Really good Cuban food! Generous portions, expertly prepared. Wonderful chicken with shrimp and garlic dish. It is loud, so if you want to talk this isn’t the place. If you want to eat it is.

I keep my reviews simple and to the point. The cucumber mojito was refreshing delicious and strong. The paella marinera was superb and all the sea food was very fresh. Good service and overall good experience. Highly recommended.

Cabanas is a fun and great resteraunt. Once you come it feels as if it was royalty. The food is one of the best I’ve ever eaten. The location is also great and as well right next to sloans.

I must start out with saying the food and drinks here is very delicious! The ceviche they have on the appetizer menu is heavenly. Unfortunate the service here is awful. I came here during cinco de mayo and they did not have anyone in the restaurant or outside in the bar area. We sat down in the outside bar and we looked at the servers standing outside the door watching the crowd from across the street and ignored us while we waiting for the bartender to come. I would expect someone such as the manager who was also standing outside to either help us or get the appropriate person to. When we ordered the drinks, they did come out quickly. We probably had to wait another 20 minutes until they took our order. After the drinks and the food, we had to wait yet again for someone to acknowledge us. Not so surprisingly, the bartender ignoring us while keeping her attention to the party at the corner of the bar. I finally flagged down the manager to ask him for the check. If the service wasn’t so awful, this place would of gotten a 5 star, but bad service ruins an experience no matter how amazing the food is

I have been going to cabana restaurant since 2004. I used to go to their Seaport, downtown Manhattan location back in the days. We visited Delray location about 3 years ago and our recent visit there was 3 days ago. One thing for sure, The food and drinks never disappoint. The food is beyond delicious. This restaurant is one of my favorites. Their Pollo al ajillo, ropa vieja and churrasco are top 3 most delicious meals to order. If you are not sure what to order, ordering one of these dishes, will have you coming back to this place for another dinner. It’s THAT finger licking good. Not to mention, their white and red sangria are sooo good. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this place. One of my top 5 favorite restaurants for sure. Service is excellent as well.

They have the BEST Lunch Buffet Special! For $ 12 they give you a lot of great options. Plantains, yellow rice, baked chicken, tamales, papa rellena, empanadas, soups, shrimp, pork and Salad! The Food was delicious! The buffet takes place from. Monday– Friday from 12PM– 3:30PM! What a great place to treat yourself too without having to drive to Miami! This place hits home with me! We got here at 12:30PM, it wasn’t crazy, but the parking was a little nuts. We parked at the nearest parking garage, located behind the restaurant. As soon as you pass the park, you will see it on your left. $ 5 all day parking. Our server was incredible and God Sent! He was nice, fast and on point with the service! His name was Angelo! I asked him about the Beer Trade Co. He grabbed his GM Luis for tips and the waking directions. He was very cool too! As soon as I left, I was walking down the block. Angelo came to my rescue & brought me my credit card! What an Angel! I was so AMAZED By the service, that I completely forgot to grab my CC. Make sure you request him! You will be extremely pleased!

I have been wanting to come here for lunch time for the longest time and have not had the chance to do so. Today was the day though — we were around the location and my wife mentioned it to me and how could I resist. I have been here before for dinner and the food/drinks are typically on point. Let me explain how this little hidden lunch gem works… for $ 12.95 you get an all you can eat cuban style buffet. Typically I’m against eating buffets but this was different. Let me start by the food selection they have to offer… Croquettas, Papa Rellena, Rice, Beans, Fried Plantains, Chicken, Pork in a green sauce, Empanada, Cuban Style Tamales, Vegetables in a Coconut Sauce, and much more… My favorite which was very hard to decide from was the Vegetables in the Coconut Sauce… Damn, was it that good… I usually do portion control but I let myself go today and indulged in almost everything. Total of(2) plates which by the 2nd plate I was pretty stuffed but everything tasted so good. Our server Angelo was on point, nice and attentive. Heck, he was so good that my wife had accidentally left her credit card at the table after we were done and no lie — he chased us down the block to give it back to her. Now that is what I call«SERVICE» — he rocked!!! So, if you ever come and eat at this establishment — which you should definitely come here for lunch… Ask for Angelo!!! I will tell you this — we noticed that by around 1:30 the crowd started to come in — so, I would suggest getting in before that as you get to enjoy your meal/s. Will definitely be coming back for lunch — possibly next week!!!

I had a superb ceviche. My friends and I enjoyed our meals immensely. Wait staff is great. Service A-OK. There’s a lunch buffet which we should have chosen, but everyone there who did have it seemed to like it. Maybe next time. It looked great and seems to be quite a bargain, lots of choices. We sat outside and had a good time people-watching.

