The food was not spicy even though we repeatedly asked for it and the favors were pretty bland overall. My takeout order also took longer than promised. The customer service was good.

Namaste Nepal is usually where I go if I want some Indian food only because it’s closest to where I live, north davis. The place is a bit over priced. I think the thalis are a rip off because the extra things they give you in the thali are not really appetizing. Also, the don’t even havr half the desserts that are on the dang menu… so they should remove them! The knly dessert I like of theirs is their kheer. Every thing is only just okay I give this place three stars because they give students a one dollar discount during buffet hours and I like their butter chicken with naan. Mango lassi is good too. Kathmandu is definitely better but since it’s a little farther, this place does the job.

I think they’re closed which is a shame. Decent food, decent price, lunch buffet was good.

Basic Indian lunch buffet– nothing special, but not bad for a quick, cheap eat. Their buffet selection is pretty limited and many of their hot dishes were not hot! The naan was the best thing I had there.

Not the same anymore… I have been here in the past when they JUST opened up. It was a while ago, around 2 – 3 years ago and I was surprised(pleasantly at first) to see they were still around and popped in here to grab a bite with a friend and the first tell-tale sign should have been that there was basically nobody in there. The staff were sitting around and seemed bored. We sat down, then got up basically to go to their buffet line and the food was horrible looking. most looked like they had been sitting out for the day or more and the selection didn’t even include the Chicken Tikka Masal they had(or their equivalent of it) from last time I was here. The dishes were smelly and did not seem tasty at all. I still gave it a shot thinking it was the lighting maybe. but the food was bland and terrible. They ran out of Naan while I was there and I had to wait 20 minutes(and alert them to the fact it was empty) for them to make a new batch of which 3 or 4 were blackened and gross. Wouldn’t come back here if you paid me to. Much better food downtown Davis. Avoid!

Namaste, one of the good buffet places. A bit pricey compared to another place, but it’s good food and love the chicken and naan.

Go here for their dinner. Lunch buffet isn’t as good and has only a little bit of stuff. I was happy because they had buttered chicken but the dinner version is better, like soo much better, still good but it was more charcoal tasting for some reason. same with their roti, better at night, but you have to remember a buffet. the food is out for awhile), the chicken was hot but some of the hot dishes were cold. The lemon rice was good, wasn’t into the other stuff so much. They have student discounts? the lady didn’t tell me last time. but a different lady asked me if I was a student and made it cheaper. The chai is bitter(3 packets of sugar don’t do it good, maybe 4 or more, too bad they don’t have a sugar bowl.

UMMMWTF Namaste Nepal, I’m a loyal customer, get takeout here literally ALL the time and today, I come home with my takeout, take out the container, and it is literally just a little over half full of curry?! are you serious?! This is NOT cool. Also, it has the consistency of water! How about not gypping your customers since you generally don’t even get good reviews as it is. So angry right now. I guess it’s time to start getting my chicken tikka masala fix from Kathmandu instead!!!

If you’re looking for cheap and good Indian food in the U-mall look to no place else other than Trader Joe’s. That’s right. The frozen Indian entrees at TJ’s are far better than what you can get here either for lunch or dinner. Their lunch buffet, as everyone has covered, tastes bland, salty, and old. Their dinner isn’t that much better. Instead of it being salty and old due to it sitting out there for the whole day, it just tastes bland. The worst offense is that they put ice cubes in their mango lassi. The service is whatever. Seriously if you want good Indian food in the mall then go to traders.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the food here. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Davis. One day I looked up some Unilocal reviews and one stated they found hair in their food. Who knew that after reading that post I noticed hair in my food each time I went to eat here. I thought it was a coincidence the first time, but I had to face the truth the second time. Bottom line: the food is great, but it isn’t sanitary.

Let’s be honest, we all fall in the trap of a cheap Indian Buffett. The place is pretty horrible… food is tasteless and has been sitting there for a while. If you appreciate limitless quantities of tasteless and low quality food, you will love it. College student? Yeah, this might work out for you. This review is solely based on the lunch Buffett. Maybe the dinner is better… hopefully,

I just kathmancan’t even. Namastes lunch buffet sucks in all honesty compared to Kathmandu. I can’t get over the poor selection for the buffet, it’s actually far less than Kathmandu and none of their food actually tasted good. I tried eating their chicken rice and there was so many bones in the rice, it made me hate it. Their butter chicken wasn’t worth noting, tasted very bland. The tandoori chicken was the only thing that tasted ok to me, but I didn’t come to eat«ok» food. Really disappointed by this place because I gave it a second shot, but was even more disappointed the second time around. Maybe their other food tastes better, but as far as the lunch buffet goes… it’s turribleee.

