THISISNOTPIZZA. It’s greasy oil with a side of cheese and dough. Yuck. I was hoping that this would satisfy a small group I had over last week. No one finished their slice.

I came home starving and would typically find any thing called«Pizza» good at that point. I stopped at Grey Block for the first time on 6÷7÷16 at 8:30pm. I really don’t know how they did it, but they seriously burnt the pizza crust and felt that was okay to sell. I couldn’t see it until I got home due to the angle in the carousel for slices. It had obviously been sitting there for awhile and was really burnt on the bottom. This pizza should never have been sold. The chicken salad I ordered was unremarkable, the chicken was very dry. I used to think UCLA’s pizza in the 90’s was the worst, crust was like cardboard, but at least the topping was palatable. This was the worst pizza/salad combo I have ever experienced. Cost $ 14.

I have my local, usual places I go to, but I was driving by. This place is pretty good. I had their cheese slice and it satisfied me. I actually like the place itself too. It’s not cramped and it’s clean. I’ll be back to try the salad pizza. I think they only have 3 stars, but they are better than that…

This is my favorite pizza in Los Angeles! Being from New York, it’s hard to find a pizza that is up to my standards. But Grey Block has nailed it! And did I mention the salad pizza… MUST try! After the pepperoni of course.

I’ve had Grey Block Pizza a few times since moving to LA. The first time I had it was when my office had a few pies delivered and it was delicious! They got a few of their specialty pies, I don’t remember which kind, and their salad pizza which isn’t really my thing. This isn’t quite east coast pizza but it definitely is good! I like that you can choose the flavor crust, sauce, etc. that you want on your pizza. They also give you this tasty spicy sauce to dip your pizza in which I love even though it sets my mouth on fire. It adds a ton of flavor to it. The staff is always friendly. I’ve come in to pick up a couple of pizzas before and it’s never been late and they’ve always been attentive. They have whole pies you can order as well as individual slices if you come in. My only gripe about this place is that I feel it’s a tad bit pricey for what it is. I do enjoy the pizza every now and then, and if it were cheaper I would be coming here much more often, but it’s good pizza if you’re in the area!

Wow, I’ve eaten here many times, always good. Tonight I ordered a pizza for delivery. It came very fast — ½ hour — and was overcooked and dried out. I’m pretty sure they took one they had waiting in the display for slices, warmed it up and sent it over. Yuk.

Who wouldve thought that putting salad on a pizza crust would turn out so delicious?! They have a great selection of vegetarian pizzas, and I got 2 huge slices of pizza for under $ 10. Definitely worth a visit for casual lunch anytime!

Growing up in NY I’ve had my share of great pizza, so I think I know a thing or two about it. My job orders the specialty pizzas from this place and they are quite good. I don’t always like a ton of toppings on pizza, so my coworkers and I ordered a build your own NY pizza. Unfortunately the pizzas were very disappointing! We ordered one extra-large with Pepperoni and one half Chicken Sausage half Plain. Let’s start with the dough. It seems fresh and was cooked pretty well. It did taste a little dry but I did like the thin crust. There was not a lot of cheese nor a lot of toppings. The sauce had WAY too much oregano and possibly some thyme or sage. When I taste pizza that is overwhelmed with herbs, it reminds me of a Dominoes or Papa John’s, who try to trick you and add flavor to their pizza. Personally, that’s not real pizza and is just more typical bad LA pizza. Surprisingly just a week before I had Pieology which blows Grey Block away! Now that says a lot.

My company ordered a pretty large order of pizzas from this restaurant in honor of «National Pizza Day». I have never had pizza from this restaurant before, so I was eager to try it fro the first time. There were 3 varieties of pizza ordered… plain cheese, pepperoni, and a vegetarian one(containing feta cheese and other veggies). I ended up having one slice of each, but each slice was unimpressive. The taste was rather bland and the sauce didn’t taste fresh. The crust also had the consistency of cardboard. A few minutes after eating the pizza, I experienced a rather unpleasant surprise… my stomach began to really hurt and I immediately had to rush to the restroom. Needless to say, the visit to restroom was longer than expected and I very bad time overall in there. There was something about the pizza(perhaps the ingredients) that made me sick to my stomach(literally). I have had pizza from so many different restaurants in the past, but none have ever made me feel this way. It was borderline food poisoning. All in all, I will be advising my company to never, ever order from this restaurant in the future and also writing this review to warn others to steer clear of this place.

This review is mostly about delivery, so heed that warning. But I don’t think I’ve ever given one star before:( I called to place my delivery order(Saturday night), and I didn’t think much of it when the young lady on the phone messed up my credit card number. Even though we went through it about 3 times, maybe it was just loud in the store, although it sounded quiet to me. Eventually we got it done, and my $ 27(one small with 3 toppings) pizza order was in progress! I waited patiently, as I was thoroughly entertained by my Netflix binge. But after an hour or so, I noticed that my food hadn’t arrived. So I called the store and was told that the driver had attempted to deliver the order, and called me several times. «Poppycock,» I said! I had been sitting by the phone the entire time. I asked what number they called. Lo and behold, the poor thing who had so much trouble taking down my credit card number also messed up my phone number. She asked if I wanted them to reheat the pizza and come back… NO. I told her I wanted a new pizza and for them to come back. So after another 40 minutes or so, my order arrived. The delivery guy was courteous and without fault himself. I opened the box, and saw what appeared to be an old pizza. Now, I can’t for sure say that they reheated the pizza, but it didn’t look fresh to me. The cheese was already solid, but it didn’t matter at this point because I was quite hungry. So, I just nuked it for about 45 seconds. Finally, me and my $ 27 pizza! Here we go! Womp womp and sigh. The crust was dry, flavorless and tough. I know some of that has to do with the microwave, but whose fault was that? I can tell that a lot of effort goes into the sauce, because its flavor overpowered the rest of the pizza. Even after the nuking, the cheese didn’t get to that chewy, stringy consistency that pizza requires. Overall, just a subpar experience. And not at all worth $ 27! Maybe the trick with Grey Block is to just order their specialties, which I did not. The other reviews are really positive. I won’t be ordering from them again.

