This little diner is surprisingly, and delightfully, delicious. The chicken fried steak and French fries were more delicious than I expected from this casino café

Breakfast was surprisingly delicious. The staff could pay attention better when taking our order. The waitress screwed up my order twice.

It’s a coffee shop. In a hotel/casino. Expect the usual greasy spoon fare and you won’t be disappointed. If you want something nicer/organic green juicy/custom fancy french toast or Benedict oohs and ahs, go somewhere else. There are a million other places around the lake that will accommodate after you wait an hour in line and pay about $ 10 more per person. Bottom line, this place is consistent, affordable, and convenient. I used to frequent this place as a college student late into the night with my(then) boyfriend,(now) husband, and 20 years later, we still come here. Gotta love it.

Four of us from the office went here for lunch today. We were hoping that the BBQ place would be open, but it was not. This review is for the items on the lunch menu. I have to say that the lunch menu is very limited. This place is definitely much more generous in the breakfast menu area. As such two of us had breakfast and two of us had lunch. The breakfasts were reported to have been good while the lunches could have been MUCH better. The other dining companion who ordered a lunch had the Chicken Tenders which were served with fried. The menu said that the chicken was marinated and then breaded. The chicken was indeed marinated in some sort of mystery brew which was slightly off-putting. They were however panko breaded which I thought was a unique touch. The BBQ sauce that they were served with was very off-putting. I had the Chicken Caesar Salad. The bowl it arrived in was warm so the lettuce that came in contact with it was wilted. The lettuce itself was so underdressed that I had to order a side of dressing to spice it up. It came with more croutons than grilled chicken. And the grilled chicken was tough and had this reheated aftertaste to it so it was slightly unappetizing as well. Overall the lunches were a disappointment. It looked like you would be better off ordering breakfast. This place used to be quite popular with good food at lunch time. It could be so again with some effort. Our lunch group has decided not to visit here for lunch again however. The service was good however.

It’s an old place from the 70s I think. The food in the trays did not look appealing except maybe for the country potatoes. Those looked and tasted good. So instead I ordered an omelette(included in the buffet price) and it was very good and folded into the perfect size. Pancakes were made upon order too but I did not try them. The restaurant had reflective mirrors on the ceiling which was adding to the cheesiness of the place, it’s really a old place and needs a make over. However, Service was good and the bathrooms were clean.

Okay, so this is not the place you take a first date. It is a pretty run down standard café in a low level struggling casino on the wrong end of the lake. We hit this place for a late breakfast while vacationing on a whim. The service was fast, the food was good, solid standard American fare — well prepared, a lot of food and very very cheap. I had the eggs, sausage, hash browns and toast and it was $ 5.95 and was a huge portion. Coming from the south lake, it was a welcome break from the woefully high prices for a basic breakfast.

I tried the $ 9.95 Tuesday night Prime Rib deal: The Prime Rib is below average, and the other fix’ns were lame. However, for Tahoe, it’s a pretty good deal. On the plus side, it’s a retro-ironic casino meal deal, complete with circular booths in Naugahyde.

Came in on a Sunday for lunch and it was what it was. We were seated promptly but it took a while for our order to be placed. The«while» it took, I actually contemplated getting up and leaving. After ordering a chicken sandwich and receiving it, I was told I could get up and get all the condiments I needed at the bar. Excuse me? You could have told me that sandwiches were served dry. I didn’t bother and just ate the sandwich dry. The one shining star is that I was allowed to substitute a salad for the french fries and the salad was decent.

Our server gets five stars: really honest and advised us on what breakfast entrees to avoid. I loved the server’s facial reaction when I asked about their eggs benedict. Totally classic! The server brought us our drinks quickly and regularly checked to make sure that we were ok. Yes, I keep saying«server» because I do not want him/her to get in trouble for keeping it real and advising us on what dishes were nasty. $ 3.50 Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas? WHAT??? Cheap and they didn’t skimp on the alcohol. That made my morning much much brighter. Food gets about two stars. I ordered the chicken fried steak and Loverboy ordered the build your own omelette. Both dishes had the same quality as a Denny’s breakfast. They do give generous portions but there was nothing special about them. The food was decent even though the dishes we ordered were slightly bland. The gravy slathered on the chicken fried steak had too much flour and it needed more seasoning. The omelette needs more flavor too. I probably will be back only for the cheap but strong mimosas. A couple mimosas should be good enough for breakfast right?

