Small restaurant on Atlantic ave with great food. The grouper special and the grilled grouper where exceptional. The fruits of the sea on top of linguine with a fine sauce was magnificent. Service was ok.

Celebrated my daughter and son-in-laws 25th Anniversary recently, at J and J’s and was not disappointed considering all of the great reviews. We researched many local restaurants, to find the one that would honor this special event, and J and J came up with consistently high ratings. This is a small intimate place, with a well thought out menu selection. Our server, Beth, was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for exceptionally prepared sea food, presented in a very appetizing way, this is the place.

Excellent seafood house — don’t let the causal outside area put you off, this is a first class restaurant. Server was excellent, and provided info on each dish. The swordfish was perfect — citrus sauce with shrimp– cooked to perfection.

For visiting the area, this place was an excellent treat. There were no parking spots close by, but it was even worth the walk! We waited about ten minutes outside, and it went by so fast because we were pleasantly accompanied by the social hostess and one of the owners, Tina. Once the door opened, an amazing smell wafted into my nostrils. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but it doesn’t feel crammed. We were seated at a high top table way in the back, and it was a great spot to see fresh seafood and salad delivered to other tables. Our waitress was extremely knowledgable when it came to the specials and menu items. Although the beers weren’t featured on the menu, there was a nice selection. I had the Funky Buddha Floridian, a nice local wheat beer. At times she was busy which resulted in her slowish service. Also when we ordered, it felt like she judged our order, but we got over it quickly. The oysters were exactly what I was looking for! I got 3 Rhode Island little ones and 3 big ones from New York. So delicious. My sister got the chopped salad and it was a sight to behold! It was delicious! Entrees consisted of crab cakes, linguine, and little neck clams with garlic sauce. Let’s just say we got lost in the sauce! The crab cakes were right and melted in the mouth with every bite. The clams and linguine had a nice zesty homemade essence that made each bite irrefutable. Dessert was authentic key lime pie. «Delish» was the word my sister was able to muster between bites. The texture was exactly perfect, and the strawberry sauce underneath made the experience complete. I will definitely be back to J&Js!

Delicious food. Fresh and well-prepared. Friendly wait staff. Food came out fast and so tasty. I recommend the trio appetizer– great scallops. I had a special entre, grouper, which was amazing. Finished with key lime pie, one of the best I’ve ever had. I will be back.

Delicious fresh fish. I had the seafood pot pie, and for dessert the chocolate flourless cake and chocolate ice cream. Incredible. Another customer suggested that I have a burger there, or anything else on the menu because the chef is fantastic.

I’ll start off by saying make reservations!!! Went on a heavily rainy night so didn’t think it’ll be packed. Nope, wait time was 45 minutes and we were starving so we settled on the bar. Same food but seemingly different service: read below. The food is amazing! Had a bunch of appetizers: –Almond, goat cheese salad — sooo good! Generous serving of a warm goat cheese/almond ball paired really well with the salad. –Seafood mac and cheese — delicious and large, definitely entrée size! Asked to have half packed to go right away. –Seafood trio was yummy as well, scallops grilled to perfection(hubby is very particular about the consistency of scallops. He approved!), but the best part was the beet/truffle vinaigrette and greens, such a good/unexpected combo! –Baked oysters were great, we chickened out, but next time we’ll try the raw oyster bar. I would give this place 5 stars but the service was lacking. It took about 25 minutes before we were given bread and had our order taken. The waitress was really nice and spent a good amount of time speaking to each customer but I think a second hand was needed at the bar that night. Everything went smoothly once our food started coming out but the wait was a bit frustrating.

Recommended by our hotel as «the place the locals go», as it was a short walk from our hotel we decided to give it a go! It is a small place along the street of storefronts. Once inside it is very upscale and comfortable in décor. We couldn’t get reservations on short notice so we sat at the bar. The server was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. My husband and I both ordered snapper prepared in different ways. The meal came amazingly quickly and the were both delicious. The food was really good but $$$$$ as we racked up a $ 100 dinner with only one glass of wine apiece. The Delray area is great but expensive and since it is all expensive anyway…, J&J s is probably one of the best!

Terrible service. Our waitress was full of attitude and seems like she hates to work here. Food wise was ok. Nothing really special. Only thing I can say is flavor fit Florida climate thats all. Will I come back? Probably not.

Amazing food. We had grouper and snapper entrée from menu. Can’t say enough how good this was. About .5 mile from beach. And easy parking. Great staff and great experience.

Charming and delicious! You will always get a terrific meal here — along with thoughtful wine list choices.(because the wonderful couple who own it are on site: Chef and Host/sommelier) I recommend pretty much everything on the menu. Mostly stick with seafood, but steak, soups, salads, are good too. Favorite Appetizers: potato crusted scallops, Seafood Trio(shrimp, scallop, crab cake), Cold seafood bar choices. Salads good too. Mains: Yellowtail any way: the chef is a snapper-meister; J&J Tower, and specials that change weekly. Servers and Bartender: all young and excellent, but long-termers. Who would leave this?

