This restaurant not only introduced me to my first dosa ever, they have been helping to successfully satisfy my dosa cravings for about 20 years! I can always feel confident I will have a quality experience. Thank you, Chopaati!

I enjoyed my dinner Thali here. It is kind of a cafeteria style with bright blue trays. The prices are cheaper than a full-service restaurant. The thali is enough for two people. It came with lots of curries and a little jalebi for dessert. I will be back.

Wow, a samosa sandwich! Wait, lemme back up. When I visited the area, chopaati, an all vegetarian Indian restaurant, was one of the open restaurants on a Monday, so I happily entered to see what I could see. A huge fan of samosas, I couldn’t resist the the Samosa paav once I was given the description of it. The, samosa paav($ 3.99) is the samosa, which is a fist sized triangular shaped pastry, jammed full of spiced potato & peas. For the paav part, the samosa is placed on a white hamburger bun, with green chutney and tamarind sauce. The samosa was just okay in flavor and not very crispy, although it did have a little spicy kick to it, which I enjoyed. It was pretty filling for a sandwich, or if you’re really hungry, have a sit down for their buffet(which I didn’t do, because I wasn’t very hungry). Chopaati is not a bad place to visit for a quick snack before(or after) heading over to peruse Patel brothers, or one of the other nearby stores. Glad I stopped in

Great buffet. Authentic Indian restaurant with a very good price. They don’t have too many options but everything tasted great

Wonderful, fresh buffet selection with very friendly service from kind and helpful staff. The sabzi was delicate and crisp with a perfect julienne cut and blend of mustard seed spice blend.

The food is bland. The menu was confusing and the staff was not helpful. And we waited for at least 25 min for the food. One of the dishes contains just some soup and a piece of big pancake(?). The other one was something like palak paneer.

Good tasting food & cheaper price than Chatpatti or Gokul next door. The only problem is the service is bad & the place needs updating. Dirty with no décor. The only person taking order behind the counter is the lady with no customer service or multi-tasking skills. Horrible accent & seems like she is yelling all the time. If you can bypass that, the food is good(especially lunch buffet for 7 bucks) & prices are very reasonable. Lot cheaper than there next door competitors, Chatpatti & Gokul. Chatpatti has better service & cleaner. Gokul’s food is bad tasting plus prices are high.

My Indian friend and I came to this place because we were hungry and we wanted to go to an AYCE restaurant. I have to admit that it took me a while to realize that this restaurant is vegetarian. Thats right I am not a vegetarian and I found this restaurant to be pretty tasty! Mushroom and tofu are well prepared and spices are so tasty. I can’t believe its not butter chicken! Prices are pretty cheap. Service is meh though. If you ever thought about going vegetarian then you should surely check this place out.

4 stars if your hungry for Indian food. Very casual, don’t expect fancy. Very economical. Lady at front desk was very helpful explaining dishes and suggesting what to order. I’m coming back to try other dishes. Love Indian spices!

I remember the plaza in «little india» a few years ago when the only indian eatery was Chopaati. Since then, the area has expanded so much and more stores have been added, contributing to the vibrant east indian culture(love it!). I always love a good chaat because it reminds me of street food in India when I was a boy. The other thing that rocks about the place is the PRICE. ITISSOOOOOOCHEAP. Cheap, cheap, cheap. Oh yeah! You don’t pay for ambiance in this place, as the décor is minimal at best but if the food is good, it is all good. They other thing I can say is that is was just the correct balance of spices(often, these«chaat houses» can make the food too spicy which detracts from the overall effect) just hot enough to get your spice on, but not to make your eyes water and make you hallucinate glasses of milk floating to you to quench the lava fire on your tongue! What was surprising was the varied dosai dishes and you could pick and choose what you wanted placed in it. The cucumber chutney(called kochundar) was smooth and refreshing. I tried the idli(steamed rice cakes) with sambar(a curried soup with veggies) and it hit the spot and filled me up. I also tried a paneer dish that was cooked in tandoori spices with onions and green peppers and was surprisingly bursting with flavor as deep as the deep red seasoning on the paneer(indian cheese). I think I will be visiting when I’m in town often to get my chaat on!

Indian dessert café next to Patel Brothers grocery in Decateur. It’s in an shopping center and is very ok. Clean tables and reasonable prices. Nothing remarkable.

I love an Indian snack shop. I have been to Chopaati a few times in the past 5 years or so. This is an order at the counter type of place that offers Indian snacks or a small buffet. Overall, one thing has been consistent and that has been crappy and disorganized service. I don’t expect great customer service or even a smile from these places, but service simply sucks here. I also find that they are real penny pinchers at this place, which I find quite annoying. For example, you have to ask them for napkins. As most Indian snack food is eaten with your hands, this is a major annoyance. In addition, they didn’t provide any coconut chutney with the medhu vada and they only gave us ONE tiny plastic container of chutney for a huge Masala Dosa. They didn’t offer us our drinks as we waited for our order. We had to get up and ask for our napkins, then for our food items which were missing from our order, and then for our drinks. I then had to get up again to wait in a line and pay for our meal since they didn’t take my payment upfront. While the food is good, but I would much prefer the much better tasting food at the same price point with much better service at Gokul Sweets next door. I don’t like spending my time at a meal by having to get up and keep asking for simple things and getting shorted on napkins and condiments.

Had been to this place twice in last 3 days, delicious food at great price. Only flip side is their slow service & poor hospitality. We had to wait for like 5 mins, even when no customer was their at the counter, they were busy in there own world and not even saying«will be with you shortly sortaaa lines ». Eventually we ordered !!! Thumps up for the Dal Tadka & Garam Garam Roti’s(typical Indian Bread). Also their buffet is good, variety of dishes . Going back to this place, every time I visit Atlanta. Definitely recommend it for someone who has lots of patience to eat some deliciously awesome Indian food.

This place have some awesome samosas. Not too spicy and have a nice salty and fennel taste and the prices are very right for the food & quality and less than the next door neighbor Gokul Sweets. Service can be improved but its the best on the block compared royal sweets, Gokul sweets. So I will be back for some more for sure to try the $ 4.99 buffet. Summary — where there are no trees, a rosemary bush is the redwood.

We stopped by Chopaati when we tried to go to Thali on a day it was closed. We got there at lunchtime, and most of the tables were full. The lunch buffet is only $ 6.95 for a decent variety of food. All their dishes are vegetarian, and like Addy, I love that they label all the dishes on the buffet. The buffet doesn’t have a ton of options, but the dishes are all hot, well-seasoned, and tasty. The day we went, there was paneer in a creamy sauce, dry curry okra, some pakora, curd rice, plain rice, a couple of other dishes, sambar soup, khadi soup, some crumbs of very broken papadam, and a nice little set up to build your own chaat snack. They also bring chapati and a masala dosa to the table, although we were more than halfway done eating by the time they arrived. It’s not the finest Indan food I’ve ever had(the dosa at Saravana Bhavan are markedly better), but it was a solid, filling, and relatively healthy(seeming) lunch, and the price of around $ 7 is excellent.
