Watched the Super Bowl @ Bubba’s this past Sunday. The big Screen TVs are amazing. Great family sports restaurant. Excellent Hot Buffalo Chicken Wings. Great Ribs. Excellent TriTip. Great selection of Beers poured cold with a frosty foamy head unlike so many mediocre places that pour flat beers. Will definitely go back again and again. Way better Wings than BW3 or other places that over charge and underdeliver.

Lets just say the Beer was flat, pizza crust was soggy, and wings were rotten with black bones. The place was fallen apart the tables were filthy and the bathroom looked as if they belonged in Tijuana. It seems as if the management has given up and the place shows it. For 3 people we spent $ 53 dollars and I feel buyers remorse. Good Luck if you decide to go there I would rather put my money on the chargers winning the Superbowl? My son also wanted to me to mention that the change machine didn’t even work so that he can play the games. I don’t remember sports times pizza like this? Somebody call John Taffer for a restaurant makeover.

Great pizza and good beer! Their crust is crispy and they have great options if you like a more complex pizza. Come and try it!

They don’t run the air! Stuffy as hell in there. Food was ok– pizza was good. But place is grimy. Wood chairs and tables sticky. Typical sports bar/eatery– Would order the pizza to go would not eat in again.

Oh yeh, Bubba Kahumas is the bomb! Anytime we surf near Dana Point we get several large pizzas and is I shall say very amazing! We usually get a large Do-Ho Pizza(Thin crust, garlic, mozzarella, pecorino romano, onions and tomatoes with a garlic olive oil herb sauce), The Margherita(Tomatoes and basil atop mozzarella cheese with a garlic olive oil herb sauce, and Bubba’s Favorite(Thin crust, garlic, mozzarella, chicken, artichokes, olives, onion, goat cheese with a garlic olive oil herb sauce). I like Bubba’s Favorite myself. Of course I spice them all up with red peppers! QUALITY: Very high-amazing! SERVICE: Perfect-keep up the cute smiles! AMBIANCE: Casual, relaxing, fun even with wet shorts and sandy feet! Amazing pizza! Oh and the staff are really nice and helpful. And of course the cute girls are always so helpful, sweet, welcoming. All are as good as your pizza! Keep up the good work! Love it!

Recently moved into a neighborhood in Capistrano beach with my wife and have been looking around for a reliable easy restaurant that’s quick and easy especially now that we have a baby coming. We came across Bubba’s a little while ago and the service has been beyond friendly. The atmosphere and environment is refreshing with the ocean breeze blowing through the front door and the food satisfies beyond the description on the menu. We even got lucky one day the owner had a fresh caught yellowtail that he was eating with some friends of his at a table next to ours and he offered me and my wife a sample and we are so glad we came across this place. We will be returning as many times as we can and recommend it to any guests or family members we have visiting and looking to grab a bite.

Last year we were there for dinner and experienced the worst time ever. The manager(maybe also the owner) was drinking beer with his friends while the pizzas didn’t come for 45 mins. When we finally asked what was going on, we found out they forgot about it. The manager flipped out at this point an threatened us. Drunken mean man. He proceeded to fire the employees on the spot(which in my opinion weren’t to blame. Fortunately, the friends of the manager covered for him and baked the pizzas and served us with appetizers&beer. They had to stop the manager(his friend) many times with his rude and aggressive behavior towards us, because, hey, we asked for our food after 45 min waiting. Never felled this uncomfortable in a restaurant, never will come back.

Horrible Food! We stopped here after a fun day at the beach. Having 4 kids a local pizza place is always a good time. First of all they have very little games and half of them did not work. The table was sticky, not from food but from the lacker that was painted on! Gross! My husband got a beer and after it was poured she sat it on the counter for quite a while. So long that my husband has to go get himself. Needless to say the beer was not cold enough! The pizza was absolutely disgusting! Way too much grease. On a good note my tossed salad wasn’t bad. I have to say the service wasn’t so bad, my problem was with the food.

Scott the owner keeps sending me private messages harassing me for my bad review. He should concentrate on his customer service and bettering his restaurant instead of bugging me and other Unilocalers. I will not remove my review because the food there sucks!

Great pizza. It is a kind of funky counter ordering, video machines, casual kind of place. Very much a locals hang out.

If I could I would rate this place even lower than the previous 1 star that I gave them solely for the lack of customer service. The«compliment» that I received from Scott C., yesterday(note that I dined here almost two years ago) was less than that and was a baseless personal attack. Hopefully this establishment has improved and no one has the same experience that me and my family had.

Decided to get a quick bite to eat before having to go home and stumbled upon this place. Lucky me because it was so great, I got the beef brisket sandwich which came with fries and coleslaw. I’m an avid coleslaw fan and it was great the fries were homemade and came with ranch. Overall great food and was a total of $ 11. I’d recommend for anyone passing through or that lives locally!