My fiancé and I had an incredible meal here last night. We started with the mussels in white wine, perfect but must like garlic. Make sure you get extra bread, obviously. For entrees I had the Pan Seared Yellowtail over risotto which literally melted in my mouth. She had the littlenecks over linguine which was so ridiculously good that I couldn’t stop eating it. Our server, Kathleen, was excellent. Attentive but not overbearing, and was glad to fill us in with some great information about local hang outs. We even got a personal visit from the owner, a delightful woman(Sorry but her name escapes me) who informed us that her husband was the chef behind our amazing dinner. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay for dessert, which is supposed to be out of this world and made on site. Anyway, you get the idea. Nothing too fancy, the menus themselves could be updated and the host stand can use some work, but nothing can take away from the food and service. Enjoy.

This is a very good restaurant. Not the best in Delray(Dada’s is)… but this is a very solid pick if you want NYC food meets Delray. Small and intimate dining room. Very good food. Wine list is solid. I had the scallops which were very good. Wife had a salad with goat cheese, very good. You will need reservations, or come late(8:30, which isn’t late for us).

Just finished an amazing meal at J&J seafood Bar & Grill. Incredible food. We split pan fried oysters and baked oysters as an aooetizer. Then I has sesame crusted ahi tuna with ginger risotto. The dish was amazing. We had a great server(Amanda) who took great care of us. Attentive, knowledgeable, had great feedback on dishes. A must to eat at in Delray Beach.

Where did this place come from ? I drive up to Delray about 3 times a month to meet my grandfather for dinner and I was getting tired of our usual haunts so I naturally went on Unilocal and discovered this place. I called and made a reservation and then told my grandfather(who eats out in Delray 3 times per week) who promptly said«what ?! never heard of it, must be brand new«…Which it wasn’t. Tuesday night around 630p parked on Atlantic without a problem. Not so sure we’d be as lucky on a busier night. The store front is small and you have to be paying attention otherwise it would be easy to miss. Restaurant is small. Reservations are recommended. I counted 10 tables with about 6 bar seats and a handful of bistro tables outside. Service was ok. A little on the slow side and for such a tiny place I had to wave down our waitress twice which I never do. I thought the food was pretty good. Not amazing. But pretty good. I had the gazpacho with crab which is usually a favorite of mine but the gazpacho was like 30% red onion and the crab wasn’t a nice lump like it usually is. I tried a bite of my grandfathers calamari and it was decent but nothing special. For my entrée I had the grilled grouper which was cooked well and served with a thin sweet sauce that I feel like most people wouldn’t have liked. Ok. So now you have to wonder. Mediocre service and pretty good food. 3 stars. But I had to give an extra star because I rarely see my grandfather finish anything other than a cocktail and not only did he finish the pasta with clams but that was after he had a good bit of calamari. I also told him that I was sorry I took him someplace without a full liquor license(they have wine and beer only) and he said he didn’t mind but next time(he liked it!) we’ll have a martini at home before we go. Saved by the clams.

Great service and food. They lose a star for the bland lobster bisque sans lobster. They lose another star for keeping the door open which made the confortable environment hot and loud with the street traffic in such a small restaurant.

Best restaurant in Delray Beach. The food is incredible. Had stone crab claws that were huge, along with the grilled Grouper. Truly impressed. This is my new must-go for when I have friends or family visit. Great, friendly service. Especially the hostess and waitress

3 reasons we haven’t been to J & J’s before: they are closed on Sunday’s, and the location looks awful(like a restaurant in a strip mall), and they don’t have outdoor seating. We decided to finally go because of the great Unilocal reviews. Our entrees were fantastic, and we can’t wait to go back. The ambiance inside is cuter than the outside– think«romantic setting for 60 year olds». Ha! Definitely not swanky or hip like the other restaurants on Atlantic, but it’s cute. The bread– we had to ask for it(as I saw in previous emails). Very lackluster. Nothing special. I’d skip the bread unless you’re super hungry(this isn’t a place to speed in and out of). We got the snapper bites that were on special that night– it was fried snapper in a lemon rose sauce with a fruit garnish. Honestly, it was awful. Super greasy. The cheap grease flavor totally overtook any other flavor. Ok, so bread and appetizer sucked, but I still gave this place 5 stars, because we liked our entrees THAT much. I had the coconut curry shrimp and scallops with risotto. PHENOMENAL. I would’ve licked the plate if I hadn’t been in public! Portion appears small in the picture, but it was rich and filling. There were 3 large scallops and 4 large shrimp. My husband had the tower– a 5 oz steak, crab cake and 2 shrimp served over mashed potatoes. There was some sort of brown peppery gravy on the potatoes. He loved his meal– said the crab cake was the best part. All I could sneak a bite of(without losing a hand!) were the potatoes, and they were very good. We both really wanted to try the snapper and grouper(after all of the Unilocal reviews). Now we can’t decide if we’re willing to risk these 2 great meals to try the new 2 the next time we go!
