This restaurant closed a year ago, apparently because the building owners kept raising the rent. I am pleased that, in the past year, it has remained vacant. Instead of allowing longtime renters to continue renting the building and providing excellent Chinese food to the neighborhood, they got greedy, and have now lost a year’s rent. I hope it remains vacant. That’s what they get. Maybe the owner of Szechwan Pavilion should offer the building owners half the rent they were paying before to come back. I haven’t had any decent Chinese food since they left.

Good news! While Miss Jane is not opening in a new location, she did post a sign that she and the chef are going to be working in a restaurant in Plano. Umeko Sushi & Grill 240 Legacy Dr, #100 Plano, TX75023 972−517−2079

Oh Szechuan, how I will miss thee!(Luckily they have a restaurant in Plano I will be visiting) my family and I have been frequenters of Szechuan for ATLEAST12 years. I can give it no less than 5 stars because I am attached to the place. Yes it’s a little dingy, but the food is so good. So good! The serving staff have been the same for years and they are so kind and attentive. The pepper steak is a must try, but the twice cooked pork… I don’t even have words, so delicious! Jane is the owner and she knows her regular customers, she never fails to recognize us and sing a special song to the birthday big or girl. This is the only buffet that I will go to, the ONLY buffet! Today was their last day open and I am heart broken, nothing will fill the hole in Casa Linda that they are leaving. So glad I got to go one last time and hear Jane sing again.

We are incredibly sad to learn this lovely buffet is closing in February. More greedy landlords forcing decent hardworking people out of business and sacrificing neighborhood traditions.

Cannot begin to say how much I enjoy eating at Szechwan Pavillion. I’v been going to this restaurant since the first day it open. But sad to say rumor has it that it will be closing for good in Feb 2015. The rumor is that Casa Linda will not negotiate rent, so as a result they will not be able to afford to stay. I’m so sad about this. This restaurant is one of the true great restaurants we have in this area. Its a classic. Please let Casa Linda know how important they are to neighborhood. Please, this restaurant by far out does Pei Wei, by million to one. It will be missed for sure if this is true. Shame on Casa Linda

By far my favorite buffet style Asian food restaurant. Good pricing and even better food. Note they close for brunch and lupper so make sure you pay attention to the hours. Sushi is only served for dinner but regardless it’s subpar sushi.

I highly doubt that anyone comes here for the great service. And by that I mean it sucks. The servers may be a different story but the hostess/greeter is so rude. Today was my first time coming to this place. I went in for a to-go order. The lady behind the counter didn’t take her eyes off the TV for one second to acknowledge me. She didn’t even fill my cup to a normal level. I asked how long the order would be because I wanted to go to the restroom. She waved me away(while still glued to the TV screen) and said five minutes. The food was fine. I asked for steamed rice — which she repeated — and got fried instead. That is not a huge deal to me, but the way she treated me was. If I do go back there, I sincerely hope I don’t have to interact with that lady again.

My family has been eating here since I was before I was born and many of my friends and family have celebrated their birthdays, graduations and pretty much every other celebration you can have here. Miss Jane, the owner, has probably sung me happy birthday for all 22 of my birthdays :) There isn’t a lot of food like at other Chinese buffets, but in my opinion that makes this restaurant better, because the food they do have is beyond GREAT! Quality over quantity. Nothing is ever cold and the soup is always just the right amount of hot. Whenever I bring a new friend here they are always amazed by the food and great staff. Everyone is treated like family here and the staff is always friendly. I’m not just saying that either, when my little brother was about 7(he’s now 15) he was thoroughly convinced Miss Jane was one of our aunts because she always stopped by to chit chat and tell him how much he’d grown! Hahaha I can’t say enough about how great this place is just go, try it for yourself, then thank me later :)

Food is always good, service is always friendly and tonight the owner came over and chatted w us for quite some time. Small businesses are the best and more people should utilize small businesses rather than chains. You not only are enjoying new, different and exciting things, but you’re helping the local community not some big business in another state. We’ve been going here since we moved to the area in 1998 and will continue to go there. They have basic sushi/California rolls, fresh peel and eat shrimp and have a variety of other hot and cold items for the entire family to enjoy. They do have alcohol, but usually our drink of choice is hot or cold tea. My children love going here because they can taste everything and there is plenty of healthier options to choose from. It makes me sad to see business’s like these suffer because of chains!

Great traditional Chinese food. Grab a seat at the bar for a couple of Tsing Tao beers while you wait for the food. Jane and her crew are always friendly and there to get you what you need.

Ahhhh the Chinese buffet. A true symbol of America! No where else can you see the the true gluttony of man and all for $ 8.99 per person! Actually this place is not bad at all. The quality of the food is better than other Chinese buffets I’ve seen before. The staff are always quite friendly and quick to serve. The great thing is if you aren’t in the buffet mood you can order off the menu too. Want to go? You can get that here too. No delivery though so call ahead and pick up. They offer a decent selection for dessert but nothing unique or extremely memorable. Overall this is a decent little buffet and one you can take the whole family to for your MSG overload. Long live American capitalism!

