Just have to say, this place is awesome. Food is fantastic and well priced. If you are a craft beer aficionado, this will be a great experience. The ambiance is great and the menu is delicious, but what really makes this place so fantastic is the service. Being in the service management industry myself, I was very impressed. The servers are very knowledge, friendly and attentive. Our server Palmer was such an amazing host. This wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience and if you are in the Dallas area, you just can’t go wrong with CBD.

WOW. What a fantastic dining experience! The service staff were SO prompt, clean, hospitable. Kitchen were silently executing orders with excellent communication and style. Everything… and I mean everything was well seasoned and cooked beautifully. Great selection of local, Texas beers and wines– along with others from across the country. This place deserves 5 stars… and actually should be charging way more, and should be booked months out. Love it.

Unilocal reviews led me to this spot, when looking for dinner while downtown. Though dining alone, and a large bar area in the middle of the floor, I elected for a small table. My waitress allowed me to engage her in an unhurried conversation about the menu — e.g. what is half a pig’s head, anyway? Literally a pig’s head. Her table management was impeccable. I went with the cheese spread on bread to start, with an entrée of the enchilada. Both were comforting, and tasty. Cheese being the theme of the meal. The enchilada was ample and sufficient. I finished off with the mint chip ice cream ‘sandwich’. A sweet way to end a nice meal. Comfortable, and casual. A bit dark, and the open floor makes it a bit loud.

All I have to say is, uhhhhhhh just go and check out the pig head carnitas like EVERYBODYELSE says. Love the atmosphere and the pig head was surprisingly delicious!!! If the 5 and 6 year old kids loved it, that’s all the proof you need.

Cool little spot inside the Joule. Dropped in for cocktails and a snack around 4ish on a Saturday. There is a limited bar menu available at that hour, with some small options and a couple of larger options(e.g. a burger) if you’re needing a full meal. I ordered the pimento cheese toast, not expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and well-made it was(and it was covered with a decent amount of greens, so basically I could tell myself it was a salad). Drinks were surprisingly reasonably priced, with a French 75 costing(if I remember correctly) around $ 10(you pay $ 15 for the same cocktail at Capital Grille). Really nice ambience. Our server Eric(and everyone else, really) was friendly. I’d come back to try the full menu and have more yummy cocktails.

Definitely love this place. The pig head carnitas taco was absolutely the best. My girlfriend and I really enjoy the presentation. The house chef was very generous to make an off the menu dish for our vegan food(delicious). The good: Pig Head Carnitas Taco, House shells, salted caramel parfait dessert(I think that’s what it was), the service, and the décor The okay: the tres leches corn bread, the mussels(but I’m not a big fan of mussels) The bad: nothing really

Sean C., this one is for you! **** Celiac Friendly **** My coworker and I were wandering the streets looking for a place to have dinner and the first place we stopped at couldn’t meet my gluten free and no shellfish requirement, so the Maître D’ recommended CBD to us. Tall, blonde Rebecca was our server for the evening. If an item on the menu wasn’t GF, she could ask the chef if it could be made GF. I started with the Roasted Beets & Avocado with a house-made honey mustard vinaigrette. OMG! This dish was amazing. The avocados made it naturally creamy while the mustard gave it a kick in the pants. My main was the Green Chili Pork Enchiladas which are naturally GF by using corn tortillas. Here, the food quality went down just a hair, because the thick topping of queso fresco was on the salty side(that’s its natural state — what can you do?). However, once I pushed it aside, the enchiladas were wonderful. One would expect that a foodie restaurant like this would serve small portions. Not true! We were so stuffed that we couldn’t order dessert — and some of them sounded amazing. If I am even in Dallas again, CBD is on my list!

Holy Delicious! The Beer-Battered Fried Codd Sandwich was oh so yummy. I probably didn’t need to eat all of it, but I felt I had no choice. The melt in your mouth french fries were cooked to perfection. Some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Plus this place is in The Joule Hotel & every time I’m in that building I feel as if I’ve escaped reality.

