I love this place. My nephew always asks me to take him here when he visits. The cake batter flavor is the best. :)

Yummy flavors! Wish they had smaller cups so the kiddo wouldn’t over-stuff himself, lol.

This is my second Yumz locations, and once again I still hate it. I thought i would be open to trying it once again. I was wrong. The flavor is still horrible and I couldn’t finish my bowl. I have been to many frozen yogurt places and they were all awesome, but Yumz, you gotta get your act together. I will be sure to never return.(again)

Great location. The store owners were very intelligent putting this next to a movie theater, as I see many people say that they went here after seeing a movie. I get that most of the older crowd do not enjoy the presence of mass amounts of teenagers, but get over it. Were all getting froyo in the name of froyo. I enjoy the Peanut Butter frozen yogurt the best, usually complemented with something chocolate or similar. I know its a bit overpriced, but I enjoy the concept and the flavors.

Went to Yumz one night looking for some good froyo. It was decent, but not great. Generally, I like my frozen yogurt to be more like yogurt, not ice cream flavors. While they had a lot of machines there(more than a self-serve Red Mango, for example), most of them had flavors like«chocolate chip cookie dough» or «mint chocolate chip.» I’m sure a lot of people would like those, they just personally didn’t do it for me(when I do want ice cream flavors, I just go get ice cream). The atmosphere is really fun. Lots of seating, and fun colors and chairs. Definitely seems like a cool place for people to come and stay for a little while. I’m going to take a step back and look at it from a parent’s perspective, though. This place would be great for parents because if you have a kid that wants ice cream this is a way to give them those sweet flavors without all the fat, calories, etc. because the froyo that Yumz serves is much healthier, and then they can top it how they want. It’s fun for them, and much better for them than ice cream, so I can see the appeal. I just personally didn’t care for it as much as other froyo places I’ve had in the area that have had more«fresh fruit» flavored options.

Coolest concept ever! Grab a cup, select some soft serve style yogurt … swirl it in. and then scoop all of the lovely candies, chocolates, sprinkles you want on top at the endless buffet of glory. Bring the cup to be weighed, get a spoon from cashier and devour it in 2 minutes or less. Be careful. That mountain of gorgeous candies and goobers, nuts and berries. seem to weigh more that the yogurt. Parents: Bring the kids but beware the buffet of glory !

What can you not like about a place that gives you an empty bowl, an assortment of self-serve frozen yogurt machines in various flavors and a toppings bar?! So, when you think frozen treats, you usually think calorie overload, right? Not the case here! Their fat free frozen yogurt has less than 100 calories per 4 ounces! They also have a colorful array of fresh fruit toppings and granola, so you can quiet your sweet tooth without bulging your belly! My only complaint is that the bowls are only available in 16-ounce sizes, which encourages over-indulgence. They really need to have a small, medium and large option because it is nearly impossible to have restraint when given a big bowl and unlimited access to a soft-serve machine. The cake batter flavored yogurt is my fav. Mix it with crushed oreos for a cookies and cream flavor, or mix it with crushed peanut butter cups or Butterfingers for a Blizzard-like treat. The topping choices are endless. Yumz is a pregnant lady’s dream come true.

If you’re looking for Pinkberry, this ain’t it, but in the absence of other options, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at Yumz just yet. Yes, it can be crowded, yes, its décor as a little«last year’s IKEA specials», but the yogurt is good and there are, despite arguments to the contrary, plenty of healthy options available. And you can load it up with candy and syrup, if your heart so desires. I think my biggest complaint would also be the pricing. I’m not one to shy away from the fruit, and I think I’ve yet to walk out of there dropping less than $ 6. Ouch. But worlds better than Dairy Queen!

There are times when it’s totally inappropriate, obnoxious and downright self serving to toot your own horn. Fortunately, this is not one of them. It just so: toot: happens: toot: that I am a tried: toot: and true: toot: frozen yogurt: toot: aficionado: toot: Now, I’ll have you know that with this title bears the most stringent burden of traveling far and wide to sample multitudes of diverse yogurt contributions. There is no yogurt too remote or topping too bizarre to elude this dairy queen. You’ve got your creamy variety(Forever Yogurt), a tart variety(Starfruit), the perfect variety(Pinkberry) and then something that registers so indecipherable you don’t exactly know how to categorize it. We’ll call that… the Yumz variety. The kind of yogurt that no matter what flavor you taste, they all seem oddly the same. Sort of like manufactured imitations of what they claim to be. Pumpkin Pie really is chalky milk chemicals with a hint of all spice. Peanut Butter is similarly chalky milk chemicals with a smidgen of Skippy. And, again, Cheesecake is really chalky milk chemicals with a brief insinuation of fromage. Sigh. Dry toppings seemed plentiful but the fresh fruit was bland and lifeless. Overall these offerings simply put were just aesthetically unappealing and about as unique as the candy aisle at your local Costco. Equally as unattractive was also the tattered black leather couch I positioned myself on at Yumz to ponder why again there are no Pinkberry’s in the ‘burbs. For shame. What this means is I am shitting you not as I doth profess that the yogurt yumz are yumz for the bleakest of tumz. Move along taste buds, nothing to swirl here.

