I’ve been here for brunch and enjoyed the duck confit sandwich. I came back again for restaurant week and was completely blown away with my dinner. I remember being forced to eat brussel sprouts as a child but they were not like the appetizer I had because they were deliciously seared and salty. My entrée was amazing kobe beef served perfectly. I feel that The Squeaky Bean prides themselves in having a menu that is simple but delicious. I was bummed to find out that they are now closed, but I look forward to when they re-open in their new location.

I’ve been here twice with my mom for lunch, and while the food was pretty good, I disliked how close together all the tables were. This isn’t something I usually critique, but when you have to put your butt in someone’s face to get to the restroom, you know that there is not enough space between the tables. Service was average both times. The duck sandwich was delightful, but only a once-in-awhile treat because it’s so heavy.

Yup, turned out to be everything people have said, and more. I took my BFF here to congratulate him on his new job. We had already began to tie one on and didn’t get here until after 9pm. Luckily, it was still nice enough — natch — perfect enough to sit outside. Our waiter was the best, almost too good, the way he stood at the table next to us, meticulously going over each dish. By the time he got to us, we knew exactly what to get. I was in the mood for the Dungeness crab w/watermelon radish!(was awesome) and Jake got the(deconstructed) pork chili verde(so good). The Crispy Medjool Dates w/cambazola & prosciutto were the best«Devil’s On Horseback» that I’ve had since first discovering this dish a little over a year ago. What I really like about this place is that it’s not over priced. Sure, I can’t afford to go every week, but it didn’t break-the-bank, either. It’s affordable for more than just a special occasion. Charlie — I promise you can come next time, but it’s not made for vegetarians.

This place is fabulous. They never disappoint. We have gone for dinner numerous times and every time we leave very happy. Amazing cocktails! The service is great– they always have suggestions on drinks and food. Love the charm, great music and atmosphere. We are heading back this Saturday actually! Its one of my favorite denver spots! Def good for foodie types. If your incredibly picky, it may be a bit out of your comfort zone as the menu is very interesting!

Quite possibly the best place to eat in Denver, if money were no object. Quirky and classy. However, Very low FD(food-to-dollar) ratio. Your dollar does not get you very far.

Went in for a weekday breakfast– not much offered weekdays before 11am. That was kind of disappointing– REALLY wanted to try the eggs benedict– and they were strictly going by the 5 or 6 selections available and thats it. So we tried the egg sandwich and overnight french toast– both were amazing! Just the right amount of food– quality over quantity. And no mediocre extras like most places. The coffee was SPOTON. Great flavor. Just really perfect. We’ll be back again for the wide variety weekend brunch.

I finally made it to Squeaky Bean! A girlfriend and I had just been to a wine and cheese tasting and were in the mood for more wine and interesting eats. We head to Squeaky Bean hoping that we’d get a two top for a Thursday night. No two tops available for 30 minutes or so but there were plenty of seats at the bar. The bartenders were really nice, generous and funny. Fellow bar diners were pleasant as well. We ordered the beet salad(I have never had a beet in my entire 20 some years of existence!) and the croque madam to split. We got the beet salad first. Like I said, I have never had a beet but the bartender was over the moon about this salad so I was a big girl and tried it. Thank goodness! It was so delicious. It almost tasted like caprese salad to me. For someone that has never eaten beets before… if they all taste like this… I will definitely eat more! Then the Croque Madam came. What a rich sandwich! Potatoes, prosciuto, cheese and a fried egg. All of my favorite things in one half sandwich. The bartender had the sandwich split for us so we each got a half along with our own little piping hot butternut squash soup. It was all so yummy and different. Don’t get me wrong this was a great dinner but the prices and food were a little intimidating. Half of the menu items I had never heard of and I feel like $ 12 is a lot for a sandwich. However, the explosion of tastes and all the new things I tried was a lot of fun and totally worth the price. Hopefully I will be able to order something different next time to broaden my Squeaky Bean horizons but I think I’ll get this meal one more time and then try something new…

The Bean, The Bean, I love The Bean! One of my favorite brunches and defiantly my favorite bloody mary ever! The vodka is cucumber infused which I think just makes this número uno. It’s not over-spiced like some bloodies tend to be. Keep it simple, keep it fresh… that’s all you need! Perfect on a hot summer day, just what you need to cool you down. For brunch I recommend pigs in a blanket, do it, you know you want to! I could go every weekend for that dish with a side of, bacon, as if you don’t get enough to begin with, and of course, multiple bloodies! The french toast is also one of my favorites. It’s very dense and very filling. The duck fat fried potatoes are also a must. Service is always attentive and very enjoyable. They take their time with you which gives dining here almost the feel of an experience. There is a great patio along side of the street. I would love to go back for dinner someday, but I just can’t get over brunch-can you go twice in one day?!

