One of our favorite bars in town. Drinks are a bit expensive, but the happy hour takes the edge off and the ambiance of the place is the greatest. The music is 40s-70s and they have vinyl nights, gogo dancers on occasion, and a very lowkey atmosphere. The staff is friendly and knows what they’re talking about, and their drink selections are highly curated. I just wish they had more than a coupe kinds of vodka– it’s the forgotten spirit at this bar ;)

Love it. Fancy but casual. Small but just right. Having a bourbon with some apple something. Lol. Sticky with whiskey on the rocks. I’m being a big girl tonight

This place was great! Free valet parking at a swanky hotel. The drinks were pricey but we wanted a downtown Dallas experience so it was to be expected. The bartenders are amazing! The music doesn’t make you want to dance they play nothing from this decade but it keeps you entertained enough for the setting. The limited food options for the upstairs restaurant was amazing! I had the Burger my friend tr grill cheese. It was all yummy! Cant wait to come back!

This bar is exactly the kind of experience I hoped for out of Dallas. The Midnight Rambler(MR) carries all of the good aspects of fancy without all the pompous attitude. Walking in through the hotel and down the stairs is a great prelude to the sense of enjoying an underground secret that comes with this place. Beautifully designed atmosphere with a fantastic staff and bartenders that mixed up a good old fashioned and gold rush. Two bars, tables, and a couched area perfect for larger reservations. My only complaint was when we switched from the bar to a nearby booth and the music was too loud to speak to those across table due to the speakers being just above the booths. MR would be great for a few casual drinks & catching up with old friends. Loud enough to be rambunctious, but swanky enough to let out your Don Draper.

If I lived in Dallas, this would be my watering hole. The bartenders are great, knowledgable, and quick. And the drinks are perfect. The ambiance is warm, rich, and cool. Try it. You will love it.

Music is a little loud and the wait staff is hipster as hell, but you can’t argue with the drinks and atmosphere. They really do well with off-menu cocktails, but they’re menu is succinct and well planned. Get here early if you want a seat.

WTF happened to the great cocktail bar? Now, it’s just another wanna be hipster bar with sugary drinks with music to loud for conversation. Avoid.

What a fun find! I had never been here before and I highly recommend this cocktail bar to any visitor looking for a great time or Dallasite who was born and raised here(like myself). The drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was great. It had a very hip 60s/70s vibe going for it. I was only there for an hour and half, but every song they played was something my parents would have listened to. Which is such a nice change of pace in my opinion. It allows for fun dancing for all types and ages of people. The drinks are pricey, but you are paying for the venue and fun time. I saw people eating down there before the night go too rowdy(around like 9:30pm). I assume they get it from the restaurant upstairs in the hotel. My only complaint(and this is totally my opinion) is that it is friggin loud. The music is just straight up deafening, but hey… I still had a great time. I just suggest you either love yelling in each other’s ears or you head somewhere else to chat.

The atmosphere is awesome here. But then again, I’ve never been here on a Friday or Saturday night. I usually go Sunday nights or weekday evenings and it’s great to have people in there but not too many. The bartenders were so helpful in choosing drinks for me. The drinks are really great! A bit pricey, but hey what can you expect with it being in the Joule hotel? As far as what reviewers have said about underage type people in here: Nothing I noticed but honestly anywhere you go in Dallas or in the U.S. there are occasionally underage drinkers in bars(fake ids? Who knows) However, unless you see their ID, how do you know they’re underage? I have several friends in their late 20s/early 30s who I swear look 18 still! Anyways, end of the day, if you want a «low-key» while still dressed nicely type of place to feel classy, this is an awesome place. Just be prepared to pay $ 12+ per drink. And hey, the bathrooms are nice so that’s another plus ;-P

Really cool spot for after dinner drinks or a bar hopping adventure, but it’s too loud! Came with a friend on a Saturday night and like another reviewer said, our conversation was basically yelling«WHAT? WHATDIDYOUSAY? HUH?» Besides that, I love the vibe and how the crowd is mixed with people wearing casual to fancy attire from events at the Joule. Drinks were pretty good except for their psychedelic drink. I found myself trying to be different and order something«wild» as the bartender called it, but it was gross. I’ll stick to the classics next time.

You’re trying too hard, and it shows. Trotted out every hipster cliché in the book, from the album cover art to the Silver-dipped light bulbs. Luckily a well made drink and a helpful barmaid/waitress were able to pull it all together. C+

I don’t think I was properly prepared for this bar. When I first heard of this, I was expecting something more speakeasy and quiet cool where people dress nice. It is more like the average bar but with better décor. The energy is like any other bar. Loud, dark, and trendy casual. There is a covered stage — presumably where weekend bands play — and open booths. The bar looks as though you belong in a secret club, but then takes the feeling away when you see barely legal kids wear crochet shorts and tees. So, I haven’t decided if I’m a fan just yet. However, I AM a fan of their Cuban sandwiches and Manhattans. Those two ensures my return.

Go into joule, take immediate left down the stairs. Very hidden Veryyy cool ambiance. They do a good job with all the diff curtains to keep the vibe going. THe drinks are amazingggggg. Love the more improved bergamot gin drink. Will be back for that bad boy again. Food is really good but on the pricey side. It’s from cbd and limited menu. Will be back!

