Food was just ok. Nothing that should warrant a $ 30 breakfast for 2 people. It was edible and the waitress was great and did a wonderful job. We felt the food was WAY over priced. I had a country skillet that never made it into the oven, the dish itself was COLD. First bite was luke warm and the shredded cheddar wasn’t even melted. Once was enough, we will not be back.

You can always count on a good breakfast and a full belly at Flappy’s.

Their food is always yummy! I have never had anything that I didn’t like! It’s a nice place to sit with friends, or family have a nice brunch. The staff is friendly as well. The restaurant is always clean!

My husband and I have been here 5 times. We like the food but the Service is really bad. Every time we go in for breakfast, we get a new Waitress. What we have notice is that the new waitresses get so confused and lost. We would be waiting for at lease two hours for our food to be served. Not happy at all. Then they would forget the Orange juice and would try to charge us. The Manager has the lack of training with the staff and motivation with their employees. We did complain to the manager but every time we do make a complaint they always come up with the most terrible excuses. We will never go back! Not recommended!

Went in and got a wrap, they got it wrong multiple times then when they finally gave it to me they put it on an old used dirty plate with dried crusted rice and sauce. I told the manager but he said its normal because the cooks touch everything and the plates wont always be clean. It was obvious it wasn’t dirty from someone touching it but it sat for hours and wasn’t washed. Manager was very rude and just kept trying to make excuses for my food to be on someone else’s dirty plate. Disgusting!!!

Nice little place. Food is good and my coffee cup is always full. Serving sizes not as big as I expected, but enough to say the least.

I love being transported to a tropical place when I enter this space. Good food, good owner, so it’s a reasonable 5 stars for creating a nice ambiance cheaper than a plane ticket to Miami, FL for breakfast for sure!

I visited Flappy’s again after my husband and I ate there and saw roaches and talk with the business owners about it and they explained they were having a problem with a broken pipe as a business owner myself I sympathized with them and did not do a review then. Today I decided to do breakfast with one of my students and chose Flappy’s over our favorite Egg Haven and boy did I make a bad decision! We told the waitress our chicken was not fully cooked she then went and got her mom the owner they cursed us both out really loud. We then decided to leave the food and go to the counter and pay for the coffee they demanded we pay for the food we did not eat when we refused to pay for the food we did not eat and told them to call the police to see what they would have to say about the situation the husband walked up behind us and started yelling at us leave the building and don’t come back at the same time the wife was yelling you guys just want a free meal! Wow

Food is good but the service is so bad I’m never going back. Management is a joke. Owners yell at the customers and are so money hungry. Absolutely never returning to this business again.

Unfortunately I am unable to say anything about the food here. The restaurant opens at six. I get there at 6:30. Plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and make it to work at eight, about 10 minutes away. I walk in and it’s a seat yourself restaurant. I take a seat at one of the booths. There are two other tables in the restaurant. A four top and a single person. The four top was eating already and the single table looked like he was just waiting for his food. I see the waitress come by, ask them if they need any refills, and just walks by me. I waited for 20 minutes, and didn’t see her again. A group of four had walked in at that point, and she gave them water and asked them if they needed anything. Completely skipped me. At this point, I’m very irritated, but I really wanted to try the food, so I thought I would wait a little bit longer. A few minutes later, she rung out the four top that was in the restaurant before I got there and then just sat in a booth. That’s when I walked out. I was in the restaurant for 30 minutes and no one even said a word to me. Very disappointed I couldn’t try the menu.

Stopped by Flappy’s for the 1st time on May 20th, 2014 an hour before the lunch crowd. Waitress was nice, but tended to sit with friends at another booth. The food was poor. The biscuits hiding under the gravy were burnt(black) while the eggs were runny(ordered over hard). If they learn to use a timer, I’m sure they could do better.

I would love to be able to rate the food, but I can’t. When i arrived, there were two other tables occupied for a total of 4 people. I waited a few minutes, and was seated and brought a cup of coffee. For the next 25 minutes, that was all the contact I had. Two waitresses and a hostess sat at the back talking while one waitress ran around as if she was busy(remember, 4 people including myself(. After 25 minutes of having no one at my table, I got up and went to counter. The hostess asked if everything was ok, I told her what happened and her response was«Oh, I was sure someone was waiting on you». She then proceeded to charge me for the coffee, took my money and turned and went into the back. I went to another area restaurant that I go to frequently, told what I went through without mentioning where and my waitress and one standing nearby both simultaneously said ‘Flappys?”. Apparently they have a rep with locals of which I was unaware. Would not bother going.

Went here after finals for a nice quiet breakfast. I was pleased with their waffles and the portion size of their eggs and bacon, a little pricer than I as a student would prefer, but the food was good and the service was pleasant. And yes if you’re under the age of 40 you will be younger than anyone in here, but that shouldn’t steer you away from a good breakfast.

A great little place to pop in and get a cheap breakfast or a panini with fries! Not a place that’s particularly noticeable from the road, but that just adds to the appeal.

Flappy’s — «wanna eat where all the old people eat in DeKalb?» This was the invitation proposed to me last weekend for a breakfast date. I was told we could go to Flappy’s, a quiet restaurant with reasonable portions or we could go to the louder more boisterous Eggsclusive with their Hungry Man portions. I chose Flappy’s. And indeed, we were the youngest people in this place. And it was a solid choice for breakfast, the Bears game was on, the food was good, prices were reasonable and portions were a good size. And coffee was kept topped up at the right time. Had a funny issue with our server though, I don’t think she liked me or my breakfast partner very much. She has some dietary restrictions and is slightly vegan(if you can call it that) and had to do some searching of the menu to find something she could/want to eat. As we were perusing the menu our server came over to ask If we were ready and I asked for a minute. She gave us 30 seconds before returning with pen and pad in hand. My date had a fruit plate with scrambled egg whites and toast and I got the Big Man Omelette — ham, sausage, bacon, green peppers, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli and spinach. Oh and your choice of cheese, cheddar feta swiss or ‘Murican. ‘Murican it is. It also came with hashed browns and pancakes. Pancakes. Just like Prince served Charlie Murphy after a basketball game at Prince’s house. My breakfast was large enough to cut into 2 equal portions that I ate for breakfast th next day. My omelette was cooked well with all ingredients properly encased in egg, however I got maybe one sprout of broccoli, a couple pieces of mushroom and zero tomato. While we were in the middle of eating our server came over to ask if she could clear anything away. On the table was my omelette, my plate of pancakes, her plate of fruit and eggs, and both of our coffees. There was nothing to clear. But she stood and took account of our tablescape and decided she needed a verbal no before she walked away. It was actually kind of funny. Then she dropped the check off without asking if I needed a box for the other half of my breakfast and proceeded to get busy wrapping utensils. Asided from the service, everything else about our experience was tip top. The busboy who topped off our coffee and water was more attentive to us than our server, but hey. Just hey. Oh and I spied something on the menu that sounds just plain disgusting but I guess it must be on the menu for a reason, I mean, someone must enjoy it enough that it sticks around. It’s called Frontier Flapjacks. Pancakes topped with onions, peppers, ham, sour cream and cheddar cheese. Barfaroo, but I am going to order that someday.

Every omelette I’ve ever had there is not only tasty, but really well done technically speaking. My Mom has been quoted as saying that the pancakes are the best she’s ever had which was no small feat to get her to admit.

A nice pancake selection, but that’s the only difference between this place and a denny’s. The staff seemed nice when I visited, but this place is a greasy diner-type. If you are on campus, like I was, save your time and just head to IHOP, or even better, just go to the buffet at Grant North(I wonder if that’s still around… it was awesome!)