Goupy, poopy, saucey crap — with meat that has the old taste of copper and vegetables that had a sad life, ended by an even sadder encasement in «Chinese» food. Good lord people — life is too short to get weighed down by food like this. Better to fast.

I’m Chinese/Taiwanese but I sure do enjoy a good buffet. My husband and I came here on Chinese New Year Eve and it was SOCUTE! The wait staff had their best bright red clothes on and one even sang a traditional song during dinner. The tables had sparklers and red balloons on them. Shoot, my parents own a Chinese(Americanized Chinese) restaurant too and they don’t put forth this much effort. The service is really really friendly, esp. for a buffet. I could tell the people dining in were regulars by the ladies walking around chatting with their customers. Food-wise, the buffet is a bit small, but very satisfying. The pepper steak was delicious. I also enjoyed their hot and sour soup. I LOVED the friend sesame balls for dessert. The steamed dumplings and their sauce that accompanied the dumplings are good too. All in all — this is one of the better buffets I’ve been to. The price isn’t bad either.

I love a good Chinese buffet. I know, I know! It’s American food made up like Chinese food, but it’s good! The crab wontons are amazing. They have the best sesame chicken I’ve ever had. Honestly. The spice is just right. I wish they fried vegetables in with their rice though. It always seems that there aren’t many veggie options here and that is why I took away one star. It’s great though if you feel like slipping into a fatty coma of fried goodness!

my family and I have lunch here atleast 1 – 2 times a week and have for 15 years. The food is great! The crab rangoons are better than any other place. The salad bar is very fresh and has really good pico de galio that is awesome on the salads. I have to get a little bit of everything on the line but my favorite BYFAR is their hot n sour soup. It is the best I have ever had and I have tried to find something similar but nothing comes close. If anything ever happened to this place I would not know what to do. I would have to hunt down Jane(the owner) to her house and beg her husband to make it for me. dang it… Now I’m hungry.

I LOVESZECHWAN! i can’t believe i haven’t reviewed it yet. it’s been a neighborhood standby for a looong time for us. we always get the buffet(i really should venture into the menu sometime!) it may be a small little buffet but everything on it is quality. i craaave that broccoli/veg mix. their crab rangoons are a little light on the crab but they are always so fresh and crispy that i don’t even care. LOVE. SZECHWAN.

First, let me say that I’m not a gourmet when it comes to Asian food. Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese all tend to run together on my palate. But I know what I like and I like this places food. First of all, it’s a buffet. Duh. Second, most of the dishes are familiar. Third, nothing seems to stay on the buffet very long. Plus, everything tasted great to me. Service was very friendly and attentive. If I had to choose a favorite it would be the sesame chicken with the spicy beef a close second. Didn’t try the salad bar or soup but what I saw looked fresh. Also, the dessert bar was limited but more than adequate. My favorite there was a mocha/chocolate item that tempted me and mocked my need to show some restraint. Lunch buffet for two, before tip, was just over $ 20 including iced tea.

The absolute best handmade potstickers in the world. Now that I’ve said that, my mouth is watering, and I may have to order some right now. They are huge and full of tasty pork. They come with a delicious side of mixed sweet and sour pickled veggies. The only problem is they take about 20 minutes, and they don’t deliver. I’ve made a full, cheap meal of these many times. And, I’ve sat and waited the 20 minutes gladly, while watching their lovely fish tank. You can shop in the plaza while waiting, or call in your order, or eat at the bar or table. The buffet is great, but it always pays to arrive early at any buffet. They are constantly bringing fresh entrees, and the table service is attentive. One of the few Chinese restaurants around that don’t throw the same veggies and sauces into most of the entrees and just switch the meat, calling it by a different name. We need to frequent this place and keep it in business. Wish they had a drive thru potsticker window! I’d be driving thru all the time.

I’m in a similar boat to Megan M.‘s review. I lived in the area for two years and since I’m about to move away from my beloved Casa Linda/Lakewood area I decided I finally had to give it a try. It was… alright. My husband liked their orange chicken, and said it was some of his favorite but the rice we got was dry and two entrees cost us over $ 20. I had asked what was in the lo mein and was told carrots, onions and celery, which I was cool with. When I got it the lo mein had so many bean sprouts in it that it was almost inedible. I really don’t like them and spent most of dinner picking out the bean sprouts to try and enjoy it. Even then it wasn’t great. The lady at the front counter was über talkative and told me that she’d been there for over twenty years, was happy I was there, etc etc. She was really nice and I really feel like I gave them an extra star just because they had good service, but I’m just not a fan of overpriced, mediocre chinese food.