This jem of a bar is the epitome of dark, cool and chic! When JR and I decided, lets go for a spontaneous night out! He told me, look for mixology bars. Sure enough, Unilocal led us to Midnight Rambler for a night we almost couldn’t remember, haha! ;) MR is located INSIDE the Joule Hotel, and down a small flight of stairs, you’ll find a bar that takes you back to the 30’s. We came on a Sunday night, sat at the bar for a couple of hours, I had a couple of old fashioneds, and JR had a couple of Sazeracs. Our bartender(not sure of her name, but we did learn that she is half japanese, half filipino! cool chick.) was very knowledgable, friendly & generous ;) We also ordered a charcuterie board which was okay, nothing to really rave about. It came with a few pieces of toast, andouille sausage with a horse radish spread, pimento cheese, lamb prosciutto?, some pickled veggies that i wish i had more of! They were so good! I love pickled anything! It also says on the menu that the food is provided by CBD provisions, which is pretty cool. Overall I really enjoyed my time here and hope to be back for more cocktails & conversation. The bartenders really know what they’re doing here. I trust ‘em! :)

If you are looking for a late night snack this place is great. The food comes from CBD provisions upstairs and even simple fare like grilled cheese was superb. The bar tenders were very knowledgeable. They could make sophisticated drinks to have educated conversations on the merits of various whiskey they carried. Great place for a quiet drink or late bite !

I picked the Midnight Rambler for birthday drinks based on the description and reviews of a speakeasy atmosphere with a more mellow and laidback vibe. Maybe Saturday night wasn’t the best night to experience that. We had no trouble pulling up in front of the Joule for free valet parking. Valet guys were super nice and didn’t treat my casually dressed group any different than the couples wearing gala attire. Door to the Midnight Rambler was not hard to find — directly to the left as soon as you enter the hotel. We ventured down the stairs and the first thing I heard was MC Hammer. Really loudly. Not really what I was expecting. The bar looked packed and surprisingly, when we asked for a table for 4 at the hostess stand, we were immediately taken to a booth and seated. It took a few minutes for someone to come by with water, and he did not offer to take our order. The bar is decorated in a fun way and interesting to look at. We people watched after looking over the menu — it was definitely a hipster, young dallas nightlife vibe. There also appeared to be a wedding party trickling in with glowlight necklaces and such. Close to 10 minutes after we were seated, a server came by to take our drink orders. It would have been nice to have a drink sooner. I ordered the Rosay Rose, a sparkling cocktail, which was delicious and not weak. The rest of my party ordered beer. The conversation at our table consisted mostly of yelling and«WHAT?» due to the blaring music, so we decided to take our leave after one drink. A fine bar with good drinks but at least Saturday night has about the same vibe as any other crowded bar.

I absolutely love the vibe of this place. First of all, it is located inside of the Joule. The entrance is just past the door, so you don’t have to walk through the lobby. You go down their retro wall papered staircase to a downstairs lounge that looks like it is straight out of the 1930s era. It’s intimate, yet plenty of bar seating and a lounge area in the back. The décor is sexy with dim lighting, and great music. The bartenders are outgoing and friendly and were dressed the part. I loved watching them mix different drinks. We were there on a Sunday where there is special pricing around the $ 8 range on some drinks, however this would be a great spot to go on the weekends as well. Of course street parking is probably easier on a non-weekend evening, but there are garaged througout the area, or you can valet at the hotel entrance. There is a small menu from CBD Provisions next door if you are hungry. This would be a great place to bring friends for a downtown cocktail experience.

Another great bar has been added to the Dallas cocktail scene! I came here Saturday night with friends and was immediately impressed by the décor, lighting and ambiance. Basically, it is everything you had hoped for in a downtown Dallas bar but had not received. It is mysterious yet sophisticated with its’ midcentury modern design, dark lightening, and art deco styling throughout. Aside from the great atmosphere you will find that the layout is very accommodating with seats situated around the bar and numerous tables throughout(yes you can bring a group!). My friends and I were lucky enough to grab three seats at the bar with drink orders almost immediately taken! I thought for being a rather new cocktail bar that the service was great! Our bartender not only took our orders right away but was quick to offer any suggestions on what to get. Feeling hungry? Small bites are provided by CBD Provisions(another great establishment!).

Imagine me as an aged Goldilocks hipster seeking a bar in downtown Dallas proper at night midweek. Green Door Public House — too empty City Tavern — too dirty Union Park — too cheesy and dull Dakotas — too tired Midnight Rambler — just right Studded light bulbs trail down to a realized cellar marked in an electrifying neon labeled«cocktails». Black stark walls with a white geometric line circuit grid like a sketch to a new galaxy frontier suspends a sexy fun mystery as magical music and happy voices rich in conversation beckon. A dark narrow hallway bulb glowing wall to ceiling like a 1920’s movie marquee mazes to a wonderful speakeasy like tavern with numerous cozy and private booths, a dual turntable DJ cubby and a wall of unusual liquors. The stylishly dressed-down handsome thirty something urban crowd was polite and able to hold a conversation, with enough sexy brush up againsts to keep it interesting but not obnoxious. Wines start at $ 8 and the menu is simple and affordable with a grilled eggplant sandwich $ 12, hummus $ 8 and a charcuterie plate $ 14. Thursday’s and Sunday’s have DJs spinning on the turntables, where the manager assured me nothing is played newer than 1977. This bar is glamorous but relaxed enough where I felt spoiled and amped. The hip boutique Joule hotel above guarantees a solid contingent of saavy out of towners. I was surprised how beautiful and livable this new bar is, and I’m blessed to live a 3 minute walk away.
