First the good, our waiter was friendly, helpful and all around good natured and customer service oriented. He’s a great asset to the restaurant and will be successful wherever he decides to work beyond Steamers. Ok, years ago I was a local and my friends and I loved this place. I recall the pizza fondly, the views during the summer are stunning and the restaurant used to be busy on a regular basis. Now the bad, the pizza of today, 2016, was edible but honestly had absolutely no flavor. Truly it seemed to have all come out of a can. Canned dough, canned sauce, etc, you get the idea. My husband, daughter and I all took the view above. That said my little boy loved the pizza. In a nut shell, if you want good service and warm but tasteless pizza Bön appetite.

I’m a local. I found this kind of disappointing. The restaurant and bar were empty but the bartender was busy on his phone and not very interested in having to deal with customers. This would be better if it had a little friendlier environment.

Coming from Bay area, we’ve visited many pizzerias And really, there is not much really good home made taste ! Perhaps California Pizza Kitchen has the best flavor and taste to my opinion. But here in Tahoe we came across this awesome place, To start i would like to say that we were greeted very friendly and energetically by Craig :) we took a seat, we enjoyed the table next to the warm chimney. We ended here because being November 26 almost everything was closed! Until we saw the Open Sign on this awesome location! Well we ordered a medium Hawaiian pizza ! No kidding it was immediately prepared after we placed the order! And in only 10 minutes we had our warm Pizza! Now here are the stats on how that went! Flavor 9⁄10 Freshness 10⁄10 Crust.(lightly crunchy great taste) 10⁄10 Cheese 10⁄10 not greasy melty and creamy It was great!!! The location was also phenomenal! Great music, very calming ! And the costumer service was phenomenal too :) ! Great place, must come for great oven cravings! Ask Craig about the Appetizers! Thank you guys for the great time!

Holy Jesus on a pop cycle stick… I used to work at this place in the early 90’s and Rookies too… I loved this place and the food was absolute perfection… the Bloody Mary’s were the best in Lake Tahoe… the owner and staff where fantastic… my only mistake was leaving… planning on visiting but the reviews are saying that it’s self serve? I get it that Tahoe has been hit hard but the owner is a poo? I can’t believe that… it wasn’t my experience at all… it’s heartbreaking that business has suffered…

Have to take off a star for new«summer format.» No more table service. You come in and sit down, then they tell you to order at the bar. Then they give you a buzzer to let you know when it is ready and you go pick it up.

Note to restaurant owners, if you are going to take the time to respond to a customer comment, try to make the situation better. Why inflame an already bad experience? We are locals. We dine in Tahoe nearly every weekend. If you are reading this review, judge for yourself if you would ever dine in this gentleman’s establishment. Here was the owners’ response to my initial review: Hi Ryan, Greg G. sent you a message on Unilocal: Subject: counter service «Ryan, We had no choice in the change to „counter service“ as the Tahoe area is suffering from a incredible shortage of workers. I guess you have not noticed all the help wanted signs all around the North shore! We have all noticed that our vast majority of customers are fine with the change other than a certain demographic which apparently you fall in to. I am sorry we are unable to please every customer but some situations are out of our control. Greg Green owner 5303182222»

I must admit I was a little shocked when I went in Steamers last weekend and was told it is counter service now. You place your order and pay at the hostess stand, then seat yourself. They have a water station(with paper cups-ouch the hippie in me is not happy about that). They give you a buzzer so you can come to the window and grab your food when it’s ready. I was worried, very worried that with these changes would also come cut backs to the food. Thank pancakes I was wrong! The garlic strips(that’s why you go to Steamers) were just as tasty as ever. If you haven’t had garlic strips(or chips as I grew up calling them) it’s like a think crust pizza with fresh minced garlic and a thin layer of cheese cooked until the crust is crispy. Heaven I tell you! I do understand why Steamers has changed their ways from servers to counter service. Times are tough in Tahoe. No snow hit the local businesses hard and they are doing what they can do stay in business. I am super happy they have kept a float and will certainly pop in every time I am in Kings Beach for some super yummy food and a brilliant view from the patio.