A very uneventful café /restaurant within the Biltmore Hotel & Casino, which should only be visited between the hours of 11pm and 9am. The 24 hr food service is the best thing about this place. Our meal was OK– I had chicken tenders and my wife had a simple but tasty grilled cheese. But don’t veer off the ‘simple’ food path or you could be in for a negative surprise.

This place holds a special memory for me. My sister took me over 10 years ago to this place for dinner after teaching me how to snowboard over at Alpine Meadows. The place has not been remodeled since then and the only thing that has changed are the waiters. I ordered the philly-cheese steak-like sandwich and it was good. the french fries were yummy too. If I want a cheap and quick bite to eat, I’d definitely come back. I’ve been here 3 times over the past 10 years. I don’t think that if I were to come back in a few years this place will exist, pretty sad-seems like it might go out of business soon?

Waiter had no idea. When I asked what beer as on tap, his response was, «Oh you know, just the normal stuff…» Forgot to put in order, but only manager admitted to his mistake. Waited an hour for food. Horrible service. Food just ok.

This café /diner, which feels straight out of a 1980 roadside diner, but is in the back of the Casino of the same name, was almost completely empty when we went in at 7PM on a Saturday night the second week of ski season. The food was remarkably(surprisingly) good /freshly cooked. Our waiter was friendly and actually helpful — he told us what he thought was particularly good on the menu, and what he wouldn’t recommend.(Recommended: Burgers, the fried chicken, the pot roast, among other items) The mozzarella sticks were solid, freshly fried, a crust that may be home-made, and came with a far better than average marinara sauce. The burgers come in three sizes: 4 ounce, 8 ounce, and 2.5 pound(which is party of a food challenge /promotion they have). The 8 ounce was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the toppings I added were generous and tasty as well. The fries were also home-made, and tasted it. On the fried chicken, they brought out a different hot sauce when we asked(the sauce they put on their wings). The other people at my table said the soups were good; I didn’t taste. Guinness on tap was $ 4.50; they have a happy hour special on beer that ended right before we got there. Overall, I’m surprised by the low scores everyone else gave it; the casino is a complete dive, but the food here was very good for the price and location(middle of no where). I’ll come back when staying in the area for skiing. Note that the location was previously wrong in Unilocal — it’s 5 Highway 28; same building as the Casino.

I thought casino food was supposed to be cheap?! Chicken fingers and two hamburgers for the kids two garden salads The fish & chips«special» for each grown-up one beer, one ice tea, five waters One brownie sundae for everyone to share $ 66 — sixty-six dollars!!! food was fine, nothing horrible, nothing special one waitress for the entire restaurant, we waited forever(though she was very kind and apologetic). So glad I live in CA, because the smoke is killing me. Are we CA’s really so freakish for having banned smoking inside? Disgusted that I upped the tab to $ 72 for a barely tip, and when the credit card statement came, it was for $ 86.76. Giving yourself a $ 20 tip!!!, I guess you weren’t as nice as I thought you were… I will never go here again. You should never go here to begin with.

The Café Biltmore has to be judged within the context of the Biltmore Casino which it is part of. Of the North Shore Lake Tahoe state line casinos, the Bilt is the worst, of course. So, that being said, the restaurant there is not that bad. Of all the restaurants in the area, this is the cheapest. I got the Mountain club sandwich which was a BLT stacked on turkey/ham/cheese. It was huge, and it was pretty damn good, for some food at 11pm. I was happy.

Went here a couple weeks ago for Sunday brunch, advertised as a buffet for 9.95. A sign at the front listed items at the buffet: fruit, salad, eggs, hash browns, sausage, etc. Sounds OK, right? WRONG. The«fruit» was a bowl of FRUITCOCKTAIL, I kid you not. The salad consisted of a couple bowls of lettuce, which at least looked fresh. That was the extent of the fruit and salad selections. There were 2 scrambled egg dishes, one w/sausage I think, and one«vegetarian» w/some nasty tasting broccoli mixed in. The hash browns were the frozen kind. The coffee sucked. They also had some non-breakfast type dishes lined up; beans, macaroni and cheese, ribs, and a couple other things, all of which looked absolutely unedible. My BF and I agreed it was one of the worst meals we had encountered.