Great lunch deal if you’re craving some Indian food. It’s right next to The Davis Graduate and Fluffy Donuts! $ 8.99 lunch buffet and students get a $ 1 off. The buffet has great variety, you’ll most definitely find something of your liking. The popular butter chicken, lamb curry and some vegetarian options a spinach dish, potato and daal lentils. There is a good selection of side sauces as well — raita(yogurt) and mint chutney. Overall, my experience was good. We were seated very fast, offered water, the price the was great, however the taste was ok, definitely had more flavorful Indian food. I wasn’t really impressed with the quality, but for $ 7.99 can’t complain much

This is one of my go-to places to grab dinner if I’m in a hurry but don’t want to get fast food. I’ll usually call in my order when I’m on campus, and by the time I get there, my food is just about ready. Currently, my favorite dish to get here is the namaste special: A tamarind based sauce that’s tangy with a little bit of heat. If you like spicy, don’t hesitate and get the«Indian spicy.» Its the perfect amount of spicy! I’ve gotten the namaste special with both chicken and lamb, and noticed that when I get the lamb, I get much less meat, even though the lamb dish is a dollar more. I usually get it a la carte, and substitute the rice for their soft, yet crispy naan. Some other dishes that I like are the chicken makhani, baigan verta, and the momo’s. Their raita is also really good! At 7.99, their lunch special is a really good deal and has a really wide selection including goat curry, tandoori chicken, spinach curry, and chicken tikka masala. All very tasty.

NaNASTY Nepal. SORRY. I came here for lunch today with some friends from back home, hoping to have a nice dine-in buffet experience. 2 years ago when I was a freshman, I had Nepalese/Indian food for the first time here and I was blown away by the taste and quality. It was so good! I came by maybe 2 – 3 more times within that year alone and it never disappointed. So I was BEYOND disappointed coming in today and eating such sub-par food. The dishes lacked freshness, and the meats seemed to be scarce. We waited 15 minutes for them to come out with their chicken and lamb and by the time they did come out, I was ready to get out of there. I was honestly embarrassed because I was with good company but we were all turned off by the food. Maybe it’s because it’s the day after Picnic Day and they’re running low on stock and super busy. But that was the saddest 9 dollars I spent on food EVER.

Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant first experience with this place. I HIGHLY discourage ordering from their app«Namaste Nepal» because indeed, it was too good to be true! I used it to order their dinner box meal where you choose two items. I waited and waited and waited until I finally called right before closing. Turns out my Paypal payment went through but the app did not send them my information so they had no way to contact me. I told them I would instead place my pre-paid order for the next day for delivery which I did. The butter chicken was good and so was the vegetable korma which I chose for my two sides. The $ 8 box meal also came with basmati rice, and naan. Then I found a black hair in my food :-(Ugh.

Lunch buffet: 7.99 with student id. Vegetarian s have plenty foods to select from too(just skip the end of the station with meat dishes). Lady boss always greets us sincerely. Delicious grilled potatoes with okra! Free chai tea! Dinner: my bf and I() like the aloo gobi! Aloo paratha is good too. Vast selection for vegetarian too.

The second indian place i’ve tried in Davis. I have yet to find good indian food here. A quick summary of fails I experienced: Sweet butter chicken Freezer burn taste in the desserts Low food stock Unauthentic chow mein I came on a Sunday afternoon. The food was overall bland and not good. My craving for indian food remains unsatisfied and things are looking bleak.

Wow, after experiencing the greatness of Namaste in Roseville this place was a poor cousin. The buffet selection was small and overwhelmingly under stocked. The butter chicken was woefully sweet and one noted. The Tandori chicken was to spicy and a little over cooked. We had a very large party and the waitress never voluntarily cleared plates, refilled waters or drinks etc even though a 18% automatic gratuity was added to our bill due to the large party. Tip: there is a 10% off Unilocal check in coupon, but we don’t plan on returning here.

I am very picky when it comes to Indian food. As a brown man who loves food, you have to convince me to spend my dollars on food I can get at home. Namaste Nepal, you earned it. I only come here for the lunch buffet, but it is consistently good. The items aren’t the greatest, but it is relatively better than what Davis has to offer. I LOVE the mango lassi here. They serve it in a huge glass and it isn’t full of yogurt(this one has more mango flavor to it). If you have a coupon or use Crewsy, this place is a very good deal.
