GABE’S ISCOMINGBACK!!! Hey fellow Gabe’s lovers! I too am saddened by the closing of Gabe’s! I had the opportunity to speak to him via Unilocal.Apparently the landlord wanted to raise his rent by $ 6000 a month!!! I can’t blame him for not agreeing to that! Good news is that he is quickly securing another location and will be re-opening soon! Stay Tuned! Gabe promised to keep me posted because I am having QUESOWITHDRAWLS! I’ll keep my fellow Unilocalers informed here as well!

What a find! Gabe’s is not to be missed if you are looking for a delicious and authentic Mexican meal. We had the Molcajete which is a a big platter of grilled chicken, flank steak, sausage and nopalitas. At the bottom of the platter was a cheesy mixture of grilled onion, jalapeño and the most delicious chorizo. This generous dish was more than enough for the two of us. We left room for a serving of coconut ice cream which is served in a coconut shell. This ice cream was hands down the bed coconut ice cream I have ever experienced. Can’t wait to return!

My husband and I have been here several times now and we love it for both breakfast and dinner. My husband can’t stop getting the street tacos they have been great. I have had flautas, fajita trio and street tacos and I thought all of it was very good. We both loved breakfast because what is better than good frijoles, eggs and tortillas!!! Queso is a must! It is your normal easy to get to Mexican joint! Waitress have been a little slow especially since we have at times been one of two or three tables but, it has gotten better. I love and will be back!!!

We had the molcajete. Includes chicken, steak, chorizo, shrimp and cactus. Great blend of flavors. Large enough for 2 people to split. Also had the queso fundido which is excellent if you like cheese and chorizo. Yum!

Don’t let the store front façade fool you, there’s a tantalizing array of flavor waiting to be discovered by your tastebuds. Had the steak tacos wow! Flavor and spice. Highly recommend

I had never heard of Gabe’s, but was told that it was decent Mexican food and I really wanted chips and salsa and a margarita. One out of two ain’t bad. They do not serve alcohol, unfortunately. The sweet tea was fresh and delicious, though. The cops were super fresh and tasty. The salsa Verde was divine, in my opinion. It was creamy and really spicy. FABULOUS! I ordered the Fundido as an appetizer — it was great! I was full by the time my chicken quesadillas arrived, but I took one bite before packing them up and they were good. I saw other reviews with complaints about the wait staff, but our waitress was very sweet. She didn’t seem super confident, but she did a good job. All in all, our experience was ok, but I would go back if only for the salsa Verde. :)

Decided to try Gabe’s for 3 reasons: 1. 4 star overall reviews 2. 3 minutes from my hotel 3. I’m a sucker for Mexican food, and also always looking for that non-corporate hidden gem. This, unfortunately for me, was not that hidden gem. But, I digress, as outlined in my review of Twin Peaks, I have a tendency to take issue with waitresses who are young giggly girls who pay more attention to gossiping loudly amongst each other than, oh I don’t know, wiping a table, paying attention to the patrons perhaps… I know, silly me. Perhaps if there were some music or something in the background it would have helped, but on this slow Monday night, it was me, a couple at a corner table, and two waitresses, whose loud voices resonated throughout the small restaurant with no other sound to drown them out. Oh, by the way, no alcohol license, so if you’re looking to wash your enchiladas, fajitas or street tacos down with a cold cerveza or margarita, it’s not happening here. But we’re here to talk about food, really I suppose. I’m all about well seasoned, and spicier than average food, but this thick green sauce is unlike any other I’ve ever had, and that’s not a compliment. I couldn’t really put my finger on what it’s got in it, it seems like there might actually be some horseradish in it. I didn’t care for it. Call me crazy, but I like my green sauce to taste more like tomatillos. Or even the green avocado sauce, but not this. The regular tomato salsa was on the watery side. I ordered the street tacos, beef and chicken. Both meats were tough and somewhat dry. 4 tacos, and they come with finely diced lettuce and grilled onions. The good news is that I wasn’t hungry anymore when I left and it cost me 6 bucks plus tip. Next!