Since the last Unilocal post, Steamers has no table service, You walk in and place your order with the bartender and then get a beeper to let you know when to com and get your own food! yes, get you food and drinks. this is awful and awkward. You come up to get you food in a little hole and, there isn’t anyone to check up on you at your table. The owner hasn’t realized, he screwed the staff of tips because the customers are doing all the work. P. S. the menu prices have been raised at least a buck! No service and mo’ money. nd super smelly greasy food. Smells like a carnival. EEWW.

Six months ago, our family would have rated it 4 stars. Tonight, we were thrown for a loop when we walked in and we had to order at the door. There was no more table service. We had to order and then we were given a buzzer to come pick up our food when it buzzed. We had to pick up our own condiments, utensils, and ketchup on plastic cups. If we wanted a refill, we had to walk back up to the bar. I can’t even imagine what this restaurant would be like on the weekend. The layout of the establishment does not fit this new«lack of service» theme. I am giving the place two stars because of the friendly bartender, hostess, and the consistent food. I hope that Steamers goes back to how they originally served their customers because then it would be the warm and welcoming atmosphere we loved so much.

They deserve four stars instead of three because they’re one of the few Kings beach restaurants that is dog friendly and their patio has a nice view of the lake. Their food is 3 stars because they forgot one of my kids’ pizza orders… no bueno with hungry kids… The wait staff though were attentive and offered us umbrellas from the drizzle. They just really need to improve their kitchen speed… they shouldn’t rest on their laurels given their nice location and view.

YESPLEASE!!! Love this place! Their pizza and calzones are wonderful! Their turkey avocado sandwich is life changing!!! Get the chips as a side dish and thank me later!!! Parking is a pain in the booty! But worth the walk! If you sit outside, you get to watch all the beach goers have a good time! Service is decent! Every time we have lunch in tahoe, this is at the top of our list!

Garlic Strips are really good! Marinara Sauce is tasty but try a coupla dips in some ranch too. Also one of the best Moscow Mules I’ve ever had. They had the Big Ten Network for a Sconnie basketball game I came here for after not one place at Northstar could show the game. Waiter was friendly and attentive when needed. I appreciated his recommendation on the Garlic Strips instead of the Garlic Bread. Music playing was good, seating was comfy and bathrooms were clean. Prices were a bit on the steep side I thought, but I have no basis for comparison in the area, so this maybe was standard. A beer, soda, Moscow Mule and the Garlic Strips were $ 29.70 pre tax. Would gladly come back for a game or if not, just for the Garlic Strips! Would love to try a pizza next time.

Our Tahoe rental recommended this place as the best pizza in the area. Judging by the look of this place from the street, this is not the kind of place I would expect to *have* pizza, let alone serve good pizza. But good it is. Especially impressive is the pepperoni that is flavorful and not greasy. The crust, cheese and the rest of the toppings were likewise much better than I’ve found on most pizzas these days. Has renewed my faith in pizza.

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for a lunch. We got pizza, homemade chips, and drinks. It was all very tasty. The Moscow Mule I got was extremely tasty. My boyfriend got a Long Island which was also good. We sat in the back inside with a view looking at the north shore of Lake Tahoe. It was pretty. The staff was super friendly but most notably they were very personable. The owner of the place even sat down at the bar with us and asked about our day and made good conversations with us. It was like eating in someone’s home!

the service was good. Pizza was okay. The steam clams I got was a disappointment; i was hesitant but decided to not ‘judge a book by its cover’. The broth was bland and the clams were a bit chewy. I actually had to add salt to the bowl of clams so that it wasn’t bland. it was not worth the price. The location was nice and friendly.

