Great food and environment. Fell in love with this place in Oxford, MS and still love it here in Houston

One of my family favorites places to eat. Love their combo deals, salad with soup or soup and sandwich. Service is always good and friendly. Highly recommend.

Sick of this! Every time I order a SMALL salad they deliver a large salad. I tell them I ordered a small. They say I paid for a large. And say«oh, would you like me to return it and bring you your money back». If I were to say yes it would make me look petty and cheap to my party. And my party would feel bad not sitting around while their food got cold waiting for my replacement. Stupid question! Horrible service!!! And in reality I don’t want a trough of lettuce with nothing else in the bowl for $ 9.00!!!

Best Cesar salad I’ve ever had, my only complaint is I can’t eat Cesar salad anywhere else now. Lol. The potato soup is delish!!! Chocolate cake is so yummy, I haven’t even tried any of the other desserts. My man isn’t a pizza person at all but loves their pizzas. Can’t say enough good things about this place. We’ve never been disappointed. Great food and service.

This place was delicious beyond what my expectations for it were. They have a whole tub of roasted garlic and sweet pickles not to mention their amazing sandwiches. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a decent bite to eat.

Great spot for lunch, but be prepared for a crowd. Large, colorful salads with lots of meat and veggies! I got the cobb salad with ranch instead of bleu cheese dressing. The portion was large and filling, much better than Panera. I wish I would have ordered dressing on the side because they put too much on my salad, still good though. The unsweetened tea was very good, and not watery at all. All drinks come in a plastic cup that you can take home. It’s not BPA free though so I wouldn’t recommend reusing it more than a few times(inner hippie talking). Downsides were that there weren’t very many tables and the staff seemed very short-handed. Tables that were open weren’t bussed yet and there was only one cashier taking orders from a line of about 15 people. Salads ordered for dine-in are much larger than they are for to-go, so dine in for the best bang for your buck.

Order at the counter get a number and sit down. Food was made promptly. I had the tomato basil soup with a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. It was fresh and delightful. Just the right amount of food. The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t offer hot green tea and they didn’t have wifi. I like to study when I have my lunch. This is the reason for 4 stars.

Even though there is a Newk’s 5 minutes away from my house, I drove 40 minutes to this location to meet with friends who lived closer to this area… so I was crossing my fingers not to be disappointed. aaaannnddd … Hallelujah! I was not disappointed in the slightest! Worth the 40 minutes drive? Hm, not so much, but I was very satisfied with my order yayayay I’m glad to know there’s one close-by my house! I hope that location is just as good??? … Okay, I’m side-tracked. I ordered the Newk’s Salad — cranberries(mmm!), grapes, gorgonzola cheese, slices of chicken breast, and pecans. Amazing! Maybe a little too much dressing, but other than that, I was thoroughly happy. The portion was humongous. I probably ate ¼ of the salad and took the rest to-go. *This is not a complaint* :)

I finally tried this new place out due to everyone bragging about their soups. I must say their soups are phenomenal! BUT everybody left out the salads! The HUGEST and BEST salad I have ever tasted — and I have tried them all! The freshness is like they have their own garden in the back of the restaurant! The size is to die for! So be ready to take some home! My husband tried the pizza and was equally pleased! We will be returning again and again and again…

I want to update my review from 4 to 5 stars. I’ve tried most of their salads and have loved each one. Their Italian sandwich is by far the best sandwich I’ve ever had anywhere! We eat here at least once a week. I usually take it to-go and my order has never been incorrect. You can tell the ingredients are super fresh.

Anything you get here is delicious and relatively healthy! I tried the Newk’s Salad with chicken, the Ahi Tuna Salad and the Chicken Pesto Sandwich. The salads were delicious. Both salads were simple yet tasty and fresh! Both of them had plenty of meat which is a huge plus for me. Everyone needs their protein in salad! The condiments bar has free breadsticks and pickles!

First time here and I love the atmosphere here. Line moved quickly and the cashier was super friendly. There were all sorts of delicious things to choose from. The salads looked awesome, but I opted for the veggie pizza. $ 8 for a 10 inch pizza is a great lunch time deal. In less than 10 minutes I was served. The server used my name! My pizza was really good. Artichoke hearts, portobello mushrooms, red and yellow bells, onions, and tomatoes over a pesto base. All topped with feta! I like my crust thin and crispy, and this was thin, but not crispy. Still flavorful though. A bit greasy. But it was definitely delicious! I will absolutely be back to try the salads and sandwiches.

We stopped here on out way home into Houston from the nearby outlets. The service was quick. The foot quality was very good, and the portions were huge! We got two salads and split a bowl of soup and we couldn’t even finish. We would definitely stop there agin if we were up this way.

