Excellent food and beer selection. Nice atmosphere. The wait staff can be lacking at times though.

My friend and I were on a mission to visit local restaurants and this place by far exceeded our expectations. On the outside, it looks nothing more than a little bar, but on the inside, everyone is friendly, happy, and the service is excellent. There was even a band playing on the day we visited! This local gem is a bit crammed(especially if you stand near the bar), but everyone was very cordial. We waited outside for a few minutes before deciding it was too cold. Good word of advice is be careful not to lean on their chalkboard menu while waiting since the chalkboards are everywhere. My friend got some nice food menu printed on his hoodie a few times. We waited about 30 minutes for seating around 7pm with reservations and needless to say, we could see why there was a long wait. The burgers were excellently cooked, perfectly savory and smokey, and very juicy. The fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Asian burger with two quail eggs, soy sauce mayo, and Asian slaw was the best! We both scarfed the entire burger in less than ten minutes. Compared to Red Robins, the burgers here blows it out of the water. Even my friend who is a burger connoisseur(he ordered a plain burger, by the way), said he’d give this 8 out of 10. This place is the local gem!

THEEE best Mac n Cheese, Fried Pickles and craft beer selection. So cozy and comfy if you get there early enough to get a good seat. Def worth the wait though.

This is definitely a favorite for many in the area. I can see why: as far as bars go, the selection is excellent. It’s a craft beer oasis in a Coors Light desert. The bottle list is quite extensive and there are many great draft selections including the Dog and Bull Amber which was pretty great. The food menu also boasts some great stuff-your-face worthy items — my eyes(and stomach) were initially drawn to the Fried Pickels and the build your own Mac and Cheese. I ended up trying the Falafel burger, a pretty unique entrée I haven’t really seen elsewhere. Imagine one giant fried falafel ball on a burger bun… I was pretty satisfied with it! Contrary to popular opinion I wasn’t so impressed with the famous Crack Fries, which are fries with cheddar cheese fondue and seasoned with garlic and topped with parmesan. The fondue was a little too much to put on fries for my liking. The service was pretty lackluster this particular day, we didn’t get really checked on that frequently at our table, entrees came out before appetizers, and orders were not properly taken. The space in the dining area is also pretty cramped with my chair backed right against kids who were seated behind me. I enjoyed the food and beer but that all kind of distracted from the experience, hence the rating I gave it. We may have been better off grabbing seats at the bar. That said, the menu is intriguing enough to warrant a trip back, it’s definitely worth a shot.

Great beer selection and really good service. Burgers were good but the buns were subpar, almost like they were leftover from yesterday. That really put a damper on my experience because after reading all the great reviews I expected better that a leftover bun.

Amazing food, accommodating service definitely one of my favorite local dinner spots! I had halibut Wellington with this amazing lemon sauce. I quite enjoyed the service this past time but other times have had waitresses that weren’t as accommodating as you would hope. But all in all I highly recommend this place for their food and drink even if you are going with someone who doesn’t drink alcohol all the food will definitely make up for that part as well as the table seating in the back

Where do I start with this gem. Tons of craft beer choices! Tons of great recipes! Friendly service with a nice touch. This pub reminds me of what you’d find over in England. Cozy with soccer on the tellys with cold beer and great grub. There’s always a good crowd in here with live music. Get in for brunch if you’re a bloody Mary fan. Best burgers in Bucks county in my opinion! I can keep on with this place so I’ll let you try it out for yourself

Wonderful surprise! Atomosphere was fun & funky! Love the live music! Food was so yummy! The Ahi Tuna was the best meal. All others were good too! Oh, the Dog House salad was scrumptious!

I love this place. The food and drinks are awesome. They have an enclosed back patio, which is great. Friendly staff and just a great atmosphere all around.

6:30 p.m., 11⁄25 — Nice little place with a great beer selection and very good food. I’d expect to find a place like this in Old City or Fishtown, but I’m glad it’s in Croydon. Staff was cool, helpful and efficient and the crowd down to earth. I loved the ‘crack’ fries and burger and my wife was pleased with her salmon salad. We will return.

