Went very early in the evening for $ 5 tapas on Wednesday where there was a good assortment of items. I especially enjoyed the beef arepas(a little on the fried side), the goat cheese caramelized carrots, and the papa relleno. Atmosphere was warm, low light, if a little quiet, though Latin music was playing. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive.

Peru is known for phenomenal food… and in Peru, we have had fresh and flavourful combinations that were extremely memorable. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case here. The food is ok but not as memorable as the prices would lead you to believe it should be.

Always a great experience. Service is very attentive, even on a Saturday night. Atmosphere is relaxing. I haven’t had a bad dish here. And the live music tides it all together.

Great place for a date, food was pretty good, the server we had was loss everything she recommended was just ok, & she must have thought I gave her too much money because she never came back to say thank you. «No that was your tip». Good food poor service

Very disappointing. The food was definitely not worth price. The«top sirloin» tacos seemed to be thinly shredded and overcooked skirt steak on three mini corn tortillas, the one«Peruvian dish» was a mountain of rice coated in an excessive amount of oil with a small amount of chicken. The chips set on the table are served cold with a non-impressive green sauce dip. Shortly after eating we became sick. Overall very poor experience.

Very bad experience, poor service, we SAT for 10 minutes before anyone even brought us a menu, cold food, servers eating while serving other people, just overall not at all a good experience. would not recommend.

I tried this place after reading a review on a website of the top 10 restaurants in Cypress. I was lucky and read a Unilocal review on the way to the restaurant that there is a groupon so that saved me some money! We ordered the Paella, 8oz filet and a shredded beef dish. My wife had the Paella, I tried it and didn’t care for the rice but she thought it was ok. I thought my filet was delicious, on a side note the tacu rice and beans was delicious. The shredded beef with rice and beans that my daughter had was very good but at $ 21 seemed a bit overpriced. The bottom line is if you want to go to a restaurant where the key measurement is pretty good food with small portions at a slightly upscale dining experience than this is a good place to try. Just don’t look at it as a value as it is definitely not that. I probably won’t go back because I am not a «petite» filet type of guy. I don’t care if it costs me $ 50+ I want at a minimum a 12oz filet or a 16oz ribeye. They did cook the filet very well but they need to offer a larger steak.

Dined there last night with my wife and good friends and had a great experience. We have been to the sister restaurant a few times and always enjoyed the food. The theme I would say is Latin American and a fusion of Spanish. Some big pluses were the live music which I am a big fan of but is often too loud, here it was not. We had some of the cocktails to start that were good value at $ 10 and tasty. The starters we shared were the chorizo which was incredible, the shrimp whose sauce was incredible and we asked for the recipe it was that good. We had to ask for some more bread to mop up the sauce. We also had the fried seafood and empanadas which were also great. We had a bottle of French red and Italian white which we were both great. My wife and I both had the paella — which was perfectly cooked. Our friends had the steak which they enjoyed. So a great evening with good service, food and wine = we will be back.

Was looking in the area for good paella and decided to try Piqueo’s. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and the service is great. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the paella. The fish tacos we’re delicious, especially the sauce. They give you three but their pretty small and left me still hungry afterwards. Unfortunately the paella was completely tasteless. As my husband was eating he was weary of the mussels stating that they«tasted off». With the next bite of seafood he bit into something so hard I heard the crack of his tooth from across the table. The place has great potential but unfortunately we won’t be returning.

There was a Groupon for this restaurant and we decided to give it a try. We love Peruvian food and one place we go to is very far for us. We went on a Friday night. Couldn’t find parking since it located with other shops there. It wasn’t packed as we though. The owner was very friendly and we were told we can choose any two tapas and any two main courses regardless of the prices. For the tapas we had ceviches trio(3 different spice level) and shrimp al ajillo. The shrimps al ajillo, I can just eat this with just breads to soak up the sauce. It’s that good! We had short ribs seco and filete piqueo(grilled filet mignon). They were delis! For dessert we order mango cheesecake. It’ll be one of our favorite places to go for dinner. Without the groupon, it can be pricy. Main courses are pricy for the potion size. Overall, good place for date night and good food.

Great LATINAMERICAN food! My favorite is the chicken chicharron. I love going Wednesday and Thursday nights for their specials. Nice place for a date night out in the suburbs.

Folks, this is about as good as it gets, especially for us living in South Dallas(e.g. Spring). I love this place! The food and service is just awesome. And it isn’t just me who loves this place, the food writer at the Houston Chronicle loves Piqueo(and Mezzanote) as well since they are both on her list of top 100 restaurants in Houston. But what really makes this place special is all the fun things they do. First, they take their wine seriously. The wine list is not super long, but the personal descriptions for each selection are a nice touch. They have specials several times a week. They also host wine dinners. And one of the owners just published a book. Heck, they even will sometimes give you a discount if you forgo your cell phone for dinner. How cool is that?

I really enjoyed their food. It’s just as good as Mesanote which is right down the street. Those two restaurants are easily the best two I’ve had close to my area in Cypress.