Café Biltmore used to be where all the locals came for cheap eats on a late night. Then they did away with the $ 1.99 breakfasts. So after almost two years, I returned last night with two friends who were visiting from the UK. It was 7 pm on a Tuesday. Granted, I wasn’t expecting the place to be packed, but the place was deserted. A sad sign of the times or a reflection of bad food /service? The counters near the kitchen are gone. No more sitting on the counter. Ah, I used to love Sunday mornings eating my cheapie brekkie and reading the newspaper. We were seated and given the menu. I picked it up and said, «Where’s the rest of it?» The menu options were extremely limited, so you better like your Mexican and burger choices(because why not offer the same thing that 487 other restaurants in Tahoe offer?) We ordered the roasted chicken and prime rib dishes. The waiter told me it was the last piece of prime rib left — how can you run out of prime rib at 7 pm on a Tuesday night when the restaurant is embarrassingly empty? The roasted chicken was good, but the prime rib left a lot to be desired — not much flavor left and it certainly looked like the Last Prime Rib On Earth. Service in the past has always been fast and efficient. Not tonight. No one ever brought the drink I requested. No one came to refill water or to ask if we needed anything or if we wanted dessert or coffee. It took 20 minutes for anyone to notice we were done with our meal and to come over and bring the check(and this with me waving my arms around like I was flagging an airplane down). I left a $ 3 tip on a $ 35 tab and I was being generous.

On our snow holiday recently, we needed a place to eat lunch. Our friends picked this place. WHAT a throwback to the 70s! There were mirrors, mirrors everywhere — even on the ceiling! Now, some might thing that little girls are more vain than little boys. Well, they haven’t met my younger son. He could not get enough of looking at himself. At home, for example, we are careful to give him the seat that faces AWAY from our glass fronted cabinet … or he’ll look at himself all throughout dinner. So, at any rate, based on the décor, tacky 70s, I wasn’t expecting that much from the quality of the food. I was determined to have a good time since we were with friends, and what’s the point in being a spoilsport? And actually, the food was pretty decent! I started with the fried zucchini sticks, figuring that I could handle deep fried with all the exercise early in the day; dipped in ranch dressing, fried zucs are delicious! Then I had a burger; there was a choice between a ¼ pound or a ½ pound burger! So, in fact, I actually had half of a ½ pound burger. The restaurant had a burger bar for the condiments where we could load up as much lettuce, tomatoes, etc, as we wanted. Since there was also a burrito bar, my son loaded his half of a burger with olives — sounds odd, don’t you think? This place satisfied my cravings and my hunger. Like Joy V said, it was basic, simple fare … and friendly and fast service. So, aside from the mirrors, which are detrimental to focused eating, this place is «A-OK.»

As you can see it isn’t often that I give a Numero Uno to any place, however this place actually deserves a half star or less. I use to eat here late night almost every trip to North Shore and I enjoyed the place, in fact I was looking forward to spending some of the money I just won and buying my friends whatever their little hearts desired. One small problemo, the place sucks big time now! As we walked in there was a lady complaining to the hostess about her food and the quality of it, I asked what’s the problem, I remember the food being good. The hostess said«use to is the key word», she said new owners took over and basically ruined the place. She said eat at your own risk and a warning that there is no more $ 1.99 breakfast or steak and eggs. We rolled the dice since there was nothing else open that we knew of, we were seated with a very basic bland menu and waited, and waited and waited, no one came over to us after about 15 minutes we decided to leave since the menu didn’t look that good and the customers are complaining and the staff there said it sucked. The hostess said sorry to us on our way out. So I can’t give a review on the food since we couldn’t get anyone to take our order… We did find out from a cab driver outside that the place directly across the street has late night food now and the waiter there was really cool and attentive, he said they are getting a lot of people like us who had a bad experience, he said he use to work there and left because it sucked. Looks like they need to make some changes in order to be successful, I do wish them the best of luck so I can spend some of my winnings there in the future.

Im Hungry and Its Really Late on Tuesday Night. And Its the only place open. I think they deserve 5 stars for that. ~The Menu was basic and simple. ~Service was friendly and Fast. ~And the price of my Midnight binge French Fri eating was extremely cheap… I guess that leaves me with nothing bad to say.
