Inspired farm-to-table cuisine in a relaxed setting. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here last week. The chefs care about the food and it shows in the presentation. I have two small complaints — 1) for the prices we paid, I expected higher quality proteins as my meat was seasoned perfectly however it was quite tough and the mussels were a bit lacking in flavor and 2) we asked to sit outside upon entering and were told they were not seating outside, however when we left, guests were on the patio. All in all, a great experience and hope they work out the small kinks and succeed in Croton!

From a visit last month: Excellent unique dinner at an open-style eatery where you can sit at the few bar stools and watch the chefs up-close and personal, or have a table. Clean, unique meals, good wines to go with, and courteous staff. Don’t go without a reservation and don’t be late! Good for special occasions, as the prices are $$$, but worth the experience. Thanks all!

BVT does have a view of the bridge and the Hudson, but you have to look past the huge old dock and parking lot to see it. There is one spot in the Tavern itself that you can get a unblocked view but it is definitely not as close as one is led to think. BVT is a separate business from the«Beer Garden» adjacent to the Tavern. They both have separate food & drink menus and bathrooms too. The ladies bathroom in the Beer Garden had a line and was cramped and was short toilet paper, women were using the men’s room instead. We saw a $ 5 mojito special in the garden, but when we were seated in the Tavern and asked for it, we were told that’s only in the Beer Garden, we thought the two were connected, employees seemed to be coming out of the same place so we were not sure of the correlation between the two places and their relationship. With all that being said, We went to the Bridge View Tavern(BVT). Two of us ordered burgers with garlic fries, and me and my wife ordered their signature Mac and Cheese. Looks nothing like the picture on Unilocal, it wasn’t smothered with melting cheese, rather spongy pasta with a sticky cheese presence. You have a choice of having it with shrimp or chicken, we both had each. When mine came there was a BBQ’d shrimp on top but no molten cheese with bacon flowing just like the picture! My wife had a piece of chicken on her dish. At first we thought that was the only protein but discovered there were bits of our choice meat within the food. But we were not getting what we were led to believe in regards to the picture on Unilocal. The garlic fries were pretty, they had what looked like parsley stuck to them, but I didn’t get a noticeable garlic flavor. It’s like they were slightly brushed with garlic, there was more parsley on them then there was garlic, so in essence you are paying extra for parsley. The burgers looked tasty but were very dry, the bread was nice and there were those faux garlic fries in the basket with the burger. Now granted we may have not ordered BVT’s best food, they smoke their own meat right on the premises and I saw other tables with beautiful BBQ’d ribs and short ribs that looked so good, so perhaps we’ll be making a trip back, but it won’t be for the view of the parking lot!

My husband and I have been here a few times. The food is great. It is a little pricey for Croton, but you get what you pay for. Definitely a repeat.

I’ve been on Unilocal for years and have never reviewed any restaurants but felt this review necessary: go to this restaurant. Absolutely delicious and quite possibly one of the best meals I’ve had. Worth the drive from NYC!

We were a party of 4, and had a spectacular dinner/time here. For apps, we had charred Brussels sprouts, squash ravioli, and burrata, and the corn soup, and while all were phenomenal the winner of the appetizer round was the homemade corn soup. Heavenly is drastically inadequate a description. My veal was delicious and my wife’s pork belly was the best I’ve ever had(better than Farmer and Fish’s by a long shot). The braised short rib though was the winner. According to my friend, it was the best he’s ever had(and this is a guy who loves his short ribs). Lastly, the owner visited our table, and in addition to being an incredibly nice guy, he shared my who shared his private stash of really sweet bourbon with us. I will be going back soon. Definitely worth the visit.

This restaurant offers seasonal cuisine. I enjoy the creativity and attention to the dishes here. Portions are on the smaller end however it makes up in flavor and quality. The fabulous bread offered after you order can compensate for those who need a substantial filling of the tummy. I personally can’t ever get enough of that bread. The wine list is carefully selected to compliment the dishes. The outdoor seating is a nice addition to the restaraunt. The atmosphere is relaxed and gears towards a mature croud.

Regardless of how much you charge, and Hopscotch charges a lot, you need to give at least one-shit about the food you serve to people. Stingy wine pours, laughably sized portions, and a general un-inspired air about everything they put in front of us. I’ve seen what they have to offer and I see no reason to return.

Just returned from a disappointing meal at Hopscotch. The food was… fine. The serving sizes were… insulting. We ordered a $ 20 appetizer and 2 $ 30 entrees, and were incredibly disappointed. The lamb entrée was literally two slices of meat with nothing on the side, except 3(literally) pieces of broccoli. That summed up everything we ordered. My wine pour($ 14) was also a joke. My husband and I love food, and are willing to pay for a great experience, so the prices wouldn’t have bothered us if the experience was worthwhile. My advice: go to Xaviers, Peter Pratts, or Birdsall House, where the food is prepared with love. These prices/portions wouldn’t fly in NYC, so why in Croton?