It was OK! Have been looking for authentic mexican for 3years here in Dallas. Sorry to say we are still looking. We had the Mocajeta and it was ok. The meAt was overlooked and cactus not tender. Our queso was hard as a rock in no time. The chips are not homemade hot like we wanted. The salsa is OK. Needless to say the only reason I would go back would be to try the street tacos, they may be the real deal. I ordered items that never came so they took it off the bill. Although they may have some awesome things, I did not get to experience them. The little one had a corn dog and fries and the fries were still very raw. Maybe you’ll have better luck like so many others but I wouldn’t even call this good TexMex. Continuing the quest for authentic Mexican food.

Visited on a Sunday morning and could order anything on the menu Queso was delicious as well as the green salsa which is creamy; likely pureed jalapeño with great kick. The red salsa was rather watery so we dumped it into the queso. We had combo fajitas and chicken street tacos. Glad they cut the meat into bite sizes so we could attack quickly! Great cozy family restaurant with very reasonable prices and diverse menu. Definitely a do-over is due!

I’m not local to Plano and was a little wary of Gabe’s when we walked in because it’s small place I. The middle of a strip mall. I stayed because I’d seen some good reviews on Unilocal and I’m so glad we did! The food is fantastic and very reasonably priced. Better than that, I came in with a messy toddler and the waitress was so kind and attentive. Our drinks stayed full, when our son dropped his silverware on the floor she was immediately over with a new one, and we didn’t have to wait for the check when the meal was finished. The owner also came out to get our feedback and really seemed like he cared about running the best restaurant he can. If you want the hustle and bustle of a chain restaurant go some place else, but if you want good(real mexican) food and great service, give Gabe’s a try.

My sister took me here after an event in dallas. We were hungry. The place was kind of empty but that doesn’t scare me off. We started off with their queso and it was so freaking good. The queso was creamy and flavorful. The chips were are very fresh and I loved their spicy salsa. I ordered the al pastor tacos as my meal. They do not skimp on the meats as my tacos were really food. The pork was really flavorful. I was able to try beef tacos too and it was so good. I really enjoyed my meal here and can’t wait to go back when I am on this side of town again. I need the twindian to take me here again! HEHEHE

First visit prompted by Groupon coupon Sun for lunch Feb 2015. Prompt seating and service. We got the flautas and quesadilla which were served very hot. BTW: the green salsa is very spicy so a little goes along way. The owner stopped by to chat which was very friendly. He explained they have only been open five months.

I would drive by this place constantly and wondered what it was. I was in the mood for a salad and called this restaurant and asked if they had it on their menu. I ordered the beef fajita taco salad. This place is cheap and decent!!! This place is a hole in the wall, but the food was good. I can’t wait to come back to try more items. Update: their queso is a blanco queso which is fantastic. Their chips are fresh, and their spicy salsa has a nice kick to it. I ordered their fajita beef street tacos, and I love the way the beef was seasoned. My sister ordered the el pastor tacos, and they were also really good. The staff is friendly here. So far, I’ve been impressed.

Gabe’s, where have you been all my life? I stopped by for breakfast this morning. Had the migas with a side of bacon, refried beans and tortillas, all for less than five bucks! Food was really fresh and hot. Salsa is homemade and fresh… green sauce has some kick. Took a while to get the food, but I won’t count off for that. I was the first person in there this morning, and the food was worth the wait. Definitely recommended!

Very nice little hole in the wall place! Went for lunch with my team from work and we had a great time! I ordered the tostada and at first I thought it was small. The flavor makes up for that though. It is also very filling. The service was very kind and took a little extra time for those of us who needed to look through the huge menu. All in all a very good weekday lunch spot that won’t cost an arm and a leg!!!

Ate there on Friday night. I believe it’s restaurant number seven in that retail space. However, this one is good. We had the fajitas with shrimp chicken and beef. It was all very flavorful and did not taste like everybody else’s Tex-Mex. The beef was marinated and had a great flavor. I would add sour cream and guacamole to the accompanying items. They were conspicuously absent. Their green salsa is flavorful… and hotter than i could stand. You like hot, thats YOUR dish ! AND, last but not least, FREEBEER !!! I guess until they get their liquor license. But for now.
