White Castle

My boyfriend and I were driving through Dekalb and decided to go to White Castle because I had never been there. We went through the drive thru, and it took a while for the small amount we ordered, but the food was nice and hot.
He ordered 2 Western BBQ Grilled Chicken Sliders. I being a pescatarian (vegetarian that eats seafood), ordered a Veggie Slider with Ranch and 2 Fish Sliders. I also got a Strawberry Banana Smoothie.
So we first received the smoothie. It was one of the best fast food strawberry banana smoothies I have ever had! Very delicious.
I did not enjoy the veggie slider. I had high hopes because it has actual vegetables in the slider, but it was not good. It had no flavor and just tasted like grease. :/​Not very good at all.
My boyfriend did not enjoy his grilled chicken sliders. They were dry and stringy. Not a fun experience for him. He ended up only eating half of one and just threw away the other 1 ½. He said next time he goes he is just going to stick to the regular beef sliders.
The fish was where it was at for me. The filet was a bit dry which gave it a more flaky feel and appearance compared to most fish filet sandwiches that are mushy. I tried a couple bites without adding tartar sauce, and they are even good that way. I am a tartar sauce (condiment of any kind) fiend so I ended up putting tartar sauce on them, and they were delicious.
I will definitely go back here if I’m near one, but I doubt I will go out of my way to get to one since we don’t have one near us. The fish was good, but not as good as some other places I have been that are closer.

I forgot to give these guys the 0 star review when I went here. My buddy orders a 10 slider meal like #7 or something. He pays and 4 people cook it. More than 5 minutes later and after my buddy gets his food one comes over to me and asks if I need anything. I said I need to order. Person thought I had ordered. I said I don’t have any food. I end up ordering the same meal. I go sit with my buddy. While he waited to eat to wait for me to get food it was around 20 minutes later that I went to the counter saw the 4 people chatting and asked where my food was. One asked what I ordered. I showed the receipt. Another said they had taken that order over. I said they took the order over to my buddy however I came there to eat too. So they start cooking it. Despite there being just 4 people working they managed to cook the order and walk it to another table. Luckily for me that customer didn’t order what I did and half an hour after I came in I got my food. Peoria doesn’t have a White Castle for population reasons I guess but I can’t figure Decrab would when it’s a small hick town. So we down this way have to go far for the food. However I’ll be going to Bradley, Illinois and giving them a try.

Food here was good and quick just like any other White Castle, I just wasn’t very happy of the cleanliness of the floor and tables. The floor was ultra sticky. Decided to take-​out. Overall satisfied.

White Castle is definitely not for everyone, but if you are a person that likes White Castle, settle here. They’re rarely busy, so they often take the time to prepare things, which can result in a drive-​thru order taking a bit of time. It’s well worth the wait, however, because everything is hot out of the oven and tastes pretty fresh (even for a fast food restaurant).

I’ve wanted to try White Castle ever since Harold and Kumar embarked on their quest for white castle burgers. Living in the west coast the closest I got was was the frozen section at the local Save Mart. I recently found my self in the Midwest and decided to Unilocal white castle, ding ding ding found one 45 miles away and I had to try it. Ordered me 8 slicers with cheese, large fry and large coke. Heaven, just as good as the movie made out to be. Needless to say I will be returning if I ever find myself nearby.