Rude rude rude. My niece walked in ahead of us and one of the workers waved his finger no at one of his co workers in regard to us sitting and eating at this restaurant. They proceeded to tell us that the restaurant only seats with reservations, although that is not listed anywhere on their website or their Unilocal page. This was disgusting behavior and I will never eat at a restaurant that treats a thirteen year old the way these people treated my niece. Unacceptable.

Fantastic food, wonderful chefs and the owner is awesome. We sat at the bar and watched the chefs cook, they were great! We were celebrating our engagement and they couldn’t have made us fee more special. The food was amazing too! We are used to eating like that in the city but it was a real treat to get such well made dishes in Croton. We will definitely be going back next time we are up that way.

Blue Hill was closed so we came here. Fresh, local food that hits all the right notes. I liked the simple menu — we ordered in one minute. Waitress, Ashley, was great. The open kitchen is a nice touch. You can thank the chefs on the way out.

Delicious! We had three courses and each meal was fantastic! Portions aren’t huge so recommend all three courses if your hungry. Lamb was my favorite! Service was great, we had time between each meal to enjoy the dining experience. Friendly staff. We sat outside to enjoy the warm evening. I’d definitely come back.

Came here because of the review in the New York Times on Jan 23, 2015. When we arrived the place was a little warm inside, it seems the AC needs a little adjustment in order to cool the whole room, so we asked to sit in the back of the restaurant since that was the coolest place than in the front. They do have outdoor seating with plenty of parking. The dining room is narrow and painted a nice deep ocean blue, but what was missing on the walls were paintings or some sort of decorations — the walls were just plain boring. Now a positive about this place I thought it was great that you can see the Chefs(2) preparing the dishes right in the middle of the dining room, they are not hidden behind a secret door. I feel the service was great and the food was delicious, and prepared to perfection, plus they do have a nice wine selection. Now for the meal, we shared the Pappardelle with pumpkin seeds, carrot marinara that was out of this world — who would think carrot marinara could taste so good. Also, the Skirt Steak(cooked medium rare) with scallions, wax beans and black garlic was fabulous! It was a thick piece of steak beautifully presented on the plate cooked to perfection. My only complaint was the ventilation, there is none — thus when I arrived home my cloths smelled like I was working in the kitchen all day. This is the only reason why I would think twice about returning here. If they update the ventilation system then I would make this place my go-to restaurant when coming to Croton-on-Hudson. All and all, the food is fabulous and service great — I would have given this place 5 Stars but the ventilation made me give it 4 Stars.

Second satisfying visit here. This time, for dinner. My husband ordered the canteloupe gazpacho(which we drank with a straw, served in a hollowed out melon); i had the beets with goat cheese. Husband had the halibut entrée, and I had the scallops with clams. Everything was presented beautifully and arrived at the table timely and at good temperature. The scallop entrée reminded me of an experience in Belgium where I was tasting new flavors along with familiar ones too. Fresh and different, delicious(dare I say healthy?). Marko reminds me of a restauranteur in Paris, who takes great interest in everyone’s dining experience, and chatting with him, it’s clear how much he loves food and is proud of what the kitchen staff produce.

We went for brunch past Sunday(based on listing in Westchester mag as one of the great new place s to try). The food(scrambled eggs with finely minced ham & chicken waffle) was excellent and the service exceptional.

Not worth the time or money. Came for dinner, waited an HOUR for the first course. I understand everything is cooked from scratch, but an hour is unacceptable. Tiny portions. Curt waitstaff. Owner tried to come over and talk to us about the dishes but it failed to salvage the experience.

I met a friend their for dinner and although the food is fabulous, the prices are astronomical and everything is a la carte. They are so cheap that they put one slice of wrapped bread on the table for my friend and I to share! I would say that the food and price would make it a «special occasion» place, but the atmosphere is more pizzeria like. The kitchen and bar area is open to the dining and while I don’t mind that atmosphere, when I’m paying top price I’d like it to be a bit nicer. The serving staff was lovely and very attentive.

Wife and I drove out here for Saturday brunch and a visit to the Croton Point Park. Brunch was very good; we both had french toast with black plums and orange zest, and it was some of the best french toast we’ve had. I also had a side of bacon, which was not what I expected. It was very fatty(had to trim it to avoid eating large amounts of fat), but had excellent flavor. Couple sitting behind us had scrambled eggs with Surryano ham, which smelled divine. Definitely a bit pricey, so probably a better option for dinner than brunch.

Was visiting friends in Ossining and had a solid experience here. Definitely worth a stop. I had three courses — chilled pea soup, chicken dumplings, and bass with ramps and yams. Everything dish — while described in minimal terms — contained creative surprises in the plating and execution that made this feel like more than your usual lower Hudson Valley seasonal/farm-to-table restaurant.