I stopped by here for a cocktail and the chicken liver mousse for a snack. The cocktail and service was excellent. The mousse was alright – I probably wouldn’t get it again. I wish I were more hungry during my visit so I could’ve tried more of their food(the pig head carnitas looked amazing). This is definitely a place to check out if you’re looking for a classier scene. Expect to see people in their 30’s here – not a place for random college kids since the price tags are little more grown. Check out the Midnight Rambler located in the same building for a night cap.

This place had been on my list for awhile and we ended up coming here spontaneously on a Saturday night. There were no reservations to be had so we were going to sit at the bar but when we showed up, there was an opening for 2. We were seated at one of the tables against the wall and had a great view of the rest of the restaurant. Our server was great and we were always checked up on by various members of the staff. I had the butcher’s cut for my entrée but started with the queso fundido. This was an amazing appetizer. The chorizo was just the right amount and the flavors bold and strong. The fresh tortillas were the perfect accompaniment for this dish. The butcher’s cut was great and the only reason this isn’t a five start review is that it took awhile to come out. Otherwise, I will be taking out-of-towners here and would like to get the pig’s head next time with a larger party!

There’s restaurants I encounter in my «foodie» experience that I wish nothing more than to take my parents. They are super Mexican and I know they would love nothing more than to munch on a pig ear. You haven’t lived to you had menudo. Just saying. Order the pig head! I know it looks ugly and eww gross you can see the eye but my god you have not lived till you try this and the salsa is to die for! We order oysters as well which were pretty yummy. Between me and my boyfriend we devoured the head. They serve it with radishes cilantro and two salsas(green and red) as well as tortillas. The atmosphere was weird as it was pretty quite and only a couple tables on a Friday night. But I wasn’t too focus on that as the food was just so good. Random note after you’re done go to the bathroom, wash your hands and put some of the hotel lotion. I almost stole the bottle! Kidding of course ;)

Oh boy. It happened again. One of my anticipated bookmarks let me down. «Let’s do AMBIANCE for $ 600, Alex!» The dim-lit restaurant is very cozy and calming – slightly reminding me of Filament. The menu had about 18 items, which is always a delight to see. Places with novels for menus drive me bananas. The service was so-so. Raul was very mannerable and pleasant, and exceeded expectations on our requests… that is, if we could catch him. He came to our table roughly every 10 minutes. Sure, that’s not a long time but when you’re wanting to put in an order for an appetizer, it is. We started off with the fish dip. It was fish mixed with fresh herbs and crème fraiche, served alongside dill potato chips. The fish had a nice flavor, but it was VERY fishy. You have to downright love fish to adore this dish.(hey, that rhymed). The chips were a little greasy for my liking, however it did pair well with the pescado dip. After contemplating for 30 minutes, I finally«grew a pair» and ordered the Berkshire pig head. When it arrived at our table, the visual was slightly off-putting but after downing my tea thyme cocktail, I was«Ready Freddie.» The head was served carnitas style with fresh corn tortillas, two different salsas, and a pickled radish and onion medley – for taco topping. The skin appeared to be crunchy, and we were told it would taste very similar to chicharones. And indeed it did, well without the flavor of course. That one bite of skin was good enough for me. The carnitas was in need of salt and pepper as well… and it was very mushy, like it hadn’t been cooked long enough. The condiments helped some, but for $ 50, I expected more WOW in Mr. Roger’s FLAVORhood. Like all the reviews state, PLENTY of food. The head could easily feed 4. The Berkshire Pig Head was indeed an unforgettable experience that I’ll always remember. I probably won’t be back, unless I was staying at the Joule and wanted a stiff drink.

I came here with a group of 8 and we ordered 2 of the pig heads. It was delicious. The meat was flavorful and tender. As gross at it seems, the skin and fat and meat was all perfect. The sauces and the tortillas all put together was wonderful. Heaven in my mouth.

My pancakes were just very average. The omelette with chorizo was very well made. Delish. Overall amazing décor and atmosphere, very cozy. Now I have to try their dinner!