I love this place, it’s a little pricey, but the pulled pork sandwich is of the chain!

This place is cute. It’s decorated Hawaiian-style and has an open floor plan. There are video games for kids, beer for adults and a good place for a get together. The food is basic, pizza and sandwiches, and there are lots of choices. There are also a couple tables outside where dogs are welcome.

Spicy hawaiian pizza is to DIE for, sweet mango and pineapple, spicy habanero, yummy bacon(I am drooling just thinking about it!!). Beer selection is ok, they do pitchers which is nice. It’s an expensive place so be prepared. It’s a great place to go on a Saturday night if you have large party and don’t want to wait an hour to get seated.

Not bad, not great. I got the gourmet veggie pizza, which had a generous amount of veggies(more than you would expect from a place called Bubba Kahunas). The crust is a little different than what I’m used too – it’s kind of hard and oily. I prefer soft and airy. My husband had the pulled pork pizza and really loved it. Since they specialize in BBQ and pizza, I’m guessing this would be your best bet. You can get pizza anywhere, but I haven’t seen pulled pork pizza very often. One last thing – the onion rings are a worthy add-on to your meal!

Recently received a message from Scott, Bubba Kahuna’s owner/operator… ‘He sincerely reached out in regard to my latest, updated, 2 Star Rating.(His email had no snide comments but complete & total accountability.) Kudos, Scott…(*Tip my hat) ‘And it was pretty cool. I’m not one to complain about small ‘kine little things, but when I do make«noise,» there’s a reason… ‘And some people do not take my tongue & cheek, quirky humor as well as others. I joke around, a lot… So, when given the opportunity to, I will. ‘Which most of the time, makes its way into my not-so-favorable write ups. I’m still a huge fan of Bubba Kahunas, cool local place, chill vibe. However, for some reason the pizza JT& I tried that particular day was just bad.(I’m not going to get into it, already wrote that review.) However, this particular update is due to Scott’s recent message to me. I’ve received feedback from various owners who were less than thrilled with my Unilocal*views. I found most of the messages were merely a way for proprietors to pound their chests, defend their food/service, make themselves feel better, whateva’s… ‘BUT never really addressing the issues.(‘Just like politics.) I rarely reply because it would be moot. If I point out the old, wilted, brown, Iceberg lettuce,(w/photos included), in my review and the response message I receive is, «Well, we don’t use Iceberg and only Romaine!» So, the piss-poor, old lettuce was Romaine… ‘Thank you for clarifying, that makes all the difference. WTH?!( ) If these places are unable to address my concerns from my initial review & miss the point entirely, I’d merely be repeating myself… ‘And then the pissing contest ensues.(Pointless.) However, I do love competition! «A First» However, Scott, did none of that… ‘And I’d have to say, that’s a first from ANY of the places that I’ve ever received feedback from in my less than stellar reviews.(‘And I’ve gotten a few… ‘Of the 500+ Unilocal*views that I’ve done thus far.) Scott, addressed what it was that I had my main gripe with, the pizza… ‘Even with my off-beat jokes & cracks.(A lot of people know that I do some amateur stand up comedy, so what better place to get bit of writing practice in & keep those synapses firing than here?!) Updated Review: +1 Star(Scott’s sincere reply to my review) ‘And on that note, the next time I’m back south… I’m stopping by for a visit! A hui hou!(‘Until next time!) — Big Aloha, DJ

Update: as if this establishment’s ethics weren’t questionable enough… They’ve since tried to bully me with threats of legal action to delete my negative review. Sorry. Not happening. They claim they have video footage of the evening and would take me to court for defamation. I politely advised them against this, actually thankful that it was caught on tape. I said if I received an apology, I would consider removing my review. Additionally, further research has shown me that the person who sent me this message claiming she works here has posted one of this restaurant’s 5 star reviews. HA. That’s when I received a very hateful message.(Included as a screen shot). Details: I’ve written 4 Unilocal reviews. 2 of those were 5 star reviews. Yet apparently I seek out negative experiences. I was called a b*tch and a sl*t according to what the sender heard. So… I’m a b*tch because I ignored this guy’s advances, and a sl*t because he needed an excuse for why he felt it was okay to place his hands on me without my consent. The writer states«sorry that this happened to you»… But you aren’t really, because you’re saying it’s my fault. I did leave the restaurant. And asking for a manager? He was the OWNER. He essentially IS the manager. The sender claims to be a feminist, but how could they, when it’s so obvious that they are blaming ME for being treated so inappropriately by this man. What a completely and utterly disgusting practice. Do me a favor and take your business elsewhere.
