Food is really good but on the pricey side, just be prepared to wait a really long time. The first time my boyfriend and I went here, the place was not even busy. They had one table of 2 and another table of 8ish. ALLTHEOTHERTABLES were completely empty, but for some reason the wait was 1 hour. When the guy told us how long the wait was, he said it like he didn’t even want our business and hoping we’d leave(we arrived a few hours before closing). Anyways, the second time we decided to call in our order which took 45 min. When we went to pick up the food the place was pretty empty, so??? I would totally understand the wait if the place was packed but it was not.

Very cute and charming. The décor is nothing what you would expect from the outside, such a surprise! When I went it was empty– in between lunch and dinner. The waiter was friendly and very nice– making sure we were taken care of and gave good recommendations. Great food– fresh and flavorful. Will be frequently going for dinner!

I ate here years ago and stumbled across their Unilocal page so thought I would leave a review. The Persian food is delicious, I’m Persian and was with my family at the time. The only problem was that it was pretty pricey for what you get and vein in a college town with prices like that :/errr idk if it will get very far. I understand why they charge that cause the quality of their food is really good! Super fresh! Kabob barg is my favorite(I can’t remember if that’s what they have it named as on the menu) and some Persian places can really screw it up, but green zatar was super yummy. Plus it was family operated at the time, just a cute little couple running the place! They were very nice.

The food here is amazing and 100% authentic. This place is very underrated for some crazy reason. I’ve tried quite a few appetizers and entrees and they have always been delicious. I usually get the hummus, house salad, and veggie combo. The family that owns the place is really nice and they truly value their customers. Give it a try, you definetely won’t regret it.

Excellent Mediterranean fare in Denton. This place is definitely a hidden gem. It’s a little off the beaten path, but don’t let the humble strip mall location fool you; this charming restaurant has great food. Tonight we ordered Spanikopita and Baba Ghanoush to start. The Spanikopita came out warm and perfectly flaky. The Baba Ghanoush was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The pita bread it was served with was fresh and tasty. For mains, the lamb kabobs are incredible. The waiter told us they marinate it for two days. It was so tender and juicy. I’m definitely coming back!

Best Greek food in Denton, even if not always the best service. There are never many people there, but don’t let that scare you away. The moussaka is my favorite, and not just because it sounds like Mufasa from Lion King, though it doesn’t hurt.

I try to never give 5 stars to a restaurant based on just one visit, no matter how good it is. You just never know if that’s their normal or an aberration. When we first tried Green Zatar I was very tempted to break that rule however. Tonight we went back for our second visit and it was even better than the first. So I happily award them a fifth star that they very much deserve. Tonight I tried the Chicken Biryani. It was just fantastic. Spicy without being hot or overbearing, chicken so tender you don’t need a knife, and the rice is like they harvested a cloud. Add in another serving of their delicious Zatar Bread, a wonderful little(NA) drink called Mango Nectar, and it really was a night to remember. Finally, I have to mention our waiter. He was such a friendly guy. Eager to help, to answer questions, it’s just always so nice to get a server who excels at his job. It makes the whole experience better, and tonight was no difference. Give these guys a try. You won’t be disappointed. :)

Delicious tea, crispy pillows of falafel, beautiful herb salad dressing, and the best lamb I’ve had on this side of the equator. Definitely try the lamb kebab!

Delicious food! I have come here several times and everytime it was a delight. The atmosphere is lovely. There never seems to be anyone in the restaurant dining, but don’t let that worry you. Tonight we got mousaka, baba ghanoush, tabbouli salad, lentil soup, and a gyro sandwich. For desert, baklava. Everything was wonderful! Definitely a great place to eat in Denton.

Really yummy and authentic! I had the veggie moussaka and it was so fresh and delicious. The hummus was also very good and even the salad and rice were outstanding.

The vegan verdura here is amazzzzing. End of story. Grilled all-sorts-of veggies in a yummy tomato sauce with a bed of rice and a yummy fresh salad. The smell alone makes me drool. I added a side of hummus, and was so happy after this delicious meal I didn’t need to eat for days. You’re welcome. Great friendly and helpful service here too.

Went for lunch a couple days ago and was pretty disappointed. Our server barely welcomed us and just seemed like she did not want to be there. There were only 2 other tables in the dining room but when she took our order(veggie combo and vegan verdura sandwich) she came back twice to confirm our order– write the damn thing down if you can’t remember 2 things 10 steps away to the kitchen window. The veggie combo plate is literally laughable at $ 9.99. 2 sad scoops of dip, 1 falafel, and 2 baby sized dolmas with ½ of a cold pita bread. The vegan verdura sandwich was pretty tasty and the bread much better than what came with the combo. Just not worth $ 20 for lunch at all. The lights hung up were the highlight of our visit.

I love this place, being here a few times. The rice is flavorful and the ground beef kabob is well seasoned on this trip. Service is friendly with a mom and pop feel. One of the best little place in Denton.

Thanks Unilocalers! for leading my mom and I to this quaint little completely enjoyable place. We ordered the chicken salad, falafel sandwich, and lentil soup and enjoyed every bite. The servers were friendly and the environment is nice. This would be a nice place to bring a small group and the menu includes enough to accomodate everyone.

So happy I can finally check this off my list of bookmarked locally owned restaurants! I’d visited way back when under a previous name(and probably management) and has happy to see some changes and improvements as Green Zatar. The dining area is open with plenty of tables and space for groups. They’ve tastefully decorated with white lights strung overhead, colorful vases lit up atop shelves, and a little middle-eastern fabric flair on each table. We arrived prime time dinner on a Friday night to see multiple tables already seated and eating, so hopefully that means business has picked up a bit. It seemed like there was only one waitress for the floor, but she did a great job of still taking care of everyone in a reasonable time. The menu pricing seemed to be on the standard-high end compared to other Mediterranean food I’ve had in the area. A basic gyro sandwich, for example, will cost you $ 5.99 and come solo. If you want to add a side of fries(WHICHYOUMOSTDEFINITELYSHOULD– THEY’REAMAZING), that’ll cost you another $ 1.99. The entrée and dinner plates are upwards of $ 12.99 in most cases. My husband and I split the chicken biryani with saffron rice and added an extra Greek salad to supplement. We also ordered an appetizer of hummus and pita for the table to start off. Sadly, all of that was barely enough for two adults. Again, from my limited Mediterranean food experience, the entrée plates are normally HUGE… I’ve actually taken home leftovers after splitting before. So that was a little disappointing, but the biryani and rice was still fantastic. The salads had a nice spice on them, but were just basically large hunks of romaine lettuce with oil, vinegar, cucumber, and a couple of tomato wedges thrown in. The Greek salad simply added some olives and feta, but wasn’t too dressed up or what I was hoping for. The best things I tasted were the saffron rice, chicken biryani(very tender and flavorful meat), and tzatziki sauce. I had a bite of my friend’s gyro dinner and wasn’t blown away, but it wasn’t bad either. This may not be related to the food, but I found the bathroom situation a little weird. There’s no public restroom accessible from the dining area– you have to walk through an employees only door through the little kitchen to get to the single stall. It wasn’t very clean… seemed like a very basic, frequently used employee bathroom, not one for customers. It was also very close to the kitchen and prep stations??? I’ll be back, and possibly even just for take-out. Even if it’s just for those wonderful devil fries and some tzatziki sauce for dipping. Caesar’s Island in Corinth still has my heart on the Greek salad, hummus, and gyro.