I had Dog and Bull bookmarked since we moved to the area and was so happy to finally get to check it out! We had a friend in town and took him to a brewery close to Dog and Bull, and when looking up places close by, saw that we were only four minutes away. We stopped in on a Wednesday night around 9pm and I was surprised at how crowded it was! They told us that the bar was full and we could sit at a table in the front room, or in the enclosed patio and we opted for the front room. We grabbed a table close to the entrance of the bar and I loved that we could hear the music that was being played. There was also a small tv in the front room that showed the two person band as they were playing. We started with the sweet chili calamari(marinated in lager and buttermilk, lightly fried, served with sweet chili sauce and pickled onions). They came out looking like mini, perfect onion rings; we of course dug in and were not disappointed. The calamari itself was great, and the breading was fantastic. The sweet thai sauce was the perfect balance of sweet with a little bit of spice, and if you add a piece of the pickled onion to your calamari, and dip that in the sauce it is insanely good! I was so excited to see the create your own macaroni and cheese so I immediately knew I was doing that! It comes in a cheddar ale sauce and I added sauteed onions, fresh tomatoes, bacon, and pepperjack cheese. I love the acidity that tomatoes add to macaroni and cheese, and these were no exception. The onions were delicious also, but I thought some pieces were a little big(like — need a fork and knife to cut them«big»). My one complaint is that I thought the cheddar ale sauce was a little bland on its own and could use a little bit of a pick me up — even a little salt would have been a happy addition to it. Our friend also ordered the macaroni and cheese and added pepperjack, bacon, pulled pork, and remoulade. The pulled pork and remoulade made a world of difference in the macaroni and cheese, and while I hate to admit it, his was definitely better and far more flavorful than mine. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which I didn’t even get to try because he devoured it in about three bites, so suffice it to say he loved it! I did have one issue with the bathroom — I am a little weird about public bathrooms and the level of cleanliness — I noticed when I was washing my hands there was quite a bit of mold around the where the faucet and knobs are on the sink, which I assume means the bathroom has seen cleaner days. Overall, I will definitely come back here because I would love to try more things on their menu!

I came here on a drive back from NY to DC with 2 friends. It’s a little out of the way, but not too much. The reviews were good, so we figured it’d be worth the slight detour. We got there at right around 11am. The door was locked, probably still setting up. Then at around 11:05, one of the staff opens the door, looks at us, and asks«Were you guys trying to get in?». Granted, we were trying to get in, but no greeting, no smile, no «come on in.» We followed her inside and were promptly greeted with an acute vomit smell. The entire inside of the restaurant smelled like they had just barely cleaned up puke from 10 people scattered throughout(that’s probably why they didn’t open right at 11). We ordered and then moved outside to the back patio, which was pretty nice. Once we got our food, we were chowing down. We each got burgers from the lunch special menu. They were really good, especially the fried onions. Besides the food though, everything was not as good as I expected. Maybe they were having an off day, but it just wasn’t as great as the reviews made it seem. I don’t need a place to have excellent service or even be all that clean, but Dog and Bull failed on too many attributes.

Dog & Bull is by no means a dive-bar! It’s food and craft beer menu never disappoints and it keeps up with the new rotation of craft beers alongside many of the most popular beer spots in Philadelphia. Despite its location, which is conveniently right at the Croyden train station, Dog & Bull is a must go, eat and drink spot for anyone who appreciates great food and really great beer. A constant go-to spot when we’re not exploring a new place — the Dog & Bull is now a favorite location. Enjoy!

A little too much atitude from the red head bartender. It seemed like she was trying to be nice but faked it. Sorry, but you are in the customer service business, get it together. Still my favorite bar in town.

My surprise of the month came from this unsuspecting ale house in Croydon, PA, where their hangover-curing menu is only surpassed by their bountiful stock of beer and other fine beverages. Aside from the lackluster service, this place is a must for beer enthusiasts and burger-lovers! The Food: Arguably one of the best burgers that I have ever tasted, the Cheddar-Ale Bacon Burger($ 11) has the People’s Choice Award for a reason. The name alone was undeniable, but the perfectly cooked burger topped with crispy onions and bacon, and perfected with drizzlings of the Cheddar-Ale Sauce will inspire you. Whether to drink more beer, become the next president of this fine country, or otherwise, the cook obviously is helping move society forward. The Atmosphere: This is an alehouse, and thus it lives up to its name with a tavern-like feel with good drinking music and a low-lit atmosphere. Mind you, it is neither loud nor dank, just at the right level of appropriate. The Price: This is a $$ type of place, with an entrée around $ 8 – 12 bucks. Do yourself a favor, and follow their beer-food pairing recommendations; it won’t break your wallet. The Service: This was the only«meh» part. Nothing exceptionally. One of our drink orders was forgotten, main entrees came out a different times, and the waitress lacked charm. Kind of below average, which is a shame considering the home run elsewise.

