didn’t open breakfast earlier and everything was closed in the morning… no one was at the front desk to check out. Also, because I was on the second floor I had to listen to people walking around on the top floor from 12:30 — 2AM because the wood floors squeak uncontrollably. The views of Cripple Creek are very nice, and there is a hot tub on the second floor to enjoy them. Prices are average for this kind of stay. Considering the options in the area I’d be willing to stay again if I were on the top floor.