For those of you that hate breakfast listen up you may become addicts I was like many people who would pass on traditional brunch foods in search of something more substantial like a sandwich. That all changed when I started coming to squeaky bean. Their boars bacon is amazing, not too fatty, a bit chewy and slightly sweet the perfect complement to olive oil poached eggs. If you are a fan of french toast you must try the texas toast… it is stuffed with some deliciously sweet sauce I feel so naughty eating it for breakfast. If you are in the Lodo/Highlands area this should be your breakfast spot.

If I owned a restaurant, I would want it to Squeak! Go there right now for the Autumn Squash Salad — you won’t regret it. The Bean strikes the right balance between friendly, neighborhood vibe and high-end dining. The building is fabulous, old, and on a wonderful corner — there’s great outside seating and a fun bar inside. The servers are enthusiastic. SB emphasizes fresh, local ingredients. Lots of the produce comes from Aspen Moon Farm(near Denver) — whose owner is a sister of one of the Bean’s servers. Their autumn menu is spectacular, with these highlights: Kohlrabi & Apple Soup: curry poached apples, shaved kohlrabi, roasted fennel Autumn Squash Salad: roasted spaghetti & delicata, pistachio crackers, strachiatella, frisee, honeycomb mustard seed vinaigrette Being the geek that I am, I like that their wines by-the-glass arrive in chemistry lab beakers.

The Squeaky Bean is the perfect place to spend some quality time with the girlfriend, wife, mistress, etc. What makes the SB so unique for me is the eclectic atmosphere. Whether its serving water in a milk jar or the mini Farrah Fawcett shrine above the bar, this is a pretty hip place. While the food was above average from what you would expect from a bar, this is probably not someplace that I would hang out with the boys. Since we had just had a meat feast the night before we were looking for a light meal. Being that we were here on a Sunday, I decided to order the Tuna Conserva sandwich which was a refreshing mix of avocado, celery, parsley, pine nuts, capers, and some type of aioli. My friend decided to go with their Overnight French Toast from their brunch menu which was a baked custard soaked bread with cinnamon & syrup. While not bad, SB’s french toast tasted more like a bread pudding. We also decided to try the duck fat roasted potatoes which just tasted ordinary to me & were nothing special. Although I was not overly impressed by their food, I still would return to try some items from their lunch or dinner menu.

Wowza! I met up with some of my fellow LUPEC members and friends for a mid-week happy hour, and was so glad that I did! Sitting at the bar, we tried many of their specialty cocktails including: the squeaky spritz(refreshing), the sleestak(light and not too sweet), The Fred Berry(herb perfection), brazilian(on the too-sweet side), and the rip-hippie(delightful).We also tried the starry night, not listed on the menu, but full of blueberry goodness, along with everything thats about autumn in a glass — the drinkable molly brown. So yum! The staff was very accommodating, especially my new favorite bartender, Dan. He mixed up all the libations with perfection in both taste and presentation. Don’t feel limited by the cocktails on the menu, Dan mixed up creative, beautiful and delicious drinks based on a simple«I’d like something with whiskey.» In addition to the plethora of cocktails, we ordered some delicious treats from the menu. The Spinach Artichoke dip was a twist on what you would normally get. The goat cheese adds a new dimension to an old favorite. It was good, but not the best. The roasted cauliflower was an amazing medley of tastes and I could have eaten the entire plate. The crab and watermelon salad stole the show though — it was sweet, creamy strangely perfect combination and has gained«last meal» status in my book! I’ll be back soon(and repeatedly) to get my fill! It does get busy quickly, and is awfully warm inside, so I suggest getting their early and sitting outside for a nice breeze when it’s warm out. All in all, we had a great time sampling cocktails and food, and I can’t wait to go back!

Hands down, this place has the worst service. I got there for brunch shortly after the doors opened. There were more employees than patrons, and instead of serving the patrons, they spent the entire time talking to each other. When our server deigned to come by out table, she would barely speak to us. I’m willing to cut people a break if they’re slammed, but when you feel like your intruding on the employees’ social hour and you have to go the bar to get your own drink refills, it’s time for a serious change. This place may have been good at one time or this experience may have been out of the ordinary, but I’ll never know, because I will never go back.

Awesome neighborhood restaurant! The quality, freshness, tastiness and creativity of their dishes and cocktails are spot on, and very reasonably priced for what you are getting. Everything on the menu sounded incredible. Though their menu changes often, I love their Shake and Bake Sweetbreads, which was heavenly — I haven’t had Shake and Bake since I was a little kid! This place rates up there with Root Down, Steubens, and Lola’s. The only downside is that there is no a/c so dining inside in the summer heat could get unbearable — the extra wait for and outside table is well worth it. Keep up the good work!