Newk’s was the sort of place that came around and was flying under the radar for the longest time for me. When I finally tried it out, I was not disappointed in the least. This place blows chain«healthy eating» establishments like Panera out of the water. To be frank, I avoid everything but the salad menu. However, the salads you get are by no means disappointing – they are large and the quality of the greens certainly feel fresh. I’ve had the Shrimp Remoulade more times than I can count – it’s my go-to dish there. You get actual shrimp(not the tiny salad shrimp) that are nice and firm(but cold; I’d prefer them warm, but that’s being picky), a decent amount of egg and plenty of crisp greens and tomatoes. I haven’t had a Shrimp Remoulade salad yet that has just absolutely disappointed me. My husband typically orders the half-and-half options; you can get a half sandwich, soup or salad, or even a side of mac & cheese. The sandwiches are nicely presented, and the salads are a nice portion size. The mac & cheese dish was not too bad, either. They also provide an «under 600 calorie» half-and-half menu that you can select from if you’re watching your weight. However, don’t be fooled by the idea that this place is a «healthy» alternative or establishment that some people comment about – there are a TON of diet bombs on the menu, so if you are looking to actually watch what you put in your mouth Newk’s website has a nutritional breakdown of all its meals. Also, if you do a salad, get the dressing separately, because the size of the containers they give you with the dressing in it are massive. I don’t even use half of it and there’s plenty for the salad. Warning: this place gets stupidly packed on Sundays with tons of church people and general patrons. Packed means it gets noisy too, so do not expect an intimate dining experience ever. I’d give this place 4 stars for that, but honestly that’s out of their control. The staff handle the counter lines well enough that they don’t(always) go out the door. Overall, crowds aside, Newk’s is my go-to for a hearty salad for lunch and the quality for all the times I have been has never once disappointed. This particular location(the one of few in Houston) is well-executed in their service and food preparation. Highly recommend them over Panera, Subway or any other major chain for this type of food any day.

Not going to lie I wasn’t expecting this place to be as good as it was. I got half of the pesto chicken sandwich and the pimento bacon Mac and cheese. It was SO good the bread on the sandwich was soft and toasted the chicken was shaved and baked with pesto and goat cheese! The Mac and cheese was so cheesy and good. I’ve eaten all over the U.S. I’m a major foodie and I live downtown. This place is awesome!!!

Maybe I made the wrong choices the last(and first) time I came, but I went back this afternoon looking for some healthy alternatives and my meal was both healthy and delicious, so yes, it’s possible! I got the grilled chicken sandwich and a side order of Mac and Cheese — the one with bacon to be exact. The Mac and cheese was absolutely delicious! It tasted like nacho cheese and I am the biggest sucker for nacho cheese, and the bacon bits were the perfect crunch. The grilled chicken sandwich was great too, it had lots of chicken and a hint of mustard along with it. I don’t really ever eat mustard but it matched well with the rest of the ingredients. The service was great too and it was not at all crowded when we entered the place. I will return again!

Very deli-like and a bit overpriced– I typically get the half ceasars salad with chicken. My friends say the soups are good. I’ve had the pesto chicken sandwich before which is good too. It is always crowded– guess due to location– I probably wouldn’t pick this place except to eat with co-workers and location. Think café express but smaller and not quite as good.

Another in the Panera, Corner Bakery order at the counter and get your own drink places. And it’s just as average food wise as those others. Not fabulous but not bad. A bit over priced and nothing special. But in a hurry you can grab a bite and get to the movie theater a few doors down in a jiffy. If there was a menu at the counter I sure didn’t see one. I was glad I had looked online before we arrived and already made up my mind what I wanted. I was totally disappointed in my Cobb Salad: Mixed greens, freshly grilled chicken, bacon, eggs, Gorgonzola cheese, grape tomatoes, green onions, pecans and croutons tossed with Newk’s Bleu Cheese dressing. They did sub out that nasty bleu cheese dressing for one that I liked. So that was nice. But it was NOT a Cobb Salad. It was a nice chef salady thing but did not resemble any Cobb Salad I had ever had. The bacon was way too fatty, the freshly grilled chicken was in huge pieces and if there was egg in it I didn’t find much. A Cobb Salad should NOT be mixed all up together. So to call it a Cobb Salad is an insult to Cobb Salad. Just call it a chef salad and be done with it. Rant on that over. The fire roasted tomato soup was really good. It had a nice smoky flavor to it that really tasted grilled. Note that the small is barely enough for a little app. So if you order the small bowl be sure you are getting something else or you will leave hungry. My first visit here — and I have a friend who raves on this place — was a bit of a let down. But they do have sammies and pizza I still want to try. So maybe we’ll be back again before a movie and check those out. It is what it is… a salad, Sammy and self serve place. It was a bit loud during our visit. It was packed and the food took about 10 minutes to come out.

Newk’s is exactly what their name suggests, it’s quick and its very convenient. The selection is limited to sandwiches, salads, and pizzas. Newk’s is definitely very Café Express like, in terms of the vibe and the cuisine served, just less choices. Oh! They also serve cake! Big ol’ slices of moist cake. Red Velvet, Strawberry, other unimportant flavors(because really, when there’s Red Velvet, who cares about anything else?) Food is good, service is really good and the interior is also very spacious. I ordered the five cheese pizza, which is served with a pesto sauce instead of the run of the mill marinara, and my friend had the deluxe. If you’re expecting a «supreme» pizza you’re mistaken. Icky Kalamata Olives are abundant on that pizza… Regardless, I had no real gripes about this place. Everything was just simply ok.