The yogurt itself is actually pretty darn good, I had the mango and it was excellent! My problem is with what they charge for frozen yogurt… I can understand if you pile the toppings on but to pay over $ 17 for 3 small cups with about a tablespoon of fresh fruit on them is crazy! BTW, check the scales before they even put anything on them, they already have a weight on there… and you’re paying based on that weight! Just sayin… I’ll stick with Culvers, colonial café, or dairy queen where my money goes a lot further!

Had a lot of fun here. Went with my two kids under 10 and loaded up on sugary goodness. They love the«build it yourself» idea, and it’s really the only game in town in the far-far northwestern exurbs. The big problem I had, there were so many toppings I couldn’t reach some of them, even with my long arms. So you might need the person behind the counter to help you with that. The décor is kind of wacky, yes. it’s kind of loud in there, yes. Now stop complaining, lighten the hell up, and eat your dessert. Yes, you are going to encounter tons of kids and teens at a frozen yogurt shop. Also be aware that since this place is right next to the Regal 16 movies, you are going to get a ton of kids in here on the weekends hanging with friends and on dates and stuff like that. Same with the Culvers nearby on Pingree Road. Don’t be a crank, it’s hard to find fun stuff to do before you’re old enough to drink!

Yumz is awesome! Just be aware of how much stuff you actually put into your bowl. The first time I went I wanted to try all the fruits, and it ended up costing me like 7 bucks. But oh well, it was delicious. The only bad part is the typical clientele, which as others have stated, is usually a bunch of junior high kids on «dates» that come in packs of 10 and stay for what seems like forever. It definitely makes you feel old!

A good concept. Put as much of different flavors of frozen yogurt in a bowl as you want, put as much of different varieties of toppings on top as you want, and pay for it based on weight. The female hostesses wear t-shirts with brand name messages on them, which can also be purchased,(the shirts, not the hostesses… and not the shirts the hostesses wear, but new ones) and they continuously keep the self-service area clean, wiping up dripped yogurt and spilled toppings. They seem conscious of the fact that serving yourself from a counter covered with drips and spills is unappetizing. There are a few less tables and chairs than would be ideal to me. It always feels funny to leave a register with your product in hand, ready to sit down to eat it, and see that your choice of seating is either at an already occupied table with an unused chair opposite the person already eating there, or your car seat out in the parking lot. Which is another thing. Getting a space in the lot immediately outside is a once-every-5-visits thing. The product is great. The store is clean and has a happy feel. All it needs is the space to more comfortably accommodate it’s patrons.

Other than the fact the this place is constantly crawling with pre-teens chit– chatting away and glancing dirty looks at anyone who drops in over the age of 16, this place is pretty awesome. Obviously unlike some of the other reviewers, I actually like the atmosphere in the place. It’s modern and gives off a «this place is cool» vibe that clearly works. The frozen yogurt itself is pretty delicious if you ask me. I like the variety and the fact that you get to choose how much you want of each flavor. The self serve idea might be a little off to some people but not for me! If it wasn’t for the hefty price-per-ounce fees, I would go crazy on the toppings. They range from candy to cereal to fruit. Unfortunately on a budget(and not really wanting to spend $ 8 for a dessert), I tend to lightly dust my yogurt with a few chocolate chips. I’d recommend Yumz to anyone who can ignore the teens and simply enjoy a frozen yogurt.(I also secretly recommend bringing your own toppings and putting them on after you pay. Hey– it’s almost the same as bringing your own candy into a movie theater!)

My daughter recently visited Yumz with her YMCA day camp group and pronounced it «awesome» so I had to check it out for myself. In the name of research. Ahem. Anyway, when you walk in there are probably 6 – 8 different varieties of frozen yogurt in dispensers on the wall. You take a bowl, fill it with as much or as little frozen yogurt as you like and then head over to the toppings bar. They have a huge variety of toppings, including fresh fruit like raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. toppings like M&Ms, crushed Oreos, gummy worms, etc. are also available. You then add any toppings you like and head to the cashier where your bowl o’goodness is weighed and you pay 42 cents per ounce. I tried the chocolate, cake batter and cookies & cream varieties – just a bit of each. They were all very good. However, as some other reviewers indicated, there is no «tang» of yogurt in this frozen yogurt. But if you are looking for a lower fat option to, say, ice cream or frozen custard, Yumz is your place! I’m a fan, and I’ll definitely be back!

Excellent frozen yogurt! Reminded me of Yogurtland which is a good thing. I love all the fresh toppings, just hope they keep them and don’t start cutting corners and going to frozen fruit.

How can someone seriously be surprised that it was SWEET frozen yogurt? It’s not Yoplait that got stuck in a freezer, it is supposed to be like soft serve ice cream. I tried the chocolate and the raspberry/pomegranate. They had really good brownie bites I added. The rasp/pom was a little too sugary for me, but the chocolate was fantastic. My boyfriend got the peanut butter which I also sampled, and it was great too — not too sweet and very much like real peanut butter, minus the fat. I’d definitely go again and try more flavors. The décor is cute and yes, it would be a popular preteen hangout when it’s in front of the movie theater. Just take a minute to think logically if you want to go on a Saturday night.