I did very much enjoy my dinner at squeaky bean. Server was personable and very knowledgeable about the menu. Had the croque monsieur and it was delightful. I could have used a bit more bechamel sauce but it was still very tasty. I especially liked their carrot potato soup, so creamy and delicious. The burrata is very yummy however the presentation is a bit much. With delicate cheeses I like to focus on the cheese, not bread and pesto and whatever other spread they give you with it. My BF had the egg and asparagus appetizer and said«it was the greatest appetizer he’s had in Denver» yes he’s serious about eggs. Cocktails are FUN! I love that they use fresh squeezed citrus in the drinks, it really makes a difference. The only other downsides I can see is that I don’t feel truly comfortable in there. I’m not THAT big of a person, however I am clumsy. I bumped into the person behind me, bumped my arm into a server(yes I talk with m y hands so?), and almost knocked my plate off the table trying to push it away from me a little. The bar patrons are right up against you. The hostess said they are looking into trying to expand which I hope they do, because I’d like to relax at dinner. Not watch my every move so I don’t knock something over. Food was fantastic though, everything I tasted was great. So I guess if you are small and not clumsy like me, it’s a perfect fit!

Great neighborhood spot for brunch on a patio! So, this place made the 5280’s Top 25 Restaurants in Denver this year, so some friends and I got together for brunch to check it out. Luckily, the weather cooperated and we were able to snag a table on the patio. This would be quite a feat at many other brunch places at noon on a Sunday(we’ve been to some that are standing room only), but not here. In fact, when our happy little group grew from 5 to 6, our very pleasant server added another table to ours to accommodate the extra person. Awesome! We commenced ordering and although I was tempted by the biscuits & duck gravy, I went with the old standby, Eggs Benedict. But, don’t expect your usual greasy spoon food, here. I got a Gourmet Eggs Benedict on a yummy, crusty biscuit(no english muffin) with prosciutto. It was quite delicious! The baguette«side» was enormous and very tasty as well. I recommend you get one for your table, because it’s a bit overwhelming for one person. Under $ 15 a person and no hassle about multiple cards or split checks, that was nice. Minus 1 star for terrible coffee(its sad, really, they have it specially made to taste that bad, yuck!). I will definitely be back, but I’ll be swiggin’ a bloody mary with cucumber vodka next time instead of that rank coffee.

I happened upon The Squeaky Bean accidentally. You see, I’m not too hip on The Highlands, and I got lost. I pulled over to look at my map, and The Squeaky Bean caught my eye. I went in. This place is so cute. I sit down at the bar and admire the details, and I’m feeling I might not be cool enough for this place. My tea comes in a fancy triangular tea bag and an ultra-hip stainless kettle. I wasn’t too hungry, but I ordered buttered toast with cinnamon sugar. And I waited. And waited. And waited. I contemplated going home and toasting myself some bread. Finally, my toast arrived. It looked amazing. I know that ‘toast’ is one of the most boring foods, but not this one. It was a delicious sourdough loaf. It was chewy, and crunchy, and buttery, and sweet– pretty much, perfection. I forgave my toast for taking so long, and happily enjoyed the rest of it. After glancing at the menu, I can not wait to try this place for a full meal.

I thought The Squeaky Bean was pretty good. The roasted cauliflower salad was delicious. The artichoke sandwich was okay, but I wouldn’t order it again. For dessert, the«Ode to Joy»(take off on an Almond Joy Bar) was delicious. The atmosphere and service were great.

A truly 4 star brunch experience and worth the drive even if you’re not from LoHi. Had the fennel sausage omelet with shaved marinated cabbage(!?!), chipotle peppers an’ sumpin’ else, and it was freakintastic. Their coffee is a special blend from Pablos and contains some of their Danger Monkey blend, and if you’ve ever had that, you know that’s some serious brew. The servers were nice and speedy and the spot on the corner is open and airy. All in all, a fine fine experience.(We hear that it’s great for dinner, too, so will be testing it out soon and will report back to you, my faithful, innumerable readers. .. uh, yeah:-).

So, a lady friend of mine is best friends with the mother-in-law of the owner and managed to get us in for the preview of their dinner menu. This was about a month or so ago and I am seriously tardy in writing this review — sorry about that. I was totally blown away(which I suspect was their intent so we’d tell the masses). Well, I’m telling you it was amazing and they were totally sold out so the kitchen was cranking. The only problem is that it was a tasting and, honestly, after about the first ten dishes I can’t remember much about the food except that I was sad when it stopped coming. For such an unassuming little spot, the food was definitely on a level with many of Denver’s best high end joints. I’d probably give them five stars but since this was a special event, I’m not sure how much of the menu is even available on a regular basis. Loved the space — reminds me of a lot of little neighborhood gems in San Francisco. The staff couldn’t have been nicer and we met some really great foodies at our table with whom we are keeping in touch. Just a really fun evening. If our experience is any indication, you should really check the place out.