[Out-of-Towner Review] I ‘ALMOST’ enjoyed this burger as much as Au Cheval(Chicago). The simplicity of a burger that focuses on the meat, cheese, and bun is something to be celebrated. Okay, I’m jumping a head of myself here, but that’s cause that is what I vividly remember from my last meal in Dallas! We made early reservations on a Sunday evening, right before we needed to catch our flight home. It was in close proximity to where we were staying and had open space. Little did we know we’d swoon our asses off here! Most of us weren’t even super hungry, but because we had to sit on a plane during dinner time we thought it smarter to eat an early dinner anyways. This restaurant is exactly something you’d see in SF or any other big city. The vibe, the decorations, the hipsterness. It all works! One friend started with the Chicken Liver Mousse, so of course we all tried it. It was really good, even though I was hugely skeptical of the pepper jelly on the top. But it actually was kind of sweet, with a kick. I could have done without it, but I wasn’t mad at it. Two of us ordered the TX Grass Fed Cheeseburger, which is essentially their take on a Double Double. The rest of the fellas ordered the Berkshire Head Carnitas with a side of hand cut fries. The Berkshire Head Carnitas sells out most nights, but since we were eating like the elderly they were able to order one. I’d say it is a CBD delicacy. It is plated gorgeously(sorry Vegans or Veggies), but it is a perfectly fried pig head. The server is quite extensive in his details on how to eat the head, he reminded us of good meat behind the eyes(ugh). I took a few bites to try this coveted dish and I was amazed. It comes with tortillas and a radish salsa mixture. Even 3.5 grown men couldn’t finish eating this. I say a half, because one had already eaten his burger and still went to town on the pig head. I couldn’t have asked for a better meal to remember the BIG D!

While in Dallas for work, we made a reservation for 10 of us for dinner. Upon entering, I was welcomed by a beautifully appointed restaurant but an incompetent host station. The 2 young guys working didn’t know what they were doing and were very disorganized. We were a little early so we had a drink at the bar. The bartenders were a little snooty and gave some attitude when my co workers asked questions of the menu. I decided upon a $ 14 glass of Pinot noir and it was wonderfully smooth. Once seated, we ordered 2 of the pig heads for an appetizer. The presentation was wonderful but full of fat. You really had to dig to find the meat and not worth the $ 50/head price tag. We ordered a few other appetizers and the pimento cheese toast was exceptional. My French onion soup was legit but nothing I haven’t had elsewhere. For my main meal I ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were succulent but the hot sauce doused on them was too sweet for my liking. For dessert we ordered the sweet potato bread pudding and it was way too sweet. 2 bites was enough. Would I return? Probably not. There are other restaurants in the area that looked wonderful that I would try instead.

I recently came here for dinner with a friend. We started with the chicken liver mousse, which was topped with a layer of pepper jelly and served with a side of sourdough toast. This was yummy. Totally recommend it for you liver lovers. :) My friend and I both ordered the cheeseburger without the cheese for our entrees. It was a Friday night, and a little indulgence felt appropriate after a long work week. The burger, however, was a disappointment. The patty was overcooked and dry. The bun was unremarkable. I think you have to try really hard to make a burger taste anything less than delicious. This was unfortunately one such case. On the bright side, the yellow sauce that came with the burger and the fries I ordered as a side were both good. For dessert, we had the bourbon chocolate pudding, which was served with pieces of white chocolate granola. The pudding was very delicious and the granola was okay. On a miscellaneous note, my friend thought it was odd that the pudding was served in a narrow glass with a large spoon. I thought he had a point. I’ve only had salads on my previous visits to CBD, and they were pretty good(as salads go). After this disappointing hamburger experience though, I’ll have to give CBD three stars, subject to upgrade if I return and have a better experience.

Wow. This is a wonderful Jewel inside the Joule hotel. Christian was our waiter at the bar and after an ice cold martini we ordered a burger and shrimp and grits. Christian took us through the whole menu at our request and he knew it all inside and out!!! We will be back because there are more yummy things to try. My burger was delicious — the homemade pickles and French fries were the bomb. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

This place is located inside a hotel. Hard to find unless you ask someone. But if you walk in to the hotel, it’s the first place on your left. A bit tricky. Classy décor. Came during brunch. It was pretty empty, but I liked the environment a lot. Had the black eyed pea hummus, which was really good with the bread. Also had the Kale and Goat Cheese Quiche, which was really good. Never knew what a Quiche was until I tried it here. Very interesting. It’s like a pie almost. Service was good. Waiters came to check around pretty often. Water gets refilled. Would come back.