Owner contacted me and confirmed that they did overcharge me for my ½ and ½ pie. They said they would«train» the staff to make sure they do it right next time. So I appreciate that good thought and corrective action and as mentioned in my original review, I LOVE this pizza. So since mistakes can happen, I now bestow Grey Block with the 5 stars they deserve for a great pie. Block on…

Great by the slice. I love the salad pizza and if you catch them just before they make a fresh one they will do it without cheese.

Review of delivery via Eat24: Ordered a large pizza, salad and brownie. It came to $ 40, but I was starving and wanted a good meal, so I was prepared to pay the price. Came to $ 45 and change with delivery. Estimated delivery was an hour, fine, normal nowadays. I noted on my order to call my cell as the doorbell is broken– this has been no problem on my prior hundreds of orders via Eat24. Delivery guy shows up and does not call, I just happened to be by a window and see him standing by my door. I open the door and he has a pizza box(no salad, no brownies). I ask where are my salad and brownies… he says«this is all you ordered» and shows me a receipt that reads large pizza, salad and brownies! I said, no, check out this receipt. He says«I’m just the delivery guy, this is what they handed me». At this point I was regretting my generous pre-paid tip. Took the pizza in and contacted Eat24 about the missing items, they called Grey Block whom wanted to re-deliver my salad and brownies. I said okay. Since I was starving I began to eat the pizza, it was cold and meh– the sesame seed crust was interesting, but not enough to save the mediocre pizza. An hour later my salad and brownies showed up, same delivery guy who again did not call my cell… the salad was blah as was the brownie. They threw in 2 pre-packaged cookies I did not want to make up for my missing items. One star for sesame seed crust, one star cause I’m in a good mood. This joint will be closed within 6 months, should have read the reviews before I ordered!

Ordered salad pizza(online) for delivery. I requested no cheese unless vegan. Little did I know that the actually salad had cheese in it. Grey Block was kind enough to call me to ask if I wanted the salad to also be cheese free. I thought this to be incredibly good customer service. Not to mention… the pizza was delicious! The crust was super light and fluffy. The next time I order pizza will definitely be from Grey Block.

I ordered the New York pizza with sun dried tomatoes, lime chicken and extra pizza sauce. The pizza came within 30 minutes which was cool but I live down the street so not that impressive. The pizza was lukewarm. The cheese was already in the early stages of congealing. The pizza was dry and chewy. Not sure where that extra sauce I ordered went but it wasn’t on my pizza. I also ordered the cheese crust and got regular crust. My total was like 40 something bucks with the five dollar delivery charge. Oh, and my chicken was DRY and I could not tell if it was the lime one. All in all, lesson learned. Will not waste my money or calories on them again. Grey Block should change their name to GREYBLAH…

Never order delivery from here. Missing items and lazy employees made for a bad experience. Called to ask about the dressing for a salad that was ordered, only to be told that all the fixings were at the bottom of the salad. Who puts ANYTHING at the bottom of the salad. Drinks were missing and the girl that answers the phone didn’t really give a flying rats ass. When asked to refund the delivery fee, she said no because they hire a company to do the deliveries. The food is great, but the attention to detail for delivery is atrocious.

I am a fan of the pizza here and that delicious orange sauce that you can get with it. The varieties of pizza here are pretty good and its basically the same as Abbots Pizza since the owner used to be part owner of Abbots. The issue here is that this location does not have the foot traffic that Abbot Kinney has, so the pizzas sit longer, and you can taste it. Although it is still delicious for $ 4 a slice it shouldn’t taste«old». Maybe if you order a whole pizza or are lucky to get there when they just put the pizza out maybe it will be better but for now its 3 stars…

This place serves an OK slice of pizza. Stopped in for an early Sunday dinner and ate the pizza there. Ordered the BBQ chicken and salad pizza. The BBQ chicken was OK, the flavors were there and the crust was holding it all together. On par with almost any other comparable BBQ chicken pizza I’ve ever had. The salad pizza, while it looked really good in pictures, was a total disappointment. It was almost impossible to eat and was definitely missing something. The two just don’t belong together. Have a salad with your pizza, not a salad pizza. The crust seems to be the attraction here, while it was crispy and unique with the different«toppings» you could add, it was nothing to brag about unfortunately. A little too dense and filling. I have to say, the service was really good here. The employees were very friendly and checked in to make sure we were OK.

I had heard some rave reviews about this place. A few people told me it was comparable to NY pizza. I tried their famous Salad Pizza. It’s a massive slice that will set you back about $ 5. It’s not bad, but it’s not up there with NY pizza in my opinion. It is better than most pizzas in LA though. I would say check it out!

I’ve eaten a lot of NJ/NY pizza being an American Italian and growing up in New Jersey. Every time I want a pie that brings me back to my roots I’m always satisfied when I purchase an extra large plain pie. I’ve even overindulged and eaten more than half of an extra large pie in one sitting. They also make some great tasting fancy pies or as I like to call them«Designer Pie» such as «the onion»…it was pretty awesome but I go with a plain most of the time… it’s baked in an oven and made the traditional way and it’s got a nice crispy crust in spite of the water difference between the northern tri-state area and this part of town. Every time I bite into it I say to myself out loud, «that’s a damn good pie»…‘cuz it is.
