Steak Mate Grill

I ordered online at 7:53 p.m. to have the food delivered. The estimated wait time was 45 – 60 minutes. A little after an hour passed, I requested an update and was told the food was on the way. I was told the delay was due to an issue in the kitchen. No biggie — things happen. Then 20 minutes later I called to request a status since my food was supposedly «on the way» before. I was then told there was a lot of construction and the roads were bad, but my food was on the way. Another 20 minutes pass and still no delivery. After waiting 1 hour 45 minutes, I cancelled the order. Then, 20 minutes AFTER the cancellation the delivery guy appeared. I refused the delivery since it was now after 10:05 p.m. The driver said he was stuck in traffic, but the restaurant never called him to let him know the order had been cancelled.

Sometimes a good meal is just about getting some food in efficiently. Way too many hours on the road, I pulled into Grapevine Texas. The last 2+ hours, I hadn’t broken 20 mph. Tired, frustrated and seeing little black spots from too much caffeine and too little calories, I got to the hotel, and, knowing that I was too tired to go any farther in the car, I grabbed the delivery menus. Pizza, (of course) Chinese, (duh) and this place. Not eating grains limits me a lot, so I ordered up a NY strip w the works, and 25 minutes later was chowing down on not the best steak I ever ate, but perhaps the most welcome. The delivery man was merry, and the real standout was the fellow who took my order– Scott. I was definitely less than my usual charming self, and he was patient, gracious and to be honest, comforting. Not many restaurants prioritize customer service, but this one obviously does.
The salad was standard, the steak was cooked as I ordered, everything was well packed to keep to temperature. The dining experience, when you use a restaurant is often about the people and these folks are exceptional.

My review here is based on having food delivered from this restaurant via a third-​party provider several different times. The food I’ve order has always been pretty tasty.
One time, I did order a steak cooked medium-​rare, that was more on the rare side and required some heating at home to the desired temperature. Care is taken to try to keep the items as warm as possible for delivery.
The chef salad is also a excellent selection to pair with the steak. The salad is huge, and I usually can save part of it for another meal.
One of the better features is that the prices at this place are outrageously inexpensive. Given its concept and the cheap prices, I think the food is on par with what you are paying.

After arriving to my hotel late in the evening and tired, I ordered from here. They were very casual on the phone, which wasn’t a bad thing. Flyer quotes 45 minutes. After an hour I called them and they said he’s on the way. Near the 2 hour mark, I cancelled the order. About 5 minutes later the delivery guy arrived but I was so angry that I wouldn’t accept it.

I would love to write a review on this restaurant, I really would. Except that they never brought me my food.
I’d been feeling under the weather but really wanted a steak, so I decided to order in. I called, placed my order, gave my address, and then gave directions to my place because they weren’t familiar with the location in Dallas (University Park). I asked if it was outside their delivery area and they said no, so I gave them my credit card number and sat down to wait the requisite 45 minutes.
38 minutes later I got a phone call from a different person, asking for directions again. I gave them, and he just said «no. we don’t go that far.» I get it, you have a delivery zone. I was a little upset that the guy waited that long to tell me I wasn’t getting dinner, but it wasn’t a HUGE deal. Then I just double checked to make sure I wasn’t going to get charged for the order. The man got very snippy and rude on the phone, saying he’d already started the food, and since the other guy was new he didn’t know I was outside of the delivery area.
When I asked again, because he didn’t answer my question the first time, he actually HUNG UP on me. I called right back and let him know he had hung up and he said «Yeah, we were done talking.» No. We weren’t. I want to make sure I’m not going to get charged for a meal I’m not going to eat, and make sure that you destroy my credit card information.
Finally, he just said «yeah, yeah,» and I rolled my eyes and hung up (after saying thanks and bye, which is how you let someone know you’re hanging up). After reading the reviews about the food quality I’m almost glad I didn’t get my order, but the entire experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I won’t be trying to order (delivery or take out) from this place again.

I wanted this place to be good. A place that delivers burgers to my house with a low min delivery: hell ya! But the burger was über-​dry. The fries were pretty good though. I’d suggest trying other burger places.

Had a HUGE delivery order, called and added over and over again, added many difficult modifications, and they we SO helpful, nice, and appeasing. Not to mention, the order was all there and perfect. Food was worth 4 stars, added an extra star for the exceptional service.

Don’t even try this place for delivery. I dont know how the food is, but service is terrible. I ordered food after getting to my hotel room at 10:15pm. By 11:30pm they still haven’t delivered. I called them, and the guy casually said that the kitchen closed at 10:30. On the menu I ordered from it say it closes at 11:00pm. He said he tried to call me but couldnt get hold of me. I didn’t get any calls. He had my hotel name and room number. If he couldn’t get hold of me, why not call the hotel?! I am hungry and disgusted at this place.

The worst!
Took me over an hour to get a plate of watered-​down fettuccine Alfredo. The chicken was tough, the roll was over cooked and stale. The salad was a handful of bitter iceberg lettuce with half of a tomato slice on top. The only thing they did not mess up was the soda — it came in a can.
Over an hour. .. REALLY?!? Only if they were making their own noodles. I doubt they made their own sauce. Out of a Ragu bottle for sure.
Wish I had seen Steven K.‘s review before I ordered. I suggested the hotel (La Quinta) throw out the menus and pull them from all their rooms.

My husband and I were looking for a good steak restaurant and we found more than what we expected at Steakmate Grill. I had the chop steak with gravy, onions, mushrooms and fries (super yummy). The portions are very generous including the salad. My husband had the 9oz. steak, baked potato and salad and was extremely happy with it. We really recommend eating here if you want a good cooked meal. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

I have to bump Steakmate Grill to 5 stars, as I continue to be impressed by them. As far as delivery food goes, you really can’t beat them. Burgers are consistently great, fries are always good and served in good portions, and the cheesecake is awesome. Everything on the menu I’ve tried I’ve loved.
If you’re wanting good food but don’t necessarily want to make the trip to get it, give Steakmate a call… you won’t be disappointed.

I LOVE THEIR CHICKEN FRIED STEAK! Haha. My boyfriend and I ate the chicken fried steak last night for dinner, because it is a super awesome deal for two people. The total excluding tip was $ 12.50 for two people — this included two chicken fried steaks, french fries, gravy, a roll, and a large salad. We both thought it was an amazing deal. They also have awesome friend mushrooms that I have ordered before. They are friendly and I love their food. They also deliver, which is awesome when you’re tired and you don’t want to cook at home. We love Steak Mate Grill! It’s our new favorite delivery!

Great option for home delivery or takeout! Good variety on the menu offering many classic meals as well as quality grilled steaks. They were very attentive to my preferences and the food was delivered in a speedy fashion. The driver was organized and cordial. My only suggestion is that they add cucumbers and kalamata olives to the Gyro sandwich and remove the lettuce. My friends ordered the veggie burger, fried okra, Greek salad and Sirloin Tip sandwich. The food was very tasty and they were all pleased. If you don’t feel like cooking or driving Steakmate Grill is the answer.
P. S. Don’t forget the dessert!