I really wanted to love this place. The menu seemed absolutely amazing and mostly everyone here seemed to have such great things to say about it! I was still a little hesitant considering it is in Croydon, and Croydon is kind of a dumpy place anymore. I took the dive anyway to give it a go. It’s a small place with a decent amount of seating outside. There were TVs in various places and there so happened to be live music playing on a Sunday afternoon. I actually liked that the music was ridiculously loud, it was smooth background tunes of enjoyable covers. I can definitely see that place getting packed quickly since it’s so tiny, but that didn’t bother me. Choices, oh so many choices. I decided to order one of the specials, which was a lamb burger with gorgonzola cheese and bacon. It came with a side of fries that I upgraded to garlic parm style for a buck extra. The person I was with ordered the«No Bull» Bomber Burger with an upgrade to crack fries. I was so excited to eat mine(and theirs). The wait was pretty long for the food. I can be pretty patient with food service, but it didn’t seem too busy in there. I overlooked it though. However, the place was crawwwwwwling with flies. As I looked around I could see them everywhere, and numerous hands swatting them. It was a little off-putting. One or two is fine, but it was a lot. It seemed like there was one guy running all the food, which I felt bad for… so I was sure to be super nice to him by the time he got to us! As for the food… mine was fine. It really wasn’t anything that blew my top or had me dying for more. The burger was average. It wasn’t bad, but by what I read I was really expecting something out of this world. The fries were pretty good. They were kind of soft, but the garlic parm hit the spot. I liked that it was fresh parm and not the shaker stuff. I felt like there was something missing and couldn’t really pinpoint it. I did have a taste of the«Bomber,» which did have a pretty delicious taste. I was jealous and wish I would have ordered that instead. The crack fries were decent. I do not think my plate of food was worth 16 bucks though. Would I be back? Probably. I feel like I might have just ordered the wrong thing that time around based on what I hear from everyone else. If I went back, I’d probably stick with a regular menu item. There were numerous interesting things that looked good that I haven’t seen anywhere else. I was also intrigued that they do brunch on the weekends. If I decide to go back, I’ll definitely update my review.

I cannot say enough about this place! They have UNREAL blackboard specials every week. The regular menu is awesome as well. If you have not been here you need to get here. HUGE shout out to the KITCHEN! Servers are great, bartenders know their stuff. Totally worth at least a 20 – 30 minute drive.

This place does two things right: beer and burgers. 1. They have a lot of local craft beers on tap. If they don’t have it on tap, check their bottled list. They WANT you to have a good beer with your meal, so there’s got to be something for you. Also, on their food menu, they list what type of beer(IPA, stout, etc) pairs with each dish. The owner seriously wants you to enjoy your experience here. 2. The burger was awesome. Made to order and in between the most buttery, softest brioche bread ever, you can order a predefined burger or customize it however way you like. I did the custom route with mushrooms and goat cheese. GOATCHEESE! How often do you see that as an option for a burger?! Fantastic. Throw in a pile of hand cut fries and a pickle spear and I was set. The rest of the food I got was just ok. I did the wings and calamari, and both were unmemorable. Wings were fried right, but it was light on buffalo sauce, so I asked for more on the side. Even with that, the buffalo sauce wasn’t one of the better ones I had. And the blue cheese was thick, but tasted off. Assuming they customize it somehow which I wasn’t a fan of. Come early — this place gets crowded. Fast. It’s a small space, so if you don’t get a table in the dining area, you’ll be sitting at a high top in the bar area. And that’s narrow and packed. This place delivers on my two great loves, burgers and beer. So because of that, I’ll be back.

Croyden has its full share of divey bars and used-to-be-great taverns where a working person could belly up and grab a few mugs of frosty before heading home, or before bed. Dog & Bull was one of those places in yesteryear, but is not THAT place any more. That it is a way cool micro bar on the tracks next to the train station, is true, but what the owners have done with it brings it to another level of coziness and good grubbiness. It is now a favorite watering hole for anyone looking for a cool place for a few drinks or a better than good lunch or dinner. It is tiny. But, they have a great number of crafts on draft, plus a menu that keeps you entertained. So, even though I walked in thinking we would have a drink and conversation, we ended up sitting at a high top over dinner. The place is intriguing. We both drank the hard Cherry Cider, a first for me, but likely not the last. It was cool, mildly sweet, and oh, so, refreshing. My Fried Chicken was done well with Mashed and lightly steamed String Beans. It satisfied my recent addiction and it was interesting to see how different this dish could be from the standard KFC. I did not taste my partners Salmon Wrap, but it was large and she stopped talking after she bit off the first chew. Must have been good. Before leaving, the live music began. An acoustic set by a local artist whose first cover of a Neil Young classic was decent. He was game, but playing at the back end of the barroom is not the best way to grab everyone’s attention. While his guitar and voice were amped, it was not so loud as to disturb anyone who wanted to continue conversing. Nice touch. I really like what they’ve done to the place, and will return for more of the cool atmosphere, good drinks, and well produced bar/comfort food.
