Tried this place tonight for dinner, and felt compelled to write a review. Ambiance was ok. Service was mediocre. We ordered wine, which took forever to be served. As an appetizer we ordered the veggie sambosa. For $ 8 we got two little puff pastry turnovers with no filling in it. For entrees we ordered the salmon and quabili palao. Salmon was obviously frozen and overcooked. The lamb was actually pretty good. Overall, this place was fair but not worth going out of your way for.

Rooftops being closed are the worst! It was a beautiful day and we had to just sit outside down below. I had a cardamom spice martinis and it was delicious and strong! The friend had some wine and the chicken kebabs. I had the salmon kebabs and we both liked it well. My fish was quite dry and overcooked, but the accouterments were pleasant and I generally enjoyed it. I’d definitely go back.

Stopped by here to chill on the rooftop bar. It was on a Saturday around 4:30, beautiful day so wanted to sit on a patio and HG supply was super packed. We pretty much had the roof top to ourselves. They have a bar that serves bottles/can beers(few options for domestic, craft/etc) and also mix drinks. They have happy hour on Saturday for a while so that was nice. Bartenders were friendly. Nice place to enjoy a drink on a rooftop.

Came to the rooftop one night for a bar hopping kind of evening. The ambiance here is over all pleasant but semi confusing. There is a beautiful fire pit in one corner, the bar in another area a bit set back and then these very large, long tables and hard benches and some lights strung above. It was nice that it wasn’t overly crowded and I could talk without yelling. The bar isn’t stocked very well. The bartender was very nice and hospitable and apologized to the people in front of me for having to go downstairs to get an ingredient. Then when I ordered my Malibu and pineapple juice and he had to go rummaging in the back for the juice. The drink was tasty and on par in regards to pricing.

Nora Rooftop: same feel as HG rooftop for happy hour with less crowds and better prices. I’m told they’ll have food up here by next week. I’ll be back when they do.

Besides wanting to name one my future daughters Nora(even though it’s currently #49 in America on and I don’t need my child to have every other kid’s name) I’ve wanted to try this place for a while. I don’t know if it was just too early, the fact that it was Easter, or the fact that they might not usually do brunch, but service wasn’t super attentive. We had to wave a few people over to figure out when we could grab food, order drinks, and overall, be acknowledged. Most of the food was on par. I’ve had better pita bread and hummus. Standout dishes were the cucumber salad, kofta chalao, and sabzi chalao. Chicken was dry. Beef was a tad stringy. I’m glad I tried it out, but I’m not convinced I need to go back. Mimosas $ 4. Bloody Marys $ 7. Everything else $ 10+.

This place is very good. Have yet to have a bad dish. Nora Salad — excellent. Same of the Shrimp Salad. Try the Mantoo. Great Afghan food is delicious and this is great. All the grilled meats are tasty. And the hummus is very good. You will not have a bad meal here.

Kachalo Chalao is warm, spicy and rich. I got the vegetarian option with potatoes and loved every bite as the warmth layered itself. My boyfriend ordered the Qabili Palao — spicy rice with soft warm raisins and carrots to sweeten things up. He got chicken with his Palao and commented on how tender the chicken was. Steven was our waiter and he was very professional, informative and courteous. The overall vibe of the restaurant is lovely. The lights are warm and low, the tables are clean and white and the art installations are minimal and natural. This is one of the most underrated restaurants in Dallas.

Amazing! Get the lamb korma over the chicken korma. It’s SO worth the additional $ 4. The flavor of the dish contains a complex culmination of flavors – hitting spicy, savory, & sweet notes – and the lamb was very tender. Moshe is a very sweet waiter; he was kind, considerate, and very attentive of his guests.

Nora was okay. The ambiance was nice and the drinks were good but that’s about it. I had a Nora Margarita which was tasty but could’ve used a little more sweet to balance out all the tequila but it was good. Had the ribeye shesh-kebab medium rare. The presentation was great, with a awesome rice and even a little sampler portion of lamb stew donee could trying. There was also a delicious looking tomato salad with yoghurt sauce. Unfortunately, the steak was cooked beyond well done so I opted to send it back to be remade(it was 27 bucks). When it came back, I guess I angered th chef as all I got back was rice and meat and one tomato wedge. The second kebab was cooked perfectly, but it was not seasoned at all. Very disappointing. The highlight of the meal was the saffron rice. That’s pretty sad considering I paid 78 dollars for a meal for one(including alcohol and tip). The server was very nice, but overall the service was slow and nothing memorable. It’s a decent night out place but I will not return.