One of the best places to go in my opinion. Everything on the menu is delicious I would highly recommend the churrasco steak. Make sure to order it with a lime to squeeze on top. Sometimes they have cuban empanadas for a special.(Heaven)! Any of the mojitos are amazing, or try the caperina.

I never make it up to Delray, so when I have the excuse to be there, I know I have to eat to keep my Unilocal reviews in a nice geographic balance. Nancy M. suggested we all meet at Cabana El Rey prior to Marisol’s famous karaōke UYE and I happily accepted. She made reservations ahead of time and by the time I got there my party was seated at a high top table in the bar area and there was a pitcher of peach sangria waiting for me… all signs point to the fact that this will be a good night. I was not on top of my Unilocal game this particular evening in that I didn’t stalk the menu and debate my options for days ahead of time… honestly I never even looked at the menu(I’m reviewing it now actually to figure out what exactly I was eating). While they have entrees this is a great place to do a tapas style meal, and that’s exactly what we did. I was happy that the group put up with my no beef pork or chicken and there were plenty of pescatarian options served. My favorite thing was probably the tapas de hongos… mixed mushrooms in a garlic wine sauce served with Cuban bread. When I eat mushrooms like this it makes me question why anyone eats meat ever. These had great flavor and were great on top of the Cuban bread, but the bread was also perfect for soaking up all the extra sauce. I would definitely have to order this one again, and again. It was a pretty good serving as well. though I did steal it and take the bowl for myself near the end of the meal. We also did the tapas de gambas which was a very similar concept, but the wine broth had a little bit more spice to it… a great option as well, but I think I liked the mushrooms just a little better. We also had a sampler platter which had empanadas, jerk wings(I didn’t try either of those) as well as shrimp fritters and veggie fritters. I enjoyed both, and there was some sort of aioli sauce on the plate that I would love more of… I’m sure you could ask for extra on the side. As the server checked on us Marian L. and Nancy M. opted to add the coconut shrimp and the playa salad to our table. The coconut shrimp were HUGE! Literally Savanna M and I split one and it was still bigger than most shrimp. They had a sweet flavor on the outside. The playa salad was definitely special. Again it had giant shrimp as well as pefectly cooked scallops tossed with greens, tomato, avocado and a citrus dressing. I loved this salad. It was perfectly dressed, and the seafood was cooked perfectly. Our service was great, the manager stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking, and the waiter kept up with our requests pretty well… four Unilocalers ordering tapas can be overwhelming I’m sure. Thanks Nancy for picking us a great dinner spot! Cabana El Rey has a great vibe for a girls night out, and the tapas were the perfect way to try out the flavors of the menu.

Had dinner on one of the most beautiful night this week. Our server Sarah and her smile and sweet personality made dinner all the more enjoyable. Hubby had the new Crab Shishkabob, he said it was extremely tender and flavorful. We both shared The Seafood Paella… delicioso!!I’ve stated before, every meal I’ve had here never disappoints and the desserts are a perfect ending to any meal. Of course we had the Tres Leches and Café con Leche. Managers Carlos and Mario, have a friendly and great staff here. What a beautiful night!

Since we had to be in Delray for a little karaōke action at 8pm, it only made sense to grab a bite before hand and go over some lyrics. Nancy M. suggested Cabana El Rey and was able to get us a reservation for 7pm. Since traffic was a nightmare we all arrived slightly at 7pm, but they were happy to hold the table for us, and even fine with us grabbing a drink at the bar beforehand to wait for more of our group of 4 to arrive. We eventually sat in the bar area at a hightop/bench seat, and had Kevin as our server who did an awesome job! Cabana El Ray focuses on «spanish» style food, some real Spanish, some more Latin American, and some Caribbean influences, which makes it a restaurant right up my alley. For drinks, Jessica G. and I opted to share the peach sangria(pitcher sized, which really is a good deal), Nancy M. went with beer, and Marian L. with a mojito, and later a caipirinha. Since the four of us were really only in for a quick bite, Nancy M. selected some appetizers — **The Mushroom Tapa — A full dish of mushrooms in deliciousness. Served with bread. Probably my favorite! **The Shrimp Tapa — A full dish of shrimp in similar, if not the same, deliciousness as the mushrooms, though somehow we liked the mushrooms more. **The Tapa Sampler — Jerk Wings, Veggie Fritters, Shrimp Fritters & Empanadas, it was hard to pick my favorite on the plate, but I think I’ll go with the shrimp fritters, especially when you got some of the sauce served underneath. Now, because we were still peckish, and other things on the menu grabbed our eyes, we ordered a little more lol — **La Playa Salad — AMAZING! We couldn’t get enough of this perfect salad. I was tempted to lick the salad dressing off the plate. I would come back for this salad any day! **Coconut Shrimp — not the best coconut shrimp I’ve ever had, but perhaps the biggest! Sometime mid meal Mario stopped by to check on us, after getting to know Nancy M. via her reservation requests. He couldn’t have been nicer, and genuinely seemed to care about our experience. Now, honestly this was probably a 5 star meal, but I’ll hold back a star due to prices. We didn’t get any entrees, but they did seem a little pricey. I get it, it’s the Ave, and no doubt rent is pricey… but since I didn’t actually see an entrée to gather if it was worth the $ 25+ price tag, I’ll hold back for now. Though I’ll note, the ~$ 15 for that salad was spot on in terms of pricing! Thanks Nancy for picking us a fabulous spot!