Our group went into Steamers to watch the Oregon/Michigan State football game, which was the biggest college football game that weekend. Steamers has large TVs in the bar area, which to me seems to be a signal to patrons that the game can be viewed here. We were the only customers inside the restaurant. There was a table of customers outside. Being the only table in the joint, we asked if they’d turn the music down and/or turn the game up so we could hear it. The waitress went and asked the owner, who was sitting about 15 feet away. «No!» he snapped. We asked again – asking if we could turn the TV up without turning down the music. Again, we’re the only customers in there at the time. Again, no. Now, I’m not sure why a bar would have TVs all over the place if they’re going to show a football game without letting you hear it. What’s the point of watching if you can’t hear it? But he wasn’t not in the mood to accommodate us. We ordered some beers. The selection of beers on draft was average. The selection in bottle was also average. The prices were fine. We ordered buffalo wings which were also average. Not good, not great. A bit greasy and fatty. We had planned to spend a good chunk of change at Steamers, but instead we didn’t order more than a beer per person out of protest. We left after the game and went to spend our money elsewhere.

Came here for take out to eat at the beach on a quiet monday afternoon. The food was really disappointing. Another review mentioned good garlic cheese bread and I figured that would be a safe option, man was I disappointed! I didn’t think it was possible to screw up such a simple menu item. Well Steamers did. It was undercooked with very little cheese or garlic. Also for some reason they gave us a side of pickles with it which was odd. Lastly what really annoyed me was that they used styrofoam containers. These things normally don’t bug me, but for some reason being near that amazing lake and having to trash something that won’t biodegrade was really upsetting. Consider how much of their business is take out; they are right on a beach. The containers reflected the food; they cheap out on everything and the quality is poor.

We were traveling through Tahoe a week ago and this was a great stop for a quick bite. We came in and it was just minutes from the 80. The parking lot was small so lucky we got a space because the road construction was hectic if we were going to have to find alternative parking. We sat outside on the patio and at first I was disappointed with the man sitting next to our table smoking right next to the clearly marked no smoking sign. He was with 2 other men that said they had to get back to work and were encouraging him to go. He said he wanted to stay and finally after 3 promptings from his coworkers(looked like they have been part of the construction work team) he left. Then my experience changed. I could now enjoy the beautiful view without getting nauseous. Sorry for the smokers out there but I’m not trying to be mean there are some of us non smokers who aren’t just trying to go against you but really do get sick. I thought it rude to smoke right where it is marked not to smoke. The Great Basin«Icky» beer served nice and cold was fantastic on a hot summer day. They were experiencing hotter than normal temps. Pizza was a very good size. Glad we didn’t go with the large because it would have been a waste with no way to keep any left overs. French fries were also good. Garlic Cheese Bread was very tasty with big chunks of garlic. Everything was cooked very good. Service was excellent! We received great suggestions from our waitress who said she had lived there her whole life and helped us figure out our next adventure after lunch. The Kayak rental across street and then go back across to the shallow water. Good for small children. There was also another very nice server who was very friendly to my children and started singing Batman to my son who was wearing a Batman tshirt. This place had a very cool vibe!

NOTDOGFRIENDLY!!! DO not bring your dog here! I would even go as far as to say do NOT go here at all if you are accustomed to being treated nicely OR having a pleasant meal! I have attached a picture of the sign that sits out front of this place. «Dog Friendly Patio»…Not exactly. My husband and I decided to try Steamers one Saturday evening because we saw the sign out front and were excited to try the pizza. We were seated on the patio and I wrapped my dogs leash around the leg of our table. We ordered drinks and garlic chips form the waitress who was very nice. When the waitress came back to give us our chips she asked if we let the dog off the leash because the owner of the restaurant, who was not there but watching from some hidden camera, called and said a dog was running around. When we told her no she apologized and said this sort of thing happened all the time. She went back inside then came out minutes later to tell us she was sorry but the owner would like us to leave or put the dog in the car. My husband, myself and the waitress were all so confused as to why we were being asked to leave that she apologized a 3rd time and even the gentleman who seated us came over to apologize as he didn’t see us do anything wrong. If it were not for the super sweet waitress and the understanding guy who sat us I would have canceled everything else we ordered and walked out. I feel like we got bait and switched… TAKEDOWNTHEDOGFRIENDLYSIGNIFYOUDON’T WANTDOGSINYOURESTABLISHMENT!!!
