Sorry but wtf? Just got here and everyone is smoking inside which sucks. Then these assholes start fist fighting by the pool tables. Good old shit hole. The tall blonde bartender is really sweet. Been here 5 minutes and it’s a shit show!

This place is a shit hole!!! I know it’s a dive bar but it seems like we got invaded by a bunch of 909 white fucking trash. I’m to old to be dealing with hard ass wanna be douche canoes!!!

Cheap beer — $ 8.75 for a pitcher of bud light! They allow smoking inside and provide ash trays. There are a bunch of fans going at all times so the smoke seems to clear quickly and wasn’t overwhelming. Beer (& maybe wine?) only but it’s cold, cheap and on draught! The pub is around the corner from cypress college. It’s definitely a dive bar, but it’s pretty cool!

THIS PLACE IS TROUBLE,

We arrived as a young couple was arguing. my husband and I tried to defuse the situation outside as the couple ran into us physically, however it didn’t work. As we tried to walk inside the bartender refused to serve us due to our connection with the argument. We explained that those were not our friends and they were gone down the street and she still refused due to the «amount of issues» this bar has. Obviously it’s not a safe place for normal individuals to grab a drink.

I like a good dive bar, but this should be classified as below dive bar. The biggest problem I have with this place is that against California law, they ALLOW SMOKING INSIDE THE BAR! Even though I’m a smoker, this is a major drawback for me. (And should be for those who don’t smoke!)

It’s a dive where you can smoke and drink a good priced pint. It’s perfect. You can mind your own business here. Service was quick and the atmosphere can soothe a weary soul. I was looking for a bar that Al Bundy would go to. I found it. There’s no tits hanging out but it’s close enough.

Geez. This place is horrible. Not a welcoming vibe. Just locals that think they’re bad ass because they drive big trucks and smoke cigarettes. I almost got in a fight in the restroom because I had to use the urinal.

An odd place that is part dive bar and part local club. Beer/​wine only I think, plus pool tables and somehow they smoke in here. Plenty of parking and a good chicken place next door. Maybe that’s why the Rooster hangs here…

I love this bar! First time was last night and ill continue going. Friendly crowd, friendly bartenders. Julie was great!
2 pool tables, darts, big variety in the jukebox, cheap beer. (Beer only bar) which is fine! You can smoke inside so if that bothers you– Don’t go.
Also the snake bites are yummy drinks! Julie had us chug em — which we were all ok with.

Definitely a HITW! The bar is behind the chicken shop in the front. Average price for drinks. There were only men in the bar, and a lot of them were smoking cigarettes (apparently its a family owned bar so this is legal). We played one game of darts and then darted ourselves. Second hand smoke, no thanks!

Sharon has the greatest personality and is super awesome. It’s a shame she only works twice a week. Best bar in cypress. Dont be scared of these other reviews. Check it our!

Dive bars at its best. Bartenders are either charming or just dolls. CHEAP beer… and it is beer only BUT what goes better with a cold one… is a cig. Yes– u may smoke inside happily. Diverse crowd. Patrons welcome the newbies happily an aren’t rude like other territorial buttheads at other dives. So do indulge in a little aaahhhh time here. Btw… I’m a regular there but I still can’t seem to remember why a few days out of the weeks there’s munchies or dinner being served… but it happens.

I would give this place 5 stars except for one thing… the smoking. They allow the patrons to smoke. I love dive bars and any place you can stop in for a cold beer without having to get all dolled up is my kind of spot. No offense to those who smoke, but just not my thing. Other than that, very friendly bartenders and cold, cold beer! I’ll be back again just maybe sit next to a non-​smoker. Btw prices are great!

Smoking is permitted inside of the bar. I guess that’s why my friends love it so much. I don’t smoke, so the one star is a given. It would’ve been tolerable if their ventilation/​ac system was working. Smoke was billowing up and I had to go out every 5 mins for fresh air. There’s nothing worse than coming home with the stench of cigs on your clothes, hair, nails & skin. My lungs were crying for mercy after just one hour of being here.
It’s a beer-​only bar that has a dart board and two pool tables. Their juke box has a wide variety of music. (even dubstep)
I can’t hate on this place too much, I just cannot stand cigarrettes. Arm yourself with a gasmask.

Seriously? So me and my buddy were on a Dive Bar expedition last night, looking for some local pubs to sit back and enjoy a cocktail or three. So we chose this one because it was close to the last one we were at. We walk through the door, and inside is your typical dive bar. Nothing special, but nothing outright wrong. Just a dive. Until I met the bartender.
A good bar experience should be about meeting new people and part of that is the bartender. Well, I can honestly say that rude doesn’t even touch it. Trying to start up a conversation, she pulled so much attitude it came off as a snarl. I don’t know if she was having a bad night or what, but it was hostile enough that we walked out. And I NEVER walk out of a bar. Not when there is Fat Tire on tap!
Very sad, I had good expectations for this place.

All I have to say is — Perfect smoking areas, cheap beer, great music with an internet juke box and JULIE. The most smokin hot quick talkin perfect beer pouring girl in the world.

Hey, this research for dive bars near my new day gig has made a turn for the better. After my 1^st stutter step stopping at the Red Fox up the street I have now found 2 worthy options: the Starting Gate and now the White Rooster.
Fellow Unilocaler Lisa Z gave me the heads up and she really nailed this place in her review. It is VERY divey in an old beat up building adjoining a broasted chicken shack (which smelled awesome, also on my Unilocal hit list) with a scary dark parking lot to greet you.
A Wednesday night 6:00ish and the bar-​stools are all taken. Wait, one left towards the end in between 2 dudes. Bartender gave a hearty greeting and my new dive bar mates were jolly sorts and filled me in on other dive options in the area and also vouched for the chicken place.
The interior is a bit shabby as well but in a comfortable mish mashie way with lots of TVs and even some chips and Doritos available. A rarity around these parts. Where I grew up bars always had munchie choices, oft times just pretzels and beer nuts but at least something to nibble whist imbibing. Why not here in SoCal? Just asking.
Whats that Ms Friendly Btender? $ 4 for a pint of Stella? Sahweeet! Red Fox charged me $ 5 for a New Castle, I’m now a fan for sure.
If you are a smoker you will love this place, if not, well you’ll need to be like me and not mind. The smoke was very thick, I believe I was the only one with out a pack in front of me.
2 decent choices discovered in 3 weeks. Not bad. I could be satisfied with those but I’m kinda getting into this personal quest.