Great dinner party in the back room. Service was perfect tonight. We were treated like royalty. Thanks to Pablito for introducing us to this awesome place. Been here many times and it’s always perfect. I highly recommend the guacamole w the plantain chips, avocado salad and the awesome lamb chops w cilantro and goat cheese. For dessert get the tres leche w guava purée and strawberries and dulce the leche icecream. Wow! FYI the kids love the grilled skirt steak. Check out my pictures.

Nice restaurant in the heart of downtown Delray. I came here for dinner with a few of my friends just randomly choosing this restaurant while walking down the street. We weren’t disappointed. The service was good. The drinks were good. We ordered empanadas to share and entrees. Everyone liked their food and we also ordered 3 different desserts. They were amazing. Especially the fried banana one. I will definitely go back and try other items on their menu.

This was the last stop on our Atlantic Ave. hopping… and it was a delicious ending. It wasn’t my first time at Cabana El Ray, but it was my first dining experience. We had a lovely Brazilian waiter who was knowledgeable about the food options as well as the drinks. I ordered a caipirinha, which was very delicious. We started with the tostones which were very yummy, slightly crispy, and flavorful. For my entrée, I had the Churrasco steak, it was accompanied by rice and black beans. All was well cooked and bursting with flavor, not only that it was a plentiful portion so much so that I took my extra home and enjoyed it for lunch the next day — lucky me! Unfortunately there was no live music this night, and the hostess couldn’t tell me when they had live music either though, they occasionally do. Overall, good drinks, good food and fab location, I’m a fan.

Cabana El Rey is a Cuban restaurant located in the heart of Delray Beach’s Atlantic Ave. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, décor is lively and the service is attentive and very friendly. Although I enjoy people watching and the outdoor seating would be perfect to do so, we opted to sit inside in the a/c as it was a hot afternoon. I was not aware that they have a Lunch buffet and it’s offered until 3pm. The buffet is $ 11.95 and it consisted of Cuban specialties: — Tamal con Lechón — Papa Rellena — Croquetas — Roast Pork — Chicken — Pork empanadas — Saffron rice — Shrimp soup — Shrimp Rice — Plantains — Green Salad — Corn/veggie salad — Black beans — Flan The food was very good, great flavor and quality at a very reasonable price. Service was very friendly, they checked on us several times and even brought us some stuff that was already gone from the buffet since we got there just as the buffet was shutting down. There is a large bar area, I would love to return and try a Mojito.

My 2nd time here and I fell in love! What a hit for the Ave. My date and I ordered 2 flavored mojitos, empanadas appetizer, a Snapper special they had available for the night as well as the Churrasco skirt steak — all for $ 90. Both entrees came with rice and beans. Yummy. I thought the drinks they had were interesting as you can choose up to 3 flavors for the custom drink. The empanadas were pretty small, quantity of 4, but very tasty. It came with a yellow sauce that each empanada was planted on. The skirt steak came out sizzling. Each bite with onion and chimichurri sauce was mouth watering. The snapper had a flavorful taste to it but wasn’t as great as we thought it would be. The staff was very friendly but the wait for the food was lengthy. I saw a consistent flow of turning over tables — definitely keeps the wait to a minimum. About 30 mins for our entrees. Will definitely keep coming back! Updating my review — best thing to eat there is their Lamb chop special. Wow. Extremely tender and melts in your mouth. Must try! About $ 30, the lamb came with chimichurri sauce and rice. Also tried their desserts, flan and banana fritters. While both were slightly overpriced, it definitely hits the spot.

The service and food are both great. Their empanadas and chimichurri steak are authentic and amazing! Decent prices, usually don’t have to wait for a table and they have indoor and outdoor seating. If you like mojitos I would suggest trying their 4 flutes deal. You can pick from multiple flavors and you get 4 small cocktails equivalent to about 2 full drinks. I had coconut, pineapple, passion fruit and strawberry. They were all great. I like variety it was more interesting then drinking one kind of drink.