I had a great steak with chimichurri sauce on it with black bean and rice as the side. They have great jalapeño cucumber margaritas.

Beef arepas… so good when you just want a snack. I love coming here. food is awesome. and the owners and staff are always awesome. Hidden Cypress gem… tell them I sent you TAPPAS. by the way. means small portions… so the comment below.. Is missing out on the experience of eating slowly and enjoying the company that you are with. Life is short. live love. laugh. and eat… oh and enjoy a drink or two.

I have been here a least once a year and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. I have never had peruvian food before and this was a good place to start. The Lomo Saltado is probably the only thing I get here. It’s a wonderful dish of stir fried filet mignon with onions. I like the sauce that mixes spices, soy sauce, and red wine. I might have to try it out in my own cooking. The salsa is so good yet i cannot determine what is in it. It is green, fresh and wonderful. Another plus is the way the water service works. They give you a bottle for the table so you don’t have to wait for your glass to be refilled. On some really beautiful days they open up the patio outside. I would come back here time and time again.

we went for valentine’s dinner. I was nervous because the menu was limited and it’s not your traditional«tex mex», but i shouldn’t have been because the food was DELICIOUS!!! it’s a quiet restaurant and it’s dark inside, but as soon as you get over that… it was SOOO good. we’ll definitely be back! we had the shrimp appetizer(yum!!), sea bass and angus steak. it was kind of pricey, but everything was so tasty!!! the service was great and we even spoke with one of the owner’s as she came around to meet people and check on us.

So, I’m giving this place 3 stars for the service and the ambience, but not the food. Hubby and I came here for Christmas Eve dinner. The place is very tastefully decorated and really just plain lovely inside. They were serving a limited menu, but that was fine because there were enough options that sounded good. We both really liked the green salsa that came with the chips-unfortunately that was our favorite taste of the evening. We ordered the Beef Arepas tapas as an appetizer. They were fine, but the beef a little chewy and the flavor could have been bolder. In fact, this was a problem with all our dishes-the flavors were just too muted, almost not there. I had the Lomo Saltado for an entrée-the meat was fine but the flavor was blah. Also, it came with two starches, rice and«fried potatoes,» which looked suspiciously like frozen steak fries from Kroger. Hubby got the Seafood Paella, and again, there was no flavor and way too much rice. Also, all but one of his clams was still closed. The waiter was fantastic and the bus boy kept our glasses of water full. Absolutely no complaints about the service. However, we will likely not be back-there was nothing«wrong» with the food, but there was just nothing right about it either.

I love the ambiance of Piqueo! It feels warm and sultry – perfect for a romantic date or an intimate family gathering. My family and I celebrated my parents’ anniversary lunch here on November 7th and had a lovely time. A couple of the items(such as the empanadas) are overpriced for what you get. Two small empanadas for $ 9? That’s $ 4.50 per empanada! As a latina, that’s unheard of. I’m used to some of the best empanadas I’ve eaten costing $ 2.50MAXIMUM(even that’s too high of a price…). This is just a small, but very real gripe I have with Piqueo. Otherwise, there’s plenty of pros that outweigh this con! I ordered an ensaladita to start, and really loved how fresh the greens were and how pleasantly sweet the balsamic vinaigrette was. My only complaint is that there were too few greens for $ 5. The salad is tiny and hardly counts as an appetizer, BUT it’s tasty. For my entrée, I ordered the lunch-sized portion of «lomo saltado» for $ 16. This is a dish of filet mignon stir fried in a sweet and tangy sauce with tomatoes, onions, and red peppers. It came with a side of rice and fried potatoes but I replaced the potatoes with fried yucca. Now THIS was worth the price. The meat was not as tender as I expect filet mignon to be… it was a bit too tough and others at my table agreed, but the flavor of the meat made up for it. The sauce was delicious and a perfect accompaniment to the simple white rice and yucca. The fried yucca was a taste of home for me. It was PERFECT – crispy and fibrous, just as it should be. Besides a delectable entrée, our server was incredibly friendly and we enjoyed joking around with him. It was nice to have someone with a smile on his face and a great attitude be a part of our anniversary lunch. I can’t wait to return to Piqueo on a Wednesday when they have $ 5 tapas! I will definitely feel better about paying $ 5 for two beef empanadas :)

I definitely would recommend shrimp al ajillo, beef arepas, tiradito de tuna, and ensaladita for tapas. I really liked those flavors and the peruvian corn be warned it is meaty and larger than regular corn, no added flavors so it’s just a starch for your meal. I was highly disappointed when we saw a different menu compared to their menu on the website: . I saw $ 5 tapas madness and I was ecstatic, but when we arrived their it was totally different and no $ 5 tapas. I did have a tapas craving, and I know nothing will compare to Spanish Tapas. I just needed to fill my cravings so we went in and ordered a few tapas and my hubby had the Thursday $ 18.00 special which is more like the Houston Restaurant Week Menu, although not as many selections. He had the Chicken Chicarron appetizer, filet mignon steak, and churro for dessert. Meal was fine nothing above average, good for tapas. Check it out for yourself, still good to try different things.