Food was cold, the salad was as big as your fist. it just wasn’t as i expected based on all the reviews i read. The one star i gave is just for the décor.

I ordered Turkish coffee and it tasted like crap they should not put things on their menu if they can’t make it The manager was just floating around and the waitresses could learn on what they ordering

I just celebrated my birthday there this past w/e. This place was extremely accommodating: they allowed us to bring a cake(no additional charge), stayed open late and allowed a last minute booking. Matt is a great owner. His restaurant offers tons of recommendations w/exceptional food and great cocktails. The service was exceptional. Thanks for a great celebration. I/we will be back

I love food. My pops loves food. We eat lots of food. We eat lots of good food. We know what good value is. We know what bad value is. We ventured to Nora after a day of drinking at HG Sply Co. Everybody in a good mood, everybody ready to chow down. I’ll keep the story short. We get to Nora around 6pm. It is rather empty at this point, patrons slowly coming in. Service was far from spectacular, got a pretty ambivalent server that didn’t know anything about the menu or at least didn’t care to offer suggestions. That’s fine, we’ll stick with what Nora sells the most of, right? Talk about a let down. For $ 25, we ordered the Qabili Palao. We received a plain plate of rice with dried chicken stir-fried into it and some pineapple chunks. What a bore. No bread or naan to come with it, no dipping sauces, and just generally poorly plated. I was rather embarrassed myself after talking about the Unilocal reviews to the group. Everybody left pretty dissatisfied with a big bill and a half-empty stomach. Unilocal doesn’t let me down often, but it did this time and I am majorly bummed! For this price range, I would suggest pretty much any other restaurants in Deep Ellum, Greenville Ave, Uptown, Bishop Arts District, Restaurant Row in Addison. Seriously — there are endless better options in this range. Hit up Kenny’s Woodfired Grill if you want good food. Come onnnn maaaaaan!(Charles Barkley once said)

Is it possible to have a bad experience at a restaurant while on a date you still consider a good experience? Unfortunately, Nora proved that this rare feat was in fact possible. I visited Nora with my now-girlfriend, hoping for a romantic evening. In an odd coincidence, several of her friends were also dining at Nora that same night. When I arrived, my girlfriend and I were promptly seated and ordered wine and appetizers. Everything started off well, and the server was polite and helpful. Unfortunately, things began to decline from there. I’m not sure what was going on, but there was some kind of tension between the manager(or possibly owner, I’m not sure about the exact titles) and our server. There were several hushed discussions going on at the bar, where it was clear that they were upset at each other or arguing about something. The restaurant was not busy, so this odd vibe was hard not to notice. When my girlfriend’s friends arrived, they picked up on the same atmosphere. The food was good, but I believe it was overpriced for the level of taste and quality. In addition, the server forgot my drink order twice, meaning I had to ask for the same cocktail three times. This caused problems with the bill later. I think the server was distracted by whatever drama was going on with the manager, so I’m hesitant to be too hard on him. Overall, the experience was just strange and not worth the money. I had a great time with my girlfriend and her friends, but that was more from the company than anything the restaurant did the help the situation. I cannot recommend Nora, nor will I return for another visit.

Nora Restaurant has so much to offer. Even if you don’t have time for dinner, but need a drink, the stunning bar can easily deliver an original cocktail, like«Nora’s Margarita». I highly recommend starting a dinner off with their Garlic Shrimp. The only bad thing about this appetizer is that it only comes with three shrimp. The tangy shrimp, herbs, and yogurt are so delicious and can actually be mixed as a mini salad for one person since there isn’t an even number for two people to share. The Chicken Korma is amazing. The chicken is so tender and juicy smothered in that tomato curry styled sauce with rice. I wish the waiters would bring enough rice so that we wouldn’t have to keep asking for more to go along with our entrees. My bf ordered the Braised Lamb Shank and he was not impressed at all. The lamb was full of fat, making it hard to eat it with satisfaction. So, I would stay away from this dish. I can’t wait to visit Nora’s again to try some of the other appetizing looking options!

Dining here was a wonderful experience! They have a wonderful wine and drink selection, as well as an exquisitely detailed menu. The food was exotic and rich, with wonderful, different flavors. The mantoo was life changing! A must try. Before or after you eat, go have a drink on the rooftop patio. It has a relaxing ambiance and a nice view. My only warning is that it is a bit pricey. But, a fun place for special occasions or date night!
